PST. I always check the threads before I go to work.
I have Economic final in 12 hours and watching fox fucking bunny
I think I need help
Shilling my fic again since its a new thread and a new day.
I hope to get a new chapter out within a few days at most.
http://archiveofourown.org/works/7110964/chapters/16153546
Any comments/critiques are appreciated. And I realize that the first chapter is pretty expository, but that won't be so much the case in the future I'm thinking.
>>3294506
It's because the market value of you failing that test is less than the market value of fox fucking bune.
Clearly this indicates an opportunity for expansion.

Thats the joke, geddit?
>>3294338
What happened to the last thread? Normally when I come on here there are 2 zoo threads to look through...

It died. It was a slow thread, didnt even hit image cap
>>3294558
Must be the first one to date that hasn't hit image cap. Sign of a slowdown?
>>3294518
Hi, fellow WriteAnon, I gotta get to work, but my biggest comment would be "Show, don't tell" in the early part of the story where you're explaining how good Nick and Judy are as cops and as friends.
If you're still around in the PM, I'll explain more.
>>3294573
Sunday night/monday morning.
Tends to be slow, there were 100 unique posters total in the last thread
>>3294579
cool, thanks
>>3294525
It's all because of disney's negative externalities. I'm just mere individual affected by huge corporation's marketing policy. It was not my fault.
I feel better. I'll just keep watching fox knot.

I know it might sound stupid, but has anyone else experienced the same with their Zootopia artbook?
I can't read more than 10-12 pages at once because I feel a bit overwhelmed by the intricate beauty of the designs. My brain goes like "oh wow, awesome", but like a heroin intake from the "requiem for a dream" scene and I put it away to cool down a bit.
Granted, I try to memorise and understand the logic behind the designs as much as possible, but I'm not alone here, am I?

Hey guys, does anyone know any update about weaver's the Bully of the Burrows?
>>3295108
No contest there. I wasn't trying for that at first, but felt more right after a quick review before posting.
I went through a few stages about my feelings on Finnick's chosen voice. It was funny when first revealed of course, but later had me wondering if it really suited his tiny stature. Kinda felt like a waste, leaving him stuck with a comically deep voice for the sake of a one-time gag, when a lighter voice would've felt more appropriate for a fennec in the longer run. Then, it sort of came back around, funnily enough. Maybe the deep resonating voice really does suit him better.

I think it works because he has a short mans syndrome, and in many ways acts much larger then he actually is.
>>3295366
"The heat of the moment" still requires breaching a boundary without asking. Too many questions still exist, especially since this is ostensibly their first time together. I back off of it being the unequivacably better version, but it's still a much healthier take on it, in my opinion.
>>3295231
Yknow, I could see him coming back as something like a radio host or a dj. Even if it's just a cameo, maybe dj'ing a club Nick and Judy are doing..something in and he could give a shout out to Nick.
>>3295398
Healthier, sure.
Better for the story, subjective.

Good point. When just about everything else about him oozes with Napoleon complex, an unusually deep voice goes well in reflecting that. All the more reason to love the lil' guy.
>>3295410
He's bound to come back, honestly. Easily the most favored peripheral character in the movie, despite so little screen time. I'm betting he'll be more involved with the plot in the hopeful sequel.

Here ya go. And as to how things would proceed now, after Nick's dropped out of hustling, hopped onto the other side of the legal fence, and is almost certainly nurturing some real romance with cottontail... Well, it's a conundrum alright.
Mind you, all this time spent pondering about H.M.S. FinNick, I never quite considered the relationship to be the romantically intimate kind that WildeHopps is. There's affection and empathy involved, just as much as there's lust and physical attraction, but it's still not quite at the same level of a romantic bond. Then again, I suppose that's what people usually mean when they say 'bromance'. For Nick, Finnick is just a particular friend and associate. Someone he teases and likes to get a rise out of, being the smug and prickly fox he is... But who also knows not to push the fennec's borders at the same time. All the poking and jabbing at Finnick's expense is simply because he's just as adorable when he's angry (among other things), not out of some malicious motive to degrade or tear apart.
So who knows? I'd presume that with his new line of work, Nick doesn't get the chance to touch base (read: knots) with Finnick as much as they used to anymore. But maybe there are still those rarer times and opportunities to drop by the van, shoot the shit, and revisit good memories. Finnick almost certainly appreciates it, even if he'd never admit it...and Nick? Well, he could always read the fennec like a book. He doesn't need to hear it from the little dude to know.

