Yo furries... do mediocre non-ero furry Patreons get big? Could I make US$4000 by doing mediocre cute 2D and 3D furry art that isn't nude or additional fetish?

Or would I be better off doing shitty 2D/3D furry fetish art?

Can I just make a Fur Affinity and upload art and then link my Patreon and suddenly get money?
>>
You can make some money but only if you run your patreon like a small business. From what I've heard from successful (self-sufficient) artists they're spending 8-10 hours a day working from home, with a 60:40 split of dealing with customers, building/maintaining their websites, creating brand awareness and advertising to actual art. They also stress that consistency is key and you need to be posting one or two complex finished pieces a day, or multiple simple commissions.

It's not completely necessary to draw porn, but you are going to have much more difficulty getting visibility without it. You're probably not going to be making $10k for a single commission like some but it's possible to make enough to live off, if that's your goal. If you're looking for easy cash look elsewhere.

If all you do is make an account and upload mediocre art occasionally, with little or no interaction with other users and not keeping up with whatever flavor of the month fanart is popular at the time, you'll be almost unheard of. Plan for less than 1% engagement, meaning if you have 100 followers only one of them is even going to /consider/ giving you money, the rest are only there for the free stuff.
>>
This reminds me of one guy at Inkbunny who patreonwalled almost all his posts even though his art was mediocre and he had like 400 watchers. No surprise that he only had one backer.

Can't remember the name though...
>>
>non-ero paywalltreon

Unless you're making games or animations or something, good luck
>>

>>11280179
You know that people don't HAVE to put their content behind paywalls, right? You can get money from people while still releasing everything for free.
>>
>>11280087
So you're saying I can make 10k a month from making MLP/ sonic/ diaper models each day, nice.

Lol I've never done furry art but I need money bad.

>>11280169
that sounds like half of FA , the other half eventually goes puritan and deletes everything

>>11280179
How much could I make if I just put physics on shitty characters with tits and animal ears?

>>11280287
can't stand this shit, I tend not to support those artists, but I especially don't support the ones who hide how much they get per month/ post.
>>
>>11280624
>I can make 10k a month from making MLP/ sonic/ diaper models each day

No.
You're late in the patreon train, the big earners either already had a following before opening one or were there from the start.
>>
>>11281326
Fuck. Maybe I need to invent a new fetish and rake in cash before more talented people get in on it.
>>
>>11281672
Anything with blue fur, a dick, and soda can nipples. appeals to both straights gays and bis
>>
Is there a way to do a Patreon right? Most opinions I hear are very negative, but I want to support myself with my art. I want to do something I actually give a shit about for a living.

I've got plans laid out, and I'm going to give it a shot. I need some opinions of what would actually make you give a $1, $5, or $10 a month while also releasing a large part of my work for free.

>>
>>11283575
If you want the respect of non-autistic people, use it as a tip jar with maybe just timegating the images a week or two.

If you want to make money, whore it and significantly reduce the amount of free art you make. Only works if you have a following already.
>>
>>11279829
If you're a cute girl, you can just post bikini and nude pics of yourself on Patreon for cash.
>>
>>11280087
I upload art or animations almost every day and I have been drawing for about 5 years, I have almost 2k followers on tumblr and almost 3k on inkbunny, and my patreon barely gets any attention just because I'm not an asshole and I never put my content under a paywall
>>
>>11284938
You don't have to paywall anything, just give patrons early access like a month or two early.
>>
No matter what you do, if you don't have a big enough following then you arent making big bucks on patreon
>>
>>11284759
I am and have thought about that shit, stuff like lonely straight men paying to play online games with me. even if I was willing to do it, I'm shit at building fans. Guess patreon wouldn't work any better
>>
>>11286136
All you really have ot do is post a link to your patreon every now and then. Fans will come to you.
>>
>>11279829

Not really.

At best, if you network hard and pander you'll get maybe 1k a month.

These people that make thousnds through porn art or comics? They have been popular for years. Most of their patreon is thousands of donors donating small sums, like afew bucks at best.

Then you have patreon's cut.

But hey, might help you get a cup a coffee a month.

