And a shot of the bottom. The top/bottom hangar parts can be replaced with open hangar parts, and furthermore removing the bottom hangar piece reveals a Tamashii Stage port.

Thanks for the shot! Exactly what I was looking for. They really nailed the scale, honestly that dang police car is a huge reason I'm interested in the Saturn. I just love all the environmental extras they've been adding to the Patlabor releases, can't wait for the Tyrant and all his stuff.

Was there anything about the Saturn that surprised you or particularly stood out to you?

Bruh like I said in the gunpla thread, it's a great fuckin toy. Go back and watch that YouTube video I linked, the engineering on it is ridiculous. Yeah, I wish they hadn't put diecast in the chest, but it's still an absurdly cool looking and expertly engineered toy.

Im pretty sure you can get it for cheaper than that. 00S2 mainline RDs were made in mass amounts, like MSiA scale and many of the stocks ended up clearing for 15 bucks in Japanese and other Asian markets.

There's a Hi-Metal R two-piece set of Regults with both types of missile pack and a stand coming up for pre-order at the end of the month apparently. ~15k jpy.
>>
>>6439161
I guess I'll get the RX-78-1 then, good thing I didn't already buy it (I've no RX-78). Well, the stand might not be worth having a cheaper price. Last but not least, thank you for the heads up.

Actually, one more thing: where's that sexy eco-ass? I know the colors are off, but it's still appealing.
>>
>>6439217
>Regult
That'll go strangely well alongside figma Atlas, visually at least.
>>
so what's the huge difference between these spirits and the mobile suit in action stuff?
>>
>>6439602
Quality. RDs are a huge step up in detailing and articulation.

I was a gunpla-only person for years because the MSIA toys were so ugly and simple. RDs really turned me into a toy collector, before RDs I only bought gunpla.
>>
>>6438847
That's funny, I recently ordered a Masurao from Mandarake to go with my Superbia GNX. I should have it within a week.

I was torn if I should get the Susanowo or the Masurao, and decided on the latter for the color scheme and beam katana and tachi.

You could check Mandarake, but if I remember right they weren't too much cheaper. In fact, here's a link:
https://order.mandarake.co.jp/order/detailPage/item?itemCode=1067355444&ref=list
There's one for 3500 yen if you scroll down a bit, which converts to about $31 USD before shipping, which means you'd still spend around $40-$45 after the shipping costs.

In-store only? Would be cool if we can get it through online retailers too.

>>6439165
I think $35 may actually be around the lower end of pricing for Susanowo at this point. The cheapest one in stock at Mandarake is 3500JPY, which is less than $35 but after shipping you'll probably be paying around $40.

https://order.mandarake.co.jp/order/detailPage/item?itemCode=1062451571&ref=dos

Towards the bottom you can see the Susanowos that sold and the prices range from 2500JPY to 4500JPY.

>>6439685 summed it up nicely in one word! To go into a bit more detail, MSIA height was around 3.75 inches (I think? I'm not sure where my MSIA are to compare) while RDs average around 5.5 inches. RDs are also generally made with a much more rigid, yet still very sturdy plastic, while MSIAs were made with a softer, rubbery PVC. This allows RDs much sharper sculpts and molded details than were possible for the MSIA line. Additionally, RDs are designed with range of motion in mind (especially nowadays), so their articulation is generally excellent. The leap in detail and articulation from MSIA to RD really can't be overstated enough.

MSIA still has a couple strong points, though. First, they're nigh indestructible thank to their soft PVC construction. RDs are designed to be messed around with and are not fragile by any means, but they are intended for adults so they can have parts that could break if you're not careful (antenna and things like that). Second, there's the price. Even now, you can pick up MSIA for fairly cheap second hand, while RDs are gonna run you $40-50 or more a pop. Lastly, MSIA has a much wider variety of mobile suits. RD is catching up and has stuff MSIA never had (ie Gundam Sentinel), but it still has a lot of gaps in its mobile suit representation coverage (for example there's nothing from 0083, and very very sparse representation from 08th Team and 0080, but the ANIME line makes me optimistic that these gaps will be filled), though this is offset by the fact that RD covers a much large variety of series.

