Just found the Mission to Cybertron Optimus two-pack at TRU. I've never owned either of the molds before and I'm pleasantly surprised with the cybertronian Prime. I'm really digging his Primal-esque colorscheme.

Protoform Prime is one of my favorite movie toys.

The design of his robot form feels ancient and celestial, like some kind of alien god.

His altmode may be simplistic but I love the detail and feel of it in spite of it being basically nothing.

Got that pack too. Protoform Prime is the clear winner of the set, but I'm amazed how much I like the DotM deluxe. He's pretty articulate since he has an ab crunch and ankles. He's got a waist too, but you have to swing his backpack to use it. Also his weapon totally sucks. Thanks god for Construct bots on clearance.

Still, I'm glad this pack came out. I never would have gotten this guy otherwise.

I'd also say a stand is mandatory for Protoform Prime. He's an absolute blast to play with. You could throw him at the wall and he'd still manage to contort into a cool pose.

Only problem is his hands. They can't seem to grab anything but his gun. I've given him a bunch of swords and none of them were gripped solidly. If anyone has any tips, please let me know. This guy deserves a weapon of knightly stature.

I know the comics have a dubious rep, but the IDW movie comics actually did use the design for Prima, one of the original Primes.
Since I have so many Optimus, I do like to think of it as Prima. I've been trying to cobble together a makeshift "Thirteen" Transformers with existing toys; like Universe Razorclaw for Onyx Prime and Beast Hunters Arcee for Solis.

I don't normally follow transformers so I didn't realise it was early or anything. When I went to buy it it wouldn't scan in though so maybe it wasn't suppose to be on the shelves.
I don't know how floppy steelbane is but I find skullitron pretty floppy. My main issue is when he's in robot mode his chest plate keeps slipping up if you handle him at all. And when he's in dragon mode his neck is very off centre. But perhaps I'm doing something wrong with his neck because it doesn't look offcentre in promotional material

I just watched a video on steelbane and I was doing the neck wrong. But they aren't sure themselves what the neck is suppose to be doing but at least now it is in the centre.

Skullitron did seem stronger than steelbane as my dragon mode doesn't just collapse as easily as the steelbane does in the videos. So perhaps the ball joints are a tad better? I still regret buying it.

So I just got the leader class megatron

It's not bad, a few gripes here and there, like those stupid hollow forearms and the thigh peg to keep it locked on robot mode is loose on his left thigh(it folds when transforming to jet mode), although it may just be mine.

Another minor gripe I have is that his fist is semi closed, which is not bad in itself but it's molded in such a way that it looks like a crab's pincher lol

Finally his fusion cannon is not detachable in his robot mode, it's perpetually stuck on his right forearm; I was on the impression that it would be removable, but alas this was not the case.

One interesting thing though are his rocket booster/fusion cannon flame effects, their end is also 5 mm pegs so it can be a makeshift flaming bat for your other transformer figures if you want

Overall not bad, but I'm starting to think the voyager is much better, wish they just oversized that one

What if I like those gimmicks? Unless the leader is notably worse somehow (being incapable of posing for one, like dotm spock prime.) Or three times the price of the voytager, i prefer it so far.

Who's got Titans Return Twinferno here? I'm really mixed on it, like the general shape of it looks good but the non-rotating hand-heads make posing really weird, and in the dragon mode the things that come around to make the hips don't lock into anything from what I got, like there's that tab near the base of the pelvis but the things just don't get onto it.
The head color is really weird, too, it's a bit too heroically colored for his body, too clean and bright.

There are some minor issues.

His arms blatantly show the gaps in their most natural pose.

His transformation isn't nearly as neat as the voyager. It's like how First Edition Vehicon had the entire car as a backpack, while the RID Vehicon made the whole vehicle disappear into the legs.

Also, his skirt pieces are rubber for reasons I can't think of.

What's the overall success rate difference between Generations, RiD and the movie lines?

I remember reading DOTM sold like shit, and I physically remember seeing AOE selling like shit, for the two whole years AOE toys were almost the only thing I could find. That position has since been filled by RiD toys. I very rarely find a healthy stock of Generations toys, including CW and TR, at any point in any store.

Fun fact: it was originally supposed to have been Blitzwing who had Octane's arc in S3. Indeed, Five Faces of Darkness had him quit the Decepticons at the end and promo artwork was done in Japan when Starscream's Ghost was first announced with Blitzwing in the Octane role.

I got one, he's pretty good, but mine had an issue with the inside of his chest windows. One part had a deformed screw hole in the diecast, and I didn't notice it until I had closed his chest up, which gouged into his chrome bumper.

Given I've seen no one else with this issue, I assume it was a "You just got shit luck" problem. It bothers me because I'm the sort of person who obsesses endlessly about the simplest flaw in anything, but otherwise the figure is on point.

The issues I have with Backdraft are his hip flaps (which I've heard it's something you can contact them about to get a replacement) and his gun sliding in and out, and not tabbing quite right in his hands. If I were to get Artfire I would then get MakeToys Wrestle so they were all unique enough.

I really wish Hasbro tried to release some of the products Takara has. The standalone Groove release was nice, but I'd be great if they sold stuff like the new Targetmasters they're getting in Japan (hell, I'd be great if they replaced the 5 dollar TM's in POTP).
