So, I just watched the opening 5-parter for Challenge of the GoBots.
It's really odd that it actually has a darker tone at some points than Sunbow G1.

>Cy-Kill actually does conquer Earth for weeks, turning Turbo and Scooter into guerillas

He's decent. Has a great altmode but also a very complicated transformation that I don't think is worth it. In hand he feels a little too wide and his cockpit arm never looks right. Articulation is average, and his jet arm is way more limited than his gun one. Of course, his saving grace for me is his Titan master compatibility. He can fit one in his jet arm and replace his own even though it doesn't transform.

I would say if you aren't put off by a balls hard transformation and like the aesthetic, he's good. I'd also recommend Scorn over him given the chance.

Bandai still owns the rights to everything Machine Robo, and by extension the toy designs that would become the Go-Bots
Hasbro meanwhile owns the IP part- that is, the names and characters.

However, since Go-Bots were incredibly toy accurate when animated, they can't make new designs of the show characters so easily. So that's why most if not all Gobots stuff is just name reuse or redecos evocative of the originals.

It's like the whole "Jetfire is a Robotech" thing, only without the Sunbow redesign to fall back on.

Speaking of Go-Bots, requested in a previous thread. Here's artist commentary:

Furthermore, the Transformer models are much more rounded in general and hard edges are defined with color shading as opposed to hard lines for the most part.

The shows were coming out on VHS by the time I was around to watch them, and I rushed to rent the same few my local Blockbuster had to watch again and again. When it's meant to be a poseable figure, I really kind of do. Not having a waist rotation is always ridiculous no matter what size a toy is and the arm articulation is really pathetic. I'd almost excuse the elbows if only because it took quite a while for takara to realize people like 180 degree bends and 90 degree bends were standard, but the shoulders are just awful and have no excuse for it.

He's not that difficult. It took a couple times back and forth to really get a feel for the transformation but everything moves very purposefully and has a place to snap into, it felt intuitive and satisfying to me. I didn't even use the instructions.

Scorn was a bit of a let down. His spines were pre-bent in the box and both modes have a lot of shit just hanging in place without any real securing, his dino mode hips being the worst offender. He's still good but Nitro Zeus takes the wave for me.

I really don't like Voyager Scorn that much, for two main reasons- how cluttered it looks and the shape of the head.

I'd be loathe to say anything from AoE was handled well, but I have to admit the design of the Dinobots was outstanding. The knight aesthetic marks them as both Autobot and yet simpler than their bots in arms with the clean geometric shaped heads and focus on melee weapons.

Really, an ideal Voyager Scorn should have been an upsized Deluxe Scorn, obviously with resized hand/sword and possibly a redesigned Dino neck/head and Dino arms. There's no need to have shitty rows of spines badly folded up on the body when the original splitting single spine made his silhouette so unique. And the head really should have been just a bigger version of the deluxe head, maybe with a bit more detail, not adding some stupid neck protection and ruining the shape of the head.

Most deluxe and lower transformers can use a Tamashii act 4 stand (the one in that pic) a pack comes with 3 stands.

An act 5 is good for bigger stuff (but I only recommend that for kicking poses and the like, having a huge/heavy figure for long periods of time held by the stand could break it.

I feel Season 1 is the overall best since things stay punchy and more grounded even if the plots are more stock "Decepticons are getting energy, Autobots stop them", then Season 2 is more of a slog since it has more episodes and more of the oddball plots ("Starscream makes a mind control disco", "The Autobots star in a movie", "Time Travel to King Arthur land", etc)... and finally Season 3 has the biggest highs and lowest lows overall.

The MP Beast Wars figures look like absolute shit. I don't know what the fuck they were thinking when they decided to make show-accurate bad CGI beast modes. I grew up with beast wars but I have zero interest in toys that look that fucking ugly. The Generations toys like Rhinox and Rattrap look way better.

Besides, all my favorites from Beast Wars were non-show characters anyway. I'd rather have a Generations Razorclaw than an ugly ass MP Dinobot.

The legs and the upper torso could stuff into the abdomen, while the arms can simply run under the spider thorax (which could probably just be formed by her midsection and crotch plate just fine) so the legs are were they need to be and her claws form the mandibles.

I think the biggest compromise would be that she has to have a backpack or kibble to do away with the abdomen in bot mode, there's simply nothing they could do with it. It wouldn't be perfect, but it's not like the other BW MPs are either.

He's the only club figure I own, and only because he showed up in a random ebay search for something else and the buyitnow was only like $12 or so. It really is incredible how much difference paint can make to a mold, these ones pop so much more than the creamsicle-colored orange and white.

I'm guessing it was that Timelines Rampage was such a fucking joke that nobody wanted to get both or either anymore; Depthcharge did so little out of chasing him during BW that it kind of feels wrong to own only one.
Still, Depthcharge is big guy for me so I didn't like that much that they used a lanklet mold like Terradive.

After the con though it was pointless because a con exclusive where you have to destroy the packaging kills the desire for a lot of people.

Which in turn killed prices for the ones that were just in a baggie or plain box.

Pre-ordered LG-Metroplex from Kapow today. I've never really been one for citybots but after really going over it I think Metroplex was/is the best out of the 3 available. I hear his legs are a bit wonky but that's nothing major.

It's a long wait till February though; so in the meantime I've decided to sell off most of my collection and refocus on legends scale figures instead. So far I've got Brawn, Optimus Prime and a few IF figures on the list. What are some other good Legends figures I should be on the lookout for?

I remember during CW the only seeker I could find for a decent price was Skywarp. I'm leaning more towards DX9s Seekers, since they come in a 3 pack and I prefer the F14 look to the raptor one.

CW Shockwave is a must though. I can't believe I forgot about him.

I've been looking at them too. I usually an Iron Factory guy but their seekers are the first Iron Factory figures that I haven't seen constant praise for and in fact have some problems. DX9 is also cheaper.

Go even smaller, minicon small, also get him a Sixgun set, I'd recomend you the TFC set, he can turn into 6(to 10) guns and has a G1 mode.

I feel like I want to sell off most of my MP repaints and only keep my favorite version of each mold. Talk me out of it.
