For the most part, Ikea. They have a wide variety of display cabinets to choose from. Most starting toy collectors usually start off with detolfs. The price isn't bad, they hold up pretty well for the long run. If you don't live near an Ikea though, they will mess you up with shipping.

Also forgot to mention, the heads are from a Love Plus Figma. She came with alternate hair parts and plenty of faces, so I got two whole heads out of the deal. Most of the Love Plus figma are like that with alternate hair parts, but I think they're hard to find now.

I have those, too, but my display with those is even more of a clusterfuck. I have a bunch in different cabinets and areas. There's a lot I WANT to collect from smaller lines; I'd love to have a full Marvel Legends collection,but bigger stuff eats up the budget and toy hunting is frustrating (and I'm actually somewhat frugal, so I try to avoid paying above retail or I just settle without it). Do in a way Im in the opposite boat you are.

I actually am planning on getting a Cap, but I mainly focus on designs that are closest to the comic ones. Hence why I have Spider-man from that awful ASM2 movie; I like the suit. With Captain America, my favorite look has been the Winter Soldier Classic look, but the Hot Toys version has a dopey head so I'd need to do some part swapping.

Also, Hulk is great, and relatively cheap. He is appropriately massive, as he has to be crouched to fit on that shelf. He feels like a high quality NECA figure, in a good way, more than a Hot Toys.

It's more of a miscellaneous shelf, the turtles are there until I get more quality TMNT figures. I was thinking of getting the NECA mirage and Revolones for a generational display. Also I grew up with the movies, and, sadly, next Mutation , so I relate them to Toku, just a bit.

Thanks man. The mega man is the Koto model kit. It's kind of flimsy, but it looks pretty good even without any paint.

Mario and Luigi are good. Their articulation isn't amazing, but they can do most things you would want them to be able to do. The sculpts and paint are spot on though.

I've come to a realization that minimalist display looks best. Hell even no /toy/autism at all is the best look for your room if you want to look like a functioning adult rather than manchildren.

One day once I retire I'll have a manchildren cave basement room to shamelessly clutter and display all the toys that I like, but for now since I'm living in a small apartment in a big city, and the social pressure of having a decent hangout place with normie friends, all my /toy/s are in storage unit, and I make a trip every month there just to store my monthly amiami orders

I have a display case with wooden shelves, but I want to replace then with glass. I've priced it online, and the cost difference between plexiglass and tempered glass is negligible. What are the pros and cons between them, when used as shelving?

For reference, each piece is 18"x36"x1/4"

Plexiglass is plastic. It can become cloudy if you clean it with the wrong chemicals and it probably feels a little cheaper to the touch. As long as the price is negligible, I would go with the tempered glass. Just give the shelves plenty of support.

I've actually tweaked it since the last pic, some additions, some unboxing. Had to evict the superhero stuff. I recently bought a couple Mezco figures, so I'll probably stick all those on their own detolf soon.

Still need Black Pit, SHF Ryu, Figma TP Link, WoN Baby Bowser and Inkling Girl, and maybe PAK Bayonetta and some old Cloud figure to round it out. They'd be posed with a mushroom to account for size differences. Still need to find a decent Pikachu and Pacman to use, too. I have Other Pokémon figurines in storage to add, but I want a decent sized Pikachu

Stage: Saint Saiya Myth Cloth DX Stage. I got it from an HLJ sale a while back, idk how easy it is to come by these days.

Pikachu: It's just some toy I've had since I was a kid. The back of it has "Bakery Crafts" imprinted on it, so it's probably an old birthday cake topper. Going to replace it with SHF Ash and Pikachu soon.

Olimar and Pikmin: World of Nintendo. They were pretty hard to come by. These were pretty much the only ones I've found in stores.

To be fair, it's hard to make dozens of primary colored (and frequently clashing colored) figures of any stripe look good when put on a shelf. TF's just get noticed the most because they tend to have a shitload of stuff hanging off them due to transforming AND being garishly colored, and having literally hundreds of characters people might try to cram on one shelf because it's such a long running toy line with so many different iterations.

Honestly it's because I haven't got as much space and they make nice background for the figures I do have. The figuarts pose better and they were opened when I got them so I didn't see the harm. Also I tried posing Agent Venom a little bit but I don't know if it's a deficiency with this particular figure of if Marvel Legends joints in general kind of suck.

He's not spectacular, but its a fun figure to have Just slightly off scale from Hot toys figures, though. Just a bit shorter and skinnier. I removed the white cardboard backing insert that sits behind the glass doors. I did not install the handles. I bought additional hardware and dust-resistant weather stripping to line the perimeter and in between the doors of the bookcase to prevent dust from getting in.

The key is to not centralize it in one place. I do have a room with most of my figurines. But I also like it to influence the rest of my house. My GF doesn't mind as long as I don't go overboard with it.
so my most 'classy and classic' figurines are spread over the house. for example, I have an R2D2 and C3PO set next to a Yoda in a designer cabinet. It's something everyone knows and not even a single person who entered my house has commented on them. so they either don't care or don't see. eitehr way, i don't care because i'm happy when I see them when I pass the cabinet.
My room isn't cluttered with figurines either though. I got a glass display case wich holds most of them. Next to it I have a 50cm gordon Freeman. My GF's statement was: "I don't know who that is, but that is one cool statue!" She wouldn't want it in the living room or anything but she appreciates a nice statue I guess.
I also have some demiheroes or classic sonic statues wich she can relate too because they are cute or whatever. People arent as 'phobic' for figurines as you might think

I'm almost positive that people like the minimalist look because it lacks any personality, so when they look at a picture like that, they find nothing to be offended about.
Plus, it's clean, unlike 96% of all displays on /toy/.
Plus also, everything you like is bad, so every display on /toy/ is ugly and bad.

In reality, people aren't clean and not inserting your own likes into your living area is nearly impossible, because that's just boring.
Someone needs to actively keep a minimalist look set, by not purchasing anything or always putting it out of sight. It's a lot of work and that's just too much, especially for you kids who can't even dust your shit regularly.

It's easy to improve when you realize you don't have to display your entire collection. it's difficult to get something that dense to look good. pick a few nice figures per shelf and rotate them out every so often. don't bother with lighting if you're gonna have every shelf packed
