I got the monkey in a legoland bin, I'm an MC at legoland california. Pic related, I'm leaving for college in a few days so I'm trading/giving most of my coolest figs to random legoland kiddies, and last night I got real messed up and stayed up till 5 making oversized weapons. Kids love that shit.
>>
Hey guys, I got to see the new UCS Falcon at work today.

I'm not gonna give away any details but the box is a beautiful nearly cube shape wth Bespin as the background. Usually the LEGO boxes have black sides and stuff right? Not this one! This one has no borders and looks amazing. Comes with a handle on top. The price will be $799.99

I got the memo that LEGO will be sending one copy of the model to stores later this week to build for displays. They are threatening immediate termination and legal action if any pictures get online.

Can't wait for everyone to see it!

Also, off the top of my head

Firestar toys had TONS of custom prints, all really good.

and if you want to have something custom printed (on official pieces of course), Minifigs.me are really good, not too expensive, and didnt take too long to ship from bong land to merica. My tenacious d torso cost me about $9 total, including shipping.
>>
I love minifigs, it's like playing dressup, and the parts are so cheap now that you can buy bootlegs.

This will do. It always does.

Does anyone else get suspicious when looking on Bricklink for a rare part (like something that only came in a certain colour in an out of print set) and seeing a seller that has hundreds of them when the only other sellers have one or two? Forgive me for being a purist, but I only want purely authentic Lego.
>>
>>6469869
There are legitimate if obscure ways you can get obscene quantities of rare parts, though reselling them is a violation of the terms.

Those are some very nice colors for mugs anon. I really like the green ones. You could make a cool cactus with those.

Can't fool me TLG. I know Exo-Force when I see it. Though I'm annoyed we're never gonna get an official reboot so long as Ninjago still exists. Ninjago just needs to die already and make way for the superior weebshit theme.

Also that blue ship has a shitload of piece variety. I look forward to pulling them both apart to see what I can re-build them into.

Can writing detailed reviews evaluating modulars on their qualities as spaceships be the new /lg/ thing?
>>
>>6470453
I feel like those should be reversed. The strider seems more machine-ish, and the jet more humanish, and it also lines up with Hayato's color scheme
>>

The reason they're that way is because the green devastator is the only one I had on hand and they're the ones who pilot the flying machines.

>>
Help me /lg/, I can't overcome a reluctance to modify my modular buildings. I have them built and on display in my city but I can't bring myself to swap out the minifig heads or alter the interiors. Maybe I feel like left pristine they have some sort of 'value'. Anyone else feel this way?
>>
>>6470634

>>
>>6470277
what change are you talking about? the instruction manual being printed sideways?
>>
>>6470752
For me modding is pretty much always the way to go as a rule. Except for when i have SERIOUS nostalgia for a set, but even then it's rare.
Either build complementary 100% mocced things to accompany or add on to it, or remind yourself that it's fucking Lego and the instruction sheets will still be a thing whenever you decide to go stock again.

Nah he's right
There's a difference between a built figure and a molded figure. Both the examples shown are pretty big compared to a minifig and it's hard to get down to twice minifig size and still get good details and also make it not look mechanical
People get close, but they usually utilize illegal or unstable connections

an original space theme. With resurrected factions like Classic Space to serve as the good guys' military, opposite Blacktron, evil aliens, pirates, whatever. And space civillians.

It's just going to package the following together as a big "Jakku playset"
75099: Rey's Speeder
75101: First Order Special Forces TIE Fighter
75105: Millennium Falcon
75149: Resistance X-wing Fighter
75148: Encounter on Jakku
75178: Jakku Quadjumper

I hope I'm wrong, but ever since I've seen the box, it just feels like they're going to pull some bullshit.

There's no reason for it to be that big unless they're going for minifig scale.

Mario or Zelda. Zelda would get a lot of Technic pins for switch-based traps and revealing treasure chests. I'd do themed dungeon rooms probably with a forest temple, an aquatic dungeon, a lava pit type of set, and a Hyrule market set. The big set of the theme would be Hyrule Castle or a fortress of Ganon's. Smallest set would have Link, a horse, and some baddies.

It's a mobile hack and slash. I'd say it's not very good. Don't get me wrong. You could play it and have fun. It has character upgrades and stuff plus you get to power up with those crazy powers. Even worse, some physical versions are printed on foam swords and junk.

