Walmart around me never have shit. They have had the all father wave on clearance for over a year now. Target gets stuff, but everyone around here must use brick seek because they rarely hit the sales floor for longer than an hour or two.
>>
I walked in to a freshly stocked Walmart in Edmond the other day. Picked up Hela for a friend, bought Thor for myself. Saw the Netflix wave there too. Super surprised by that.

Also the new Blade sucks balls. I'm selling him off cause I only wanted Man-Thing. But boy they fucked Blade up again.

>>6467976
The All Father and Absorbing Man waves are the poison in my parts. Even at discount prices, pretty much every Walmart in my town has them just taking up space. The only reason I even saw the Dr Strange stuff was because they had a little dedicated space to it at the end of the aisle.

Now those are getting marked down and still aren't leaving either.
>>

So I really want Jessica Jones and Blade to finish Man-Thing, but I'm not paying those Amazon prices. Both are showing up at Walmarts in my area on Brickseek, but all of them say they have the same amount in stock (8, which seems fishy). Is that because they have a box of figs they haven't opened yet? And can you go to the store and ask them for the figure if it isn't on the shelf? Bottom line, it's hard to believe in 2017 that Hasbro and Marvel are content with this status quo of people not being able to find and buy their product at retail price. Can anyone explain why they distribute this way? Why can't I just buy the product for $20 on Amazon or in any Target the way I can with games, BluRays, books, etc?

I don't care what anyone says about Gamora, Hela is THE MCU Legends figure of the year.

It's those veins, such a subtle detail they didn't have to include but it brings it into the uncanny valley of looking like Cate Blanchett.
>>
>>6467931
>tfw your local target still has about 3 cases worth of Morbius and fucking Speed demon with a few Mad Jack's thrown in.

I've given up on them ever restocking. The funny part is they clearanced the Dr.Strange wave figures, but left all the trash absorbing man wave figures to rot on the shelf for all eternity. They are literally the same ones I saw back last august/september.

Yeah, that bugged the hell out of me. Meanwhile gamora and nebula are no-selling it. Nebula was particularly weird, her character's been pretty firmly established as "salty as hell all the time", there were a lot of directions they could have gone with that.

Found something interesting at a walmart. Elektra was hidden behind a lone Vance Astro. I didn't think they had the netflix wave.

Regardless, all the Doctor Strange wave was on clearance, so I might've doublescanned Voodoo Guy to show two MLs on the receipt.
>>
>>6468685
Clearance for $9 or less?
>>
>>6468697

They were like 9.95. I've heard people in these threads say the same thing about that wave being on clearance, but for 5 or 7ish dollars.

I kind of wanted the Brother Voodoo already, though. Just not for full price.

I keep wondering if picking up that guy might be a good idea considering that he was left in the cutting room floor for episode VII and became a peg warmer, maybe it's going to be like one of those old Droids action figures that almost no one wanted that later became rare and hard to find... then again I'm probably a moron.
>>
>>6468812
While they don't reach super-massive levels of aftermarket value, a lot of figures that were pegwarmers when they came out now fetch decent prices on eBay. If you can find him on clearance, you may be able to sell it for like $30 later on.

Fuck the gay ass TRU distribution

My local TRU hasn't seen any MJ 2pack nor the Phoenix 2pack and they're both "out of stock" and not available for even stock lookup online.

Will they eventually stock these and have them readily available, even discounted like the Agent of Shield 3 packs and Vision/SamWilson/GirlHawkeye 3 packs, or is it panic time?
>>
>>6468826

It's hard to say, because those three packs were filled with nobodies, whereas the common person actually knows who Cyclops and Jean Grey/Peter and Mary-Jane are, let alone scalpers who want to take advantage of that.

But then again, I got the ultimate spidey and vulture two-pack at Walmart for a marked down 20 bucks, which doesn't make any sense to me at all, so you never know.
>>
>>6468826
I don't understand TRU's stocking issues. I get why stores like Walmart and Target wouldn't pay much attention to what figures they have out, toys are a small part of their overall business so they're obviously not getting the focus.

