How do I fix the wonky shoulder for this toy?

I'm not giving you the links lazy, just search for "armada hoist arm fix".

How do I into display case lighting, /tfg/? Tomorrow I will finally be moving my collection from the slumber of cardboard boxes to some proper black Billy bookcases with Morliden glass doors and I would totally love to have them adorned with some LED lights on each of the 40 or so shelves. What are the best ones for the effect, both in terms of practicability when installing and cost-wise considering how much I'll have to light up? Will I have to cut up holes and install a bunch of electricity extensions and stuff for everything to work together?

I would ideally love something like pic related, although it does look like a fairly expensive and complicated setup.

Yes, but aren't they all DIY? As in, you have to actually cut holes inside the shelves and stuff, right? :/

>>

Ugh I wanted to collect them later in, but my Soundwave suffered from horribly gooey roof paint. Some compounds just started breaking down.
>>
What do you use to make 5mm posts for customs? For example, to make Barricade's backpack into a carryable shield or to adapt two female ports?
>>
3p companies make weapon upgrade sets.

What if I make my own but instead of weapons, I make dicks? Transformable dicks that turn into weapons. For combiner teams, the component bot dicks also combine into a huge dick for the combiner.

Would there be enough demand for it?

So /tfg/, I trust your judgement on these things.

I really kind of want to get Superion, but I'm not sure how to approach him. There's a Unite Warriors version going for 156 burgerbucks, but I can get the hasbro version for 99 burgers.

If I go with UW, I get good colors and the collector coin, if I go with Hasbro I get flamboyant colors, the coin, and Air Raid.

Is the figure worth 156 bucks at ALL, let alone for good colors and no air raid?

I wish the toy designers and show makers worked together more often. I love the engineering on Animated toys but I've just never been a fan of the Wyatt style. Sadly, he seems to have been the most passionate man to work on the series just looking at his twitter and the fact that animated had two art books.

If they can't work together, why doesn't Hasbro make the toys first then have the show runners animate them? The movies have shown just how insane the workload can get when you leave studios free to make whatever they want regardless of source material history and intent. That and IDW and RiD15 have ugly looking bots because of how little they look they change into anything.
>>
>>6490037
>>6490038
No, Superion is not worth $250.
>>
You know what we need? A female tank transformer that isn't Strika. I had an idea for a character called Ironsides who turns into a WW2 Panzer and wears most of her tank kibble as an armoured trench coat, though in fairness I have no idea how a toy of that concept could transform and not suck.

If I were doing a custom of her (just using the basic principle of "female tank Transformer" not factoring in the Wehrmacht uniform idea) what would be a good mold to use? I considered 2007 Brawl as he has a fairly "alien" physique and fairly wide hips, so he could possibly pass as a heavily armoured female with a new head. Yes I know you have to mod the shoulder for him to not suck but I can get him cheap.
>>
>>6490037
Well you could probably get the Hasbro G2 boxset for 60 burgers.

>Air Raid
You mean Quickslinger, the repainted "Exclusive"? He's not that "Exclusive" in some places so it's worth searching around first

Nah. I bought it and it's amazing. The black paintjob is one of the best I've ever seen on a transformer, back in a time where people weren't so autistically triggered by paint. The eyes are red, but they have the same issue MP-10 does. It's really easy to disassemble the head and put a coat of paint over them. It's really the only flaw on an otherwise excellent figure.

>>
>>6490037
>>6490038
I would say Superion is worth 100 Burger Stamps if and only if he includes all five limbs and Silverbolt complete. The UW does have better colors, but I don't think they're as polarizing as others like Bruticus or Defensor. The thing about CW figures is they are really basic, so you have to want them for their combining ability. If you are like me and are a sucker for Combiners, then Superion is one of the most worthwhile to seek out, though not for more than $150. If the regular figures have to be really good too, then you might wanna hold off.
>>

I never did like those PE sets. The guns don't look that great, the hands on the early ones look like garbage and the feet were way too big for my liking. The feet on a bot really shouldn't be just as big as it's shins.
>>
>>6490082
A big bot does need big feet, though, especially when his leg joint ratchets are garbage.
>>
>>6490085

Yeah the first hands were awful, I got all repaints from the second version (15 usd KOs from Taiwan), the second hands are pretty nice, the feet might look huge depending on who you use as legs, bots like the helicopters and Groove, but they look fine for most, look at Brawl and Swindle there.

