Thanks anon, I just finished putting away the last of the minidoll haul as this thread was being made, but while I was sorting pieces the other day, I found that harness with a minifig head stuck inside.

The total haul is probably around 7,100 pieces. I think there's at least one set that I don't have the instruction book for, and I know that there's at least one double. I think the girls probably have an older brother because I found three or four pieces that were much older and more worn than the minidoll stuff, and a couple of off-brand pieces.

The biggest highlight is definitely the 18 trans-clear 1x6x6 panels and all the other large trans-clear parts from the Heartlake Mall. Cool highlights that I wasn't expecting included 50 minidoll hairs, a white turban, a whole lot of food and food items like electric mixers, mixing bowls, cooking pans and dishes, domestic stuff (spray bottles, hair dryers, etc.), a bunch of beetles and butterflies for my spiders and scorpions to prey on, a whole lot of purses, and seven cell phones. I was a little envious of the Ninjago City cell phone store now that I saw the new Duplo cell phone piece, but I have enough to populate a whole wall thanks to this.

Lots and lots of food pieces.

Also three rings of power, about ten or twelve $100 tiles, a lot of cabinets, two paintbrushes, a bunch of lipsticks in purple, magenta, and red, pens, pregnancy tests, and a bunch of other hospital items like medical chart clipboards and adorable little nurse hats.

There are probably four or five of those gold record tiles. The lemonade sign is fantastic, and I can see myself using it in the near future.

>wat, got a pic?

Both of them are new molds that were made for the Friends sets. The beetles and butterflies are both pretty much in scale with the spiders and scorpions; that is to say, you can fit one on a minifig hand. There's also a butterfly hair accessory that works awesomely for depictions of dimorphic species mating because both the butterfly and beetle have pinholes on their backs.

I really like the butterfly piece. It sits pretty low as you can see.

BB is a better playset and it follows the new modular philosophy of several small buildings at a more cartoon scale.
PR is the last of the old style modulars that depict a single building at a larger scale. It looks better and more coherent.
PC doesn't have much going for it.

>1990 was around when I got into Lego, so I always thought Blacktron 2 were good guys. I mean, look at this guy. Is there anything sinister here?
its extremely hard to see a sinister looking evil guy when he has this fucking face

I know some of you will answer something like "but anon its a perfect undercover smiley face but actually evil guy" - no such "ironic" twist didnt exist back in early 90s in pop culture.
Im glad Lego got their shit together and started to make detailed facial expressions of all kinds.

The company grew a lot when they left these blank smiley faces behind but i agree that their first attempts (early 00s when faces were looking weird) were not so good.
PS:
Btw i think this why Playmobil dont have a chance in modern world.
Playmobill still looks like a bunch of mini dolls from 1970s.
If lego was still having only 1 smiley face for every character they wouldnt be so popular.

so, furry conventions? Otherwise lonely outcasts? Kinda sad lore Lego tbhbbq.
>>
so here's the deal, /lg/
throughout the years I've more or less(the latter in most recent years) 'followed' the lego sets and series that were coming out but my collection is rather poor(for many different reasons).
however, I really want to truly 'get into' lego and I'm wondering how I should go about this. I've already added a bunch of old ass sets I feel kind of nostalgic for from playing lego racers all the time(and I kind of like the simple, blocky designs. I know it's called development but many new sets seem unnecessarily complicated to me) to my wishlist on bricklink but those are a more of a long term thing. Now my priority would be to acquire as many parts as possible to be able to start a collection of sorts, build MOCs etc.
are there any sets containing many useful parts you'd recommend for starters or is it better to buy people's collections in kgs?(they're usually pretty cheap)
>>
>>6466867
buying collections in buik is cheapest BY THE POUND, but if you have any idea about a specifc genre you like building, buying parts off of bricklink can be cheaper, since you buy 80-90% parts that you actually like and need, and not ~50% or less when you buy in bulk.

If you have a thing for that corner of the 1980s that was Miami Vice and pastel colors, as well as an appreciation for synthpop, then Paradisa does tend to speak to you. The sets as they are are pretty weak, but if you're into them I guess they hold a certain potential.

I get it, but my only Paradisa purchase so far has been a lone minifigure. Certain Friends sets are a color swap or two away from being modern Paradisa sets.

