I might have figured out what looks so wrong to me about her shoulders. In the game she has nice, narrow, rounded feminine shoulders but the sleeves on the figure stick upwards too far and the shoulders might be a bit too wide.

Maybe it's got those double ball joint shoulders that some figs have and the display worker just posed her badly. Hopefully it's possible to move the shoulders lower and inward a bit because this just won't do.

Instead of shedding a new light on the entire DrakenNieR franchise, Automata has become the main focus in the public eye. It's a similar situation to Fallout 3 and 4 becoming the new standard for the series and people not knowing that Black Isle ever existed. The one saving grace is that Yoko Taro is still around to control the direction of the series, so if that means the merchandising has to suffer for it by being flooded with 2B it's something I can cope with. Automata still isn't bad, it's a great game, and while I understand why I'm just disappointed that the first time toys are being made for any of these games it's of the most commercialized character. I just hope they do well enough that more characters get greenlit.

In terms of gameplay, it was overwhelmingly average, but Nier, Weiss, Kaine, and Emil were infinitely more interesting than 2B, 9S, and A2. The three androids weren't bad characters by any means, and Automata had some of the best gameplay out of any game I've played (plus that last shooter sequence over the credits was absolutely incredible), but the story and characters of the first Nier game were greatly superior to those of Automata.

I've been on this board nearly since Play Arts began (the line started shortly before /toy/ was founded) and I've watched it change and grow over time. It got really weird and bad when it made the jump to Kai, and it never did quite dig itself out of some of those problems. Despite that, I have (and still do) owned quite a few of them.

Bring Arts looks okay, and does represent S-E finally listening to one of the biggest criticisms of PAK--the bizarre scale. But the sculpt is merely alright. The face is better than their nightmarish previous Soras, but it's not great, and the sculpt is a bit soft and doughy in general, especially in the hair. It probably would have looked a little better if Bandai hadn't just showed up to the party with a phenomenal Sora sculpt. Yeah, it's not from the same game, I know, but it blows Bring Arts out of the water purely on a quality level.

Also, this might just be a personal thing, but the semi-gloss finish on the BA looks cheap and nasty. Wish they would just use a nice flat topcoat for things like this.

Shit, I just realized why Bring Arts Sora looks so shitty to me (and why I still fear for 2B). S-E can't paint worth a damn. They pick horrible colors for blending and lay it on too heavy, leading to this really ham-fisted cheap looking shading. This Sora head doesn't look too bad sculptwise, but the gradient on the hair is hideous. The darks are too desaturated and prominent, they creep too far up the hair as well. This sort of thing requires subtlety, and that's something PAK (and now Bring Arts) has never had.
