After that, I don't think it was ever really more than a handful of people contributing from the start, so even if the pool of posters in the thread is 50, your actual pool of people who are concerned with it is probably closer to what you started with on that first day :(

It's still really, really not a big deal IMO. All that's being used is convenient character art that people find attractive. Names, backstories, and other stuff gets changed to people's tastes. The art becomes a window dressing to an idea (And sometimes there will even be different characters "contributing" pics to the same character idea) - it's not about that character itself. It's just a method of having some lewd fun in a thread on 4chan, not character identify theft or something.

I mean do you think it's also wrong for people to look at freely available art and imagine themselves doing all sorts of lewd things with said character that almost certainly aren't "canon" to that character? Because that's basically the same thing - looking at an image and inserting your own fantasy. People just happen to want to talk about their fantasies sometimes.

I think it's pretty dumb to freak out about it like it matters when it really just doesn't whatsoever. I could see your point if it was instead "You shouldn't take people's characters and then try to steal their full identities and go publicly RP as them, make an FA account as them, and (etc)" but it's pretty much entirely harmless to be like "Oh hey, a pic of a brown muscular canine girl that I've never seen before (and that I probably have not a single clue about as a character). The thread characters are a fun little project though!