But Toys R Us is literally a toy store and somehow they still go months without putting out new stuff. They're almost as bad as KB used to be before this exact shit killed them.
>>
>>6468797
It may just be me, but if the distinction between Thors automatically compels one to addressed as "Lady Thor" than the one not addressed as such is more than likely the one being referred in the first post.
Snarky /co/ response aside, I was referring to the movie Thor.
>>
>>6468855
Tbf, I'm not sure if "Lady Thor" is the official name, I just assumed it was Thor and I was being pedantic. I'm not a huge Marvel guy but I like the figures so I might sound a bit uninformed.

>>
>>6467965

>>
I really wish the netflix Elektra would've come with a folded down bandana thing like Silk did, but I'll probably never swap her head for the unmasked one anyway.
And in the show her neck was fully covered by it.
>>
>>6468963
>And in the show her neck was fully covered by it.
I noticed that as well. Honestly I'm just happy she got made at all since she didn't seem to be nearly as popular as Punisher in the show. Even if the Hand/Nobu story was pretty underdeveloped, I personally liked what they did with her character and how they changed up her electra-complex so it's directed towards Stick instead.
>>
>>6468971

Interestingly enough, and maybe it's just my area, but I've consistently seen the Netflix Punisher (along with Netflix Daredevil) be the pegwarmers of the wave. I would say that 90% of the walgreens in my area have them, as well as a few walmarts, but out of the 10ish places I've been to and saw them at, I've only seen Elektra twice, whereas there's always 1 or 2 Punishers and Daredevils sitting there, and maybe one Blade.

If I had to guess, I would say Elektra might be the second most-wanted figure of the wave, after Bullseye. Jessica Jones is right in the middle, I've seen that figure 3 or 4 times. Always with a fucked up face, though.

It's gotten to the point where I have three figures from that wave and I'm starting to feel the "ah, fuck it, I'll just get them all" urge when I toss another Man-Thing limb into my miscellaneous accessory box.
>>
>>6468975
Punisher and Daredevil are two to a case.
>>
>>6468980

Oh, that makes sense. Still shit loads of them on shelves, though.
>>
>>6468975
I've not seen anything fresher than GotG wave one at any stores anywhere
:(
>>
>>6468983

My two biggest quarries were Bullseye and Adam Warlock, and I thought Bullseye would've been the harder one to find.

But I got him, and the few stores that have the GotG Mantis wave have consistently had everyone EXCEPT Adam. Real bummer, too. I want a Magus for my villain lineup.
>>
>>6468847

Some of the blame is on TRU, but most of the blame is squarely on Hasbro. What you can say about these figures, you can also say about SW, Transformers, and (when it was still an actual fucking thing) GI Joe.

Their distribution is absolutely fucking horrid.
>>
>>6468989
>>6468847
It actually is still Walmart's fault.

TRU is a planet that tries to get shipments of grain so it can make bread for its people. Walmart is a fucking dyson sphere right next door that demands 99% of the grain in the rest of the galaxy as tribute, and uses it to make alcohol, which it eventually just turns into rocket fuel so it can continue to threaten the grain producers into giving it more grain.

What Walmart wants, walmart gets. Look at how fucked up numerous lines have gotten as a result. Ask the NECA folks about it sometime.
>>
>>6468996

Walmart is the most chaotic place to look for figures, none of the stores are ever on the same page, the employees are near universally trash, they have the highest rate of people stealing shit and returning the wrong figures in the wrong boxes with the wrong accessories and shit. I saw an Angela box with Vance Astro in it the other day.

Not to mention one store will have a year old wave on clearance to make space, while one 5 minutes away will have older shit than that still at full price, or won't have restocked at all for weeks.