If you have a mobile suit or mecha design you particularly love, and there's an RD of it, I heartily suggest giving the line a shot! While pricey, RDs strike an awesome balance of detail and playability that's unlike anything else. As someone who built gunpla and collected older Gundam toylines for years, the first RD I bought really blew me away. Seven years later and now I've got waaaay too many RDs, haha.

If FSS ever gets licensed by some miracle, it would end up at least in something more high-end like Hi-Metal R or Metal Build or maybe even Soul of Chogokin. Can't imagine a tiny RD being able to squeeze in all the details.

Minelayer, damn I already have 5 Green Zakus.

It looks like the campaign states shopfront only but we are unsure whether HLJ will honour it too.

The White Base deck and catapults are not relevant items.
>>
>>6439993
Hope it happens in my life time.

I think it is a great time to be alive. ANIME and Hi-Metal being the definitive toys of 0079 and Macross.

with these franchises being 30-40 years old, they may stop doing these characters eventually.

But yes, ANIME line is the best One Year War toy line ever. Forget HG, MG, RG, GFF, HCM Pro, this is it for at least 10 years to come.
>>
>>6439695
Damn, I have 4 Regults already and didn't know that the tampo marking was a number, now the 2 pack set comes with two other numbers.
>>
>>6440405
I have a soft spot for the HCM Pros and I find them to still hold their own. Granted, some releases were better than others. For example, the CCA line is still the best. One thing I really like about this line is the intricate details they included for the figures, from working monoeyes to internal mechanisms, the HCM Pro feels premium in many ways others don't. Don't forget the beautiful paint apps to all those tiny details. It was a very ambitious line and I think that back then the burgeoning RD line took notice that sometimes less is more.
>>
>>6440573
I still have my HCM Pros, but only the CCA line had a full cast. I didn't like how the OYW line was missing a lot of characters while the Zeta line was okay for the AEUG side.
>>
>>6440573
same here, they went out of their way to make things happen. I mean, some of the suits can transform, the tiny Impulse gundam can split up to 3. they included effect parts. It was said to see it go.

It's not a number. Maybe a squad designation, or a rank, or a simple label for what kind of pod it is. But it ain't a number, cause if that's how they do numbers, there ain't enough real estate on the whole mech to show the kinds of numbers they were produced in.

Because there are few people interested in Inspection G Seven Sword. It's a variation from a novel, while people want the Blue Seven Sword of the anime.

Personally, I love it, but it did not sell much.

The 007S and all of its variants are from a book, it was never in the anime.

It doesn't matter. Setsuna Gundam 00 is Blue and that is considered the main Gundam. The Seven Sword is just an extra equip which in fact can be detached to have the Normal or the 00 Raiser.
The Inspection G is a less popular variant. People do not even know its origin and only those who like this color scheme are interested.
>>
>>6445176
cooool, I can see it's not just a repop with a new paint job and added decals: The camera on top of the head is different, and there are tany metallic panels in the skirt armor and legs.
>>
>>6445766

>>
>>6445548
>I said something wrong.
>You're wrong.
>It doesn't matter!!!

You're still wrong anyways. The Seven Sword setup isn't an either/or situation with the Raiser (only issue is what you mount on the GN drives, and you can just use the XN Raiser to get around that), it has new knees so you technically can't convert it to the regular 00, and the Inspection G colors aren't a real variant so much as it's just what colors a computer simulated version of the 007S/G had.

What I'm saying here is that if you're trying to sound informed, take the time to actually be informed.

Man, I wasn't interested in the original release, but I can't deny that the updated one looks fantastic. I'll still probably pass on it, but after looking at the review, it's hard to pass it up.
>>
>>6445781

The new one looks fantastic but I kind of like the shade of blue on the original. At least there's one that matches the new Ex-S releases now, as well as the Barzam. Sucks that the Neros are now the odd ones out unless you want to apply all those stickers.
>>
>>6445780
Seriously I do not know why you are acting like an asshole or why you are convinced that my intention was to undermine your authority, knowledge, or the size of your dick.

