So I have a titans returns broadside, I bought it as soon as the legends version came up, as much as I hate stickers the overall color scheme is...sorta better, to my (shit) taste, thinking of painting up the run way and removing the stickers, I already have the supplies.

But question, the translucent sections, are they at any risk of breakage from just general transformation stand and pose usage?

I ask because I did the wing swap trick, had a moment of weakness and attempted to return him, snapped one of the wings off, I've repaired it but will the other clear parts be at risk, if so I might as well bin him and grab the legends version despite the price difference.

And yes, mine had loose thighs, pried him open, dumped some polish, much better now, apart from stickers

TR is good, don't get me wrong, but after TLK I don't think I can go back to the same plain old crap again, at least for awhile.

>>

I have Steelbane and the engineering is screwed up in ways floor polish cant fix. The bot mode looks really really awesome though.
>>
>>6394988
I have two (I love aircraft carriers and they were mis-marked at deluxe price at my Toys R Us) and no, the transparent bits seem fine on him. The shitty stickers are the real problem. I'm not a purely anti sticker guy, but those peel just by leaving him on display.
>>
>>6395038
Cheers for that, just removed them and rubbing off the sticker gunk as we speak.

Eh I'm gonna paint up the runway, bit of matt black with white for the line bits sounds nifty to me, a gloss coat and then a matte coat would protect it from any man handling.

Thinking of getting some water slide decals to replace the autobot logos on him too, I want the factory ones off too but he does need something, and I can get model supplies cheaper than those reprolabel things
>>
>>6395038
I could tolerate the stickers in a bit, but the translucent wings just look awful to me no matter the mode.

I decided to get the import, and will mourn the loss of my number 86. But Broadside has to be perfect for me due to my childhood memories.

the fuck is this shitty RID-tier transformation. and a lot of RID toys have an actual good transformation.
Transformers? more like Foldformers.
>>
Seriously. I want to like Titans Return but it just feels so blah. I like the idea of headmasters, I thought having a bunch of little guys to run around the big ones as bases and pilot the vehicles would be really fun (and I probably would have liked it as a kid) but in execution it's just blocky heads, partsforming, ugly gun-canoes, and having to have huge chunks of alt mode that don't transform in order to seat the titan master.

On top of that, the strict G1 style means everything looks the same and pretty much all the transformations are just flip the backpack up to form the front of the vehicle, fold the arms to the side, fold up the legs to form the back.

Just watched Age of Extinction and very much enjoyed it. I don't get why people said it was the worst one, of the first four it's in the the top two for me, the bots have character, the action was fine, everything was fine, don't get what the problem was.

And with that out of the way I can finally see The last Knight, can't wait (well I could, clearly, but I can't wait any longer).

>>
So, to anyone who bought Transforners at Target recently, bring back you're recipets.

It's 15% off all transformers right now, so you will get the difference back and loaded onto a gift card.
>>
>>6395292
Oh, yeah, the alt modes are all pretty great and varied, I'm talking about the robot modes that get real same-y.

I don't dislike the line, but it got really stale and I'm ready for something different. I really loved Thrilling 30 for the sheer variety it delivered and after all the repaints in CW and homogenization of TR, I would really like to see something like that again.

Only the virtue signal manchildren from the allspark who voted over and over wanted anything resembling Windblade.

-Hasbro Energon Scorponok (not recommended since it has a cracking issue on the gold bits that connect the arms)
-Takara Superlink version (apparently doesn't have that issue)
-Hasbro Cybertron Dark Scorponok
-Botcon Pirates vs Knights Scorponok with zarak Headmasters (it honestly doesn't look that great and it's very expensive).

There's a Beast Wars subline to Power of the Primes next year. I work at Amazon and this will be a shared online exclusive. Us and BBTS.

No original molds, but we will get the Takara Blackarachnia mold in the US from it. Eight Deluxe and two Voyagers, Primal and Megatron. Primal is a retool of the PotP Apeface. Megatron is a retool of PotP Snapdragon. They won't have Titan Masters, so don't worry.

(The PotP Grimlock is Leader sized, so it was never a consideration to be retooled as Megatron.)

Same thing happened on my Superlink one. The piece highlighted in this pic broke when trying to transform it one day.

Basically that thin/flat plastic piece is bearing the full weight of the shoulders and arms. The shoulders also required quite a bit of force to articulate. So it will be over stressed if you play around with it too much or leave it standing in robot mode for years. It's an engineering design issue, not GPS if you were thinking that.

