>Can we please stop with the whole delusion that UW Devestator functions as an MP stand-in?
Hasui did say in an interview he wanted it to be mp-like and the fact that each component is voyager sized makes it believable, that said its mp LIKE, not an actual mp, the fact the figures themselves have LESS play (ie hook's crane extension) does hurt.

For me, personally I'll just treat it as a separate figure from my generations or mp's, infact all of my combiners and titans and even my soon to arrive supreme class figures have their own little space

One thing, devvy is 6 bots is he not, then the up coming predaking being only 5...does that mean he'sgonna be smaller than devvy or will they end up being BIG voyagers?
>>
>>6440897
When you have him on a shelf with other Generations figures, he looks just fine. Every time I see him on the shelf with somebody's MPs, it makes my eyes bleed.

Well, he doesn't have a waist swivel, and the giant microscope on his shoulder can block some head movement, but you can move or remove it, so unless you've got a massive hardon to keep the microscope straight over his shoulder and in absolutely no other positions ever, he'll be able to look anywhere just fine.

Supposedly according to peugh's review only a certain serial number on trypticon batches was affected with bad hips, where do I find out what batches and where is this serial number?

While I have modded mine and he works fine knowing I can reset mine (as mine is a reversible method) would be interesting

He already sounds/looks good enough for me, I'm not sure why other anons say they're disappointed. Does the microscope stow vertically on the back, like Hardhead/Quake's cannon can? It doesn't have to, I'm sold already but it'd be cool if it could.

Well, the only one that really needs to be a larger figure is Razorclaw since the torso is what makes up at least half of the height. I'm guessing he won't be quite as tall as Devs and I'm willing to bet there will be more integrated parts like hands and feet to the limb bots to help distribute some of that mass and balance out proportions a little.

It's on a hinge that's very similar to Hardhead's, yes. He can be a bit back heavy, but you can also fold out his treads for tank mode to give him huge heel spurs if you really need to put him in a post that might see him tumble back.

You have the choice to change the toys lines of transformers forever, but a sacrifice will have to be made.

>Blue box INCREASES the cost of retail transformers by 40%, masterpiece transformers and all of the special takara developed products ie the tie ins like hello kitty and disney x transformers are all gone, but the result shall leave the perfect balance of a transforming, highly articulated figure with the same unified deco between western and eastern version, with ONLY the generations line as all new shows and cast shall have their characters merged in ie legends class figures may feature rescue bot characters voyagers and leaders shall be most wanted characters like optimus prime etc
>all media tie ins continue as normal
>anything larger than a leader that isn't a gestalt will NOT appear

>red box removes all standard retail lines and gimmick tie in lines from both has-tak, but we get masterpieces with perfect proportions, actual book type manuals, and prices go down by 20% apart from "most wanted" characters who go up by 10% but all have a voice box function that does not affect transformations, with no online store exclusives or convention only versions
>all media will be adjusted because has-tak will finally accept the only ones who give the slightest shit are adult collectors who apparently have the money to own
>there WILL be mp city formers, but the cost will be alot higher (naturally) and harder to obtain due to limited production runs

There will be other side effects to other lines due to the shifts, so you could potentially make or break the brand just to please yourself.

Make the choice, or forever cry at how has-tak screws you over

The downside would be the designs, never did I mention the "perfect portions" meant perfect sculpts, people are quite subjective, take mp36, proportions are great but the sculpt (and design for that matter) leaves people desired, still generations toys at a higher mark up pumped out more often would fill a collector's hole quicker than mp's ever will

I'm pretty pissed that, given this line is having a combiner titan means we won't get another city bot until 2019 at the earliest, and even then, given that we're getting two titan decepticons in a row, Omega Supreme will almost certainly be the next titan after.
Which means I'm going to have to wait until 2020, maybe 2021 for fucking scorponok.
They should at least give us a fucking leader class of him. It's kind of insane that, after by the end of the prime wars trilogy, we'll have all the city bots, all the combiner groups (except maybe seacons) all of the autobot and decepticon leaders (Except a full body thunderwing, and a straxus) but still no scorponok

>but how good is Broadside?