My point was simple. The Inspection G, with its different color, is not as popular as the blue 00. And if they sell it at a lower price than the Blue, for market laws, it means it did not sell much.

I did not try to be informed or to start a technical /m talk about 00 lore and setting. I was just giving my opinion on why it is sold at a lower price.

But oh, you're free to believe what you want.

This already seems to answer your question.

The MC trans-arm is nice, (like every MC metal build they are great replica of the Bandai ones), but not everyone appreciates that color. I did not buy it only because I already have three 00 and a new one (the Seven Sword G bandai) is coming. I can say that i have an MC Inspection G and an MC Seven Sword. Both were good, with just some minor flaws.

Pic related. The left is the MC Seven Sword, the right is the Bandai 00 Raiser.

Intersting that the Tamashii site is advertising Suzaku and Kallen's spinoff that starts this fall.

Guren is tempting me the more I look at it. It's one of those suits that gets more appealing the closer you look at it and appreciate its asymmetry.
Granted, Lancelot is the opposite, albeit to a less extreme degree, in that it's almost too flashy at first and then you get to really appreciate the functionality despite that.

With Qanta being release, Metal Build has almost every Setsuna Gundam except for XN Raiser and Quanta Full Saber.

We've had:

Exia
Exia Repair
Exia R2(From MB Exia+Exia Repair)
Exia R3(From MB Exia)
Exia Avalance
Exia Avalanche Dash

00 Gundam
00 Raiser
00 Seven Sword
00 Seven Sword/G

00 Quanta

So XN Raiser and Full Saber left.

I wouldn't be surprised if XN Raiser as a backpack gets released but it wouldn't be compatible with Seven Sword as 7S has unique knees.

The Masurao is pretty great, age considering. The only issue was that the kneecaps were actually broken (explains the discount I got it at), but a little super glue and they're fine now.

>>6438847
Since this is practically the same as the Susanowo, I figure you'd like to hear some thoughts on it. So the articulation is alright. If you haven't had any experience with older RD's and their articulation, then this will feel slightly limited to you. The torso is probably the most limited, with barely any side-to-side turning or significant ab crunch available. The head is limited a good bit in it's vertical motion as well, but turns fine. Otherwise it's decent. A step above MSiA, but nowhere near the articulation of an A.N.I.M.E. Robot Damashii. The figure feels a bit fiddly too, so sometimes getting that perfect pose can be difficult. Especially because of the smaller feet, he falls over easily, so using a stand to prop him up will help a lot. Overall, if you like the design, you'll look past the minor flaws and still love the figure.

Another fun note about the Masurao, the one side of the shell has the two swords labeled as "Howard" and "Daryl." I thought that was a really nice touch and I wasn't expecting to find that!

I'll post some pics of the Gouf and Dodai later on!
>>

I apologize for being a stupid faggot but googling the name brings up links in foreign languages. Is this just a generic robot toy thread? Is it more specific? I wanted to ask about SoC stuff but I'm not sure where that goes. I recognize some Bandai stuff in here.

It's specifically for the Robot Damashii line by Bandai.

This is also usually where Macross stuff, especially Hi-Metal R, ends up due to the lack of a Macross general and the lack of enough traffic to really justify one.

Isn't Macross gunpla? I'm a TF pleb branching out so I know nothing about these terms. I still don't know the difference between SoC and SRC.
>>
>>6453187
Gunpla means Gundam + Plamo
Plamo means plastic model
The Japanese love their portmanteaus.