I was going to suggest a pair of these and a STAMP setup but it would only give you a 6x14 space inside the studs.

What incentive does LEGO have to not revive old themes based on community feedback? I am not criticizing, I just want to understand.

Even when they sort of revive a theme, they'll completely update it thus making it less related to the theme that was popular

When I was a kid sometime around 2004-ish, I wrote the Lego company about this because I wanted their Red Beard Runner but it was discontinued for over a year. I was sad there were no more Lego pirates. They explained they discontinued sets and themes because they were only capable of producing a certain number of sets at once and that they constantly wanted new sets circulating on the shelves.

They then sent me a free package with about 15 classic pirate figures that were new old stock from the 90s and told me that they had one Red Beard Runner left in stock for me if I wanted it. My mother called, ordered it for my birthday and I eagerly waited 3 months to open it. It was my favorite Lego set and it's what made me a Lego customer for life.

Sadly, Lego doesn't do many things like that anymore due to how the collector's market has taken off.

>What incentive does LEGO have to not revive old themes based on community feedback?
They don't have incentive TO do it. The community that provides feedback is mostly AFOL's, who are a tiny percentage of their sales, and are probably speaking based on nostalgia as much as on the merit of the themes. So it's tangential, minute interest at best, and memeing that "omg bellville was great bring it back" at the worst

>and plus, IDEAS proved that AFOL opinion is not trivial or minute.
A single set that requires 10,000 votes to even consider producing is not the same as an entire theme, but in the big picture, 10,000 AFOLs is a drop in the bucket to Lego.

My issue with this is that they don't even have to 100% rehash a theme but the only theme I can think of they rebooted was Bionicle, which they shafted hard on marketing and just general effort. It's odd because they'll make spiritual successors like how Power Miners was similar to Rock Raiders, but more often then not they strip everything sans the very core concept of the old theme when they do this, so while it's similar, the new theme is also a totally different animal. This bothers me because with a line like Transformers, they literally reboot with every new series and almost always reuse the same characters just in a new story. Lego could easily reboot a shitton of themes and bring back old characters in it. Like if they rebooted Alpha team and brought back Ogel or Adventurers and brought back Johnny Thunder. It doesn't need to follow the old story but bringing back old names instead of constantly creating new faces would be nice. I know we get easter eggs every once in a while but proper G2s of old themes would both be easier as opposed to starting from scratch, and it would still please new and old fans if they still played around with new concepts. As it stands Lego just hates reboots for some reason. Again, Bionicle was a slapdash low budget attempt they barely put any effort into because of whatever stigma they have against bringing old stuff back. Like yeah, Agents was cool, but I'd rather see Alpha Team again with a fresh new look.

>30-year-old toys

yes, we're totally really talking about releasing sets like this with no changes or updates whatsoever, you colossal pedantic twat
>>
>>6472971
See I don't get this. What would the difference be if Lego took Power Miners and either changed the name alone to Rock Raiders and made the minifigures updates of the old characters plus new guys, or if they kept the new name and characters but changed the colors to better resemble Rock Raiders sets with grey, yellow, brown, and azure as opposed to lime and orange?

What difference would better referencing an old theme do? Why would this be bad? What ten year old kid is going to say "ew that's that them from the 90s, I don't want it"? Think about it.
>>
>>6473015
Yeah, exactly. They always throw new shit at the wall, and most times it doesn't stick, so they instantly abort and move on to another, instead of using the 60+ years worth of material here and there. For every loved series, there are ten failures that didn't capture the attention of people.