He's honestly not that good. He's not really got any problems (that I know of, my copy was fine), but he's just sort of...There. He's not specifically bad, but he feels like a line filler of sorts. His ship mode is fine, but it's basically just a plastic plank. Which, well, ok, I guess a lot of TF's that aren't wheeled vehicles can be described as that.

His jet mode is raw garbage unless you fanmode it, but the fanmode leaves a gap in the back clean through, despite looking 10x better than the official. Though you don't see it unless you're looking straight down at him, you will see that theres obviously some gap there.

Personally, I like him, but a lot of people don't, and for some solid reasons. Like I said, he's not bad at all, he's just...I guess "average" is the word? Most triple changers do have at least one shit mode though, so I guess in that light he's exactly what you'd expect.

The thing companies never seem to understand is no one ever really likes surprises. They like information. They want to know it all, and then some. By playing coy all they're doing is encouraging leaks and other shit. Look at Japanese companies, they tell you whats coming a few months, to a year or more in advance, which, y'know, is good practice when you've got people hungry to buy certain things.

The bad batch of Trypticons arose from employees at the Vietnamese factories attempting to make after hours specials so they could personally sell them for profit. Hasbro caught wind of this which was why their engineers were aware of the issue. There is nothing wrong with trypticon it was just poor assembly due to bad employees. Some of them unfortunately did make it out into the open. The spring parts in question were cut wrong.

SDCC Already sold out of Primitive Optimus Prime, the Revolution Box Set and Movie prime will be the only Transformer related exclusives up and you maybe have less than 10 primatives that were not claimed by people.

The Hascon Exclusives are being produced in much smaller numbers than the SDCC ones they're being made on an antendee reservation basis for the Joes, My Little Pony, and Littlest Pet Shop. Essentially if something is popular at hascon it will be nearly impossible to get after the convention is over.

Not getting a Leader Scorponok is really fucking weird. It's actually my main grief of TR.
>G1 Scorponok toy had a helmet
>TR Leader class gimmick is helmets
>They also have base modes
>Would scale with PMOP (Marvel reference, which non-japs mostly know Scorponok for)
It would have been so damn perfect. When TR came I actually thought they made Leaders that way specifically with Scorponok in mind.

Yeah, unfortunately. Proof is that the Titan Master is called Scorponok and not Zarak.

>This is about people trying to say with a straight face that it matches the complexity, plastic quality
I'll have to agree, that's a pretty stupid assumption...

>and overall aesthetic as an MP figure
What? No! That's exactly the one thing, if not the only thing, that CW Devastator succeeds at. Yes, the individual robots are rubbish, the engineering is childish and atrocious, but look at how aesthetically pleasing this motherfucker is! Give it an upgrade kit and a few reprolabels and you basically have something that's genuinely on tier with Masterpieces, at the very least as far as displaying it goes. Personally, I like to keep it on a separate shelf next to Maximus and Trypticon since it's easier to have all those massive figures on a larger display, but I wouldn't mind having him alongside MPs one single bit. He really looks fantastic, a pity everything else sucks about him.
>>
>>6441179
From the waist up, CW Devy is nice, but his legs are really just awful, they're pretty much only good for A-stances.
>>
The thing that UW Devastator does well is that it actually looks imposing and you can tell it's a fucking giant just by looking at its proportions. By comparison TW Devastator just looks like some lanklet who happened to get upscaled.

The prices are usually much cheaper too(outside of the US), the reason why my order came close to local retail is because of the TMs. Those 3 are poorly distributed too there so they cost a few dollars more than other TMs. Without the TMs, Octone alone would be 30% cheaper than local retail prices here.

There are risks though

it's not intended as a "you should buy all 3 days" unless you're a big fan of ALL of hasbro's properties
90% of the programming is repeated all 3 days. It's quite similar to a lot of other toy shows.
Buy a 1 day pass, shop, go to a few panels, have fun

Also, it seems heavily implied that the arcee and UM we got teased will be there. If not exclusive, they'll be "debuting" there.

