Diaclone
Acid Rain
ThreeZero Titanfall and Full Metal Ghost
Takara, Yamato, and ThreeZero VOTOMS
Armarauders

I really like mech toys with pilots, but there's not enough of them out there and a lot of them are fuckhuge and hundreds of dollars. I'm not really opposed to those ones but I can rarely ever pick them up. I'm really really excited for the new 1/28 scale Acid Rain line since it's more affordable by going for the tiny scale, but the pilots are still well articulated and they've added the modular functionality to the mechs. I already love Acid Rain but the new line sounds even better, sounds like pretty much exactly what I want out of a mech toyline.

But I was also wondering if there's any other good piloted mech toys that I might not be aware of that y'all know about?

So let's discuss piloted mech toys! Old ones, new ones, whatever. There's a lot of new Acid Rain and Diaclone releases coming out soon, and I'm personally excited to pick up most of them, so if nothing else there's those to talk about.

Almost all master grade gundam kits, and all perfect grades have working cockpits, iirc the zoids highend master models have them too, those are model kits though, so maybe not quite up your alley.
>>
>>6396425
Oh I should mention that the average price of a master grade is about $40 or so, hmm zoids are more expensive with an average price of $50-60
>>
>>6396425

I mean they're still up my alley cause I do build gunpla pretty often and I have a few Zoids kits but specifically I made this thread thinking more about mechs with poseable action figure pilots.

I tried researching these a bit last night, it seems like there's some confusion about whether the "official" configurations actually transform or just reassemble. Can anyone clear that up?

The raptor looks a little less cohesive than the lion, but I still like the idea of a chunky war bike arching its back and popping up on two digitigrade legs.

Yeah I'm also curious to find out whether they like partsform or what. I'll definitely be more into it if it's a regular transformation. I'm probably picking up the quadruped one so I'll like post about it in the plamo thread when the time comes

I didn't know about these, thanks, I checked the older versions and I think I like those more, these have like holes to see through and that triggers my autism.
>>
>>6399222

I think the Acid Rain b2five figures are like 2.5" which doesn't sound that much bigger but scale-wise I feel like they'll look kind of giant next to Mega Bloks/Construx. The Armarauders pilot figure is like exactly the same size as Mega Bloks/Construx, just the proportions are stylized a little different.

I wonder if they're ever going to make any more Armarauders? I feel like they aren't. The Bellerophon is a great figure, but their pitch of a like modular combining mech toyline is kind of a hard sell when an individual release is that expensive.
>>
>>6399223

>>
>>6399287
I love these new Diaclone, but they're too expensive for me. I got 4 mega cyclops for the price of 1 powered suit.
>>
Yeah Diaclone prices for the little powered suits are honestly ridiculous but I thought they were cool enough that I still bought one of the two-packs. It's weird cause the prices for the big combining bots aren't exactly cheap but don't seem unreasonable. But then the little powered suits and the little vehicle addon things are a price that just does not make sense for them at all lol. I wish they were more reasonably priced and were moreso the focus of the line cause they're the part I like, but they'd have to make some really cool stuff for me to really want to buy more, especially when you have Acid Rain b2five right around the corner for what IMO are really good prices. Still a cool toyline but it really seems like it lends itself to having a million little sets that interact with one another and that's a hard sell when they're kind of blatantly overpriced.

I mean, they feel sturdy made, like they're never gonna break, and the size just makes it even better, but the price is weird, because my instinct tells me they're overpriced, but once I got them I no longer felt any buyer's remorse and I was damn happy with them, to the point of ordering a bunch more.

Are they done with 1:18?

>>
>>6403480

But they don't seem to have weathering.
>>
>>6402573
they have both ogre and atlas in IMC and Militia variants I believe. Dunno about stryder, never liked the design

>>6402277
pilots are nice, not amazing for posing because they're meant to be in the cockpit mostly. attention to detail is amazing though, but the durability and design of putting armor on these guys was not well thought out as they are covered in cloth first and then given the plastic/rubber pieces with the flimsiest way to attach them. I ended up gluing a majority of the armor to the body since it would fall off repeatedly.