Good morning happy /ztp/ thread! Its comicanon!
Wonderful news for all you big fans of Zootopia's favorite rambunctious reprobate: chapter three of my perhaps indefinitely untitled Duke Weaselton adventure is finished!

I'm off to cook some breakfast, but today I have time to read other people's fics and give feedback, blind read throughs, and I'd like to maybe try using this Audacity software to make an audio recording of someone's fic, like a book on tape!
Love you all!

>She can just barely make out him saying her name, the end turning into another breathy whimper
>She brings her face closer and closer to his eager paw, watching it squeeze the knot
>He's obviously close, she moves her mouth in, preparing to take his load
>"Honey... I lo-"

While i do think that Nick doesn't take it too seriously, I'm wondering about that whole foxes mate for life thing. Not in the sense that I want to see them together forever, but more that they may have created a bond from the years of mating and aftersex/tied chit-chat without really noticing it. Also since Finnick isn't having to do embarrassing things with him anymore, the whole being the dom at the end of the day wouldn't balance out either. I'm thinking that given enough time with Nick starting to get more romantically involved with Judy that Finnick's gonna start missing it moreso than Nick.

I do like that, yes. It would make plenty sense for the particular bond between the two to have formed very slowly and subtly over the years, out of repetition and habit. What may have started out a silly and casual outlet for purely physical impulses, ever gradually growing deeper and deeper roots into the nature of their relationship.
There's admittedly a lot we don't officially know about Finnick. His particular age, how long he and Nick have known each other and hustled together, how they even came to meet in the first place. That's a lot of critical blank spaces that need filling in, before building up the framework of their relationship. Me, I've personally liked the notion suggested by some fan comics out there; That Finnick is a couple of years older, and was one of the first contacts that a young and freshly-disillusioned Nick made in his childhood. A little bit of a mentor to the ex-scout fox, if only because of that minor gap of age and experience; Someone that Nick took his first baby steps into the criminal life with, before he outgrew the fennec figuratively (and literally), and began to take charge of their business affairs.
The latter point is a fair though; Once they ceased their cooperative scams, this does mean that Finnick should have less of a reason to be dommy in their intimate affairs. But then again, one could also argue that Finnick probably has a lot to put up with during his daily life anyway. Sure, he's no longer playing the 'toddler' to Nick's 'loving father', but he's still a small guy, who has to put up with mammals much larger than him on a daily basis; The feelings of inadequacy born from his lacking size aren't going anywhere. Plus, after having spent so many days and nights with Nick in that dom/sub dynamic, it wouldn't be absurd to suggest he may have grown conditioned to it.
That, and I'm betting Nick totally goads him with even more smug and sass. Pic related.

I could definitely see the sass in 99% of the relationship, but I'm willing to bet there have been a couple of times in the later half of it where things get emotional, like how I suggested; finnick feeling like shit for being small. But it was a rare thing.
What I'm wondering is how and when the whole thing could've started. Could Finnick one day had enough and wanted more than half the money for the humiliation he goes through where all Nick does is make himself look nice? And even if they came to such an agreement, how? Maybe a bj to keep his business associate around later growing into what that have now? It would be odd for Nick to suggest it because he doesn't seem the exploratory type.
The other thing I'm wondering is of Finnick will break one day and come to Nick instead of vice versa, leaving Nick in a position to explain their 'fox bond' to Judy.

I'm not going to say anything, but ask yourself if it sounds like a good idea.

