I'd rather some things got a downsize. Most of the MP line could use cutting down to Voyager at most for the bigger 'bots like Optimus, and Deluxe for the rest.

Nonsense, Super Ginrai would need to be 5 feet tall so the kid can combine with the trailer.

Broadside, bonus points if they include the add on axe to stabilize the jet fanmode. A bigger Roadbuster would be nice too.

So, I had a tattoo idea at work

Instead of getting two separate tattoos of The Punisher skull and the Autobot insignia, how about combining the two?

An Autobot insignia stylized as the Punisher skull.

I'm not a fan of tattoo text, but my friend said something along the lines of "Punishment is the right of all guilty beings."

Just make sure you get the Hasbro retail version. The SDCC version breaks if you look at it because the fucking 'tards made load bearing joints out of clear plastic, and the Takara version glued the fucking legs shut so you can't improve on the shitty city form by fanmoding it to something better.

Always found the Master Sword to be really retarded, so guess I'm fine with that.

>>6401057
Oh my, is he actually considered the worst? Not sure if this might be because I've been trying to build the G1 version out of spares in Ebay but Fortress has always my favorite out of the city bots and honestly, from the pics and reviews alone, it does look more appealing to me than Thrilling 30 Metroplex.
>>
>>6401083
>Oh my, is he actually considered the worst?

Theres nothing functionally wrong with him. He just kind of has boring alt modes really. But thats also pretty accurate to the original figure as well. Still, they could've done better with the city mode, but you can fanmode it into better stuff very easily.
>>
>>6401072
I'm not excusing takara on that pointless decision, but its quite easy to break that glue seal.
>>
>>6401083
>>6401086
He's also kind of lacking in terms of accessories. Metro lacked things but he still had plenty to work with, Devastator got an upgrade with the United release, but Fortress lacked both his handled weapons, his sword, and Cog.

I at least wanted the Hasbro release to have the small, normal handheld gun, but it was box art only. It didn't help that Takara just added the sword and nothing else.
>>
>>6401083
>is he actually considered the worst?

Yeah, his botmode is his best mode, but he lost his knuckle and arm guns, his rifle, twin barrel gun, waist cannons and his sword (retail), shipmode has a short tower without guns and short ramps, city, well thats his worst mode, shouldn't need to explain, also no Cog dronebots.
>>
>>6401080

Cracked a week or so ago out of the blue while transforming him. Now it's held on by the red rubbery bits. It didn't break all the way though, perhaps I could glue it without fucking up the rest of it, but I'm loathe to try.

I'm just getting back into transformers after not having any interest since, well, the 1980s. I grew up watching the original show and playing with the figures but moved on to other toys and shows. Just tonight I purchased my first tfs in like 30 years, some smaller titans return figures as they're on sale everywhere this week.
What are some awesome figures (official or 3rd party) that you guys would recommend to a new collector? I'm looking at Takara MP 36, Wei Jiang MPP10, Maketoys Striker Noir, and Cloud 9 Quakeblast as well as many of the KO masterpiece figures.

Why is it that movie voyager hound, with thin tiny hands that fold in, can have wrist swivel, yet his wave mate voyager megatron, with his bigger meatier hands, cannot?

I've always excused the lack of wrist swivel BECAUSE of plastic tolerances but this is most bizarre, ok sure the leader can do this but why can the fat man with the tiny hands do something others can't?

I think Steelbane/Skullitron highlights the difference between bad QC and bad engineering. With bad QC, the design is good, but the final fit isn't up to snuff. Bad engineering is where the mold itself hinders the way the toy should work. The transformation is actually really imaginative, even if the end result isn't that impressive, and everything tabs into place and has a swivel to adjust where parts sit. It's a miracle they even added wrist swivels considering the parts count.

You can also store the sword on his hip Windblade style using the altmode tab. It sticks straight out, so you have to finesse the wings a bit to make it look nice.

Altmode is definitely where the quality dips. Really like it since he looks like the giant claw. It gets a lot of love just from how he forms. You split him in half and rotate his legs to get a straight Dragon mode.

>>6401305
>>6401306
Anything to hide the gaps in the neck. On a figure with robot hands on the calves, it somehow has bigger problems. I wonder if at some point, the feet would have been able to fip around and cover the leg backs. That would have been really complicated to engineer, so we'll just have to wait for Blackapple to try it.

