She didn't waste her breath. Painful minutes of silence cut like a knife.

At around 3:30 Judy feel asleep Nick still begging at the door. Twisted dreams of pleasant walks with Nick festered in her mind. She knew that she loved a person she could never be happy with.

Judy woke up at midday the breeze from her open window tickling her awake. She quickly got dressed as she came up with an escusse to placate Bogo. She rushed out her door only to trip over Nick. He lay on the ground looking up despondently at the grimy ceiling.

"Heyyhh, Hopsh called in sick for you today." he reeked of cheap booze and what seemed to be a whole bottle of perfume. It was the perfume she wore the night of their first date as a joke. He actually remembered after all those years. But he called in sick for her. She was proud about her perfect attendance and Nick knew that all to well.

"MOVE." That came out harsher than she planned.

Something changed in Nicks eyes. Even through his drunken sleepless stupor he knew she hatted him. Nick got up and just walked away head bowed. Judy felt even worse now.

What is the point of this story? It starts out with a somewhat intriguing premise. Nick spends some time growing up alongside Judy in Bunnyburrow, then heading off to Zootopia to follow his own dreams. Some years later, Judy joins the ZPD and tries to catch up with him after falling out of contact.

Now, you might expect that would have some impact on the timeline. The Nick and Judy dynamic could start out differently. Maybe we'd see some interesting divergences and changes to the movie plot.

You know, a worthwhile offering.

No, apparently the author got really fucking lazy. Maybe they wanted to trick people into thinking they actually had a vision. Or, hell, maybe they tried for one chapter and realized that AUs require a little effort. Because almost every chapter after that is a scene-by-scene transcript of the movie. Any story tweaks are completely inconsequential and change nothing. The plot and character reactions are beat-for-beat the same as the movie. Judy's internal dialogues about Nick are meaningless because nothing. Fucking. Changes.

The tragedy is that this fic isn't hard to read. The author's got a decent grasp on grammar and formatting (only after the first few chapters, granted). But holy shit, is it not worth anyone's time. And of course it has to be one that updates the most.