This is a mold that authentically deserves an uspcale KO with pointless TR gimmicks all over a Base fanmode, nothing impossible with some strategic remolding.
If wei jiang could drastically improve evasion mode optimus just think about what can they achieve with these molds.

I know people love to bash on the headmasters for whatever stupid reason, but goddamn. Titans Return has been a very good time for me. I haven't been interested in retail Transformers in many years until these guys transtectored their way right into my heart.

I'm even more psyched that Takara is tossing Targetmasters into the mix. I mean, my wallet isn't, but I sure am. Whatever the gimmick of the next line is, I don't think it can make me as giddy as this.
>>
>>6396050
What makes Scorponok so cool and fun is that he's not some giant robot scorpion, but a ridiculous construction vehicle lump that got SHAPED into a scorpion.
>>
>>6396105
I've been really impressed with the TR figures I've got. Fun transformations, solid engineering, nice poseability, look good in both modes, no deal-breaker QC issues.

I get that the aesthetic isn't for everybody but as toys they're totally satisfying to me. Given the modern restrictions on plastic use and design complexity, TR is about all I could expect from a tf toyline.
>>
>>6396064
That shoulder joint has very tight locks and required much force to turn so that it won't flop around in robot mode. The arms are really hefty on that design. I think you can prevent breakage by loosening the screw and maybe sanding down the faux ratchet part so it doesn't need that much force to turn.
>>
>>6396105
I absolutely love the boxy designs and everything, TR is what my old TF toys looked like through nostalgia goggles.

Same here.
>>
>>6396105

I just got into Transformers back in January after watching G1. I think the TR line is pretty awesome, honestly. I ignore the headmaster gimmick, though.

I tried some CW figures. The transformations suck I think, and it's kinda frustrating that the box sets use alt colors.

What's your favorite kind of shitty figure? For me this voyager Prime is up there. He might have weird proportions and trouble tabbing in alt mode but he also has:
>jet pack
>sweetass deco
>the best mech tech weapon
>rocket feet
>ankle tilts
>ball jointed wrists

In bot mode I like to switch his arms to put the wheels on the outside; they're much less in the way. It takes like two seconds to switch them back for transformation.
>>
>>6396158
>I tried some CW figures. The transformations suck I think
Because they do. The gimmick of combining required a lot of compromise on the individual bots, and the gimmick was utterly useless unless you bought enough for a whole combiner anyway. Most of the combiners weren't too hot, either, in my opinion, and require turd party add-ons to look decent.
>>
>>6396105
I like the square, boxy designs - I actually lost interest in Transformers when they started getting angular and lean. The recent runs have really appealed to me with their aesthetics, and TR's what caught my attention.

>>

Their biggest issue is that they didn't provide them with stable feet, the hand foot guns did an ok job as hands, but sucked as feet.

I would have loved if they used the Computron hands and feet saw larger distribution somehow, or Hasbro at least sold some sets on their shop.
>>

Dunno. I sold mine because he looked and posed like shit. I'm sure some anon here can tell you about all the waist/hand/feed mods you can buy from turd parties. I've seen pics, he actually ends up looking pretty decent, for a cost.

*2011~2010, Reveal the Shield was truly the golden age for being a Transformers collector up until its very end. It then started going downhill with the mediocre DotM toyline, regained some steam with Prime and a few solid Generations in the two following years and finally all went down the shitter thanks to Age of Extinction. They never truly recovered since then.

Whats there to apologize for? Some of the combiners were good, some were shit. Line had a lot of repaints because they were retarded and wanted to shove in random shit rather than just doing the smart thing and only doing the G1 combiners.
>>
>>6396189
Still looks like a bland 15 dollar generic robot from Simba Dickie. I would literally never guess that was an official release in the Generations series if it wasn't for the insignias.
>>
>>6395477
>don't get what the problem was
believe it or not, but plenty of people feel that the first one was the best
basically there are 2 types of transformers fans
those who love the human plot points, and those who love the robot plot points
TF1 & 2 were very heavy on the human plot points, 3 was less so, but still had this focal point of Sam trying to figure out his place in the world.
4 was "here's random humans dragged along for the ride as we delve deep into TF lore"
I mean, the macguffin was in human hands, but literally the entire plot of the movie could have been done with no humans at all.

Which is why many people loved it, but why fans of the first 3 hated it.

TF5 is a mix of the two, so it should please most fans.
>>
>>6396198
Generations was still great right up until Combiner Wars showed up to set a new low for Transformers standards. It all got fucked since then.
>>
>>6396187
I dunno. I always hated CW. In fact, I largely stopped visiting these threads during that time.