I know that a single very bad decision could make a billion dollar company like LEGO collapse like a house of cards, yet so far it hasn't. Fan loyalty for LEGO is unrivaled in any industry or company.
>>
>>6473015
If you want to get technical and silly, wasn't Ninjago rebooted? We might get a few old sets with this rumored 60th anniversary retro theme. Maybe that will spark interest in reviving older stuff. Not to push the "you're all old and out of touch" argument, but do any of you guy have LegoLife? The things that seem popular on there might be a good indicator of what kids want from Lego. Or Lego is redirecting kids to think that they want what Lego is giving them. I'm not sure. Either way, it isn't classic themes that are getting the hearts.
>>
>>6473044
They could still make the minifigure in the new themes be reimagining of old ones. Say they made a new theme that kids wanted that was another medieval theme, and they had the knights have the same names and similar face prints to the old Knights theme.
>>
>>6473052
I don't disagree. I do have a feeling that kids will be upset if Lego makes a new ninja theme after Ninjago and the new ninjas are Kai (with a scar) and Cole (with eyebrows). But I guess that's basically how they are handling the Ninjago movie. Maybe Denmark just really enjoys ninjas. Maybe they are using Ninjago's popularity to test these kind of reboots?
>>
>>6473015
So you envy Transformers fans getting 5+ versions of Bumblebee a year? That's the opposite of what I want. New characters/new builds are way more of an incentive for me to buy a set than a Johnny Thunder with a new hat.
>>
>>6473060
>>6473070
Well I never meant constant reboots. But occasional remakes of old characters would be nice. Especially in the case of minifigure that are super rare nowadays like Achu or Basil.

>You're over-hyping it, honestly
As someone who's been to Windsor super-recently... yeah, this basically. LLW is pretty tacky looking as far as theme parks go (the theming is usually either falling apart or basically nonexistent), and there's not much exclusive in the shops you can't get at your local lego store with VIP points on top (the pick-a-brick wall selection was decent though, so there is that). If you're thinking of going, I'd suggest waiting for one of those newspaper offers where you collect the tokens and send 'em off - s' much cheaper.

If you have the option though, I'd really recommend going to the legoland in Billund - it's infinitely better than the one in Windsor in literally every way, and you can really tell they've poured more money/effort into the place. I'd wait 'til that Lego House opens though, kill two birds with one stone an' the like.

Thanks man. I kind of lied a little when I told the dude I was completely happy the other thread.

We lost a cat near the beginning of last month due to some freaky shit where half her body stopped working. Got her all the tests and everything, vets couldnt figure shit out. She soldiered on for damn near a year, half paralyzed. Shit, right before she really lost it she was swole as fuck from the waist up, would drag herself to the food and water and to us for attention. She kept going strong but her body finally gave out.

Then, about a week or two ago my main cat for almost 15+ years all of a sudden stopped eating. Took him to the vet, boom, Chronic pancreatitis out of nowhere. No warning, no down period, nothing, just "heres some fun" out of nowhere. Hes stopped eating but hes still drinking and using the box. I figure itll be about a week or so, and im fucking crushed by it.

Also didnt help last night that I had to run outside with a gun and scare SOMETHING off. Its like all the bombs are dropping at once right now and im really doing my best to try and keep it together.

Sorry I went blog mode /lg/, sometimes its good to get it all out though, no matter how cringey it might be....

Thanks guys, seriously. I know sometimes I inadvertently cause small scale shit-i-canes here without meaning too, but you guys are ALL definitely one of my favorite boards/generals on this entire site. Even the trolls and shitposters.

Even playability anon, that little scamp.

Ironically, while the half paralyzed cat (Mew) was dying, I snapped a couple dawn pics of her with the one whose dying right now, Baby.

Its actually kind of scary.

And dont worry Mods/Janitors, I wont waste anymore slots or time with my problems, but it does feel good to get some of it off my chest right now.
>>
>>6474313
Cute freaking cats!

Same litter? they look similar enough.
>>
>>6474332
Nah. Mew was a gray Tabby cat, and Baby is either a Russian Blue or more likely a Korat.

Even stranger, when Baby was really young, Mew actually nursed him. She actually pulled off a few "fake pregnancies" and shit back in the day, where she would show all the signs of it, but nothing came of it. She was abandoned with me by my ex-fiance back in the day and I swore I would take care of her no matter what. I held her paw and looked her right in the eyes when the vet put her down, and ill do the same for Baby.

I know a lot of people talk shit about cats and whatnot, but I dont care, you earn their trust and they remain loyal as all fuck.

And that is NOT a knock on doggos or their owners either, ive had plenty of pups in my life too.

>how do I sort my shit, /lg/? it's really hard to come up with some categories without them being overly specific?

Large containers full of smaller containers.

The large containers group by broad category (non-sloped bricks), the smaller containers group by specific category (2x4 bricks).

Being overly specific is a good thing because it lets you find exactly the piece you're looking for as quickly as possible. This is easier when you know exactly which large container to look in.
