In the Catskills region of new york state there's a village called Big Indian. I always thought that was an odd name for a municipality so I did some research into it and found that at one time there was a lenape native american who had a cabin in that area. He was well known in the region because he was freakishly tall, almost 7 feet. Because of that everyone called him big indian.

Unfortunately he met a bad fate, because a white woman from the nearby town of Marbletown started living with him, and a man from the town she had rejected organized a lynch mob that murdered him. Horrifying.