Unfortunately, you really can't get too many good poses of him from beneath. Non swooping down to scoop up unsuspecting cattle with those static hindlegs. Plus the leg gaps again. He needs to be as flat as possible to be presentable from the sides, so I keep him quadrupedal.
>>6401314
That's fair. I managed to get Skullitron on a special with the Optimus two pack, so it stung a little less. I honestly would recommend Steelbane more because, as great as a Zombie knight is, that clean helmet design just can't be beat if it's cheaper.

For as flawed as the dragon mode is, I can't help but enjoy it. It's great to finally have a bad movie beast to face off against the Dinobots. One against 7 plus three dragons is a little lopsided, but underrepresentation is the least of the movie's problems. If you can't find something to like in altmode, you might still enjoy the robot, so I'll give Skully a recommendation on a sale.

Same boat as >>6401349 like I said, the rest of the balljoints were functional, but you could still shake them out of position easily. Oddly enough, he has soft detented ankles and ratcheted elbows, both of which are perfectly tight.

All the reports say that only its balljoints that are weak, so it's nothing too catastrophic. I do understand the hesitation since these guys shouldn't need fixes when they're even more expensive. I'll just say that his QC is not as disastrous as Berserker's incredible pop-off panels, but his wings come close.

>>6401607
Jazz is theoretically possible, if they can get mp bumblebee from volkswagon and work around the hoodsplit on sunstreak jazz WILL happen, when, could be a long time coming...

Cliffjumper is a whole other battle, if he comes he'll need to be licensed, and unless there is some literal mass shifting akin to a megatron in your pocket he won't scale with bee nor will his alt mode be toon accurate UNLESS they tell Porche to fuck off, make an approximation of his alt mode that, while will please g1 fans car purist will be scarified.

Cling to hope anon, we'll get them all eventually
>>
>>6401602
How does it? The fact that I liked the other ones and could see clear as day as to how poor it was in comparision to them shows how bad it was.
>>
>>6401623
Well, some third parties have been able to create a mildly realistic Porsche 924 (not totally accurate but still with the same general shape and basically only lacking a few paint apps) that turns into a proportionate Cliffjumper and still remains on scale with other car robots, pic very much related. The X-Transbots version appears to be even better, although they only have CG renders of it as of now. So yes, I think it's entirely possible for them to design a "non-chibi" version of Cliffjumper that pleases Porsche.

Also, last year was the 40th anniversary of the 924 and Porsche sold a bunch of merch based on it, Takara totally wasted an opportunity there.
>>
>>6401630
Ah yes, I remember that thing, wonder if takara will go that way or ...try to try to do both.

Both as in please porche while making an alt mode that scales with bee's alt mode, normally I wouldn't think this but the whole focus on cartoon accuracy and the last few bots we had made me think that, least sunstreaker can switch from real altmode to cartoon/toy alt mode
>>
>>6401619
I'm thinking of just getting the Hasbro retail versions of TLK Voyager Optimus Prime and Voyager Megatron and just custom painting them myself.

I would buy Takara if they actually commit to the molds and run it into the ground paint wise, but I want to actually finally be happy with two great molds.
>>
>>6401607
This is what people said about Bumblebee. Money solves all problems.

There's a local seller with LOTS of G1 figures for sale. Normally, he can take used figure and give a small store credit. But the guy had almost ALL the G1 Action Masters, most complete. Even the European Elites and special decos!

For some reasons, he didn't felt he'd ever sell them and he offered me a 1:1 exchange rate for them. So I brought him around 1500$ in value of random common figures (movies, generations, beast wars) and I got ALL of his Action Masters. In fact, I think I even made 500$ in profit just because of how cheap the Action Masters Elites went.

Even though I find the Action Masters fun and hilarious, between "retarded" and "awesome" how do you guys rate this trade?
>>
>>6401774

Oh no, they might have to change that square to an oval without the license! Toy is RUINED!

As usual, Hasbro fans prove they are basically too dumb for their own good. Bumblebee is a worse toy for the license because it had to have so much extra mass to the car, tacking on a pointless and inaccurate backpack and arm kibble to please a few "muh license" assholes. They were worse than Sideswipe's damn tail end hanging carelessly off his ankles.

>>
>>6401845
Fuck off, geewunner. If you even admit all you people care about is the fucking robot mode, they should just make a series of 100% accurate, non-transforming action figures for you sunbow faggots, and let the MP line go back to being actual, good toys for the rest of us.

