criticism of too much time spent in one place pops up a lot with girl genius (we still get people asking if shes still in the castle), so im sort of wondering: what is it about too much time in one location that drags the story down?
im not trying to be all "oh yeah well whats wrong with it?" and im sorry if i sound that way im genuinely gathering data.

Personally, I never read the thing, but my guess is when the location is fully fleshed out, it just makes the setting boring, bringing the story down.

I haven't read any Girl Genius (only ever heard of it years ago in a mention of webcomics, I think), but I don't think the location matters quite as much as the events taking place there.
The location itself could be just as much of a character as the ones driving the story, changing over time to reflect the mood or narrative.

Oh it's no problem. I understand wanting feedback, even on well-established ideas. If anything, it shows a degree of humility and desire to improve.
And it's not so much that it drags the story down, which is still quite enjoyable, it's just one gets tired of the same scenery for literal years.
Even if you vary scenery properly, a reader comes by in a regular comic thinking "I wonder what happens today? What places might I see?" Anyone who has kept up with Girl Genius since May of 2015 will be thinking "I wonder what madness will happen today..?"
The 2nd question doesn't even become a possibility because they've drawn a variety of vistas streets, libraries, and catacombs all throughout Paris for more than 2 years. And you come to expect it after a while of "Oh hey, streets in Paris look like this" and what have you. It may be the fact it's the current arc, but it feels like it's been this way for longer than any other part. And this comic is 15 some-odd years old.

Yeah, same. Imitation may be the sincerest form of flattery, but it loses the same magic that makes the original so good when you try and replicate the style.

No. Save the Princess' true goal is to have fun. Towergirls is a totally different beast, far more formalized compared to this.
Towergirls is about creating your own story with some premade parts, while STP is about building it almost totally from scratch, maybe with a plot if the artist has one.

If we did, we'd just get booted to /qst/. Save the Princess, is at its heart, having fun via MS Paint fuckery, greentext, and whatever other random ideas that pop into Anon's mind, making them not just fun, but creative exercises as well. Adopting the structure of something else, like a quest, or Tower Girls, at least, on a more permanent basis, makes Save the Princess lose what makes it what it is, and stifles an Anon's creativity, because then they have to adapt to a specific format.

Save the Princess threads are what they are because they can become basically anything, but if you try and have it adhere to a format or structure, or something like that... it's no longer Save the Princess thread.
