Thing is I'm not so sure.

Sure chris has done stupid things in the heat of the moment, but rarely does he make any kind of sustained effort towards anything.

When Bob died, Chris was saddened sure, but his outlook barely changed at all, and what did change happened over months.
Barb going would destroy some of his daily structure, but in many ways Chris really is too lazy to actually go crazy in any remarkable way.

Keep in mind that currently Chris is relatively self sufficient in every way other than financial, he buys and cooks his own food, drives and even socialises in clubs all on his own.

Chris has a somewhat vauge understanding of his daily routine without direct guidance, and I'm not entirely sure how important Barb is to him outside of a dosh source and stabilising element.

Barb herself is pretty much a nutjob and has been for some time.

I'm not saying Chris won't get locked up and institutioanlized, I'm just not really sure what will happen. The big question is how the financial situation will be, it's unlikely he can keep anything Barb actually owns because she owes so much in debt to banks.

Why do these franchises appeal so much to kids with autism?