There are plenty of people that like Transformers but also like real cars and good engineering/transformations, and we're not nearly as butthurt over the minor inaccuracies caused by licensing, because we're actually impressed at the good engineering and balance of compromise that led to a toy that looks great in both modes. I mean, unless you're a sunbow-loving faggot that thinks lazy korean animation actually looks good, then there's no help for you.
>>
>>6401867
Geewuner of sorts here, one of the reasons for me to like the original toys is also precisely because they have realistic-looking vehicles, some of them even more than modern figures. There's no reason for so many other Geewuners to dislike MPs that turn into credible vehicles, it's just childish.

Yeah, the average joe that go into the store will just see some bright neon kids toys. As for the "hardcore fan" he's just laugh at them. But they are still loved enough to fetch some decent prices on the Bay.

Like Pic related. The Action Masters Elites here are 100% complete, very clean and unbroken. He sold them for 80$CAN each. I gave him some random trash bought on sale for these four. Still, that "trash" will be an easier sell at his store. By the way, the Elites were the only Action Masters that actually transformed... by partforming and doing yoga. They are horrible and fun at the same time.

Anyway, I only saw Double Punch (Scorpio guy) and Omega Spreem (Yellow "tank") on Ebay 100% complete... at over 200$CAN each! As for the other two, Windmill (helicopter) and Turbo Master (plane), they were impossible to find but missing lots of parts, both were stupidly expensive. I really scored big time!
... And I don't plan to ever sell them.

Now all I need is to find the very few bits and characters that I miss and I'll have a 100% complete collection!

What's cool about the Action Masters is that they were G1's death rattle.

Yo, it's the anon from >>6401048 who was asking about feedback on getting TR Fortress Maximus. The problem is, I'm also currently trying to expand towards classic Beast Wars figures and recently stumbled upon a couple of excellent lots in my country for 100€ (six MiB 10th anniversary figures with Transmutate included in one for 70€ and a couple of loose Takara figures in the other for 30€), should I invest in those instead since they'll probably not be around for long and could pretty much fill up an entire new section of my collection?

I still want to get Maximus at a later point but seeing how heavily Metroplex rose in price throughout these last two years makes me fear that simply waiting a few months to get one will force me to pay double the price for it. Is this a tangible fear or am I just paranoid? Should I just stop being a pussy and get those Beast Wars while holding out on Maximus or should I just rush to get him instead?

Also, fuck scalpers.

I would love a spin-off toyline that just takes random, interesting vehicles throughout history and makes them into nobody transformers just for shits. Speaking as someone who has a genuine distaste for how obnoxious modern cinema is, I still find the first movie to be far more tame and cohesive than the sequels. Sure, it's still a dumb blockbuster made for the masses that obviously doesn't hold up as some sort of erudite piece that will be studied by academics alongside Kubrick and Tarkovsky films, but at the very least I can watch it and feel like my crave for a giant goofy morning cartoon made into life action was satisfied.

>>6402507
>It was always bogged down with crude sex jokes and human focus.
The human focus was necessary in the first film. You have to introduce your alien robots somehow, and doing so through a simpleton relatable teenager is almost screenwriting 101 for how basic and effective it is. As for the sex jokes, the only mildly crude one I can remember was that incredibly awkward masturbation discourse from Sam's mother, but even that wasn't anywhere close to humping dogs or two characters debating their sex life for a full minute or a cybertronian artifact inside Marky Mark's pants or any of the other cringe-worthy shit in the sequels. All the humor was incredibly tame and sometimes even surprisingly effective in comparison to the originals, there's nothing genuinely horrifying about it.
>>
>>6402500
If only these movies featured less of the humans, poor comedy, and everything else that turns people off from these movies and maybe focused more on the war between the bots then people might've still cared

>>6402527
While I'm not going to defend Murderprime's characterization, I actually like scenes like that because it means they put in some attention to detail to how enormous and powerful the cybertronians are, and it added a bit of subtle realism. Good guy or not a 10 ton giant robot in your backyard is gonna be breaking shit, if Prime walked on sod without leaving footprints or set his hand on a wood trellis without shattering it it would just look ridiculous and fake.

Still kind of ridiculous having the good guys trash a backyard, though, don't get me wrong.

Is this bait? Not just were the crude jokes in Beast Wars at the very least contextualized to be genuinely subtle and humorous euphemisms that actually contributed to developing the personality of the characters (e.g., Rattrap's "find any new positions?" dialogue with Silverbolt when he shamefully returns from "scouting the enemy") but they weren't intrusively spread throughout the entirety of every goddamn episode. You didn't get Optimus Primal stopping in the middle of an action sequence to comment about how he's behind Tarantula's scrotum or Megatron arguing with Blackarachnia about their sex life, they were just quick subtle giggles with at the very least some creative employed in their execution. Even if the humor in Beast Wars was actually as obnoxious as the Bay films, you would still at the very least have an otherwise cohesively written script with interesting characters and memorable set pieces.

