Growing up in the 80s and 90s i always assumed lego was a toy for poor kids. I despised lego because it was a toy i had to put together and it didnt even look good. How lame is that? I think even a minifig sized katana doesn't DESCRIBE a katana, it just represents it. It's a symbol. Just look at all how lego fanart completely interprets the small amount of info present on a minifig.

Maybe newer minifigs break this connection by adding more detail, who knows.

I have sort of related thing here.
I've lost all my inspiration to finish any current moc, and haven't touched lego for quite some time, but dismantling black knight's mech and making another version of modded king's mech suddenly seemed like a good idea. Did what I can with parts I have for now, but might pick somethig tommorow to continue.
While swapping some parts between them finally made the pauldrons not just good, but PERFECT. I mean, shape stayed the same, but the way they can follow sholders without fucking falling off is just doing it for me. I'm so happy with them, I feel like i'ts the ultimate thing I can build from lego ever.

I have heard from a LEGO rep, that this year as a company they will have a release of sets in December, that are being classified as a December release and not just January sets that happen to get to market early. Apparently this is a new strategy for LEGO and this is their first year of bringing new products to the market as a scheduled December release.
Also,in december we get 4 TLJ sets(normal) and one Sandspeeder(seen in the trailer) UCS.

Those are the old Revenge of the Sith clone helmets from 2005. The one on the right is a basic trooper, and the one on the left is one of the senate guards you see with Palpatine towards the end of the movie. Like the old Boba Fett helmet, it needs to have a black head underneath for it to look right.

There's actually a reason for that. (Not a GOOD reason, but still...) If an item is deleted, so the store won't get any more, and if it doesn't have a home on shelves, then it typically goes to the clearance aisle. Of course, at my store, they've clearanced out a bunch of the Lego aisle, even though we're not getting the next wave for a while, so there are big holes where the Batmobile and some of the Ninjago stuff was.

I'm probably an AFOL because when I was three my parents realized I was pocketing Legos from the babysitter to take home and play with them there and didn't realize there was anything wrong with that action. I was thinking about this last night; maybe it's just coincidence, or maybe that's when my mom got a better job so they had disposable income to spend on toys for me, but either way I started getting my own new sets from the store after that.

Somehow 95+% of my collection made it through all the visits from my nieces, nephews, and assorted other children intact for me to recover at the age of 26.