Goddamn, this thread makes being an artist for a living seem hopeless. If furries won't buy your art, no one will.
>>
>>11296631
It IS hopeless unless you're willing to pander to a particular audience that is ripe with disposable income. This is why we have the term "starving artist" and not like "starving welder"
>>
>>11296631
You can always show us your art/animation. If its good than you will get people who would pay for it, and make sure you have a video planned you don't get much of those.
>>
>>11298044

Is animating a good edge to have? I think I already draw and paint well but my animation is lacking a little.
>>
>>11298044
>If its good than you will get people who would pay for it,

There are patroners who spend much more for crappier furry art.
>>
>>11298901
I don't have a patreon nor am I a good artist but in comparison to someone who just draw a still image, just a gif or did a animated video of said characters getting fucked. I'll go with the animated video.

>i-its just because I'm not an asshole popufur!
>>
>>11298956
Mind sharing link? Because your definition of crap might be different to others.
>>
>>11298901
only as a hobby or fun thing. worthless as a career at least for me. maybe it's better if you have a solid style in 2D or find the right niche, but I used to do 3D.
>>
>>11301279
Isn't 3d good for a career since it's in demand
>>
I've love to write and have been thinking about pursuing posting free stories with an open tip jar. No paywalls since I think thats an asshole move.
I am not looking to make big bucks. Honestly I just want to cover my $500 rent or $40-80 groceries every month to make my life a little easier and get a couple bucks doing what I enjoy. Do you think this is even remotely feasible or do you think patreon only cares about visual art. Am I fucked from the get go? I am also willing to do fanfics, furry writings, and smut if thats what I have to do. I just want to write and never stop.
>>
>>11302518
I never seen any one tha used patreon for writing related so I guess your bfto
>>
>>11302026
not really sure. I don't do realistic stuff, maybe that's what's in demand for huge fx movies. Never had the right connections (internships or whatev) to get in at a big studio like Dreamworks/ Sony/ Blue Sky. Plus those shitshows have giant layoffs every 2-4 years which means all the people better than you are looking for a job too.

still, all the competition and insulting pay, undercutting to stay in business, freelance even worse. I fucking hate that industry.

Would they really be resentful if it was just writing and a tip jar instead of paywalls. If I putting stuff out there for free then there is no commitment for them to contribute anything

Also do you think it would be internet writing suicide to combine furry shit writings and more normie shit together? It would suck to have to spilt followers but do you think people would actually boycott you for doing both if they don't know your real face?

inb4 yes because the internet and people are evil

how much money can you charge people for good art?

Boogie's method is a good balance of fairness and profitability I think. Same with LM.

But it's easier to just bite the bullet and go full paywall slut. If your name isn't already known or you're not making some insane quality stuff, you're in for an uphill climb no matter what.
>>
>>11302518
Just get a part time or full time job. It will cover your rent, probably more. And you'll still have time to write fanfics.

>>11308352

How would you go about setting up stories provided for free with the intent of using it as a tip jar?

Would you just post PDFs that you modify as no-edit and then keep the patreon to $1

Sorry I am trying to wrap my head around how this all works together. Currently reading patreon and articles but some of it doesn't answer deeper questions

If you decided to be a furry writer or regular writer on patreon what do you all think would be the best way of advertising your stuff without being IN YOUR FACE. What would be the best outlets to have an audience or announce new stuff?

>Is there a way to do a Patreon right?
There's a problem with artists polluting the fur commons and ruining the community. The atmosphere when commissions and vending were the preferred revenue streams was a quiet street. Now it's crowded with sandwich boards in the way, noise, and garbage. Every time I go search for "spread pussy" I'm greeted with:

- Teaser crops and censoring Patreon watermarks over the sexual areas, low resolution "free" versions that are so blurry they aren't worth looking at, art degradation, obnoxious watermarks
- Endless streaming notifications, YCH advertising, and flat out Patreon shilling with no artistic value
- People who don't warrant a paywall spamming advertising for things few would be interested in for free
- People changing their content to provide the same over saturated kinks that sell (dickgirls with hydrant sized horse dicks, hyper tits/ass taffy people, etc).

Don't do that. Patreon is a tip jar. If you have to monetize then at least try and limit it to a time delay. A week, a month, 6 months, it doesn't matter. Full paywalling creates a tragedy of the commons. Don't make this an extortion racket for the mentally ill and those living on disability who don't know any better.

TL;dr
Furry porn became another television; repetitive low value content and advertising for the masses. GOOD content is now drowned out by soliciting garbage to the point it's a waste of time. Don't waste everyone's time in hopes they give you money.

Artistic integrity doesn't get patreon support. If it did, shit like Peachypop wouldn't be pulling 3k+/mo by tracing other peoples' art.