But this all leads to more surprises in my experience, like putting out stock early, or finding random full cases in the back that they suddenly decide to put on the shelf, or shit shoved up on top of the aisle.
>>
>>6468996

I know all about the NECA thing. Walmart nearly killed off their Pacific Rim line before it even got off the ground.

That said, its still a big part Hasbro's fault. Other toy companies seem to be able keep stock on shelves, but no matter what you're looking at from Hasbro, all you usually find is a sea of 2 or 3 Peg warmers for months on end.

The truth of the matter is, the other guy is pretty much right: Department stores/retailers like Walmart/Target/whatever barely give two fucks about toys, because they're such a tiny fraction of overall sales. So they don't really give a shit if they're getting new product, so long as the shelf looks full, even if it only looks "full" because the same shitty peg warmers have been sitting there for months.

Walmart definitely has a huge hand in the overall flow and production of toys, but Hasbro is still a pretty big part of the issue.

I think the Toybiz Marvel Legends one was considered good, and he could stand with his tentacles, but he was a sort of modern version. And there was a Toybiz boxset one with Spidey and some villains that was a more classic look.

Aside from that, you'd be looking at Alfred Molina movie ones, but I think one or two of those were supposedly well done.

Hasbro hasn't touched Otto yet, aside from the Ultimate Green Goblin wave Superior Spider-Man and the Rhino wave Superior Venom.

I bought a Zuvio from TRU because it was on clearance at the time, and I felt sorry for the store. The manager actually thanked me for helping him out. It's not a horrible figure, but it's not great either. When I got it, I'd intended to use it for part swaps, but everything from the hips up is a mess under that robe. There's no actual torso in there. On the plus side, he made for a good funky villain once I'd put BAF Hobgoblin's wings on him and stuck him on a flight stand.

>>
>>6469236

I'm just annoyed by it.
Sometimes Hasbro seems to avoid shit that would end up being very utilitarian for them in terms of production, like double-jointed female arms that could be reused over and over and over.

But then they also give random figures like Bullseye hyper-specific shit with his kunai throwing effect hand that will most likely never be used again. And that's cool and everything, but why do that and not the way easier shit that would improve the whole line overall?

It's like they have different people making decisions about individual figures.
>>
>>6469246
I know I shouldn't, but shit like that always make me laugh. So much so that it just puts a dumb smile on my face every time Hasbro does it.
>>
>>6469246
>It's like they have different people making decisions about individual figures

It's called budget anon. ML waves are budgeted across the case. So the cost savings of reuse like Ares gets passed on to additional details or parts for other figures. If every single figure in the wave was best evah, they'd start raising prices again.
>>
>>6469280

I'm going to assume they wouldn't have broken the bank if they'd have given Spider-Bitch extra hands that could've just been repaints of the female web-shooting devil horns that Mayday Spider-Girl had.

And I would think fists would've been cheaper to make than giving girl beetle those terrible jazz hands that don't suit her.

Why does Elektra only have one "sai" hand? she doesn't need a normal open fist, the sai hand can hold her sai normally as well as with the claw grip, and if they already have the mold, it's not hard to reverse it.

"Budget" doesn't explain everything.
>>
>>6469293
I actually love that Beetle has her jazz hands. It's perfect for a bunch of poses I like to put her in, and also means she can hold a phone.
>>
>>6469306

But her thing in Superior Foes was shooting lasers and she would do it while making fists, like the first Beetle who was released with fists.

Plus those fingers always look too long, no matter which chick they're used on, like Enchantress or Sue Storm.

Nico Minoru's purple magic hand was a unique piece, but at least it didn't have ET-tier fingers.

Hasbro is pretty much the only company who sells popular boys toys, that are also wanted by scalpers and collectors.
Stores order a ton and you dont expect shelf warmers to happen?
There's nothin Hasbro can really do. Stores like WalMart pretty much decide the case ratio for toys. They want a fucking Bumblebee with every case even from Marvel lines and Hasbro has no choice buy to incorporate Transformers into Guardians of the Galaxy.