>page 1 v2
Is there a page 2?
>>3298515
no, because I know it will happen? You have to account for the viewer when you create something.
For the same reason Zootopia creators never explicitly stated Otterton figured out the cause of the savage epidemic and had him darted by Dawn for this very reason. You need to leave some sort of an unspoken given so it resonates with the recepient if that makes sense.
>>3298533
What? That doesn't
What does Otterton have to do with anything?
>>3297503
Google videos of "The Great American Challenge".
If humans can use that, then surely the Dude can.
>>3298553
by bringing up this example I mean you don't tell the whole story explicitly because it is either apparent or give the viewer just enough direction so the entirety of the story resonates with the viewre's imagination, creating a unique response.
Sorry if I can't make it any clearer, this kind of feeling seems natural to me so I find it hard putting it into words.
>>3298553
>Not seeing the correlation between Otterton's involvement with the nighthowler case and the implied reunion of N&J's immortal souls
are you even trying
>>3298625
Fair enough, but I'd say theres a difference between explaining everything in a story and just continuing the story.
That doesn't necessarily mean it NEEDS continuing, but at the same time it doesn't mean it would automatically be bad to continue it.
>>3298659

I think the argument is about the makeup of their character, not physical similarities.
Anons were creating a parallel between the Souls story and Bunanon's attack.
Artorias <3 Ciaran, Bun <3 Red
Artorias set up by the abyss, Bun attacked by the wolves
Artorias succumbs to the dark, Bunanon loses her resolve and abandons the relationship
Ciaran and Red mourn, blaming themselves for what happened.

I'd argue the fic where Nick kills Judy but Bellweather is still caught is more depressing.
In this series, everything is so 110% fucked that there is nothing to keep you invested; everything that can go wrong does, to the point that you can't take it seriously.
In the fic, however, all the other characters get a happy ending. Bellweather is arrested, Mr. Otterton adn all the other animals are cured and reunited with their families, the day is saved, everyone is happy...except for two mammals. Judy is dead, and Nick is trapped in the hospital on constant suicide watch. There's contrast, like >>3298957 says. So many mammals have been rescued from the terrible fate that could have been, yet the one story we wanted most to turn out alright has been completely destroyed. We understand why Nick wants to kill himself. We understand that sometimes having everything else go right doesn't make up for the shit that still goes wrong. That is a truly tragic love story, and that is why I feel it cuts so much deeper than any other piece of ZTP art.
>>3298976
Well, maybe. Their plan was to get caught. If they hadn't thought of it, they probably would have attempted to split up, Nick trying to escape with the evidence and Judy trying to distract them and buy time.

Actually, they would have avoided that fate anyways. I mean, they DID hide the pellet on their own person, and a bioterrorist that uses a cutout to do her own evil deeds is not going to have incriminating evidence on her person.
If she *had* checked the gun, they would have either been at an impasse or she would have had to come up with some other way to arrest them and get them out of the way before Judy called 911 herself.

On one hand, I do wanna see more
On the other hand, where is right now works just fine as an ending, and for all we know whatever is written for it after might be less satisfying.
So I dunno whether I want it to end here or keep going.
Though on one hand I kinda got the urge to write a sequel to it where Nick becomes a cop in Judy's memory. If I weren't already working on a fic, I probably would go for it.

>>3298216
All good questions worth exploring... So the point of inception? Probably a lot of possibilities. What I'm personally thinking, is it more or less began as a silly dare that snowballed into something massive.
Being as slick and smug as he is, I've always found it fair to assume Nick has never had any problems catching tail throughout his adulthood. He's probably never intentionally sought any emotional relationships due to his trust issues, but picking up vixens here and there, showing them a good time, and walking away from the night *thoroughly* satisfied? It must be one of the easiest kinds of hustle. Finnick on the other hand? Probably had a much harder time in that regard. I mean, his troubled attitude isn't doing him any favors to begin with, and he's a fennec to boot; literally the smallest species of the canid AND vulpes classes. Even those 'cute' bunnies stand taller. He's got the short end (hah) of the dating stick, and he suffers for it. Yet one more addition to the tall pile of reasons for him to harbor various sparks and specks of resentment and envy toward Nick.
(to be continued, this is turning out longer than I thought)
>>3299303
There's always someone saving something anon.