>>
>>6441302
Oh, so the voyager gauntlets are not the combiner's feet/hands? How about the deluxes shown in sdcc?
>>
>>6441306

We don't have all the details of how it works yet, but all deluxes come with armor and voyagers come with a pair of gauntlets - from that you're able to form hands and feet for combiners. You may need all the armor/gauntets to form the hands and feet, or you may have some spare parts (that can be attached to the gestalt elsewhere) - Hasbro haven't made it clear yet.

The deluxes and voyagers shown at SDCC didn't have the clip-on armor and gauntlets with them - presumably because it would have made it obvious that they're combiners, and Hasbro is being coy about that until Hascon.
>>

My main issue is that the new feet are a bit on the small side, like the old ones.
>>

>>6441955
The new one almost looks like the peg can move back and forth.

How were the third party feet in comparison?
>>
>>6441976
Poseability was about the same, but the 3rd party had rubber bits on the bottom to prevent slipping and could be stowed...sort of. If you didn't think massive gattling guns or rail guns on the side of sports cars or ambulances were out of place, I guess they could be stowed.
>>
>>6441992
It's not just the fact that 3rd party ones had rubber bits, but also the computron ones not having an underside, period, so the difference in traction is even greater.

The CW hand/foot accessory was made to act as a weapon so it could do something of note with the figure it came with if you didn't have a full four deluxes and a voyager, a reality a lot of kids would probably face for a while. Definitely took a heavy hit in regards to acting as a foot, but they were actually damn good hands.
>>
>>6442180
And the obvious bit, that they didn't want kids limited by buying a character, and that character only having a hand part. Having the piece act as both made things more flexible.

I'm a bit disappointed Hasbro and Takara didn't try to please the older fans by having something like Computron's Hand and Foot pieces for Amazon or HTS/TTM.

Many people would have preferred if Hasbro released something like blind bags that used the heads (from all toys in the line), and released them in colors that matched.

Takara teased that in their Legends comic but it didn't go anywhere

Keep in mind the years preceding it were full of hot garbage, Alternators was dead and the movie hadn't happened yet, then suddenly one day you see Hot Rod where yesterday there'd been only Energon trash. Classics was the shot in the arm that got me back into collecting, since it finally appeared that there was a chance at getting modern versions of G1 characters, which hadn't really happened before. We sort of take it for granted, but there was a time when the most accurate Optimus and Bumblebee you could get were the Heroes of Cybertron statues.

There's a few figures from the line I have and enjoy but really I just saw no reason to collect during that period and wound up getting the ones I have now on clearance for next to nothing just to have some background/filler bots and cons.

He's all over eBay
>>
>>6442444
Scattorshot is amazing, what are you talking about?
>>
>>6442405
I'm kind of in a weird place. For most of my childhood I only had Beast Wars KOs because that was all I could afford save for the odd real Kenner figure that would go into becoming a major player by default of needing to be lobbied into my collection with every argument I could muster; however, some of the toys of my favorite characters in the show (Rattrap, Tigatron, Tarantulas, Rampage) were either crazy expensive or just never in stock (no internet either so I could have never known that Tigatron was released one year before my parents bothered to buy me the things), so I ended up preferring fun and solid action figures over good representations because I couldn't afford being too picky and I had to come up with my own line up to which I became more attached to.

>>6442409
To be fair Beast Wars while good it's not for everyone, RID was weird, Armada was terrible for the most part, and Energon was somehow worse than Armada.
I didn't like Cybertron either because of the proportions but it was the best toyline before the movie lines reinvented transformers as toys and it came like 23 years after the original G1.