So nothing in this thread is a plamo, and therefore not a gunpla. It's just figures and in here and most Robot Damashii stuff is Gundam with other properties getting some presence.
>>
>>6453176
Its kinda like a reissue, but not since its under a different company name. Either way its better than buying the hella expensive yamato. Still not cheap tho
>>
>>6453187
SoC is Soul of Chogokin. It's a larger scale, more "premium" brand of figures that use large amounts of diecast. Mostly super robot figures so far I think. Stuff like Mazinger, Getter, Gunbuster, etc.

SRC is Super Robot Chogokin. They're roughly RD sized (~5-6 inch) figures that use diecast in certain parts like the joints or lower body for a hefty feel. Mostly super robots like SoC, Mazinger, Getter, Brave series, etc.

Robot Damashii/Spirits is the all plastic line of action figures that mostly replaced Mobile Suits in Action (MSIA) and Offshoot. They're all-plastic, usually rigid ABS, and they're the most diverse and cheapest line.

Metal Robot is a subline of RD that's the same scale but with die cast joints and generally higher finish (paint, decals, sharper molding, etc.) and are more expensive. So far it's just the EX-S, Knight Gundam, metal frame Hi-Nu reissue, and EX-S (Alpha Taskforce colors).

Signature Ka is another subline of RD that refers to figures designed by Hajime Katoki, Bandai's most prolific and famous mecha designer for Gundam. It's all Gundam stuff and it's basically RD with a better finish like Metal Robot. IIRC The Metal Robot EX-S are also Signature Ka.

Hi-Metal R seems to be a line for smaller franchises (like Dougram, Xabungle), but so far mostly Macross. It's similar to Metal Robot in that it uses diecast parts. I think it's supposed to be a revival of an old line of figures, hence the R.

Metal Builds are larger scale diecast figures with high levels of finish (paint, decals, etc.). Sort of like Metal Robot but using a larger scale (7-8"). It's mostly 1/100 Gundams, but there was a Laevatein from FMP too.

Just got my first Damashii, a vanilla GM- my favorite mobile suit.
Are all RDs this fuckin' cool? I'm really loving all the articulation, it's really nice to fiddle with. I can pose it nearly any way I wish, and it feels great! The effect parts are also really cool and the option to switch between the wrist and grips on the shield is a feature I love.
>>
>>6458112
>Are all RD's this cool?
Not quite. The A.N.I.M.E. sub-line tends to have the best engineering in the line so far, and most of those releases are generous with effect parts.

Other releases, especially the older ones, have less articulation in some areas and less accessories, usually not including any effect parts except the required beam sabers or the like. But to be honest, that doesn't make them bad figures, just a bit dated. The articulation is still usually great, just not A.N.I.M.E. great. And certain older releases still have some nifty accessories or effect parts, like the Kshatriya and it's funnel and thruster effects, or the Wing Gundam and its battle-damaged head.

Honestly, the best thing you can do for yourself if you're considering any RD is to check out a review online first to get an idea of what it comes with and how articulated it is.
>>
>>6458112
I really recommend FA-78-1. The Full Armor Gundam IMO is the best version of the ANIME Gundam released, because you get everything the vanilla Gundam has but with the Full Armor option parts.

And I personally love the army green color scheme, though it might not be for everyone.
>>
>>6458112
So far the RDs I have gotten from the Unicorn line have been great with articulation. I also have two RDs from Zeta and they have been great to pose as well. I too recently got into RDs within a years time.

>>6458623
The ability to switch between is lost on me. I'd rather have it in full armor most of the time as that's it main attraction. Rather have a RX-78-2 at the same time than limiting myself.

Out of curiosity, do the individual missiles from the Zaku II's missile pods fit in the Zaku Cannon's missile launchers then too, of are they too loose? The RX-78-2 v2.0's shoulder alone has more articulation than the RX-78-2 ANIME's upper body.

ABS and PS are almost identical in the range of properties. You can produce hard PS or softer, slightly flexible PS, and likewise you can produce hard ABS or softer ABS. The biggest difference between the two is what solvents will work on them as cements.