And if a niche comic book character that collectors/fans want is unknown to kids who buy the majority of toys, and leave it there to shelf warm, how is that Hasbro's fault for catering to collectors and fans?
Do you want them to pull a Mattel where only popular main characters only get produced, like Batman and He Mans?

It's damned if you don't, damned if you do, and Walmart is shit.

Because he is literally a soldier you retard. He fought in a war. He shot the shit out of a bunch of nazi's. The only reason he usually doesn't use a gun now is because he is not fighting a war, and even supervillains are technically civilians.

>>
>>6470249
>he just puts down suppressing fire since the guys are under Loki's control
That has no bearing on things. He throws one of them off the helicarrier to their death early on, he doesn't care about saving their lives. There was also a scene earlier where mind-controlled Hawkeye mentions how there's no shortage of people that want to take down SHIELD, so it's implied that those guys are hired goons.
>>
>>6470249

Throwing that super shield at someone's back is an easy way to instantly sever their spine, and personally I would prefer being shot to that.

Also a super-human punch to a normal guy would most likely be enough to cause massive internal damage to the organs or send the ribs splintering all over the fucking place. Not to mention taking Cap's fist to the dome would probably be enough to cause swelling/hemorrhaging that would lead to death within minutes.

Being punched by a normal guy who knows how to punch can be deadly enough as it is, by sheer odds Steve would've killed like 10% of the guys he simply "beat up".

When are we getting a new Luke Cage figure? With all the live action stuff happening with him recently, I figured there'd be at least one in the pipeline, but there's only the one in the Defenders pack that looks like a re-release.
>>
>>6470435
>hasbro could kidbash a normal luke cage but thy rather re-release the thunderbolts luke
somtimes you only can wonder about the decisions this company make
>>
>>6470435

I don't think Luke Cage was as popular as Daredevil or Jessica Jones, for one thing. People liked it more than Iron Fist, but still.

Then again maybe the Man-Thing wave was pushed out earlier than would allow for them to have made Netflix Luke and Danny, and they were able to make comic versions of Bullseye (who at least fits in with the half-Daredevil lineup) and Blade (who doesn't fit at all) with Man-Thing parts (for some reason) much more quickly because the faces don't have to be """realistic""".

Or maybe the 3 Netflix Daredevil figures were originally going to come out some other way, like a box set that would've come out in conjunction with Season 2, and Netflix Jessica would've been a store exclusive, but they aborted those plans for budgetary or market forecast reasons.

But again, it could've just been based on the popularity of the shows and nothing more. I just think it's odd for a wave to be four Netflix-specific likeness figures and then two standard comic figures, with a seemingly arbitrary BAF choice.

Also I think rereleasing that Comic-con exclusive RAFT Purple Man would've been a better fit over Blade, and Jessica would have someone to fight.
>>
>>6470482
>Or maybe the 3 Netflix Daredevil figures were originally going to come out some other way, like a box set that would've come out in conjunction with Season 2, and Netflix Jessica would've been a store exclusive, but they aborted those plans for budgetary or market forecast reasons

I think its similar to this. They didn't know how to get them out. I think marvel gave them permission to do a full wave release too. Marvel still has some control in what is promoted as toys are seen as that, promotion. It wouldn't surprise me to see a danny/luke two pack
>>
>>6470500

With the Defenders set coming out to promote the show being all comic looks, idk when Luke and Danny would come out.

Maybe instead of doing a season 2 for either of them they should just combine them as a duo, call it Marvel's Heroes for Hire, and have them just do action shit, because the drama was where both of those shows fell flat and more importantly the fight scenes in Iron Fist were terrible.