I grew up with a box of hand-me-down G1 figs added to slowly with G2 then BW stuff over time. When RiD lost my attention and was followed by Armada, I got out of buying TFs again until I started seeing Classics show up. CHUG was specifically something I'd always wanted as a kid.
>>
>>6442393
>I'm starting to think Classics was a "you had to be there bro" kind of deal. I find pretty much every figure from that line to be uglier than sin itself.
I very much disagree but you're welcome to your opinion. I and many others hold the line in high regard because it struck a nice balance of G1 aesthetics with more modern sensibilities. Not every figure aged well but the bulk of them still hold up to this day as good looking, fun, and decently articulated toys.
>for all I know it could be barely functional as an action figure like Starscream is
Definitely not the case. Starscream was a product of re-using a mold that didn't age very well. Still serviceable to look at and the transformation on him was fun but engineering on the CHUG figures had advanced a good amount since that mold was first released and he's not much for posing by comparison.

Cyclonus, however was a great figure. Fun and clever transformation that was simple yet satisfying, looked good in both modes, no real obtrusive kibble, nothing extreme but still pretty poseable... Easily one of the better deluxe CHUG figures we've gotten. TR Triggerhappy actually reminds me of him a little bit just in terms of the creativity in his transformation.

lolwut? The first Classics were a short line of mostly solid figures that are generally praised by fans and Universe had a lot of good stuff, not just Hound and Cyclonus but also Prowl and the Datsun brothers, Sideswipe and the Lambor brothers, the minicar Legends, Hot Shot, Onslaught, Inferno / Grapple, amongst a shitload of other memorable figures. Some others were failed experiments, like Galvatron and Cheetor, but at the very least they tried something new and compensated for their engineering overcomplications with generally solid aesthetics that still made them proper display pieces even if failures at the qualia of being toys. That is not as good as Generations did in the following years with all those near perfect molds being released one after the other but still, it was far better than the mess CW / TR / PotP currently is.

My issue with Classics Starscream has never been with the mold's degradation or the cartoonishly excessive reuse but with it not being good at posing at all. Of course the only pose it can achieve is the classic standing straight with arms to the side every other transfag uses for their displays so that might have helped it retain some of its popularity.
I got a Robotmasters Starscream by accident (stupid fucking cockpit fell off while trying to transform it) and I feel it's better all around except for the terrible likeness.

Oh shit my bad. That would explain the lack of 3P discussion here

Pretty sure I'm gonna go pick one up tomorrow, I found two at my TRU today and I've always entertained the thought of owning one. I'm in Canada so it's even more expensive :I

Wait fuck, the hasbro version has been reissued? I mean, I highly doubt I'll find one on the shelf here in Portland but fucking hell I need a new one ever since this happened.

Looks pretty fun, what'd he set you back, if you don't mind?

Not him but most sites have him for $25 right now.

We already know they're doing Twintwist at some point since they teased it, so it's likely they'll do Topspin as well.

That's not terrible, I've mostly avoided the 3rd party stuff apart from the Ironfist someone made, and the tiny Arcee that came with a tiny Windblade sword. Is there a comparison shot of that Shockwave next to some ubiquitous TF for scale?

Closest I could find at a glance is this shot from Peaugh's review comparing him to Legion Shockwave

Also he's made by the same company as that tiny Arcee and the same company is coming out with a Legion scale Bruticus that can hold that shockwave.

This would only be acceptable if we actually got cassettes, not these sad attempts at iFone.>>6442559

Where the fuck did you get 3P stuff on retail?! You lucky bastard, I haven't seen a single specialized store around here doing that.
>>
>>6442779
They are rare. I know Captured Prey has a few displays in stores in Kentucky.

There's a local shop in the Portland, OR area that gets them in but I think most of theirs were sold to them second hand by individuals rather than trying to get them in stock.

rather than ordering them through distributors or companies, I mean.
>>
>>6442763
I thought kids were into retro shit and vaporwave now. There was no reason to not make them cassettes.
>>
>>6442791
Hasbro is behind the times at all times.
>>
>>6442763
I think it would have been acceptable if they actually turned into good-looking robots and had tampographs instead of stickers so all their details wouldn't shred off if you tried playing with them.

I got mine through a hobby store that stocks Gunpla as well as HasTak and third party figures. Bridge Watcher was on sale from $40 USD to $25 USD, so I'd probably assume other 3P stuff would be marked up so that they'd still make a profit.

But anyway, this isn't the place for me to go on about 3P stuff.