3zero released a 1/6 version of the pilot but they do not sell the 1/12 pilots separately from the titans

>>6403626
Yeah no weathering. Some of the plastic has swirls like megabloks plastic to simulate dirt or camaflouge. But they are modular and likely more toy-like and playable than the model esque quality of the main line.

Lemme just say they're expensive. the white one (atlas) I got from a 3rd party on amazon for $560 and the green one (ogre) was a pre order special they did last year for $450. they have amazing articulation but the atlas is very fragile. they did a better job with the ogre as it is sturdier and more durable, no broken pieces so far. pilots are amazing but not really for posing as their materials kind of inhibit them from a wide range of motion. here's their product gallery: https://www.threezerohk.com/product-gallery/

they do amazing work but the price reflects that amount of detail
>>
>>6412171

>>6400311

>>
>>6412545

Fellow threezero Titanfall mech owner here, I got all three save for the Militia ogre. I always wanted to ask how did your atlas' leg break? I've got mine and while he does have some fragile bits (the flaps have a tendency of snapping off at their glue spots, but you can put them back relatively easy) but what's up with the legs? Is it the hip joint? What do I need to be careful about?

Because I haven't posed the legs much other than playing with the knee joints/ankle joints, or adjusting them for a specific pose. The joints in the upper torso get a lot more play from me though.
>>
>>6399224
which one is that?

It happened either before I received it and I never noticed until after having it for a year. The right leg seemed too limp and would always kind of lean outwards and his stance would be super wide and his legs would never be symmetrical.

I investigated and found out the ring that attaches to the waist was cracked and the rubber ring that acts as a spacer between hip and leg joint was barely doing its job.

The leg basically was hanging by a thread and I decided to separate it and try to glue/re-assemble the joint.

It didn't work, it was a mess and I tried to recreate a make shift joint. It sort of worked but it was too weak so I ended up gluing the leg in place. The only thing it inhibits it the leg's ability to pivot on the Y axis a little bit. It's just kind of a hidden eyesore because I know about it but from the outside you can't see shit. I contacted 3zero to see if they could just send a replacement lower half, was even willing to pay but they said they don't do that.

Also the back fenders that are on the back of the to pmost part of the legs constantly snap off because I try to hold the legs there while maneuvering them and they snap with the tiniest amount of pressure. I also had the front crotch flap break off and had to re-glue with some small bits break off. The legs themselves are strong but the small thin pieces and joints are atrociously weak and poorly designed.

They updated shit with the ogre, shit is literally built like a tank. When posing yours I would be extremely careful not to grab the legs where the fenders are, and make sure your joints aren't locked up when trying to force anything. Try the hot water/blowdryer technique to get them broken in.
>>
>>6414118
Also meant to say it could've happened when I tried to pose it and I may have forced it. Hard to tell because many joints on it make very loud cracks and snaps when you move them so it's hard to tell if you're breaking it or not.
>>
>>6414125

Thanks for the reply man. Yeah I do agree, it's hard to tell just what joint you're engaging when it comes to the hips so I'm very careful there. All the flaps are trouble though but at least they can be fixed.

Glad to hear the Ogre doesn't have that issue though, I got the exclusive edition and I haven't really pulled it out for display yet. The Stryder is also great but for anything other than a standing museum pose it definitely needs a stand.

The only one with the 'balance issues' is Stryder, because have you seen the design? It's top heavy and the fragile speedster of the group. It's got very spindly legs. The other two stand like bricks, and unless you force the joints like the other anon did you won't have a problem with them ever.

Also the Stryder only needs to be finagled with a bith if you have him hold the huge railgun. If you have him hold any other weapon he's fine.

I got the Titanfall 1 IMC Atlas and it pisses me off to this day. It has joints sculpted and it's perfectly thick enough to incorporate just a swivel shoulder, but it doesn't even have that. These toys need to be jointed badly; especially BT and Jack so Jack can stand in BT's hand. And the cockpit is just a cavity, which with the white color only makes it stick out that much more. >>6422557 If you're interested in one at all, go for one of the Titanfall 2 ones as the color won't make the cockpit stand out as much and the shape on Legion makes it almost a nonissue. Just know that in person they only really look good with the pilot standing to the side or with only the upper hatch open, but ymmv since I can't ignore the pilots are standing instead of sitting.