That would be the perfect time to release their live action versions.
>>
>>6470482
>RAFT Purple Man
Honest to god I'm shocked they didn't put him in the wave now that you mention it. I know they've had that Blade in the works for a while and shit, but he sort of sticks out in the wave while this was a great chance to get Purple Man out to the masses like most other exclusives eventually do.
>>6470500
>>6470510
To be fair, Danny and Luke both sorta don't really have a costume or a look to make a figure of. Maybe Luke's early hoodie with the yellow hood, and a shirtless/shirt open Danny, but I don't know how well those would end up looking or selling, Danny would probably be a shelfwarmer at worst.
>>
I'm glad we didn't get season 1 Danny considering his disgusting hair, it looks way better in Defenders and if he gets a costume i'm game for a figure, or even a civvies fig

This. All this.

I want to add in it sucks to check brickseek for new waves, see Walmart finally has some in stock, then have to wait weeks to find an employee who actually understands what the fuck im talking about/helps me get the figures. When I see a wave is in stock online but not on the shelf, I'll ask and every single time I get a new excuse, "we put new stock out on monday," "we put new stock out on Tuesday," "that's not here yet we just ordered it," "there's no accurate inventory checkers," "we sold out." Then finally when someone does go check, coincidentally they happen to be there the whole time.

I fucking hate Target now too, Brickseek said they were in stock so I came in a bunch of days in a row to look and ask if someone can grab the Thor figs for me from the back. the first day the dude was awesome and said he sees the DCPI says they're in the back but to come back in a day because they have to clear out a pallet to find them. The next day he pretended that never happened and told me brickseek doesn't work and they aren't getting any for two weeks. The next day a new guy said he knows what's up and they'd be out Friday. Next day they were all sold out lol

Dude yeah, we've had the same giant shelf full of a big combination of pegwarmers from every wave for like a year, other than a time they tossed the Warlock wave out one week on top of them.

I finally decided to ask someone what's up last Tuesday when I saw everyone was finding the Ragnarok wave that morning. The guy was like "gimme one sec my guy," went to the back and came out with a fresh case. He let me buy what I wanted, then brought the rest back to the back.

A little bit of both. When I bought it (this was late last year), he said that he was having trouble moving any of the Force Awakens 6" figures (which makes sense--at the time, he had 8 pegs full of nothing but Zuvio, Guavian Enforcer, and Finn). They all had dust on them. He also said that online sales were really hurting his in-store business. He cited Amazon, but also TRU's website as cannibalizing his business as a brick-and-mortar store. It was surprising how candid he was.

>It's like...I guess they GET new stuff, but keep it hidden hoping the pegwarmers will sell first?

If the shelf capacity is full, physically and especially if the computer counts are well above floor cap, then that case will never get pulled. It just gets scanned into a bay in the back.

See, stuff comes on the truck as "shaded" and "non-shaded." Shaded goes to the floor immediately to be worked, non gets put aside to be scanned. Likely the Thor stuff was nonshaded or was put aside due to the street date.

That's the problem relying on the computer to ping anyone the next morning for floor cap restock. Especially with TRU employees that don't care or know the product. If the pegs look full, they're full. Doesn't matter if it's been there for months.

It takes someone that knows and cares to remove some of the old shit to push out the new, and let replenishment be the old toys.
>>
>>6471073

So it's computer based? I guess that makes sense but I always wondered if I could just go hide the shitty peg warmers that have been there forever and trick them in to restocking. My TRU is really bad, after Christmas they didn't get anything back in the shelves until at least April.
>>
>>6471065
>Mattel decided to pull all of his toys after he called some dude a nigger

A problem I've run into is the different waves having different UPC and sometimes the tag on the peg will just say "MARVEL LEGENDS" but not which wave and so there will be a Spider-Man pegwarmer figure on the X-men peg and I'll ask if they have any more in the back the employee will scan the thing, say "Oh, yes we do," and then bring out a fucking Polaris or some shit I don't want instead of Cosmic Spider-man or Moonknight.

The only way that would work is if someone was doing floor cap check, counted what was on the floor physically, then changed the number themselves.

I used to put the numbers well below the floor cap so the computer would order more Star Wars and GI Joe for us. SW cause we had so many pegwarmers, Joe because they just stopped sending them for some reason.

