TFcon is 2 days away.

What exclusive are you getting?

What are toys do you want to find?

Which voice actor do you want to stalk back to the bathroom?

Which /toy/ e-celeb do you want to get drunk with?
>>
Wait. What is that blue Ravage? Is that a Masterpiece?
>>
>>6417319
3rd Party Cobalt. Seems it is a throwback to the E-hobby repaint of G1 Ravage. Was revealed this morning I think on TFW2005.

Both exclusives were shown at the last TFcon in Chicago with no set place they would be released. I guess we know now.

Now I feel like I need to replicate this.

For any one who the Megatron stickers from repollabel

Is the stickers on the wings reel like the original when transformed?
>>
>>6417431
What is with Reprolabels recently? I remember they used to be pretty smart, making stickers mostly intended to rest in recessed or protected parts of the mold and using them pretty effectively. The TR stuff just looks like a mess comparable to Broadside's out of box configuration.
>>
I'm glad my friend was kind enough to give me the Thunderwing head from the BBTS box set... I would have been pretty mad if I had bought the box imagining this as a crown jewel. They decided the head/neck joint should be die-cast too which means it had to be painted. Which means 1. The added paint makes it slightly too thick to fit into TR neck ports properly. Doesn't 'click' into place like it should. and 2. It could chip... which seems pretty likely since it's going to be under constant pressure, even more so because of the slightly larger size.
You figure they would know that part would have to be bare plastic.

Then make the shins diecast. That would add more weight and wouldn't fuck with the main gimmick in plugging into other bots.
>>
So I just bought my first transformer in over a decade which is the titans return Megatron. What's considered the best starscream out that isn't a masterpiece or something crazy expensive?

Classics / Henkei / Universe Starscream can be a pretty solid companion to TR Megatron, you might even want to purchase his many companion seeker clones later down the road if that's what you're into. >>6417503 is also good, although it carries that unfortunate unpleasant cheapness of every single RiD toy.

Yeah, thats part of the problem. Such gigantic things are really hard to have fun with. They're basically statues at that point. Their sheet weight, balance, etc, prevents them from doing much.
>>
>>6417678
I'm mostly concerned with the weight. Generations titans are huge but they're generations toys and weight like 5 pounds. Something that large with an MP build quality will buckle a shelf

>>
>>6417748
He wouldn't weigh 20 pounds at that size. Assuming approximately the same weight as Omega, times eight, he would weigh as much as a kid.
>>
>>6417884
I wish someone would make KOs of the stands. I got a stand with MP Tracks and the peg promptly snapped off inside him. I got the peg out by inserting a hot paperclip in his ass and letting it cool to pull out the peg, but I can't glue it back on to the stand, so it's useless.
>>

>Did someone ever fuck up your transformers?

All the toys of my 80's childhood got shoved into the one place that is death for all toys: The attic.

Protip: Extreme fucking heat and cold is very bad for plastic. They never had a chance. I could've probably sold all that shit nowadays and have a few thousand bucks, but nope. All those 'bots, GI Joes, Thundercats, He-Man figures, all of it. Bigass playsets. Giant vehicles. TMNT stuff. The works

All utterly destroyed because assholes had to shove it into a fucking attic. We had a basement for shits sake, something might've survived damp and cold. But it wasn't surviving summer heat and winter's cold in an attic.

So far the only Bruticus I personally have is the RotF version + FP Colossus parts, and I generally do like him. Never really picked up CW pieces beyond Hot Spot out of nostalgia, but never looked beyond him since I never had Defensor. Currently the only new Bruticus I'd be looking towards would be Iron Factory's War Giant (and hope he gets to be shown off at TFCon) -- this is largely for the fact of having missed out on the primary release of CW/UW's version.

Artfire is all paint, basically, but it's really durable, and his clearances during transformation are good. Nobody has complained about scratching yet. I've transformed mine a ton, the only scratching I have is a little on the bottom of the feet from sliding him around my desk while posed, so, try not to do that I guess. It's not noticeable in either mode, though.

Besides, paint is part of why Artie looks so good. He's positively lustrous.
>>
>>6418568
He's gobbed in just as much paint as the other two, but the mold doesn't really have any paint rub issues anywhere so it's not really bad.

It helps that it's a really glossy paint. It's way more resilient than the near-matte finishes they've been doing lately.

Nah, because I own tons of toys that are well painted, but primarily bare plastic. And they look great. I don't mind paint. I do mind when paint is the entire surface, especially of friction-laden areas like joints.

Hm, that's interesting that it's somewhat a loose connection for you, for me it's a rather solid connection for most figures. I guess with the varying strength of the plastic and thickness of the pegs, it's kind of random how much the stand can put up with.
>>
>>6418630
Well, it's tight enough on Tracks and the other smaller MPs, just not tight enough to hold Artfire horizontally and off-center.

Paint used to be done REALLY well... a decade ago.

The Alternators were full of painted clear plastic. The windows didn't use a separate piece of plastic from the body, so if you see clear bits on a piece at all, the whole piece is clear plastic. And you just know how obvious it would be when paint rubs off to show the clear plastic underneath. And yet, after a decade's worth of playing, they still hold up great.