your problem begins here, should have used white ones, if at all.
also BILLY's shelf floors are made of wood, while the one from your pic has glass floors so you'd have to put light into each individual shelf unit.
you can see the problem in your 2nd pic
>>6489875
2nd and 3rd unit from the top down are pretty dark because the shelf floors are made of wood while all the rest are made of glass.
You should have gone for some other glass cases, you know they actually have them (DETOLF, FABRIKÖR), do you?
Both of those have glass floors and the back walls are made of glass as well so it offers the option to put the light units at the back without having to make holes into the cases (which would be very impractical).
FABRIKÖR is pretty pricey, but DETOLF offers a good bang for your bucks (double the price of a BILLY with around half as much room).

>your problem begins here, should have used white ones, if at all
Nah m8, I've taken enough time to compare all sorts of colors and black is certainly what better resonates with my room. I think this was also discussed in another thread but, even though they're obviously better in terms of lighting, there's just something about a white case that looks way too bland and industrial, whereas a color like black or brown can easily blend in with the rest of the decor. Pic related is a good example of black Billy's as a collection display, also using Morliden glass doors.

>the one from your pic has glass floors so you'd have to put light into each individual shelf unit
I did notice that, but the thing is, there are also plenty of pics of Billy's with glass floors (like this one, for instance). Since you seem to know your IKEA stuff, do you have any idea about what kind of glass shelves are these? Also, judging by most pics, putting lights into each individual opaque shelf often looks a little fancier than just having an overhead one, even if it's also more expensive. I wouldn't mind spending extra buckos for that, my main issue here is how complicated this would be to set up.

>you should have gone for some other glass cases, you know they actually have them (DETOLF, FABRIKÖR), do you?
I do have a pair of Detolfs around my storage, actually. They're fine for displaying large solo stuff like MPs and city bots but they're also tiny in terms of space and apparently, you have to modify them to add extra floors. I have about ~500 TFs I want to display without looking like a clusterfuck, so getting three large Billy's plus an extra corner one felt like a better investment in that regard.

>>

>>
>>6490752
Well, after transforming TLK Megs a few times back and forth, I can officially say that I HATE him.

The plastic feel SO cheap, like some bad KO. Also, kibble and bits that fly off everywhere when transforming that constantly need to be put back in. The arm canon gimmick is a minor annoyance too.

But the overall quality is so horrible, I just can't forgive that toy. ESPECIALLY FOR THAT PRICE.

So I'm not exchanging him for another one at TrU. I'll be asking for a FULL REFUND and with the money, I'll just buy TR Leader Overlord at Walmart.

I'll give that leader another chance only if I find him at 20$ at Winners.
Screw you, cheapo TLK Leader Megs.

>>

>why doesn't Hasbro make the toys first then have the show runners animate them

Because coordinating everything is a challenge. Hasbro works a year or a year and a half in advance for their generations line. Animation from planning to broadcast is sometimes much longer than that. They would not only have to coordinate with retailers/broadcasters/animation studios/hasbro internal. It becomes much more a challenge especially now where Transformers is one of their biggest lines and there is interference from various other people within Hasbro as the disaster involving TFP demonstrates where most of the tf design team for T30 were laid off because of the bad sales for PRID.

well all right, 500 TFs is a lot to display. guess you'll have to go with the BILLYs after all.

http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/50286750/
Try these. I wasn't actually aware they offer extra BILLY shelves made of glass.
And if you haven't actually ordered/picked them up yet then maybe ask at your local IKEA if you can strike a deal with them, getting the glass floors instead of the regular ones with just a bit of extra cost because buying them extra leaves you with a lot of additional cost and a lot of wasted regular bottoms.
I bought my BILLY years ago, but they had that modular system back then for the big stuff, instead of picking it into your cart from the store (like you do with smaller stuff) you get a receipt at the check-out, then pick it up from their hand-out-store behind the cashiers and they matched all the extras you asked for with your order to pick it up. that should theoretically be possible.
Each IKEA store has a local site you can get to from their main site, they should have a contact email there, ask them for that deal.

On top of my head:

Alternator Optimus Prime. Engine gun had two right halves, making look like shit. Sold it.

Amazon Unicron. The Kranix minicon have two right feet. Still have it and it's too priceless to get rid of.

