I don't see threads like this often so I'm curious.
Does /toy/ collect any gumball/gashapon/capsule machine toys? I'd love to see what you guys get.
Pic related are my SOMA knock-off gumball ninjas- I'm still trying to figure out a way to display them.
I haven't in a while, but when I do, I try to get the green of any little figure I can.

Neat. The guy with a fist for a head, is it from a series?
I've still got a few ninjas chillin on the desk. Used to have tons of them, they fought off all kinds of monsters, large spiders, lizards, and dinosaurs back in the day

Gogo's Crazy Bones
It's always frustrating trying to luck out and get that last one.

Somewhere I have an assload of those guys from when I was a young kid. I used to use them as bath toys and have them fight on the edge of my bathtub.
Wondering where the hell I can get these guys

I still have some of those on my self! I remember they crammed 3 of them in a capsule for 50 cents. They're more rubbery and flesh toned than the original pink MUSCLE men. To think some poor bastard Chinaman hand-painted this stuff everyday in a trinket factory in the 80's.

I used to have 100s I bought from a goodwill for $4 but I threw them all away years ago, thinking they were junk.

>thinking they were junk.
Depends on how firm and pink they were. Legit M.U.S.C.L.E. figures didn't come from gumball machines. The real ones are still quite collectible.
these adorable bastards came today
I found some gumball zombies awhile back.

What are these and where can I buy them?

I always thought those were incredibly racist. Not that I really care, but I was surprised such a thing didn't get more flak. I get that nobody cares about the Chinese as a minority group but still, I would expect a few soccer moms to make a fuss.

not looking to stir up controversy, just genuinely curious, what about them is racist to you?

get out of my city thread

Not that guy, but they sorta just speak to uninformed and generalizing attitudes toward Asians. Bok Choy Boys are made by a Canadian company. "Bok choy" is a Cantonese word, and the subtitle of the line is "from the Forbidden City." The Forbidden City is located in Beijing, where Mandarin is spoken for the most part, and in fact, the Beijing dialect is the very root on standarized Mandarin as we know it today. In addition, the Boys are stylized (and even mentioned in marketing materials) to look like ninjas, which are from Japan. The theme of each wave usually deals with the zodiac or the elements or tranquility or some other such Asian "mysticism." And I'm still not sure what the relevance of bok choy, a leafy green vegetable, is to these things other than it was a Chinese word that rhymed with "boy."
I get that it's just a stupid vending machine toy, and this is 4chan so I'm likely to get dismissive or angry replies, but yeah, that's my thoughts on the potential racist qualities of the line. It sucks when people mash up Asian cultures and/or think they're all the same.

us filipinos are lucky. we arent ching chong, but that does make me a little sad that comedians dont make fun of how we change our F's into P's or how we mix up e and i