I unironically like both themes. Fabuland was before my time, but the 70's design cues and prints are really neat. Minifigures are unique and have a great personality. The different human proportions change up standard minifig scale shaping a bit.
I can completely agree with that the modular larger pieces can turn people off, but i enjoy the theme both as its own thing as a source of funky pieces and colours. Those chairs ar GOAT chairs to this day.
Paradisa i'm sort of nostalgic for since they had a whole bunch in elementary school. I remember the soft pink colours and generally chill vibe it had. I definately grew more fond of it as i grew older and got out of my darkage since purple-pink hues are my favourite accent colours to my sci-fi city stuff. Paradisa not only delivered on these colours, but also had more female minifigures to balance out the relative sausagefest that was my collection. Belville also had interesting colours and pieces and 80's print style, maybe even more so, but they did not function as stand-alone Lego sets as much as Paradisa.
Where Fabuland also had different minifigures, those were actually really cute. Belville on the other hand, i don't even want to speak of those horrors.
Friends is the current replacement for Paradisa in a lot of ways. It also came with many really usefull prints and pieces.
But I don't have a connection with the minidolls, a lot of the printing style is tacky clipart tier and overuses the current lime and tan that i don't like. This is why for me Paradisa still fills the niche for "chill vacation sets with clean colours, consistent design and fit into the rest of your collection" the best.

FYI Aquazone was considered a subtheme of the Space line by its creator. It was originally conceived as Seatron and was a direct sequel to Futuron, but as it progressed through development the alien angle was dropped, but it was intended to be taking place on a water planet separate from Earth.

Posting mocs you put effort in and discussing Lego without being doing too much of the edgy anonymoose persona or blogging about the state of the world. Good jokes are encouraged, but should always complement actual Lego assburger talk.
While def autistic, this is my favourite part of the website now. On topic, positive and well spirited, not memed into a state of terminal sickness. Populated and constant, but niche enough to not be overbearing. Some nice mocs and a pleasant air of people being excited about this thing and making the most of it in their own way.

Several labcoats, but mostly white ones.

One in the halloween cmf series with pink splotches, one in monsterfighters theme, on in the early 2000's studios theme one female cmf one with a purple shirt showing under the coat.

I have a vague memory of a black one being in the early agents sets with the villain that melts into goo, but someone should second that because i might just be hazy.

Shoots Maleficent (Cara Boswick - from Carabosse, the Tchaikovsky ballet name for the wicked fairy (Maleficent is her callsign))'s plane down over a promotion rivalry, she gets patched up by Diablo (Dr. Davin Corbeau, mad scientist who was working on medical stuff in the aftermath of the Great War) and uses his family's castle as a base (can totally have pig-henchmen since his experiments are a bit nuts).

He ends up getting promoted a bit but also shuffled off to a career dead-end of an airbase in what's pretty much Scotland.

Stevens' daughter Rosalind (callsign: Aurora) wants to be a pilot but he's super protective and keeps her cooped up, she runs away and goes through flight school under the name Brian Ross (pretending to be a guy so her dad doesn't find out). Eventually he does (she coincidentally gets a posting to his airbase), and pulls strings to get her assigned to a reserve base in the south.

The flight ends up getting into the castle's airspace, and radio chatter gives away who's on the transport, so Maleficent takes off to shoot it down. The fairies would be the transport's escort pilots at this point. The transport makes a crash landing on one of the castle's bridges, Aurora survives but ends up in a coma, and that's as far as I've gotten.

Ok so some thoughts on it:
It's a pretty big build once it's all done and it feels suitably big for the price point. However, adult fans will probably want to mod it a bit to make it more to their liking.
The tail and back hip sections are all connected with loose connections (I don't know the proper term, but it restricts movements along the vertical axis but horizontally it just flops around like the trailer joints). This enables the play feature where you can turn a gear and move the tail like a happy dog. It's fun, but not very useful for posing, im probably going replace all those joints with mixel joints
The head is pretty much what it looks like in the picture. It's a fun build (golden bananas are a nice touch) but the jaw and nose being molded is still a bit of a bummer, especially since it has the same issues of other ninjago dragons(brick built or not) where the jaw is kind of awkward to hinge and pose. And the nose has a tendency to turn or pop off while I pose it, so I wonder why they didn't just spring for a couple more parts to build a head.
it's a ton of sand green slopes, which is objectively best color so I'm always happy to see more of it. And a ton of gold pieces, which is par for the course for ninjago.
The figures are pretty nice but not really noteworthy. You get green ninja, Will, boss bad dude, and generic bad dude so its a pretty good swath of characters. I only wish the goon had one of the fish heads instead of the same beanie every city robber has, but I'm not really into figures myself so I don't mind. I also wish you got an extra curved sword instead of a bunch of extra katanas. I only have a couple ninjago sets but I already have so many damn katanas
If not for the floppy tail it would be pretty swooshable, but i look forward to modding it so I can pose it like a man child
>>
>>6468389
On the bright side, you get enough katanas for Garmadon to use 4, and Lloyd use a tassled gold one.
>>
>>6468389
Also forgot to mention that I was surprised at how many of the pin holes/joints are covered in the model. It feels much more contained than sets usually do and helps it feel more finished