>>3298837

>>3299338
(cont.)
So imagine one regular night in the van, after another day of hustle and bustle. A usual mix of banter and drinks, except Finnick is a little more irate than usual, and Nick can't seem to shut up about this vixen from the other day. Finnick is pissed enough to call him out on it, and can't help but complain about his position; Anytime Nick gets an urge, he can talk some floozy into accompanying him. Finnick on the other hand, has had to make due with his left paw, almost every time. So, spurred a little by the booze, Nick smugly offers his paw instead for a change; It's not really an offer made out of sympathy, as much as it's a dare to further tease the fennec. Finnick naturally shoots him down, but that only means getting more goading sass from Nick. On any other night, at least one of them would be too drunk or too sober to ever seriously go through with this...
...But this night, they're both sloshed at *just* the right amount.
Finnick eventually calls the bluff, and Nick proves to be a fox of his word. It's just a playful handjob, delivered by Nick in an air of gentle but friendly mockery; It's fun to see Finnick all the more flustered than usual, after all, pressed against his lap like that as the larger fox whispers down teasingly at those big ears throughout the ol' reach around. Finnick is angry enough to talk back, but he's clearly having too good of time from the service he's receiving to call it off.
(almost done)

>>3299303
Yeah, I kind of like the couple, even if it is terrible, so I've got all kinds of bits saved about it.
>>3299366
(yep, last bit)
And that's really how it all begins. They don't talk or discuss the matter the day after, but before the week is over, either one of them drops a hint at a encore on another night, and it slowly evolves from there. It's really an unspoken arrangement; Nick probably wouldn't be *too* uncomfortable to talk about it between the two, but Finnick certainly isn't. He's beginning to like it and want more, but he can't really say it in a clear, irrefutable manner. It's always innuendo and subtlety. But thankfully, he doesn't have to anyway; Nick is sly enough to pick up on the coded discussion, and he's okay with it.
And so over the years, it rolls from a relatively innocent 'pawjob' to more and more, as Finnick discovers more about what he likes in the sack, and Nick happy to (smugly) indulge.
Now as for where it all goes once Judy enters the picture, well that's something to ponder on yet. I personally like WildeHopps and really wouldn't want it disintegrated, but still, it does feel a little too tragic to just break the fox pair up. Whichever way Nick and Finnick are both willing to define it, it's certainly a bond neither would be happy to just cut off like that.

I can't really imagine Nick becoming a cop after this incident, he would probably never be accepted by the other officers. However I could imagine him becoming a firefighter or paramedic, a job Judy would still be proud of
>>3299475
maybe
>>3299531
Well Bogo at least recognized it wasn't his fault, and I'm sure he would tell his men exactly how it is.
But even so I agree, at least some of the officers would still blame Nick Im sure.
>>3299531
He becomes a detective. Private dick Nick.
>>3299513
neither do we
>>3299551
Well theres a difference between detective and private detective.
Besides PIs mostly just look for like white collar crime and cheating husbands.
>>3299547
Bogo acknowledged that he was innocent but he probably wouldn't be happy with Nick basically replacing the officer he killed

>>3299567
Literally everything here is horrible and wretched and a bloated sexual facsimile of a gisnep film aimed at children and furries.
I love it.
>>3299593
Surely he'd understand why Nick might want to though.
Especially if he did well at the academy. Bogo still has to replace Judy, might not be bad to do it with someone who really understood what she was about

>makes her chase him when he steals her hat/notepad/carrot pen/etc
>foxes are primarily nocturnal, so he harass Judy when she's trying to sleep

But only with Judy
True that, very confident
Heey, thats pretty good!
>>3299697
Wouldn't exactly make much sense without a lot of rewrites though. They came to an understanding before setting off to finish the case. What could Bellwether possibly do to turn them against each other?

Bellweather wouldnt have a spare dart. All of them were destroyed in the train
>>3299643
In this world, its Knot or be Knoted.
>>3299757
>>3299722
Yes. Earlier versions of the night howler serum didn't make their victims go rabidly aggressive, so much as reduce them to a feral state where their most base instincts just overruled all other impulses. In that draft of the movie, there was going to be a scene where Nick gets poisoned, but his instinct to protect Judy overrode all other impulses.
Well it didn't make the final cut at any rate. Probably felt a little too sappy.
>>3299757
Well yeah, in the old version it WAS primal instincts
But in the final version, it just makes you go berserk. Hence the story about Judy's uncle biting the fuck out of her mom
>>3299780
Eh, kinda doubt that she didn't have her own cache of darts.
>>3299821

