I only played the demo of Nu-Doom to see how it would run on my machine. Definitely showing my PC built in 2012 some age.

That said, isn't Doom 2014 a little limited right now in regards to mods? Snapmap looks awfully limited and I'm not actually entirely sure on what modders can accomplish so far.

built my machine when the phenom 2's were new still rocking 8 gigs of ram and a 7950 it runs fine for me. But yeah i think denuvo or something else is holding mods back at the moment. Hopefully someone comes up with a cracked client eventuall or beth stops being cunts and releases mod tools.

If you can follow, it's a mod called Guncaster. You play as a dragon called Cyg who is overpowered as fuck by Doom standards. It's actually quite a well-made mod, also factoring in Heretic and Hexen compatibility; in the latter you don't start with a pistol and the character shittalks after Korax says something when you first enter a hub.

For standard Doom fare though, might want to look into something like Colorful Hell to buff the monsters, though there must be some kind of compatibility patch around because enemies won't drop gold otherwise.

I just have concepts for my big epic at the moment, kind of like storyboards but not so much strictly art but also technical aspects and notes. An example being toward the end of the campaign the main character, I don't know if it's going to be custom or if I'm going to use the badass !!SPACECOP!! cyborg chick I made awhile ago, but I want to integrate them reuniting with companions and love interest after blowing the shit out of everything. Sort of like a playable cutscene where you can make some final decisions but the flow doesn't interrupt.

I was listening to Tech Noir by Gunship and the chorus made me think "this would be great for one of those spin-around camera moments where the main characters kiss" and ran from there. Obviously not all the companions would be there and it would be highly dependent on who you pick. I want "companion" to be a flexible thing too, I came up with this while I was fucking around, instead of having "hurr tech expert uses pistols" and shoehorn them in like that I think having support elements away from main mission area is important. I want a seamless environment (as best as I can get) so putting those support companions there would mean you might miss them in the final bit but they play vital roles there too.

Obviously strong AI is critical, a game that relies on computer friends is going to suck loads of dick if the companions are all assholes and elbows. Lots of playtesting, but I know if I get it perfect it'll all be worth it. Above all else the gameplay should be at the top with the story, I can't tell a story if the medium is broken and ruined. I think schedules get in the way of that, which is shit because if you rush the finished product it will be inherently inferior and thus make less money and affect the potential for favorable sequels. Mass Effect did great with bringing people back, keeping them engaged, so the technical challenges are but one aspect of a multifaceted issue. Does that clarify things?

Kobold on anything. I started storyboards for an animated series set in a sort-of DnD campaign in which a kobold fighter has an awkward romance with the elven cleric.

Kobolds are great, they can be cute and loving or on either end of some rougher fucking.

I would honestly suggest trying to make your own if you can understand how to create AV's because most of the ones being sold are pretty basic and you have to be creative.


I had a spending spree months ago and i just bought a bunch of stupid shit but you should be able to get by without spending alot (and hopefully nothing) if you know what you want and where to find it.

Yeah it was my first "custom" build which is just modded pieces. I think it looks better in motion but I don't really use it anymore. And yeah all the clothing is detachable. I don't like full mesh avatars that come with clothes you can't take off

Of course nothing from the same guy who made fucking Russian Overkill is going to be balanced, especially when the monsters themselves are barely touched (gold drops) and even Colorful Hell's white-tier monsters can hardly stand up to the player in each of PillowBlaster's mods after they have a few pickups. It's a universal problem with his stuff but goddamn he sure can do it in style at least.

Mods like MSX, Demonsteele, BD, and DRLA have their own monster tweaks and/or additions to balance out the player's abilities, though the latter does have them optional and standalone.

Too bad Project MSX is dead as fuck.
