This is the danger of allowing namefags to lord over your general. Swear to not cause drama as they might, the very idea of someone having a reputation attached to a name (positive or negative) in close proximity to a generally anonymous platform is enough to upset people who come here to discuss anonymously. The only time I have seen Discord coexist peacefully with a general is the ESO general on /vg/. Because they vilify namefags and avatarfags, and the /tesog/ guilds all have very hands-off leadership, any "good boys club" nonsense is nipped in the bud. The discord channel is used almost exclusively for troubleshooting, ingame meetups, and voice chat for raids.

Unfortunately Bionicle isn't an MMO, so that kind of synergy is basically impossible for /biog/ and its Discord. The best possible outcome is essentially what we have now; two separate modes of communication, frequented by the same people, and tethered together by a central topic, but still ultimately isolated from each other.

Maybe the only problem with TTV is that they are more like "entertainers" now working for a company. Eljay did say that he was effectively "fired" and that his rewievs were "paid for". It may be the same for them as it is with Smosh, those dudes had pretty good videos until their company got bought and started giving out scripts to follow. They too had someone separating from them recently. I think ttvs videos aren't bad separately but god the brickfeed videos are cringe as fuck, you can basically hear them laughing when the script demands it, with minimal freedom.

Now I'm going to be level with you here. I personally post in both. I've been in the discord for a long time, and I've been here in the thread for a year longer. I love our general here and think we ought to continue it, so much as to have posted the OP a couple times. I don't think we should let this thread get choked with dumb discord in-jokes, but at the same time I think its just being a dick to begrudge our threadmates the ability to have personal connections and friendships. Those arent things an anonymous general thread really allows for.

I believe that this tired subject only comes up so much because we're all worried about the longevity of our thread. This isn't a secret, our thread is really, really slow now with bionicle gone. We've had threads last 2-3 weeks in recent months. The only actually active threads we've had these last few months have been Discord Circlejerk threads. Thats not a healthy way to continue and will only intensify this divide you mention. Seriously, if we want the thread to die, the best way is to argue over the existence of the discord forever until both sides are so spiteful of the other that neither posts a new thread.

I did suspect it, that they were the same species. It made sense, though it kills a lot of charms they had, since they seemed so magical and powerful.

He really was.I'm glad we at least got a canon appearence and a toy form for the MoCr. It might've been intended for another universe but it fits Greg's description well, fits Artakha, so it's canon as far as I'm concerned.

The Matoran or the Red Star? The Matoran, I'm fine with them being created (though I liked the more human approach G2 took too).
What I don't like is the "Turaga press a button on a machine and the Matoran comes out" angle, I just find it creepy that these senile robo-people are in charge of making more robo-people. There's something unsettling, and not in a cool way.
I would've preferred if it was Mata Nui who created them all at the beginning of the MU. Nothing indicates that Matoran had to be created during his sleep, there already were plenty, along the other races.

The Red Star, I would've just kept it a mystery, both its nature and its origin. Sometimes things are better if you don't reveal them. But if you really want an answer, I would've made it a simple celestial body of unknown origin that assists Mata Nui. No resurrection stuff and definitely no Kestora. It was one of the first ever Bionicle mysteries and just being soiled like that is infuriating.

Kind of indifferent to it, by late 2009 I really didn't care about Bionicle anymore: the characters I liked were dead or sidelined and the story was taking place in a planet in couldn't care less for, so I just kind of was "Eh, whatever". In retrospective, Teridax being killed like that sounds dumb on paper, but I don't know how Mata Nui could've otherwise defeated him without killing all the people inside in the process. Maybe by entering the "brain" and battling him from within? Maybe that would've happened if we got more sets.

Or they could make smaller shells and bones for the Protector torsos and downsize the line to $10 heroes and villains with $20 Titans like they did back in G1. Honestly the biggest problem is with adding more detail, the figures keep growing. The SW figures have a shitton of interesting design choices but they're fucking gigantic. Smaller shells that are flatter around the sides, smaller gearboxes that utilize old classic 10 tooth gears, smaller torso shells, and maybe just a slightly redesigned small torso bone and they could easily make CCBS a more affordable theme. Hell, even just using the Mixel system and just making a new torso piece with a built in neck stub for minifigure heads. The real problem with CCBS is how big and clunky it is compared to System.
