I have no idea if it's unpopular or not but I tried not to talk about it since more meta was the last thing those threads needed but /vld/'s double standards for what characters/ships are okay to post about is fucking stupid and it's ridiculous how much you have to tiptoe around a subject if tumblr likes it if you don't want a derail. There are characters and ships that get spammed all the time that conveniently never get called out when people bitch about how uppity some group is getting, even in this thread because people don't like to admit the groups they're part of can be shit sometimes too but still want to complain when something they don't like comes up too much. It just seems silly to me that we need to include disclaimers in the first place when I've always seen canon as irrelevant in shipping which is something most of us do for fun on the side, or at least that was my impression. I think at this point it's also a bunch of vocal ones like with the Kallurafags. Keith and Shiro have traditional love interests if they want to go that way, making any of the Garrison trio gay is also inconsistent with their portrayal so far. I like Shiro more then Sendak, mostly because we've gotten more material on him to like, and because completely de novo fanon isn't my thing, nor are actual donut steels. I can't Ken Penders it up. But I do enjoy Sendak a lot too, and he's my favorite of the villains, mostly because of his competence and being the only one they've really bothered to flesh out.
I can't imagine a fully consensual romance happening between them given Shiro's circumstances, and have never liked idealized lovey dovey shit anyway, but I do enjoy stories that deal with knowingly less-than-perfect romantic relationships where both parties know how fucked up the relationship is, but settle because one or both has no choice, or because it's still better than nothing. Stuff like Gunjo and Killing Stalking fascinate me.
I've always been drawn to Hydra Trash Party stories, mostly because it's an outright rule that you have to recognize these kinds of things as unhealthy instead of glossing over it or romanticizing it a la things like Twilight or ABOshit. But I've always much preferred the fics that focused more on the psychological aspects than just straight-up PWP smut for that reason.

I don't get the appeal of trans art. I'd rather they just straight up gender swap. I have a couple of genderswap Lance/Galra arts saved. I'm not a Lancewfag, but nice art is nice art. There's that one artist who draws the overly ethnic Shiro and Keith (and the ugly as sin Sendak) who does trans Sheith art. So many things I loath, all in one.

I don't seek them out, but I actually don't mind transfic as long as it's not cake-and-eat-it-too cuntboy fetishism or a thin excuse for girls to self-insert as male characters in porn. Clitjobs and strapons are usually OK.
There was a fic from another fandom I read where the main character was trans, but I actually liked it because fic is super rare to begin with for that fandom and that particular ship so I can't be picky, and the trans character made it a rule that the other guy can't penetrate him and had to get him off in the "traditional" way by sucking him off.

There's one trans Shance artist I kinda like. They seem pretty chill and do draw a mix of stuff including cis Lance porn, but when they do draw trans Lance they usually point out whether or not he's had various kinds of sex reassignment surgeries or HRT treatments, which is a level of self-awareness and dedication to anatomical realism I don't usually see from people who draw trans porn.

Why does Shiro look like a pacific islander rather than someone from Japan. Why does Sendak look like a combination of a hamster and a cat. The artist can say it's just their style, but those faces are completely different from a reference.
