Is it just me who feels bad for Kazerad?

I mean, yes, the comic has been gone for a crazy long time, but Kaz has stated multiple times that it's not actually them who is causing the delay, but because of other people who were involved in developing the update having their own issues. I see no reason to not believe this. Kaz doesn't seem like the lying sort or anything like that. Misguided in terms of his belief in other people, MAYBE, but not a liar.

Some people are kinda pissed after donating to kickstarter or patreon or whatever, but again, more comics was never outright promised or anything. That's what Kaz wanted to happen, but it aint happening right now.

Kaz was working on the comic for ages before there was any money coming to them, and there's a genuine passion in the work. They never had to make jack shit for anyone, and the whole thing is free to view, but people seem to be acting extremely entitled. I mean, yes, it sucks to have to wait this long, but an update is still (most likely) coming (though I am well aware of how this is a hard thing to believe and can't be truly proven, especially after what happened with Episode 3).

Kaz puts up with a lot of people acting really shitty, and puts up with a fuckload of degeneracy without being judgemental or whatever. Whenever they make an appearance (if it really is them, which again, a lot of the time I believe because of the original stuff posted), they seem nothing but polite, even in the face of people shitflinging towards them.

The comic/art is great. I really don't see why people hate to hate a person so much, considering no actual promise was ever made that more comics would be posted, and that an update (most likely an enormous one) is probably still coming.

I mean, if I'm wrong, I'm all ears as to why, but so much of the complaining I see doesn't seem like an appropriate reaction to what's really happening here.

No more than I would anyone else. I feel bad for him in the sense that he clearly keeps biting off more than he can chew, and also he can't cook without damn near killing himself apparently, but that's about the same level of emotion I would reserve for the guy who lives across my street.

At this point he could just say he's quitting and probably nobody would even really be too put out about it. He could make a clean break and do anything else with his time, so I assume he's still doing it because on some level he enjoys it.
As for people acting shitty, well, that's pretty much the way the internet works nowadays, and I find it hard to muster some emotion at all about it.

So if he keeps working on it and he says he's doing fine, I guess I'm happy he's doing something he enjoys.

I feel a little bad for him with his terrible luck at hiring flaky artists/programmers. But at the same time not, for the art part mainly. He could have just done that himself in this amount of time instead of shifting the blame on the artists. Its not like we're expecting a certain art style for these parts of the flash, I'm guessing they're gonna be cut-scenes.

I actually gave Kaz money for his crowdfund. I don't feel jewed, I got my stuff. Though it was later than he thought it was gonna take. The merchandise was another big reason for this update delay; since Kaz thought he could package and mail everything himself instead of hiring a company to do it for him. No faster updates were promised, just hinted that since he'd have money he'd have more free time to work on the comic. I really just wanted to give him some cash instead, but he seems to be the "I don't want your money without giving you something in return!" types. At least the tapestry is pretty bitchin', its actually something I have in public that doesn't make me look like a huge furfag, just a nerd, unlike the shirt/patches/stickers. Katia candy was good too.

I do like Kaz for his involvement in his community, no matter how shitty and cancerous its getting due to the hiatus. And a content creator with thick skin is very rare these days (though if he'd just make regular comic content again!). The comic was a very entertaining read when it updated. A shitty day turned to a good one when I had a new update to read.

Overall, I guess I'm just disappointed that Kaz continues to bite off more than he can chew. And I really hope he just returns to regular updates. I've been reading since 2011, the flash updates are fun for a few days but you completely forget about them when the next update comes. They're never really worth the wait, especially one that's gonna take two years.

When I said he jumped ship, I'm basing that off of his history. He hasn't updated for nearly 2 years as I said. Just speaking from a motivational point of view, he doesn't seem very invested. Like I've said before, Kaz has proven to be the most genuine person I've ever met. Not only does he have no reason to lie, I really don't think he would. Kaz talks in a way that is meant to please people as much as possible without directly lying. He doesn't engage if there's not net profit in the interaction. If someone's calling his ass out on something and he can't defuse it, he will simply ignore it.

These are not the actions of a genuine person. They're the actions of a habitual manipulator. If Kaz was genuine and also exactly as he portrays himself, he'd actually take the advice he constantly gets ("stop replying to threads and just do the work yourself!"; etc) and would be more open to just outright accepting blame instead of mitigating it. To receive positive affirmation though one has to take his art seriously, to show the world the limits of their skill and to admit that they tried—to receive a compliment one has to ask the world 'am I good enough?' first—thus leaving themselves vulnerable.
Due to one's insecurity, receiving negative affirmation when you were expecting the positive kind can be really hurtful. It follows then that these goreposters would focus on creating shocking imagery so when they eventually get the negative reaction they were hoping for, they can proclaim that their plan worked. For them, drawing castration and infestation images is much safer than drawing earnestly because it is not a gamble.
