it's not the first time I've commissioned them. Probably shouldn't have commissioned them again with regards to how the first time went but I adore their art.

What I commissioned was very similar to the stuff they normally draw for leisure, the only reason I can think of them putting it off is because if anything it might be more tame than what they normally do. As someone who's done a few commissions and seen it in others, and does a lot of trades and seen it in myself, sometimes it's very nice to not have to worry about creative control.

Sometimes you do just want to hand someone a character and let them do whatever with it, you'd be happy to see anything with them. A YCH is just that.

Also keep in mind, some people aren't that creative. Johnny NeonFox Purpledick might not realize "oh, yeah, I like this kind of pose" till he sees it in a YCH and feels compulsed to buy it.

I can't speak for why people don't buy set price things, I would never spend money on porn personally, so it's not a mindset i can put myself into, but I feel part of it is notoriety.

If someone just wants images, there's a bunch of back alley artists who'd probably sketch up your OC for like 15 bucks. if talent is the concern, again, there's plenty of artists who are really good, but relatively unknown. These high spenders always go for people with middling talent but are well known, they don't take the time to look because they don't need to, they just want people discussing their spending and making them popufur as a result.

If I were to set it up anon I'd have it like this:
Base tier is higher resolutions and possibly alternate versions of posted works.
2nd tier would be access to the source files.
3rd tier would be raffles.
And last tier would be access to my private sketches and drawings. Why this is so high in price and tier is because I wouldn't share these normally due to being study practice, occasional guro, or happy trees. I would feel sensitive about giving these out and I feel putting these behind a paywall justifies it a little.

Your prices, while they depend on your quality, there is a secret very few people understand: Is not the worth you see in it, but how much people are willing to pay. This is why you have people that spend astronomical amounts of money for average art. Once you dominate this concept you can get away with ANY price you want. It also involves convincing others around you that is worth that price.

But you’re better off being fair if you want people to look at you, not too cheap but not too expensive. You’ll always have willing clients if your style/pandering proves to be appealing. You must cover a demand in order to have a public, hence why so many artists cater to fetishists in order to get an audience.

Ultimately your prices will depend on the time/difficulty you have working on specific areas, that will affect how much you ask for them but that also means you must train harder in those areas. Quality is the most important factor but so is fairness, nobody likes a person that asks for too much and if you ask for too little people will take advantage of that.

I’d say more but I think I’ve sperged enough and I don’t want to appear pretentious.

I am guessing you could do raffles as one of the goals of your patreon, but that means it would have to include every person pledging to you, so no stuff like "one $10+ patron gets a chance to win 1 character pic every month".
