Why can't such a huge franchise have good figures. It's all these baby statues or ones with like 2 POA. Either that or plushies.

Why the hell did the Figuarts line have to die?
>>
Will we finally get decent pokemon figures this wonfes? And by that i mean the pokemon, not humans. D-arts was a nice try but they stopped, and the VAH bombed i guess. I'd even take revoltech

>Why the hell did the Figuarts line have to die?
I thought we just got Ash and Team Rocket. Did they sent out the B Naruto team to do them?

Anyway I just got a haul of Poke Studios Resin Gyarados. It might be statueshit, but Gyarados has always been my bro in every game, I always buy the Magikarp from Magikarp salesman (which is actually a smart choice) and have him wreck havoc at level 20.

These unlicensed Chinese resin statues are super legit. I think I got a legit one, it comes with gold plated metal card that says #178 out of 200. The problem is that the distribution is super sketchy, the resin statues on Ebay are pretty overpriced. I got mine from Taobao, but you have to take the gamble everytime. I'm not sure how many bootleg resin kits are there. If there is a fellow Pokemon resin statue collector here willing to share the safest and least sketchy way of getting this statues it would be greatly appreciated. I couldn't even find the website of the company/people who make these.

Here's a pic of 3 pokemons who are staple on my RBY team. I wish there's a decently sized Nidoking, Fearow, and Kadabra (never had friend to trade) to complete my team.
>>
>>6440837
Theres SHFiguarts of Team Rocket and Ash which just came out, and SHF Lucario and pikachu, plus a figma Red on the way and theres the D Arts Mewtwo Charizard, Blastoise, Venesaur, and Blazekin

and theres collector figures of mewtwo and lucario from some company i dont remember the name
>>

The TOMY stuff was pretty good, especially for what they were, and we're still getting that sweet Snorlax from them too no less.

Moncolle Pokeballs are out.

Pros
>EXTREMELY affordable
>Multiple styles available
>Pearlecent finish
>Same size as Clip 'n' Carry Pokeballs but perfectly round
>Weighted so they're always upright after wobbling
>Extendable double-hinge
>Fits standard Moncolle figures inside

Cons
>Not functional button
>No belt clip
>No details inside
>No sculpted detail outside (if applicable)

8/10 Would buy again. (already did)

I'm not sure this is the cheapest option. I don't really understand Chinese, and don't know what characters to search, so I just searched a price range and pick the mid tier one out of concern the cheap ones might be bootleg. I did my search with baseline of $100+ price range because otherwise you have to sieve through thousands of dollar store pokemon merch on taobao
>>
>>6441740
Oh just to add, be really sure that if you guys want to dive into taobao rabbit hole to use english forwarding service that accept Paypal.

The taobao website doesn't do paypal and the menus are in chinese. You will be in a world of hurt if you want to claim and dispute some bootlegs, or in worst case scenario your item never arriving/shipping. So as I said, the hoops to get these resin figures are super sketchy. If anyone knows a better way/source to get our hands on these high quality unlicensed resin figure it would be really appreciated.

>>
>>6441740
>>6441794
For that price it's easier to just buy it on eBay for a couple bucks more. Although it's expensive as hell for coming with nothing but Gyarados.
>>
>>6441830
Yeah, it is obvious I don't know what I'm doing and still learning the ropes into this really really niche collector market. But for a supposedly 200 units figure run super limited edition premium resin statue I think it is reasonable. Remember resin is way more expensive per g than plastic, and these guys (if they're not the bootleg ones) are probably hand painted. The price is comparable to fully painted Japanese garage kits exclusives. The ebay offering charges preposterous, like $50+ for shipping for the same Gyarados on ebay, and the selection aren't as good as taobao. I'm not shilling for taobao or anything, obviously for the smaller 3 inch resin statues, like the bulbasaur etc it is better to get it on ebay as they're $50 free shipping
>>
>>6441849
Yeah but there is a listing on eBay that has the Gyarados statue for like $190 after that ridiculous shipping. Seems worth it to pay the extra $20 to not have to deal with finding someone else to help you buy it and taking the risk.

I might go for it considering it looks good with the Figuarts pokemon and we'll never get one of Gyarados. Even though that line would be fucking perfect for a figure of him.

Follow Pokeshopper. This is their page for this year's TOMY lineup http://pokeshopper.com/tomy2017.html

Tyranitar, Venusaur, and Jigglypuff were sold at SDCC as "pre releases" with a wide retail release due in August. I've only seen the Charizard, Ninetails, Blastoise, and Arcanine for sale on TOYWiz and Amazon, so I dunno how wide this wide release would be.

However, GameStop has them for sale (or did, a few days ago) in their SDCC exclusive toys section. I've also seen it for preorder on ToyWiz, but they want like 70$ for it (cost 40$ at the con). He's a gorgeous plushie.