>>6396184
Kind of disagree. I think most of the increased complexity from the so-called "Golden Age" around RotF often just led to figures having a ton of fucking kibble. I mean, holy shit, look at this mess. >>6396198 And for all that extra complexity, that figure wasn't any more posable than most modern figures. I find the TR line to be much more fun to transform and fiddle with, and if I want a more complex/posable figure, that's what MP/3P are for.

>>6396202
I liked 4 the best. The beginning was a slog, but I found Marky Mark very enjoyable to watch get sucked into the shitshow, and Stanley Tucci was hilarious. Once the movie hit top gear, it didn't fucking stop until the credits. Loved it.

I'd argue things were starting to decline a bit even before CW happened.

Like they weren't bad, but they definitely started dumbing them down before CW started with its retool-friendly cost-cutting molds
>>
>>6396201
Whatever floats your boat. I paid 60 for him plus another 10 for the hands and feet. For 70 it's the best Menasor I'll ever bother to get because I'm sure as hell not paying 3P combiner prices. Plus I genuinely enjoy him. He has his problems but they can scramble city and I even enjoy the individual bots. CW is the definition of "good enough" in my book.
>>
>>6396213
I'm also not a fan of that Drift/Blurr mold. It had so much articulation but that's kind of useless when the kibble prevents each joint from bending more than 30 degrees.
>>
>>6396215
CW had at least one thing going... size. Some of the Thrilling 30 Deluxes might as well had been scouts.
>>
>>6396215
I think it's more that the molds were inconsistent back then. People always remember the good stuff and not the bad. The highs were pretty high, but the lines could still hit some awful lows. I think the current toys are much more consistently enjoyable.
>>
>>6396218
That was what almost totally pushed me out of retail transformers, and then the compromising gimmick of CW kept me out. I bought TR Hardhead last summer on a whim and it was like falling in love all over again, though.

Had a hare brained idea for a titan master combiner, make it be Monstructor, with how the TMs incorporate into their vehicle's monster mode, you could simulate the Pretender gimmick. Each vehicle has it's monster/robot/combiner piece form and the TM fills out most of the bot torso, Star Saber style. It doesn't have to be anymore complex than BH Abominus, and one of the TMs could be the combiner head. I see a lot of play value.

Used a dremel to carve the hole out. It's not factory-clean but it's the best I could make it, completely removes the need to remove Broadside's head to transform him.

But Titans Return quality is generally shitty anyway.
>>
>>6396223
I'm pretty sure Jazz, Grimlock, Sideswipe, Optimus, and the FOC Combaticons were the rule while Starscream and Shockwave the exception.
FOC was trash.
>>
>>6396309
FOC Optimus wasn't bad, just too small. I'd put him on the same level as Starscream, aside from Starscream's hollowness.

I never managed to find FOC Shockwave though. As one who did experience all those you listed as shit (and I agree with you), Shockwave's worth hunting down?
>>
>>6396309
I did like their pattern of releasing each retool with much better accessories. If only they released Thundercracker and Skywarp as part of the line, we might have gotten some cool weapons, like the actual null-rays from the games.
>>

FoC Ultra Magnus wasn't terrible. The oversized gunsword was pretty neat. He reminded Me of a Generationized Animated Sentinal Prime.

Did you learn nothing from Vicky and Windblade? I mean Victorion was also put up for online retailers. The gimmicks for CW and TR got me excited about collecting again. The toys aren't perfect, but they're fun.

I know a lot of people hate the Titans Return line, but I have to say Kup and Perceptor are two of my favorite Generations style toys ever. I'd nominate the Hardhead mold too, but both my Hardhead and Quake had pretty loose joints that I had to fix myself. I love what I ended up with though.

Haven't purchased a TF in a long while but I noticed Barricade moving much quicker than the others in this line so I decided to give him a chance.

It is wasn't for his lack of paint and his manlet status he would be phenomenal. Lots of personality and cool detail. An extending abdomen and a few more tampos would have made this guy top tier

In terms of simple, yet endearing transformation, I'd say Mindwipe was the best one due to the wing transformation, and decent articulation.

Highbrow suffers from a few issues (like the rotors not having their intended fold in mode that may have been nixed, but can be modified to do), Weirdwolf has a cool robot mode but has a simple transformation and a breakage issue with the cockpit hinge, and Chromedome's just an decent car bot (he's alright, just nothing mindblowing or anything).
