Yeah, I tend to go for toy colors myself. I watched the show as a kid, but back in the 80's you didn't have all of this push-of-a-button instant gratification where you can just stream/find anything you want and watch whole seasons at your leisure. You got 1 episode a week, and if you missed it, tough shit. So the majority of your downtime was spent with the toys, at least in my case, where I have a LOT more nostalgia for those baked in due to that.

Which is really weird given everyone seems to have such a hardon to get show colors. You'd figure they'd be more familiar with the toy colors.

I think Takara's has the nicer shade of blue, and the painted details on the chest and shoulders look a lot nicer than the tampos, to me. That's for damn sure. I used to love the guy but I've been rolling my eyes at a lot of his shit lately, and with Milne gone, the book isn't even nice to look at anymore. At worst, though, there are at least a few funny bits in each book to make it not feel like a total loss.

Optimus Prime is definitely the superior book right now, although I'm willing to keep giving Roberts a chance, simply because I loved the fuck out of his first 40-something issues enough.

I was on the younger end of things, caught the show on VHS from the local videostore, so that was my first exposure to the franchise. Toys at the time were in the Power Master and pretender phase, so basically no one in the show was available to buy anymore outside of Optimus and the Classic Pretenders.

Plus, you have to keep in mind that Transformers was a show that ran in syndication five times a week after it ended, and then again five times a week during G2. A lot of us were way more familiar with it than we were with the first few years of toys.

I'm hoping to see Takara fixing Hot Rod's spoiler issue with the runners because splurging on paint to fix the colors of a piece that is a single color was fucking stupid. Not that this is new, I have a Gen Wreck-Gar in my desk right now and there are so many parts that should've been casted in that junkion peach color rather than being painted it's ridiculous.

How long will TFs last?

Look at the past 10 years. There had been no significant improvements in a figure's design and articulation. The figures feel "updated" because we're comparing them to 30 year old bricks.

Not to mention the decline in quality and increase in price. We did fix GPS, so I guess that's something.

We will soon be at a point where the things we have in our collection are much better than the new shit they try to sell us. Because I don't collect toys for characters, I already feel little need to buy another "robot that turns into a car" with no unique gimmicks.

Very fucking valid. Perceptor has less paint than the Hasbro version because Muh Cartoon Accuracy. Hasbro's Slugslinger may be missing some paint apps but Takara's blue makes the figure look like a generic. Something about Takara's Octane deco just doesn't flow, like the color placement is disjointed, which is probably the lack of detail apps. Grey hips would've made a big difference. Bumblebee looks alright but I'm still satisfied with the Classics deluxe.

The thing about Takara is that they release the molds AFTER the Hasbro releases, so every once in a while, they will fix certain problems that plague the Hasbro version, like CW/UW Motormaster.

But yeah, when it comes to transformers, do what you want. People will give you shit regardless of what you do so just do you. I personally like UW Bruticus despite his flaws, even if people say CW Bruticus is better. At the end of the day they both use the same shitty Hot Spot mold.

Other than that, as a moviefan I think Bee movie will bomb, if not perform poorly. TLK has done too much damage, worse than AoE given that the recent movie had a HUGE uptick in marketing only to crumble not only in domestic but also in FUCKING CHINA. Overall Bee movie has a shot of being good, decent even, but it would be likely that it won't continue on to the Unicron sequel especially since Marky Mark already called quits days before the premiere of TLK.

All of the G1 beasts Combiners will be in this line.

Takara fans will be happy to see the Powermasters. Expect anime accuracy from the Takara releases and toy accuracy from Hasbro as we got in TR. Takara was not happy with TR Breakaway, so we're getting a second chance at a proper Getaway.

Some surprises are in store as well. 'Pretend' to be shocked by a couple of old faces. ;)

So, since it's filming entirely in california, and transformers movies tend to film in the actual places they take place in (texas, chicago, etc) it seems pretty reasonable to expect a highly diverse ethnic cast.
Even in the 80s, california was pretty diverse.
What I'm hoping for though is barricade showing up, setting up a long term feud between the two. It's also interesting that we could see all sorts of decepticons (and autobots) that have died, leading to new (retro) toys.

I don't have WW but it's obvious that they made the rubberized part too thick. It increases the torque required to hinge the piece. HasTak should have made it one plastic piece and painted the red. If you're buying him, I'd suggest using plastic/rubber safe lube and grabbing the piece as close to the hinge as possible.
