Got my Shin Godzilla last week, (love it!!). Despite all of the NECA hate, this figure looks pretty sweet, and they are really getting good at articulation of the legs, tail and especially the head...

I'm the 'zilla-fag. It really it a nice figure, the upper body is admittedly a bit stiff, and it doesn't have a very dynamic pose, but the level of detail, and the cracked "bleeding" look of his skin is amazing. plus the jaw articulation is really cool

I don't have the new one, but just looking at it the Knees are definitely different, and the fingers have articulation and they didn't originally.

Also remember people saying the bicep doesn't have a swivel anymore, but that was kind of a weak joint originally anyway, looks like they can still swivel at the elbow which will work just as well.

Yeah, there's really not a whole lot different with the figure. As you said, they removed the bicep swivel, but it swivels at the elbow anyway (always has), and they have new knees, more akin to the AvP aliens. And then throw in the (admittedly useless) finger articulation, oh and the tail swivels at the butt (which it was always glued into place on the other figures) and there's your new alien body.

People are still going to bitch and complain about the ankles and other stuff because it's not how they want it. So these new Ultimates won't be the saviors, but they're still good news for army builders. I look forward to them myself.

Well one end actually is just a swivel. You should be getting some range in the part that actually plugs into the socket. Try heating it up. I've had to shave down some pegs on a few Big Chap molds because they have studs on the balls and, while you'd think it'd help keep the ball in place, it works a little too well amd restricts motion.

If anything, I hope they change the head/neck connection. Taking it apart to fix it, I see what they were going for, but again, in practice it doesn't work quite as well as it looks like it was intended to.

My brown warrior actually has a stuck wrist joint that is impossible to fix, no amount of hot air/water helped, so i just left it like that, being wanting another warrior ever since, don't get me wrong, i still like mine, but having a more articulated one with no stuck joints + accessories will be very nice, it's always nice to have more Xenos anyway.

What Xenos are currently available that aren't exceeding $50-$60 on the market? I am trying to get into them now. I've found the Dog Alien in both color variants. I know of the Mantis, Gorilla, Genocides. I'm looking for some of the Xenos from the movies.

They always slow down near SDCC. Also, I think their schedule got really complicated because of a few things. Alien: Covenant's release date got moved ahead, so they had to reorganize release dates for Aliens products. Seems like they're having difficulty with the DC vs Aliens/Predator figures as the release dates for those are now TBD. Neca is also having issues with Rocky and it is unknown if the line will continue.

I've had the alien Queen for a little over a year now, and I was a bit iffy on collecting NECA stuff, being a bit of an import elitist. But I really liked the Mantis Alien, and it got me wondering what I was missing. I got Big Chap, but was disappointed by its uneven dome. Still, I remained interested. I was going to buy a set of Series 7, but BBTS sold out of the set of 3, and only had the whole case available. Which is annoying, but the temptations of having a start for nest was intriguing. I'll keep the Big Chaps because I like the design in white, but no idea what I'll do with 4 extra Grids. I might give one to a friend.

anyway,any tips for a new collector? Safest place to buy and avoid bootlegs? AreHong Kong sellers on eBay safe, or is it just KOs? Best Alien figures? MajorQC issues?

I just got my re-release in the mail today(My original's crown was broken off due to my room mate). Other than being a cunt to get her "tongue" in( soak her head in hot water, makes it a cinch) and some very minor paint splotches, she's perfect. The gold is brighter on the re-release, especially around the chest, has a slightly darker wash,and a swivel was added at the base of the big arms. Haven't noticed any other big changes yet.

From my understanding, it stems from the fact that the roles in Alien weren't initially written with genders in mind, and once plot elements were actually being solidified a few actually changed a few times. All the cast members were originally written as male but included a note that any of them could be any gender, because Dan O'Bannon wasn't really interested in the characters for the script, it was all about the alien and the action sequences for him. He figured the actors and director would figure that shit out, which they obviously did.