>>3299821

>>3299606
I think a better end is Nick coming back to the facility and requesting that Bellwether put Nick under the influence of the Nighthowler serum. He's completely unable to cope with life in a world that hates him almost as much as he does.
>>3299889
my apologies, I hope you appreciate Dawn's markmanship, if not motivations, in full then.
>>3299958
It is quite impressive. But from a narrative perspective, it seems obvious that she probably wasnt the one shooting the preds. She just organized the sheep.
>>3299982
of course, but even if plot-driven I think it unintentionally adds depth to the character because we both know how much effort it takes to get this good.
>>3299844
Dude, she bullseyed Nick. There's no way she made that shot without practice. Besides, I doubt someone who's worked so hard on a master plan would leave anything up to chance, like her being unable to use the very thing she's based her plan around.

>>3300021
She's literally a terrorist mastermind. Part of the deal of being a terrorist mastermind is that you don't have anything tying you to the people carrying out your attacks. You have cutouts, go-betweens. Layers separating you from the people who actually take the shots. Think of her like a mafia don: if that don was having people killed with a very specific kind of gun, the don would never actually carry any ammo for that gun so he can't be linked to it.
>>3300079

I'm not gonna lie, usually shit like this makes me cry bitch tears, but Interstellar didn't really do much for me personally. Aside from the visuals of the alien planets and Matt Damon, I didn't really care for it much.

>Honey hires a few rams to jump her so she can entertain a guilty fantasy of hers.
>>3300199
>>3300128
I really liked it. It had a lot of powerful, tense moments without forcing them.
Probably my favorite scene is the 'docking' scene. The tension as Damon's character destroys the ship, the horror as it spirals away from view, all of this happening in complete silence. The suspense as you realize what Cooper is planning, keeping you on the on the edge of your seat for the full 3 minutes of the scene.
Fucking visual masterpiece.

that's the few frames where his angry mask falls away and you can see just how hurt and betrayed he feels. Another small detail that adds to the emotional power of this scene is how long it takes Judy to make eye contact with him again, a full 4-5 seconds. She's ashamed that he's right.
Someone post the cap of anons analyzing the fuck out of this scene, I've seen it before.

I also love how the color just drains out of the scene. Compare the lighting before Judy takes the podium to afterwards; it's just so much duller.
The light has literally gone out of their lives.

He probably has an idea for both already.
As much of a degenerate as I am for this, I need help finding a fic.
One where nick is hit with the nighthowler bullet and everyone thinks he killed judy. He didn't and finds her undercover.
>>3300554
there is nothing wrong with including sex in your stuff, but you can either use it to instantly grab attention despite low skill threshold (looking at certain someone), but implemented gracefully it's a great storytelling tool.
Anyway, everyone can write lewds. It is creating an art that takes talent. Do it, anon.
>>3300569
That sounds terrible.
"Hey Nick, sorry we made everyone think you're a murderer and effectively ruined your life. But we didn't want to risk telling you I was still alive."
>>3300532

>>3300640
>>3300595
Ya it was a bit depressing. Nick ends up hustling again to keep his mind occupied and finds Judy working undercover with a new identity(not with the ZPD, they think she's dead too). Last time I saw it, there was a bit of a cliffhanger.
>>3300656
don't be passive-aggressive, you're the one who doesn't want to challenge himself and seeks instant gratification instead.
>>3300682
Last I remember it was in a flashback, like it went back to before Judy even drove to the city after learning about nighthowlers
>>3300656
I'd personally prefer 'some' violence like you mentioned, and non-rape personally.
>>3300689
Obviously what I want to do tonight and what you think I should want to do tonight don't line up. I don't really think that it's a big deal.
>>3300703
I think the chapter you're talking about is where it ends with her contacting the mayor about needing help.
The chapter after that, she is kidnapped and given a proposal by Bellwether to have her keep the nighthowler bullet in the gun, replace her with a bunny that was recently killed, and fake her death.
>>3300748
Nice attenot at reverse psychology, though I was merely asking what you're up to tonight and you were all too eager to give a complete answer.