>>6443921
They are mini statues because they aren't humanoid, they're 1-2 inch pieces of plastic and giving a 1 inch bird head, wing and leg articulation isn't really feasible. The only reason why'd you bring it up here anyway is because they come with a toy ie nendos, figmas, figuarts

Even the games aren't consistent with size. And honestly Pokemon sizes are so retarded I feel like it would be better if they just didn't exist. The amount of Pokemon you think would be bigger than the average human and then you find out they're like 4 foot tall is staggering. And then stuff like Groudon being less than 12'. It's touted as the creator and ruler of all land and it would drown in the deep end of your public pool.

Pokemon Gatchapon snow globes arrived from Candysan. 4 styles, so I ordered 5 in hopes of getting one of each, and I did! They were around 3$ each.

Came with sticker decals I had to put on. The back of the sticker with Slowpoke that says Water Dome has a gradient background for the scene inside the globe!

Glitter got everywhere. Surprisingly, the rubber stopper holds fast. I'm not worried about it popping, but put some clear packing tape over it anyway.

The Pokemon aren't figures, they're just pictures on thin plastic screens. The dome is glued to the base and can't be opened without doing some damage.

Overall, I'm very happy with them, even if I think they looked a bit nicer without the sparkles and water.

Basically this. If it looks like it should be around the size of a human, I try to go for that. If it looks like it should be a shouldermon, I got for that. >>6446134
if you're on a budget, and thinking about it I probably wouldn't pull the trigger if you KNOW you aren't going to regret it later

For imported figure they're pretty limited and the design is 50/50, I think they feel pretty good though and have a nice shelf presence

If you're a diehard pokemon fan that breathes the franchise, you want some pretty good trainer figures, and you'll 100% regret it later then i'd pull the trigger now

Any VAH Mewtwo owners around that could comment after some time with it? Was gifted the D-Arts with Mew and it's been an okay figure, but the proportions were a bit soft to myself.
Also while the shading may be a bit much on the actual production figures going by some reviews, I do like the look of the VAH a bit more; just very little experience with figures from the VAH lines...

Also is at all possible for a VAH Scizor to happen(heck anything articulated for Scizor?), remember the VAH Mewtwo is tied to Pokken. So could the Switch re-release be the second wind for Megahouse?

Thanks for any help!
>>
>>6446568
I threw mine away, didn't like the sculpt or the shading and the leg joints look strange
>>
>>6446568
I got one as a present and it broke in half at the waist. I ended up getting it exchanged for 4 inch nel X and a Waddle dee plush instead.
>>
>>6446568
owned both. articulation and sculpt-wise, the VAH wins for me. the leg joints are a lot more flexible, and the wrist joint is a better alternative to the articulate fingers. it's smaller, but it's lighter and less chunky. even the tail is better since it isn't segmented.
>>
>>6446573
why would you throw it away? are you retarded, why wouldn't you sell it?

I would pre-order day one if they released a VAH Scizor. Makes me sad that the Mewtwo & Lucario bombed though, less of a chance to see more from that line.

At best, I expect them to release another shitty Pikachu and Blaziken.

Just arrived!

Exeggutor's neck has one of those articulated plastic skeletons inside it! Makes it much sturdier than just stuffing and it can be posed! Sandygast's mouth hole goes straight through him!

Ditto and Mew have a few different ways to be attached to your shoulder, hat, bag, whatever you want them to sit on. There's the plastic clasp thing and what is basically a clear bra strap. It can unhook from the plastic ring base and be wound through a strap and cinched up and reattached. And they have the basic ball chain keyring on top, which can be removed if you want.

Mimikyu's Pokedoll is too precious. Raichu and Rockruff are Mocchiri are very soft and squishy.

Very happy with them all!
>>
>>6448533
Well if they're smart, both Bandai and Max Factory will give other Trainers in-scale Pokemon that wouldn't get a solo release otherwise. Right now I see them going as far as Ash/Red, Misty, Brock, Gary/Blue, and Jessie & James/Giovanni.

Bandai can give these guys Pokemon that were on their teams exclusively in the anime. Meanwhile, Max Factory can give them Pokemon that were on their actual teams in the games. For example, Figuarts Brock can come with a Zubat or Golbat (preferably the latter for me). Then Max Factory can give game Brock Geodude. Perhaps with this release one of them will be daring enough to make Onix.

I don't think Pokemon in these lines are dead/not happening. I think Trainers will be the catalysts for them, like with the Nendoroids. Only thing is it may exclusively be Gen 1 Pokemon unless Max Factory branches out past FRLG, which they certainly & easily could unlike Bandai.
>>
>>6449956
For the small Turkey sized pokemon, a Tomy statues will perfectly suffice though and they already exists
>>
>>6449965
Sure. That's why I personally hope for Golbat, Starmie, Dugtrio. Bigger Pokemon that don't normally get the chance to show their size. For that same reason, I wouldn't mind more attempts at basic articulation, as weird as the Pikachu with Figuarts Ash looks. It would be something different from the Moncolles and be potentially good. The Piachu with Nendoroid Ash looks pretty nice, for instance. If they could make into a Starmie that spins and a Geodude with 90s arm articulation, that'd be great.

