I think that it has to do with the fact that people see digimons more like character than a species/monster design they can self insert into. I say this because almost every time (not always) I see digimon porn with some sort of story of context the digimon would be their anime counterpart instead of a proper character from the artist/writer which I find weird.

Unlike a dub, there's almost never just one group subtitling a show. It all depends on where you get your subs/subbing group. Also, that's less important than the way the voices sound for many people. English dubs often make characters sound so damn generic. Like pic related, how do you fuck up a nonchalant, smug, and sarcastic cunt? He just sounds like a generic adult man, and too young, in English whereas in Japanese he sounds like a drawling airhead; that instantly gives you insight into what kind of character he is. The annoying thing is, we have actors who could have pulled it off, but dubbers don't want to put the time or money into better casting.