So again, you need someone that cares enough and knows the tricks.
>>
>>6471086

I've never actually asked an employee to look for any, I figure nobody will actually do it. I finally found a Cosmic Spider-Man last night though but I still have never seen Moon Knight. Actually I've only ever seen Vulture and Tombstone.

>>6471089
That's what I figured which is why I never actually bothered to do it.
>>
>>6471089
Also floor cap varies wildly. Floor cap for ML at a store (it's a store to store thing) could be as low as 5. So as long as they have at least 5 MLs in the system, on the pegs, they'll never get pinged to replenish that one to five figure cap.

This can also be an issue depending on the aisle set. If they've got six pegs for MLs, say, four figures a peg? Again, won't get down low enough to ever need replenishing.
>>
>>6471092

At target they'll usually go check in my experience, but some of the time it seems like they don't actually know what to do about it, or like they might just be saying they'll look and they don't, or they can't figure out the stock room because they're a floor person or whatever.

Or the UPC mix up shit will happen.

I've worked warehouse jobs for retail before, and it'll vary from place to place how easy it is to even get to stock, and how well the floor people know the back room mechanics (if at all).

It's a real shitshow.
>>

Try the blow dryer/hot water trick.
Also congrats on having a gf.
>>
>>6471081
Yes it did. What? There's a clip of it
>>
>>6471116
I tried hot water but maybe I didn't hold it under there long enough, first time I've had to try it.
>>
>>6471123
It can be scary at first but you're not gonna damage it that way. I prefer the blow dryer myself.
Just don't force the joint, that's how breaks happen.
>>
>>6471129
I'll use hers as the test subject.

Unrelated but is it worth just buying whole waves when I see them? We bought everything in the case but Blade (because I heard the figure sucks) and Jessica Jones (because neither of us cares). Is re-selling the BAF a good way to help absorb the cost or are they not worth that much? Honesty I feel like kind of a dick buying stuff I don't want.

Not the best but not a bad option if you can get him cheap. I got him for $10 CDN at a toy show.
>>
>>6471260
well, that is ALSO the best one, just repainted.
Unless Hasbro used different, worse plastic or something, it appears to be identical aside from the coloring and the lack of the dumb toybiz nonsense stand for the figure.

Because he was all over using guns until the MCU started really taking off and Disney suddenly realized it was a bad idea to have their poster boy shooting people to death.

You have one vial of anti-mutagen. It is nonreproducible. What hero wants/needs/deserves it the most? Use it on a Villain to beat them?

I'm tired of buying the same buck with little to no innovation for years on end

Because they're the only ones doing articulated and comic accurate figures with such a huge variety. I love my Mezcos and all, but ultimately when I look at my Marvel ones, besides Punisher, they just feel more like someone's fanart than the versions I'm truly attached to.
>>
>>6471764

I should pick these fuckers up sometime. I'm kinda pissed they didn't give Speed Demon two karate chop/running hands though. Or a cellphone for Beetle. Or a goofier/unmasked head for Boomerang. Or a god damned plate of corned beef hash for Shocker. These guys ooze personality in Superior Foes, but their toys are pretty drab and by-the-books.

Also, yeah, I hope they finish up the team and give us Overdrive.

Speed Demon does have two running hands.

The rest are definitely things I would have appreciated, though. Also Speed Demon needed to come with Inspector, and Silvermane's head should have come with Electro instead.

I work at Target. Everyone who works the floor (except cashiers & maybe clothes people), should know how to get stuff from the back if the store is well run.

It's pretty easy. You just type in the item/DCPI into the work iPhone & it should say if it's in-stock/where it is in the back room.
>>

Yes, but it's a problem with the trim around the opening of the shoulder where the ball fits--it blocks movement. Good luck with it: the only way to get it "unstuck" is to just jam the fucker and risk rubbing off some paint/plastic like I did. It seems like a common problem on that fig.
