>>6445877
The weird part is that Hasbro flips on using the ultra white and the off white frequently. Hasbro in general has a wider variety of colors being used at any given time than Takara it seems. It is probably just stricter budgets on their lines though due to how different the markets they cater to are.

Sharpies are generally more expensive than modelkit paint around here, actually. Either way, it's just a cheap and easy method to stop your supposedly highly Giger-esque super detailed edgy alien robots from looking like bland unpainted blobs.
>>6445936
Ok, so, real question here, for anyone that might have the vaguest idea of what it costs to actually make a toy
How much money would it be at retail to have 80's plastic quality/use like pic related up there, but with modern articulation and engineering?
>>6445941
I mean, probably not much, considering how that's basically what TR did.
>>6445898

It's still fucking ridiculous how badly these companies handle this shit. If they had shown all this at SDCC (or anything else really), people would've been through the fucking roof with happiness. People would've been excited as a motherfucker. Hyped up.
Instead Hasbro tries to clamp down, shows off like 2 fucking figures, and answers all questions with "DURR JUST WAIT". And then when we get actual shit shown, we get hyped as fuck, and they try to tear it down as fast as possible rather than just going "Well, fuck, people are hyped as hell, better build on that hype".
Why the fuck is this company so fucking retarded, /toy/?

>>6446017

I haven't gotten TR Wolfwire yet due to fear of breakage. Has a solution been found to prevent breakage yet? Do we know if the repack has fixed this issue?
>>6446034
>Has a solution been found to prevent breakage yet?
It can't be prevented unless you never transform him, because the problem is a design issue, not a QC one.
Don't know if a repack has fixed it, but I wouldn't count on it. That said, it's the yellow bits that break, not the red ones, so long as the red ones are fine you're OK. I guess you also could just save the yellow hinge parts if they break and try to piece it together with plastic cement, maybe.

>You mean that terrible looking Krok with the square head due to the shitty forced gimmick?
Considering that Krok was a action master with a little aligator buddy for a weapon, making Krok the titan master and then when he's in croc mode with the titan master off to the side, the crocodile mode works well as an homage.
also Gutcruncher and that Optimus Prime we almost got in those sets, are pretty damn clever homages. Gutcruncher especially. Using the Blitzwing mold was genius, it's quiet implied the action master mold turned into a tank and he had a jet accessory he could ride. The colour layout and placing is so spot on.
It makes sad, we may never get a release of that.

Does scorp only bend backwards at the knees
>>6446548
Most baseformers at the time didn't have much leg articulation of value since the legs either bent sideways or backwards to achieve a mode they needed.
After Metroplex and Tryptcion they became more playset-oriented.
You are now aware that canon SG Windblade is Stocking.
I'm starting to get this weird desire to buy a UW Cyclonus, he looks really damn nice and I like the mold a lot.
I don't even want the whole set, just him. Unfortunately buying him individually costs as much as a whole set.

The orion pax use of the Kep mold is very well done. But Trubute doesn't seem to belong to any other line and just has the Transformers AUTHENTIC label on it.

I owned G1 Scorponok as a kid, and he managed to survive until my late teens. He's not worth $300-400, not by a long shot. His articulation is dated, and after so long, I'm sure most of them are shot or worn to the extreme.
>>6446718
>>6446721
This. I'm not even going to disagree that the TR Headmasters could have been implemented in a way that at the very least allowed them to be stored in vehicle molds without being detached, but it's a far better gimmick than having Playskool-tier toys that sacrifice everything to form larger Playskool-tier toys.

Generations Jihaxus. The batlike wings and more streamlined torso design looked really great on the mold.
Plus any fucking chance to see it in any colour but fucking Creamcicle orange would be welcome.
Also Generations Orion Pax. Really amazing articulation, great transformation... only con was its small size. At leaast it got reuses, even if it was only behind the club paywall.
I really wish there were box sets or whatever with every headmaster mold released in Titans Return. There are some headsculpts I really like but I don't care much for the bodies they come with.