Paint is done really well now. Artfire, Ironhide, Tracks, pretty much every MP car really, along with every recent Takara Legends figure I've bought all have extensive and durable paint jobs, and they all look way better for it.

Ever since MP megatron happened, which was such a high profile release that even some of the most casual fans went after it, and its absolute clusterfuck transformation did its paint job no favors. Now suddenly paint is the devil. Even just a year ago, people didn't bitch so hard about paint.

The paint on Artfire is very similar, especially the red. I find Smokescreen also to be quite excellent. In terms of durability, the paint on TR Brainstorm is amazing. all of these figures are flawed and it's really down to personal preference like >>6419449
said. also another option is pic related, a redeco of purple.

purple:
>most points of articulation (has wrist and waist swivels)
>quite flimsy in both modes
>difficulty standing because the stiletto heels don't lock securely in place
>more poseable due to the extra joints
>nicest weapon, a clear plastic sword with scabbard.

green
>more cartoonish sculpt/deco
>stable in both modes
>lacks articulation compared to purple (no waist and wrists)
>sword blade is solid black plastic and doesn't stow well in vehicle mode

yellow
>stability of green but a less cartoonish design
>lacks articulation compared to purple (no waist and wrists)
>giant backpack in bot mode
>no sword/scabbard weapon

honestly i would just look at some galleries and videos and buy the figure that looks best to you. whichever one you choose you're getting a pretty good but flawed figure.

Takara is re-releasing many of its Legends line as Takara Mall exclusives. I think this is something that Hasbro should watch.

If they can, they can do the same thing. Re-release popular molds as online store exclusives. They have direct contact with BBTS and others. Unlike Walmart where regional stores might have different demands, there's only one BBTS. There's only one Amazon. They can sell individual figures as they need them, if the online retailers order a sufficient quantity.

A perennial seller like mp10 is constantly being remade every few years, why not Metroplex? Or Devastator? Or Cosmos? They have almost every G1 mold from the 2000 reissue lines in the US and Japan. They can sell those online. That's just low hanging fruit.

Waves of temporary toy releases is a Walmart thing. Individual Transformers used to be sold for an entire year or two before the molds were retired. With the modern online world, they can try something similar on a smaller scale.

It might help their bottom line enough that they can finally afford to move from those Vietnamese factories that keep messing up the final products.

On one hand you are correct, bayformers designs aren't friendly to physical representations, look at voyager galvatron, no chance, on the other someone would appreciate an effort.

Imagine a masterpiece version of this prime, it wouldn't do much better than this that's for sure what with the many revisions its had.

>fuck huge "first edition" to match past leaders
>scaled down hasbro version which integrated more of the truck kibble
>numerous redeco's by hasbro
>takara movie advanced version which gave a better paint job initially
>then a new retooled version with more movie accurate parts
>black knight version because black repaints are always there
>caliber prime

I'm in the process of painting up my voyager prime but I actually like the attempt that much I'm chasing this up, gotta pay them some respect.

If they make a perfect mp one day though I'll be first one there
>>
>>6419661
I'm not shitting on it at all. It's a great attempt with what they can actually do with a transforming piece. I was really impressed with it. I'ts just obvious that the physics defying bayformers have a perfect excuse to be action figures given how they are in universe bending metal/nanomachines and whatnot.

Even if you gave Takara unlimited budget they still could not make a transforming knight prime that looks as good as an action figure given how impossible and busy they are.

As MP/Turd party figures go through different continuities and designs it's gonna be apparent that some things just don't translate well to 3D.

A lot of people are coming to the realization that trying to capture the perfect g1 imagery has mixed results. A perfect recreation of poor source material will result in a poor product. I, for example, think both of these not Omega Supremes do a pretty good job of capturing the likeness of the character, but plenty of people are like "whoah as it turns out a giant grey and yellow rectangle man looks like shit".

So extrapolate that to the more cuhrazzy and gaudy universe/cybertron/armada designs and you end up with very anime or chunky ass figures looking gaudy as hell even if they're accurate.
>>
>>6419933

He's always sucked. I used to watch him from time to time because he would sometimes get toys earlier than in the states. I stopped watching his old channel when he bitched on camera about his maid for throwing away his packaging before he reviewed it. He's so boring. "Dis is da figure rebiew of the transpormers"

I just tried watching a video of his again and it's pretty much the same as when I watched him before. Nothing's improved.
>>
>>6420135
Yeah, I am. It just isn't really designed well to line up. Nothing to argue about, the rest of the toy is way better than I'd expect of a current Deluxe. First Transformer I've bought since Prime Abominus. Got the Titans Return Voyager Optimus too, and he's just as fun. Seems I missed a lot with this line.
>>
>>6419399

I watch his stuff sometimes. Generally, I watch whoever gets a figure first, and then other reviewers if I feel the figure wasn't reviewed well enough or they didn't show enough articulation or what have you.

Chefatron sounds incredibly bored and disinterested. Like, maybe that is just how he sounds in real life? I dunno. But he totally sounds like he's doing his taxes or some shit, rather than trying to review a toy.
>>
>>6420140

Yeah, you should snap some of the other Deluxes up. They're generally really good in TR, though some are hampered by line-wide QC issues (Weirdwolf's hinges breaking, Skullcruncher's loose hips that can be fixed with futureshine, etc).
