If real ones are too heavy you should try a sculpt type clay like model magic or sculpty. I've used MM for horns about 7" long and they weighted almost nothing, but did chip at the base a few times, idk why tho.

Why come to 4chan for advice then? I think that's just a bad idea, considering that you should have expected people to ask for evidence/photos of your work. People won't want to help you if you're just going to be on the offense.

Your current issue, if you want my honest advice, is that you're restricting yourself as a business by limiting your social media outlets. A lot of people here actually do want suits, and if you're as cheap but quality as you say, you could easily have a lucrative business here.

I guess make a fursuit business account on Facebook, Furaffinity, Twitter, Instagram; whatever.
Make sure you have them all connected, and make them easy access.
Make premades, sell them on Furbuy or theDealersDen.
Hold a raffle. People love free shit.

To get yourself out there, you need to have examples. You need to be constantly posting. Whether it's WIPs, designs, or whatever; keep your accounts active.

I hope this helps in some way, as someone who owns several suits and knows a lot about the fursuit craft and its business.

The original post was really just me letting off some steam and asking cuz I expected a few quick replies about social media optimization. I didn't expect people to get pissed at me about it. About $250-500 for a partial, depending on demands. Normally around $300 for head + gloves.
Full suits are probably gonna run between $600 and $800, it increases from price there depending on if you want something special like digitigrade feet. The most expensive I'd be comfortable charging would probably be $1000 and that'd be a complete custom job, multi-color, patterns, head adornment, digitigrade feet (with stilts), changeable magnetic ear-rings, face rings, etc. as requested, changeable magnetic eyebrows for expressions, moving jaw that responds to jaw movements, sound box, machine washable, etc. basically anything you want at that price. I'll also make you a generic stand-alone tail with belt mounting loops for about $20+shipping.

All those prices include cost of materials, but not shipping. You pay shipment yourself once I box and weigh it. for a partial it's normally not more than 25, I tend not to do international orders as once I shipped to UK and it ended up costing like 200 bucks after customs fees.

I do payment plans but require half up front as a show of good faith and to pay for materials. I take paypal and bitcoin, though no one has paid me in bitcoin yet.

I don't glue on parts, I don't leave tape under the fur after patterning, I brush and shave/trim all the fur as needed to make sure it's neat and will stay that way for a long time, everything that can be sewn is sewn and double stitched. My suits are built to be machine washed (except the head, for obvious reasons of it being too big/unwieldy) and very breathable. I will do murrsuits/adult themed suits but those obviously cost extra just due to the fact that they need to be made differently and in a way that your sweat and bodily fluids aren't going to ruin them after a couple of uses.

When I was starting out I did Toon style, (easier to get your foot in the door with the simplified and exaggerated shapes) but I've been moving into a more semi-realistic style lately, kinda similar to pic related. (not my work just an example of what I think it looks similar to)

I think you're right though, a lot of my work can look generic, It's not that I'm unwilling to do over the top designs though, it's just not what I ever get asked for. The big take away I'm getting from this thread is that I need to scrape together some money and do some example works that showcase the best of my ability.

Exposed unfinished edges, uneven trim work, fur glued to the plastic. Nose is off-center, fur is the cheap kind. blending on nose stripe and cheek stripe show signs of it being glued in to a cut in the fur rather then sewn.

There's nothing wrong with generic, considering how hard it is for some makers to stay original. Whenever something new appears in the fursuit game, it's immediately over saturated; The magnetic eyebrows/expression changing suits, any original style (ie Fleecerot), etc.

So it's easier to make something that makes your style yours and unique, or just get really good at something that everyone else messes up on. Digitigrade legs, rare animals like specific reptiles, dog breeds, birds, etc. 3D eyes...

I'm rambling but yeah, make a suit that you'd wanna wear and show it off. Going to meets or cons in them is in a good idea because if you get the "who made your suit" question and you tell them you did, they're gonna wanna know if you take commissions.
Premades also are good for this, as you can sell them, make your money back, and get some reputation

If someone has a good idea it's only natural for others in the field to imitate it. But I understand your point of over-saturation of specific styles. A alternate take on this problem:
The idea of having the costume be more you than you are wouldn't bother me in the slightest. I don't like how I look much at all, and while makeup and the like could hypothetically fix that somewhat (as a guy, not going to happen at any regular though even if I wanted to) there's only so much that can be done to change how you look without invasive surgery and other less than pleasant measures. Yea I could get /fit/, but that's not going to help much if the base frame's not to my liking, and nothing to facial structure.
With making my own full body outfit, I get to pick entirely how I look to other people (within reason to pre-existing body proportions) purely by my own hand. If I then don't like something on the costume, I change it so I do like it. It's the difference between being landed with whatever you're stuck with from birth vs making the outward self exactly how you want the outer self to be by your own choice.
This only applies if you make your own outfit though, and maybe to a certain extent commissioned suits depending on how limited it might of been by the limitations of the builder.
My current outfit's getting on a bit now and I'm currently in the logistics planning stage of how / what I want it to look / work. No pics though 'cause it was huge lump of compromises, parts designed for one thing that were modified to another thing and attached unoptimally, and another part technically never finished.