Yeah, thats why I'd rather buy a new figure. I grew up with all of these "vintage" figures. They were honestly pretty shitty as action figures. They don't call'em "bricks" for nothing, you know. I'd much rather have something with modern engineering than an old brick, nostalgia be damned.

Doesn't matter if they're mistransformed if it's better than the official mode.
>>6446758
It's all a question of tastes.
I DO love modern figures a lot, but I appreciate vintage figures NOW way more than I ever did.
In my childhood in the 1980's, I only had 3 transformers. Optimus Prime, the Defensor team, and Apeface. All of them were destroyed/lost. Never really cared that much about them as a child. It was all video games.
Then I started collecting as an adult. Got a Optimus ages ago and just recently, I paid mad cash to get Apeface and Defensor back. Dunno what happen, but something clicked in my head and I've got "G1 addiction".
I then got Snapdragon.to go with Apeface. Then G1 Computron to go with the stellar CW boxset. More headmasters... A shitload of Pretenders... and the ENTIRE Action Masters collection minus two figures!
And I sold a TONS of modern figures to my local geek store, Gamestop style, to get most of them. Regrets: none.
I love having the vintage headmaster and the modern TR version side-by-side. Mindwipe and Hardhead will be coming soon. Only 120$CAN each plus taxes.
Yeah, yeah, that money can be spent on some amazing 3p figures. But that's not the point of this collection. It's all about the GLORIOUS VINTAGE!

Uh, Krok's head has always been like that: weirdly aerodynamic, kind of sleek, ultimately ugly and square.
>>6446808
The altmodes of the G1 headmasters are just perfect. And they are FUN to transform.
Then there is the bot modes, who are usually sad, kibbletastic, and brickish. But those bots are adorable, like a retarded little brother. Oh I know of their flaws... which make me appreciate the TR versions even more!
By the way, G1 Kup was relatively cheap at 40$CAN. But because of poor distributions, I'll have to pay the big bucks to import the Titan Return version... Sigh...
On a side note, G1 Repugnus is a LOT of fun. And playing with the banned "cold sparks" feature make me feel like a edgy rebel!
>>6446819
Earth Wars transformations fuck with me because it's all clusterfuck panels sliding everywhere with no attention paid to the actual toys.
And it's not even just on characters that share an animation skeleton due to similar alt modes, Megatron has no goddamn excuse short of electromagnetism for what he does.
And for my last nitpick, the way Superion is designed tells me they didn't close the chest panels OR the abdominal panel when getting references for his design.

>>6446873

>>6446663
What? The head coming off instead of having to make a space in the body for it to fold away didn't make better transformations, since that space is still there and used for the head to sit in in robot mode. Titans Return has had some of the worst, most basic fucking transformations since probably UT. It's almost all just "fold up the legs, flip the backpack to the front of the vehicle, tuck in the arms" with a couple adding a flashy extra step, like Triggerhappy and Topspin spinning the backpack around, to trick people into thinking their transformations were amazing. Kup is really the only one that does something interesting.
So I've taken a break off Ebay to search for local deals in national online marketplaces and found two really interesting ones from separate sellers who are probably completely clueless about what they're giving away:
>1) four Pretender shells (Stranglehold, Longtooth, Starscream and Bludgeon) without any individual inner robots or accessories
>2) a completely MISB G2 Blaze, with the box basically looking brand new
Both of these are going for about 20 euros, which converts to some measly 23 USDs. The thing is, while I'm not exactly filthy poor, I'm also a collegefag who's economically dependent from his parents and the only money I'll be getting from them is in about a week and a half, which means until then I only have exactly 20 euros on my pocket to spend on non-vital stuff.
So, which one of these should I buy at the moment and which one should I hold out on? Pls halp.
>>6446878
The 8 inch one?
Same as iron factory. Point still stands.
>>6446879
>Spinning the backpack around to trick people into thinking their transformations were amazing
It was something that nothing in in the franchise had done competently and as a result got a lot of publicity, and made the two modes feel considerably unique.
The space they're talking about isn't just a five-walled box, it's something that, like Kup, can allow for shit to fold away cleanly. Topspin and Twintwist use Kup AND Triggerhappy's tricks in tandem, and the only real flaw I'll give the Jumpstarter twins is that the alt modes are inherently "Use your imagination" blocks.
>>6446879
Basic transformations are better, since you're actually more wanting to change things back and forth. Nobody ever says "oh boy, I feel like transforming my RotF figures from robot to car mode!" beyond maybe Voyager Starscream.
Someone explain to me why emgo is so popular? It's literally an old man rambling on and on and on telling lame old man jokes.

