So I have a titans returns broadside, I bought it as soon as the legends version came up, as much as I hate stickers the overall color scheme is...sorta better, to my (shit) taste, thinking of painting up the run way and removing the stickers, I already have the supplies.

But question, the translucent sections, are they at any risk of breakage from just general transformation stand and pose usage?

I ask because I did the wing swap trick, had a moment of weakness and attempted to return him, snapped one of the wings off, I've repaired it but will the other clear parts be at risk, if so I might as well bin him and grab the legends version despite the price difference.

And yes, mine had loose thighs, pried him open, dumped some polish, much better now, apart from stickers

I am, however, very much looking forward to Octane, Blitzwing, and Overlord.

TR is good, don't get me wrong, but after TLK I don't think I can go back to the same plain old crap again, at least for awhile.

Transformers? more like Foldformers.

Seriously. I want to like Titans Return but it just feels so blah. I like the idea of headmasters, I thought having a bunch of little guys to run around the big ones as bases and pilot the vehicles would be really fun (and I probably would have liked it as a kid) but in execution it's just blocky heads, partsforming, ugly gun-canoes, and having to have huge chunks of alt mode that don't transform in order to seat the titan master.

On top of that, the strict G1 style means everything looks the same and pretty much all the transformations are just flip the backpack up to form the front of the vehicle, fold the arms to the side, fold up the legs to form the back.

Just watched Age of Extinction and very much enjoyed it. I don't get why people said it was the worst one, of the first four it's in the the top two for me, the bots have character, the action was fine, everything was fine, don't get what the problem was.

I don't dislike the line, but it got really stale and I'm ready for something different. I really loved Thrilling 30 for the sheer variety it delivered and after all the repaints in CW and homogenization of TR, I would really like to see something like that again.

There's the Energon version, Superlink version (slightly different paint), Cybertron version (Black Zarack paint, retooled stinger to use Cyberkey), and two Botcon versions, Double Punch (pink redeco) and G1 Scorponok (remolded to have a Headmaster).

I have this guy and nothing's ever broken and I've had / played with him since it came out. It's a great mold so any version is probably good. I've never heard of it having breakage issues.

-Hasbro Energon Scorponok (not recommended since it has a cracking issue on the gold bits that connect the arms)
-Takara Superlink version (apparently doesn't have that issue)
-Hasbro Cybertron Dark Scorponok
-Botcon Pirates vs Knights Scorponok with zarak Headmasters (it honestly doesn't look that great and it's very expensive).

Iron Factory's is about the height of a TR deluxe and is super high quality. No regrets on him as a purchase. There's even a Black Zarak version.

TLK Deluxe Drift has a really, really nice vehicle mode.

Just a LITTLE paint on the robot mode would have put it over the top.

Megatron is pretty nice.

There's a Beast Wars subline to Power of the Primes next year. I work at Amazon and this will be a shared online exclusive. Us and BBTS.

No original molds, but we will get the Takara Blackarachnia mold in the US from it. Eight Deluxe and two Voyagers, Primal and Megatron. Primal is a retool of the PotP Apeface. Megatron is a retool of PotP Snapdragon. They won't have Titan Masters, so don't worry.

(The PotP Grimlock is Leader sized, so it was never a consideration to be retooled as Megatron.)

Same thing happened on my Superlink one. The piece highlighted in this pic broke when trying to transform it one day.

Basically that thin/flat plastic piece is bearing the full weight of the shoulders and arms. The shoulders also required quite a bit of force to articulate. So it will be over stressed if you play around with it too much or leave it standing in robot mode for years. It's an engineering design issue, not GPS if you were thinking that.

I remember buying it when it was on discount after shelfwarming in 2008 more out of uninterested curiosity than anything, and holy fuck, it totally blew me away. I know people love to bash on the headmasters for whatever stupid reason, but goddamn. Titans Return has been a very good time for me. I haven't been interested in retail Transformers in many years until these guys transtectored their way right into my heart.

I'm even more psyched that Takara is tossing Targetmasters into the mix. I mean, my wallet isn't, but I sure am. Whatever the gimmick of the next line is, I don't think it can make me as giddy as this.

I've been really impressed with the TR figures I've got. Fun transformations, solid engineering, nice poseability, look good in both modes, no deal-breaker QC issues.

I get that the aesthetic isn't for everybody but as toys they're totally satisfying to me. Given the modern restrictions on plastic use and design complexity, TR is about all I could expect from a tf toyline.

That shoulder joint has very tight locks and required much force to turn so that it won't flop around in robot mode. The arms are really hefty on that design. I think you can prevent breakage by loosening the screw and maybe sanding down the faux ratchet part so it doesn't need that much force to turn.

I just got into Transformers back in January after watching G1. I think the TR line is pretty awesome, honestly. I ignore the headmaster gimmick, though.

I tried some CW figures. The transformations suck I think, and it's kinda frustrating that the box sets use alt colors.

Got my Spy Shot today (Sooner than I thought I would). Cute little dude, stands up well, still transforms pretty good. He's a little old and well-used but he's held up well. Rather fond of the light piping to be honest, it's a neat effect.

What's your favorite kind of shitty figure? For me this voyager Prime is up there. He might have weird proportions and trouble tabbing in alt mode but he also has:

>rocket feet
>ankle tilts
>ball jointed wrists

In bot mode I like to switch his arms to put the wheels on the outside; they're much less in the way. It takes like two seconds to switch them back for transformation.

Because they do. The gimmick of combining required a lot of compromise on the individual bots, and the gimmick was utterly useless unless you bought enough for a whole combiner anyway. Most of the combiners weren't too hot, either, in my opinion, and require turd party add-ons to look decent.

I like the square, boxy designs - I actually lost interest in Transformers when they started getting angular and lean. The recent runs have really appealed to me with their aesthetics, and TR's what caught my attention.

Had a hare brained idea for a titan master combiner, make it be Monstructor, with how the TMs incorporate into their vehicle's monster mode, you could simulate the Pretender gimmick. Each vehicle has it's monster/robot/combiner piece form and the TM fills out most of the bot torso, Star Saber style. It doesn't have to be anymore complex than BH Abominus, and one of the TMs could be the combiner head. I see a lot of play value.

I suspect it's a combination of Hasbro's finding its love again for gimmicks in TFs and the appearance of Headmasters in TR. They were perfectly willing to do targetmasters for Thrilling 30 and Early CW for example before they went crazy for HMs.

For the longest time, I had lost interest in the general retail Transformers. I stopped collecting around Transformers: Prime.

Then when I did get back into it, it was only for the Legends class figures, because their low cost and their target master gimmick.

The gimmicks for CW and TR got me excited about collecting again. The toys aren't perfect, but they're fun.

I know a lot of people hate the Titans Return line, but I have to say Kup and Perceptor are two of my favorite Generations style toys ever. I'd nominate the Hardhead mold too, but both my Hardhead and Quake had pretty loose joints that I had to fix myself. I love what I ended up with though.
