It does and it shows when she THINKS she trusts Nick, but ends up nearly pulling the repellant on him.

But the difference is Judy had a reason to go around and reassess things. She had a reason to fight her demons for Nick. And by the end of the story she does. By the end of the story, Judy does loose her fear of Nick. (bite on the neck scene)

Seeing that Nick had no reason to fight his demons before meeting Judy (since he was still hounted by that memory) we can assume that he still felt the same way about things by the end of the movie.

So anything that suggest Nick not being hounted by the memories of that childhood trauma just simply doesn't acknowledge the existance of that very possible problem. Just like, for example, borba doesn't acknowledge that Judy's character development wouldn't lead her to pursue career.

You just twist the character the way you want him to be, instead of how he most possibly is like.

Personally, I was never completely on board with the whole "Gideon was insecure because he was gay" idea; it is certainly a possibility, but I thought it was more likely that Gideon had identity issues because he was a fox. On one hand, he was probably told he would only be a no good, cheating fox. On the other hand, Gideon is almost the complete opposite of what a stereotypical fox would be like; where a fox is normally seen as slim, sly, and smart, Gideon is big, blunt, and dumb. So you have these two conflicting identities forced on Gid, and then you have these other kids who want to be something unique to their species (a sheep astronaut, a bunny cop), and it is easy to see why he bullied them.
