One idea that occurred to me was trench warfare with rabbits.

Imagine, instead of the slow and clumsy pushes they used to have in WW1, you'd have battalions of rabbits dashing across the field, using their legs to skim over the treacherous mud, dart around and hop over land-mines, and using their ears to listen for incoming artillery shells.

Most of the time I see someone criticize a CC is people bashing them without citing a single reason. It's not like 'I don't like x because y' or simply 'I don't like x' but is almost always 'x is shit because is shit' or 'You are all licking the boots of x' or similar, generalizing personal tastes with an universal declaration. And I think you can agree with me that comments like those are extremely similar to the bait ones and so are treated like such.

Because I see only one anon trying to do an hugbox route (and then doing a one-on-one discussion with another anon, a discussion largely ignored by the thread), the other comments are another anon noting that he left the sketch line in, the author agreeing and another anon confused because he thought they were different characters.
So, I can understand what are you saying, but I don't fully share your opinion on the matter. There are anons who will try to stir shit with comments, anons that will criticize in a way that almost surely will raise hostility and anons who will be defender at the point of stupidity of others. And then there are anons who can make a civil discussion and, from what I've seen, they are the majority. Don't be led astray by the few others.

Most artfags would love a useful critique; they're probably more aware of their shortcomings than the viewer. If you can actually provide that, then by all means do so.

Otherwise, an encouraging comment that also recognizes somethings shortcomings is probably the way to go. I.E.: "That's a good effort. Keep on practicing." The implication being that more practice is needed, but also showing appreciation for what is on offer.

Did you not see Mead get ripped a new one re: snakes and joker Swinton? That just one case. I've seen tons of examples of people voicing criticism of content creators' works, and it's even done so rationally sometimes.

I'm not sure it changed the way Mead handled his comic, but it might have, just as constructive criticism might have. But that's just it, constructive criticism doesn't happen as much, does it?

Are you ignoring the "cool oh that's nice" and the "kys fag" or is just the former is invalid? Because "cool oh that's nice" isn't helping anyone either. Sometimes people don't have any criticisms, constructive or otherwise.

I'm a person who has made changes to characters and my presence in the threads based on constructive feedback when it occurred. If feedback is constructive rather than dismissive once in a while, does that make it a hug box, or does that make it life?

And I'm telling you that I personally love being criticized. Hearing what does and does not work in writings is a wonderful thing, and helps me see areas where I can make improvements.

But it only works if the criticisms tell me what I'm doing wrong, or how such and such doesn't work. Yelling "you suck" helps no one. If that's the sort of criticism you're talking about, it's no wonder it gets ignored.

Maybe you should get better as a critic.
