Also notice that starscream's chest lifts up and has white plastic underneath. The Chestcockpit is fake kibble and the real cockpit in vehicle mode doesn't require starscream's head to be hidden away, the combiner head pops out of the chest.

Leader Class Rodimus Prime is the space Winnebago, whose car portion can turn into it's own Deluxe Size Hot Rod. This Hot Rod combines with the trailer portion to become Rodimus Prime.

he's basically got a deluxe sized robot and a shell he sits in.

This is why we didn't get thunderwing the last time

Pretender shells won't just be the titan master scale. The leader classes will all be shell-like power up modes.
We'll get thunderwing, an optimus of course (I'm betting the small bot will be Orion Pax, and the trailer armor will make him look beefier, like Rodimus, but they'll also repaint him to armada prime)

That's pretty compelling. My only problem with that is that the legs don't look like they can pull an adequate Silverbolt fold to get where they'd need to be, so he'd probably do an Onslaught instead.
The promo render also makes it look like the hands are dead solid in there, looking at it more, and the painted test shots on the show floor aren't doing much to dispel that.

As someone who got the TR herpes Hot Rod and was planning to get the LG version. I really nit sute about the new leader. The combined deluxe looks great but Rodimus form looks funky with its head position.

I'm none too keen on this guy's hands. The articulated fingers are nice but the thumb needed a swivel or a ball joint or something to really make the articulation worthwile. the angle at which the wrists lock into place is also kind of weird.

Also, its hard to get a good picture but the lightpiping on him is ridiculously good. They catch a lot of light and can get so bright he looks like he has a fucking soul or something, it's almost weird.

RTS jazz, like thrilling 30 Springer, and Universe cyclonus were just unusually good quality that allows them to stand up years later.
But looking at that jazz, and comparing him to the combiner wars deluxes, he's definitely in the same range.

It also makes me wonder, though, what the price point is going to be.

Movie deluxes MSRP at 20 bucks, and TR were at 16. I wonder if these are gonna MSRP at a lower price point, like 14 or 15, since they obviously are going to be encouraging people to buy a voyager and 4 limbs. That might explain some of the downsizing.

That, and I'm pretty sure jazz is a pretool of another figure.
