b-09 standard is probably your best bet, but only if you want something you could use for casual and competitive practice, but it's more expensive, if you just want something to screw around in they sell $10.00 Hasbro stadiums at Toys R Us and Target ect.

J2 is easy to burst, 6 is okay but not as good as 8, 7, or 4, Glaive is probably the best frame currently, Nothing is an okay Driver but not great.

Planning on getting a couple of Beyblades for when family comes around. Should I be buying Beyblades from the same set? Or can previous generation of Beyblades keep up with the new Burst ones or vice versa?

gK.Y.Fl or gK.2G.Fl would be decent, with Neptune being a very good defensive Layer still it would also pair nicely with the same sub-parts. As far as attack goes, gV.2G.J would be a semi effective combo. But yeah, try getting Atomic.

For stamina there isn't much good stock, so Blaze Ragnaruk, for defense Tornado Wyvern, though it's difficult to obtain so alternatively Acid Anubis, for attack Killer Deathscyther or Victory Valkyrie, for balance Legend Spriggan or Alter Chronos.