There's a picture of my bedroom over in the plushie general. I've got basically a wall of plushies. I play with them and cuddle them. When my anxiety spikes, I bring keychain size ones out with me to help me.

But I'm a middle aged married woman. I'm not too worried what someone else thinks of my hobby and my choice of collection. I don't get the point of buying ultra expensive statues or action figures and just locking them in a glass case. But I can understand it makes some people happy, and because of that joy, I love seeing other collections, even if they're not my cup of tea.

Back in my 20s, I used to wish I was "normal" and I spent my money on clothes, shoes, makeup, going to bars or clubs or whatever else was "age appropriate." Took a long time to reach the "fuck it" stage where I can accept myself. Im glad I'm there. And I'm very glad for the collector communities where I can share in everyone's treasured collections. :)

That's a real game changer. Shame most of the protagonist Trainers will be the female if they get made. I like them, but I like Brendan, Hilbert, and Calem. At least we'll definitely get Gold for Gen 2.

Also, I hope they go back to G1 to get Blue/Green. Also other G1 characters, but Blue is a nigh necessity. We need more antagonist Trainers who would fiercely battle these protagonists we are getting. Between the two lines, all we have is Jessie and James who are child's play.

I'm not sure what you're getting at. Of course they're only in scale with other 1/40 figures. What's your point? No one's irritated that PG and RG Gundams don't scale with one another.

>and the smaller they are, the worse the sculpting is

Well, yeah, some of the smallest figures are less than a centimeter in size. For what they are (relatively cheap gashapon toys), I think they're generally well done -- also, I think the painting is generally more hit-and-miss than the sculpts.

Quite a few of the more recent series are relatively cheap. And even though a lot of the earlier series are prohibitively expensive, if you buy off, say, Buyee (or other Japanese Ebay- or Amazon-like sites), you can find them for pretty cheap -- the problem is that a lot of these sites have high shipping costs or weird additional fees, so it usually makes sense to buy a bunch at once. You can often piece sets together for a fraction of the price from the kind of "grab bag" sets people sell, too. Barring the Porygon line, all the sets I have I managed to get for $15-20 tops, with most around $7-10.

I wish they came with pokeballs though. Sorta pricy, but I'm still very pleased we are finally getting articulated trainer figures.

What are some of your favourite figures in your Pokémon collection?
Pic related is one of mine; it's a bit cliché, but I love everything about him. The baby starters are cute and chubby and Reds proportions are great. Feels like they all walked right out of the sprite games. Would love to have the skills to make/print a diorama for him, like a replica of his home in Pallet.

I like the Ash, Jesse and James, wish they came with more hands and faces though. Ash only comes with two extra hands, and all 3 only come with one extra face. In one of their heads each Jesse and James are both looking off in one direction, kind of hinders the poses you can put em into. Either way they're still fun no doubt.

Looking at everyone's collection in this thread has definitely got me jealous though haha.

Takara Tomy Hero Machamp or Greninja. They're like the best figures we got of these characters and have relatively good articulation.

Can anyone who's ordered from Plaza Japan tell me how long the Economy shipping usually takes to arrive? I'm figuring a month or so, but man I want my Mimikyu!
>>
>>6460489
I preordered the Mimikyu PokeDoll and it arrived sometime in the last few days using standard shipping.

I don't know for sure when it arrived since I'm away at college right now, but it shipped the 22nd

I was so closed to getting charizard yesterday, but then I saw that pretty much anywhere is going to charge you up the ass for shipping ($169 total for charizard, when the figure itself is just $80)

any word on these coming to pokemon center or amazon?

are pokemon figuarts, the mons themselves, dead?
>>
>>6463792

>>
>>6463979
Yeah probably, Blaziken shelf warmed pretty hard after all, not to mention Pikachu. Maybe we'll get more if the anime trainers do really well, but probably not.
>>
>>6464194
>>6463979
I don't think there are any other starter mons that are popular enough to sell well. Maybe Greninja, but some have speculated that they missed the boat on that. If they did, Bandai would probably do something awful like Ash-Greninja, who would just stick out like a sore thumb in your scale collection. It's a pity.

If they're doing trainers though, I hope Kasumi is on the roster.
>>
>>6464194
Why was that?
>>
>>6464281
Because muh gen1, and the Pikachu was utter garbage and completely the wrong scale for people's Smash displays.

why.

Not sure if this question belongs here but does anybody know a good place to buy/preorder pokemon plushes that aren't released in the US yet? Some upcoming San-ei plushes really caught my attention.
>>
>>6466796
Those are sold on most import websites, you don't need to find one that sells pokemon center merchandise. Here they are on HLJ (https://hlj.com/scripts/hljlist?ItemGroup=SAB030817), but if you have a preferred site check if they have them. Also they probably won't ever be released in the US, so buy them now if you want them.
>>
>>6466796
HLJ, Amiami, Plaza Japan, Play-Asia

So how are the pokemon plamo? If I like Gundam kits, are they any good?