Idk depends on how you like to swoosh.
The waist has these rubber pieces that keep it from moving too far, but the tail is loose. It's pretty fun to move it back and forth and pretend the tail is swimming it through air currents.
It's pretty easy to hold by the chest( and secret rocket boosters that you can flip up).

There is nothing wrong with a bit of femdom
An just because someone's into fendom doesn't mean they're into cuckoldry

But if i should guess, it's probably because a dominant woman takes control of the situation, which makes things a lot easier for awkward and/or shy guys
>>

I think it's more the saucy fetish nature of a dominatrix that is funny to see in a kids-toy. Heterosex is a bit tame, so it's mostly dominatrixes, dudestrippers and gay leatherclubs.

I'm new to /lg/ and I'll probably be alone in this opinion but I really dislike how many parts in new sets(and by 'new' I mean probably 2006 onwards) are moulded rather than built with parts. it makes sets less 'universal' so to say and I don't like how a lot of these parts seem to be designed to conceal studs. lego for me has always been about blocky designs with studs all over and many uses for each part rather than about large, unnecessarily specific moulds.

eBay will get you the most money per set and it's easier to sell stuff on. You can undercut the really bad resellers and still make a pretty penny. Same with figs, I routinely buy licensed sets, sell the figs for half of the price of the set or more, and then keep the parts I want

idk man I guess I mean stuff like large, studless armor parts or fenders etc. I'm not going to argue with you, I guess I subconsciously want you guys to convince me that I'm wrong so I can rediscover my love and excitement for new lego

I believe the reddish-brown-faced chimps showed up in the Build-a-Minifig bins.

There's a good reason why Lego almost went bankrupt ~20 years ago.

That's also why Bonkle was a bestseller.

eh, it's a matter of taste; I wasn't trying to argue, just wondering which you meant.

either way there's plenty of basic brick shaped bricks still available; have you checked out the Classic boxes? they're named after the main colors, red, blue, green, I read somewhere there's more on the way.

I wonder if they're going to be in an upcoming Jungle wave.

The character in the middle is a literally who
I can't even remember his name
>>
>>6469091
What the flying fuck are you talking about.
If anything, the sets these days seem to use too many parts and often the parts count gets inflated by stuff like using two 1x4 plates instead of a single 2x4.
If you want to bitch about something then do it about the shitty color-coded parts like axles and pins that always keep standing out like a sore thumb or the randomly colored filler bricks that are there to make building easier but in the end it's only makes building the main set easier and creating something else harder.
>>
>>6469132
I'd go fucking broke buying those.
>>6469137
I suppose that's possible. Are they doing another wave of Jungle Exploration for Winter 2018? They're going back to the Arctic for the Summer wave.

Look up creator sets also
They're by far my favorite "theme"

My friend moved a while back and when he got rid of some of his stuff, he was paid up to 13€ per kilo.

Granted, both of the people he sold to were professional Lego sellers so it might be a little wonky rate.

There were a lot on sale, but for a $80 set, being marked down $50? I would never pass that up. There were more marked down like $20 and such, and a lot of small sets like that as well, but that was the best deal I saw.

Anyone check local store prices of lego through brick seek. How much of a degenerate will I look like checking out lego at stores like Walmart and target.
>>
>>6474998
Extremely.

Children looking for toys will cry and cling to their parents. "Mommy why is that man looking at my Lego?" The parents will gasp and tut and take pictures on their phones. A manager will get involved. Burly employees will politely escort you out but not before taking you to the office to have your picture taken, which will then be posted next to the registers, at the entrance doors, and mailed to other retail outlets in the area.
>>
>>6474998
nah you could just look for your brother, cousin or even kid, I'm sure most people don't even care
>>
>>6475034
Adults playing with Lego is practically mainstream these days. No one will care.

Don't trust BrickSeek. Accuracy is not their strong suit. Plus it's in a legal grey area.
>>
>>6474998
If anyone asks, just say you're looking for a gift.

I'm aware that Imgur.com will stop allowing adult images since 15th of May. I'm taking actions to backup as much data as possible.