Also FYI, if you were interested in the Weijiang one, unless you ordered it SUPER early, like, before we even started talking about it in this thread, then you're probably getting the 2nd batch with a different paintjob, which I'm not a fan of. In the 2nd patch they sprayed paint over the clear red plastic parts, like the sword, to create a fading effect. If you have Black Apple Evasion Prime, you've seen it on the axe. I'm not a fan of this personally at all so I'm basically just gonna get the Voyager from Walmart now. At least I know I can exchange my copy if there's something wrong with it.

>>
>>6402610
No. The only potential paint scraping issues are:
>the undersides of the feet, which are painted and make up a part of the vehicle mode's back. There are raised bumps to minimize contact with the ground though.
>two small panels on either side of his hips that the wheels will brush up against if you turn his waist
>the nozzle hand will scrape against the inside of his bicep if you try to flip it out while the arm is perfectly straight
>a very tiny area on the roof of the vehicle mode cab where the head section rests on and rubs up against in robot mode

Other than those minor things the guy has like no paint issues or clearance issues whatsoever. You can transform him and articulate him without letting a single painted surface touch another one. Same goes for Artfire as well. Grapple has some paint rub issues though, unfortunately, Mostly having to do with his crane and how it transforms.

We do enjoy having a name and face to take out our impotent rage on, don't we?

If it wasn't Warden in charge you'd only be directing it at whoever was. Just like Aaron Archer during TFA and Jen Donahoe back in the days of USENET

I remember expecting the inevitable fan backlash the moment I first heard it was greenlighted.

If you let a movie make you want to kill yourself, you need some serious help

No, it is an opinion. It IS true, by his personal standards. Your personal standards are not universal

This. But there are plenty of nostalgia fags who now think Sam and his parents were good characters, simply because they cannot take off their rose-tinted lenses. That shit was awful, but for some reason once something is 10 years old, people start to think it was great.

Also, people who were 8 when the first movie came out are now old enough to post here, so that's something to worry about.

Perhaps it's that the last "pls lemme statutory rape your daughter markymark sir" plotline was so unbearable and dull people wish Spike was back.

Surprised no one's posted Skyhammer yet. Easily the best helicopter we've ever gotten imo.

the offroad-chan mold doesn't make for a very solid arm. arms unceremoniously attach to the side and legs come apart if moved too much. i'd recomend trailbreaker instead since he's got hulk hands comparability but prob not what you're looking for. solid mold otherwise. breakdown mold is troubled, but fun if you can get over the quirks like fiddly hips and slightly awkward transformation.also, keep an eye out for g2 loose completes that pop up on ebay for like 20-ish. glad i found my g2 vortex when i did cus theres no way i'd wanna pay 50 bucks for the AB mold. (great mold btw just ignore the rotor kibble)

Pledged the hell out of mine this AM, much better. Can you put Pledge in the slide-y bit in his torso, though?
>>
>>6402160
just to be clear, wingspan and cloudraker are both going to be in the same box, just them? If i want fastlane and pounce, too, i have to either buy the big box sets or see if someone parts them out?

>>6402472
which currency?

I put clear nail polish on mine, did the job, so pledge should work good.

I think it's good that so far God Ginrai has been so hard to find at retail price. It's so much bigger than Overlord that it's now an easy pass for me.

Maketoys Thunder Manus should be closer to the right scale. Without the Godbomber armor, the Nucleon black version is close to leader scale, but not quite. Even if they end up eye to eye, that's better than having God Ginrai tower over Overlord.

At least until Wei Jiang makes its inevitable Oversized Overlord.

This board really slowed down without the pointless rumor mongering. LOL.

Let's stir shit up then, shall be.

My father works for Hasbro's father. He said the Turbomaster and Predators will be in Power of the Primes! Even Hyperdrive!

Let's see if it gets posted on Seibertron or TFW....

Would have preferred Overlord to have powermasters instead of being a headmaster. Hopefully a 3rd party will come out wiht some decent add-ons for this guy

Found Octane/Octone at Target today, can't get his cab halves to stay together in truck mode though, never got Optimus so I don't know if this was a problem for it too.

Pretty much with every mold of him, dont know if there is a fix though.
>>
>>6406170
There is no known fix as of yet. Say what you want about Titans Return, you can't argue it's had criminally bad quality control.
