Are these up for preorder yet? I'm generally not too interested in these due to the small size, but I sorta need a GITD and Fire in my life.

How big are the "bigger" skeletons anyway? Aka the glow and fire ones in the bottom row.

Amiami.com has them for preorder. Pic related not mine, but gives a general idea on the differences between the two types.

In other news, Amazon finally decided to ship my Jizai samurai skelly. It's coming from down the road a ways, so it should be here tomorrow. I was starting to think they were gonna cancel the damn thing.

>Asking again from the previous thread

Is there a good figure of a Necromancer that can be the leader of our skellie army?
Like some necromancer from Diablo or any Fantasy theme games
>>
>>6363950

I guess you'd need to be a little more specific. How large, in height is your skelly army? Are they Dokuroman (4"), or BFS (3.75") or Pose skelly (3.5")? Or did you buy a bunch of Kaiyodo ones (5.5")? I'd think that any skeleton that's taller than the average trooper should look good.

I don't know exactly what a Diablo Necromancer looks like, but I'd recommend soft-goods robes if you want a robed figure. On the previous thread, I mentioned the wondrous advantages of soft goods over molded clothing when it comes to robes.

There actually is a diablo 2 necromancer figure, but he's pretty expensive and rare these days($80+). The unraveller figure from the same line is a lot cheaper and might make a good stand in.

Radically-customized October Toys skellys? Unfortunately, their store and website are dead as doornails, but the skeletons sometimes show up on ebay. Back in April, a lot of eight sold for $45. Damn, I shoulda been paying attention.

Here's 3 of mine. It should be easy to pick out the leader.

>>
>>6366583
I want to thank you again for bringing that to the thread's attention. Killer price for that figure.
>>
>>6366601
I was a little worried that the seller wouldn't honor the price and cancel the order. So I didn't say anything while my order spent days in limbo. My Samurai skelly finally arrived yesterday!

The paint apps on the skull are kinda heavy. To be honest, the Kaiyodo Jason/Argo is a more attractive skelly, but for the price and the ton of accessories and the packaging, the Samurai skelly is totally worth it. So much STUFF in the box!

You can get a better break on postage costs at Big Bad Toy Store. Ordering direct from BFS has a tendency to have unusually high postage costs. On mt first order, I paid them $10 to ship me one Greek warrior and 2 skeleton blanks. It did not cost them $10 to ship it to me, even factoring in the cost of the cardboard box.

But, BBTS does not get their pre-order stock as soon as BFS does (of course) so you're in for a longer wait to get pre-orders.

do you live on the moon or something? I got the express shipping on a skele blank and amazon warrior for $8
>>
>>6369630
No, I live in the continental US. Don't get me wrong, I love what BFS produces. It's just that they charge more for postage than what's necessary. Case in point: Talos. I paid them $5.74 in postage costs. Yet the box arrived with First Class postage labels, with a weight of 6 oz. USPS sez that mailing a 6 oz pkg from MA to me is $3.03. Plus BFS gets a commercial shipper's discount. The cardboard box doesn't cost them 3 bucks. So the unaccounted-for remainder is profit. It adds up after a while if you order when stuff becomes available, because saving up items for one big order sometimes means stuff gets sold out, or the price goes up.

The good news is that recently, they must have revamped their shipping calculator, so now buying 2 warrior skeletons (incl accessories) is 6 bucks. Originally, the mailing costs for 2x skellys was something like 8 or 9 bucks.

Speaking of Halloween, I wanted to let you all know to keep a lookout in August at Michael's for bags of skulls/skull bracelets.

There's 2 skull designs. The larger ones are Kaiyodo/October Toys sized. They're not extremely accurate, but they'll do for decorations, dioramas, etc. You can saw them in half with a hacksaw and use them to decorate castle walls, doorways, torture devices, etc.

The small er skulls are a near-perfect 1:18 scale- for decorations revolving around Pose skeleton, Dokuroman, BFS skelly, Gi Joe etc. They're suitable for battlefield dios, or smaller-scale castles, etc. They can also be transplanted onto 1:18 figures, so you can build skull-head troops for cheap.

Be sure to download the 40%-off coupon before you go!

It is.

My recommendation:

Jason/Argo if you can get it The base is great, it has a lot of accessories, and the paint apps on the skelly are subtle and very pleasing to the eye.

Samurai- if you can get it at a reasonable price only (like $35-$40). The paint apps are really heavily applied- like the skelly dipped his entire head in a vat of tar and wiped some of it off with a handkerchief. I'm seriously considering some paint removal. But, if you like Japan and Japan culture, it's a shoo-in.
>>
"Maybe I'd look nicer if you would take me out on occasion!"