And most MGs use a harder ABS for the frames anyway and Bandai's typical PS for the exterior. They list the types of plastic used for each tree so you always know what type of plastic you'll be working with so you can use the right glue (or paint for that matter)

>RGs are not as durable and play friendly.
The frames are usually made of polypropylene with some ABS. Polypropylene is a softer but more abuse proof plastic so as long as you're not trying to snap it it won't. It's plenty durable, the problem is the armor pieces like to fall off because it's MG engineering fit into a 1/144 kit. Some are still playable though, like the Red Frame.

>>6462750
>MGs nowadays don't even use ABS frames.
Since like the V2. It's a very recent change and I have yet to hear of any problems. I'll find out when I get around to building my White Dingo GM Sniper IIs. But like I said before PS can be harder or softer. HIPS isn't the only kind of polystyrene, and it's a special blend in the first place.

Except they don't. The anime's butterfly joint has like 20 degrees of motion and it covers up the freaking vents with a randomly separated strip of chest. You could get the same thing with just a sparsely spaced balljoint, like on the revive HGUC. The MG RX-78-2 2.0 can pull both arms completely forward and aim in opposite directions matrix style. It's not prettiest, I agree, but its range of motion is unmatched. The same design lets the GM Sniper II actually pull off a crazy rifle aim pose that I doubt the GM Sniper Custom ANIME will recreate. The best balance between style and articulation I've seen is the RG Red Frame, which has a bunch of neat engineering, like the hip crunch/bend that lets the hips pull out for an ab crunch
>>
>>6462808

The MG Gundam 2.0 is indeed awesome. But it's still neither as fun or as solid as the RD version. Can't pose as well as the RD either; certainly can't come close without armor bits popping loose. I hate the chest. It looks like a cracked bicycle reflector

People who like poses that take advantage of a robot's inhuman range of motion.

For being a new release, why the heck is the Full Armor 0 being so cheap? Do Nips dislike it this much?

Are future releases going to include decals or is it specifically MSV?

Because it's still widely available everywhere?

Even bootleggers don't give the Leopard the time of day.

Hold up here, there were Gundam X action figures besides the GFF X and the RD DX?

Where can I find these?

neat, but all those panels still look weird
>>
>>6463174
It's basically the O Gundam from before with maybe improved quality over all, as well as some new pieces for facilitating the Full Armor mode.

I'm just surprised so many people would resell it, as if they bought it on a whim AND THEN realized it's not so enjoyable. It's not like Gipsy Danger or the GBF Ribbons Gundam where there were 'surprises' that weren't in the product description/official shots (good ones in their cases). With the FA O Gundam you had to know what you were getting for your money.

This looks like it was done by the guy who does the weird proportioned Zeta Damashiis.

Look's like it's just exclusives for now. The prototype gundam is a general release and it doesn't have any campaign decals on it's page... yet.

It seems the backpack is connected through a belt. Please God let there be a peg connection on the back.

Seems pretty Katoki'd to me. The proportion is streamlined comparing to his previous design or even the original lineart.
>>
>>6463761

Looks nothing like the Katoki. It has an elongated torso and arms, weird angles on the thighs, etc.

Isn't that just a Banpresto prize figure with a custom base?

Metal Robot from Taipei. Surprised they aren't going with the Musou design.

So I don't know if anyone else here has issues with the beam sabers on the ANIME RX-78/GM mold, but for me they've tended to get stuck in their handles very easily.

So tonight I tested something out and discovered that snipping the peg on the beam saber blades to half their normal length makes a world of difference. Still enough of a peg there to connect securely without being scary to pull apart. Also works for the beam rifle effect part.
>>
>>6464569
I haven't had any issues EXCEPT for the double beam effect that came with the FA-78. That thing is scary to pull out if you ask me. I might try this on that piece so I won't be afraid to use it again.

I deal mostly in models so I never look into the Damashii stuff.

No body in Japan is asking what the hell is up with the prices on those things? And I not talking about the high end items either.

Have you ever touched and played with an RD? I used to think that they're overpriced HGs, too.
Thus, you can find a lot of RDs for cheap online.