I mean, sure, if you want to pay $800 for a TR Legends figure. You do know why no one makes anything in the US, right? Because we have actual rules for workers and working conditions, and that costs money. Thats why the US has like no manufacturing, because to make shit at the price people want, they have to set up in 3rd world shitholes and put suicide netting all around the factories so the workers can't kill themselves trying to escape their nightmare 23 hour work days, during which they're whipped and beaten if they don't assemble your toy fast enough.
>>6447114
Wew. This is pretty bad. At least there's some proof now why everyone's figure is janky. Still love mine.
Also, you forgot to mention this post states that there is already a KO completed.
Hasbro / Takara really needs to tighten the reigns on these lazy sneaky chinks
>>6447127

>>6447129
Has anyone figured out what exactly the mold issues are yet? It would be nice to identify a good MPM from a bad one more easily.
>Hasbro / Takara really needs to tighten the reigns on these lazy sneaky chinks
Yeah that's not gonna happen. If you want anything done in china you have to expect that the chinks are gonna chink.
>>6447135
From what I can tell, everyone's pretty much the exact same issues. There's a few places that don't tab in correctly. After careful inspection of the figure I can't find any mold flash or misaligned pins. Seems like basically everything is like a milimeter off or something.
Again, I still love mine. All the problems are minor and he's tons of fun. No way to regret such a bad ass looking figure. Also, I'm sure we'll get a 2.0 eventually, I can't help but wonder if the KO will fix any issues. Seems like they busted it out awfully quick
>>6447130
>enough money for a WHOLE bag of rice
>and meat
If you were a slave factory worker you'd get a cup of rice and if you were lucky, some roaches would be in it and that'd be your meat.
[spoilersdonutworkontoy]Yeah I jest, but seriously, the conditions are completely horrible but super cheap, thats why almost all manufacturing is done in 3rd world hellholes[/spoilersdonutworkontoy]
>>6447129
>Hasbro / Takara really needs to tighten the reigns on these lazy sneaky chinks
You meant gooks.
They make transformers in Vietnam now.
Few years ago Bandai started to move some of its candy toys and capsule stuff production to Vietnam and it went disastrous.
The stuff in my image suffered bad paint QC and screw up right/left arm mixes that sellers were claiming only 1/4 of the 2 Mark 2 were fit for retail.
Bandai ended up making wave 23 in China again and re-release the wave 22 stuff under special edition wave.
>>6446879
I have triggerhappy, and it's his cockpit/torso that spins, not the nosecone backpack. Also his shoulders fold out to position the wings. And his waist rotates 180 to position the legs for jet mode. That's all relatively complicated, yet simple enough to still be fun to do.
His only flaw is the arm kibble hindering his arms, but even Starscream usually has that issue because his null ray cannons on his arms.
>>6446927
Sometimes I prefer to watch optibotimus. I just tend to jump through alot of the video. Like, straight to figure, then to transformation. I also skip ahead if he ever spends more than a few min talking about something other than the figure itself (canon or what he wishes they had done or what he prefers to "pretend" is the reason a figure is the way it is). That usually cuts a good 10 min out of the experience.
Sometimes I'll watch emogo, also skipping straight to the figure. But it's harder to skip past the things that annoy me because they're so tightly ingrained with the important shit I want to know.

Actual information starts at about 7:30. You transform him as such that you close the cab doors into place as the last step of the hood transformation rather than the first, making specifically sure to fit the window panel and the door panel into place together. Also it very easily pops back out of place, so if you want to touch him in vehicle mode at all it doesn't seem like a decent solution unless you purely want to display it.