Henkei Optimus Prime. Pic related. Traded it away last year.

TR Triggerhappy. Two right sled gun in package, making them impossible to combine. Hasbro sent me a random TR Twinferno to compensate and I kept Triggerhappy.

TR Windblade, two left thighs. I tried repairing her but ended up just exchanging her for another one at TrU.

And finally, TLK Leader Megatron, missing a tailfin. >>6490752

-T30 Roadbuster's visor was broken, the inner piece for his feet was also fucked since they used two left pieces for both of them.
-Beast Wars TM Megatron, you know why.
-T30 Blitzwing had a destroyed head a few days after getting him, the whole helmet just fell to pieces.
-T30 Springer's looked like it was melting due to how the paint was applied.
-TM Sawback had two left arms
-TR Perceptor's TM had a broken arm right out of package
-ROTF Bludgeon's tread issues
-Skids with the hip issue but that was easy to fix
-Universe Sunstreaker had a broken ear

1. ROTF Rollbar, 2 left forearms. Kept because it doesn't affect transformation any and I kind of felt bad for him, he'd already been returned at least once, maybe multiple times by the condition of the box. I didn't catch it through the window because of said condition.
2. TR Brainstorm. Missing right landing gear wheel. Kept, moved front gear to right for symmetry reasons.
3. Both ROTF Leader Primes I have. The paint between the left and right cab halves isn't even close to matching in hue on either figure.
4. MPM-03 Bumblebee. Right wing assembly missing a screw (was never even installed, hole was untapped by threads) and the subsequent pin was driven fucky, wrecking the hinge attaching it to the body. Kept, repaired successfully.

Curse of being combiners. The limbs are always manlets and the body dude is some kind of fucking giant. Doubly weird when they never really reference it in the media, by making everyone really close in height when the toys always suffer from manlet/giant syndrome.
>>
>>6491314
Except for the build team where it's reversed and the torsobot is the manlet. Man the Build Team was a cool idea, we need a second go at that design.

You could argue action masters because the main figures don't actually transform, heck the 3A figures even more so since their accessories don't transform. There has been arguments over the Bay robots, even though their alt modes are based on real cars and thus better than fictional piles of parts. There is a lot for each catagory for the best and worst between each series

I don't have the Hasbro one to compare (because I've never seen it at Walmart/Target), but this one feels decent.

Sqweeks has some terribly designed transformation steps though. There are places where you HAVE to flex the plastic, and I hate that shit. I believe the oversized KO is slightly better in that the bike light is properly attached whereas the retail release one falls off (according to wiki entry), however, you still gotta flex the plastic, and there's little you can do besides shaving off some tabs on the bottom, which will help but not solve the problem entirely.

TL:DR Quality good, but be careful any way.

Does the oversized one have a distinct name or manufacturer so I can find one of my own?

Replacemenet piece? You don't seem to understand, if they have to send replacement parts, they have to replace most of the tail, (except for the dino face part), and they will not fucking do that.

You don't understand, I'm talking about third parties, maybe as part of a upgrade set or a 3d printed part, it's entirely feasible to do.

>Do you have an art blog/tripcode/whatever?
yeah but rarely active nowadays because job. its altronage/deviantart. almost no transformers, filled with old 2hu pics

>What tools do you use?
SAI, Photoshop and Clip Paint

>How'd you get so good at drawing cute anime girls out of robots? What's your process there?
typically people simply draw mecha musume as girl with robot limbs, i mostly want to integrate the robot designs into the clothes and their bodytype.
example like megatron has bucket helmet, i can turn that into bowl cut hair or just put russian hat.

Yep, a coworker would exchange little notes and drawings and such with me. She left the tiny crane one day on my desk.

Well I mean it literally is. The trailer is a repaint of the MW Optimus one. I found one with zero accessories on ebay for $6 and decided to fix it up.

>>6491747
Damn, that's cool. The sword-fan is a nice touch. The whole thing has a Tohou feel, in a good way.

Vunderbarr anon!

Deadlift's facial expression really makes it.

OilSlick's a cool base to begin with and it's brilliant that you've used the hime-cut for the dome head.

I gave toys that broke/lost too many parts due to my incompetence to be functional personal sendoffs before trashing them

Will we ever get a non-Legends CHUG Shockwave? Or even a reissue of the Legends class? I just want a shockwave desu
