I too would like more animal-like races in games however unless you fund or make it happen no one is going to go out of their way to make one for you.

Unfortunately there's an overwhelming audience of people that prefer more human looking animal/beast races when it comes to females. This preference shows especially in MMO racial statistics particularly. The people that play the most non-human animal races are a minority by HUGE margins. These same consensus graphs will also show that people are more attracted to play human-like race, especially just humans if offered the option.

You can throw every social whatever argument or justification under the sun as to why these types of races are a minority. Everything from people wanting a racially relatable character, fucking furries, or men not liking their masculinity challenged by a strong opposite gender. At the end of the day none of that matters. Companies only see these number as money signs.

The market for feral or more animal-like races, especially female variants, is too small to make it worth pandering to.

Actually thinking about it, it's interesting to note that the only examples I can think of are games that AREN'T made "these days". Only D&D, Warcraft and similar age-old settings seem to endure, and places like Korea and Japan of course have their own standards and traditions.

As you say, these days it's hardly an issue at all, and in games today the inversion of the trope is as likely or even more likely to be true (Divinity: Original Sin 2 for example, with female lizardfolk towering head and shoulders above everyone else, including male lizardfolk). Most often you'll see no noticeable sexual dimorphism at all, ala. Mass Effect.

What I DO want is more characters like this.
It hit me the hardest in Witcher 3. An otherwise brilliant game, where every single female character is a walking sex symbol, but only, say, half the male characters (Geralt included) are sex symbols.
The game has some excellent characters both of the sex-symbol variety and the not-so-sexy variety, but I think not-so-sexy female characters are a seriously unexplored trope.