Well, you are not the only boneposter here, so I guess that the question still stands
>>
Hey Pose Skele bros, does anyone own the Oden cart and can they tell me how it, or any pose skeleton stuff, scales with figma/figuarts?
>>
>>6384975
I don't own it but I can tell you that Pose Skellies are way smaller than Figma/Figuarts, so any of their accessories probably won't scale very well.
>>
>>6384742
Cursed Skeleton is still too damn high. Buck price and bag o' bones are nice, though.
>>
>>6384975
Scales badly.
Figma is about 1:13 scale- figures are about 5.5".

Pose sksleton/Oden cart are 1:20-1:18 scale. Figures are 3.5" tall.

In that size, the 2" difference means A LOT. It's like an adult trying to sit on Fisher Price chairs.
>>
>>6385134
Yeah, it's not much of a price break for the Cursed Skeleton, because they're dropping the price to what it was 2 months ago before they raised it to $24.99.

Cursed Skeleton looks clunky in that oversized male BFS armor. For aesthetic purposes, I'll pass.

>>
>>6386713
It's a little hard to say. Buy what you like, and whatever fits your current theme. The white skellys have a few advantages- they can be paint washed to bring out the detail, and they look like traditional skellys. The purple one is semi-transparent, and that can be useful for a warlock etc, or something magical. The pink one- I'm not sure how to fit it into a diorama. If you have a lot of frou-frou and the girly Pose skelly, then the bubblegum pink one will fit in.

I see you have a working hinge on the door! My favorite source for those hinges is Michael's (with 40% off coupon).

As for the egg cartons- you could ask co-workers, family, members of any local clubs you belong to, vendors at farmer's markets to save them for you. I've had success at the farmer's markets. Near closing time, I'd ask for an egg carton, and they'd say, "how many?"

One last hint- you can grout the stones using lightweight spacking paste. Scoop some on a card, add a drop of gray acrylic and mix them. then, use a toothpick to apply the spackling paste and use your fingers to press it in and smooth it.

That's how I got the full grouted stone effect.

They were the ones with a failed kickstarter a while back focused on making a line of army builder characters (if I remember correctly)

This was the skeleton they made. 6". Finally getting released.
>>
Hmm, not sure how I feel about that one, but more boney goodness is always a good thing.
>>
>>6395165
Yeah, saw the announcement on The Fwoosh.

However, since the guy cancelled his KS a year ago and then dropped out of existence for a year (I hear he had personal/family issues), it's good to see him active again. BUT... it's still a long way from any real confirmation that these are going KS again, getting funded or really being released.

Based on his outlines, maybe he'll resurrect the 6" skeletons, and it looks like a blank male and blank female body. Holding off on the soldier figures seems like a good idea.
>>
>>6395453
Are there no other 6 inch skeletal figures?
>>
>>6395460
Only Mythic Legions. But- those skellys are permanently encased in armor, and they're hard to buy. Seems that 4H only makes enough to cover the pre-orders and the barely have any leftover to sell to the general public.

The only other 6" articulated skeleton on the market are the Kaiyodo ones, at 5.5", not 6".
>>
Did any of you manage to get one of those Jade Skeletons before they stopped making them?
>>
>>6395532
Yes, bought 2 of 'em. One of them has been slightly customized into a pirate. The other is still in the bag until I decide what to do with it.

About a month or two ago, there was word that if you contacted George Gaspar via Instagram, he could sell you a few skeletons. Don't know if the offer is still good, but you can try.
>>
>>6395594
Would you be willing to sell the one you have if he doesn't have any?
>>
>>6395594
Sent him a message, wish me luck.
>>
>>6395602
Good luck! I also sent a msg, just in case he still has a metallic one.

Sorry, but I wasn't planning on selling my Jade one. Hopefully he still has a few- after all, his shop closed abruptly before Xmas of last year and he still had stock right up until the day that the online store closed "for the holidays". It's just that he never reopened it, making it hard for people to buy them afterwards.
>>
>>6395615
Why did they close, anyway? I know what the site says, but it's too generic to be the whole truth.
>>
>>6395623
Good news, Anon! George Gaspar confirmed that he still has metallic, jade, bone and pumpkin skellys that he's willing to sell. Email to [email protected]. Tell him how many of each and your address and he'll send you a total price
>>
>>6395672
He replied to mine too, I saw that he had metallic and thought of you.
>>
>>6395623
Well since you asked... I'll repost my conjecture about them...

Well, they never came outright and said why. But, since I really liked what they did and I was a follower, I can speculate. Oct Toys was a husband-and-wife team that also did an online show called "Toy Break". They broke up and went separate ways, each with new significant others.

In addition, they tried to do a second, poorly thought-out Kickstarter for *one* Skeleton Warriors character that failed (Sept 2015). Around that time, they showed less and less interest in posting on their own forum, and told their own fanbase to leave the forum, for (ahem) technical upgrades that never happened. So, once the fanbase scattered, they never came back.

After the 2nd KS and forum debacles, they basically stopped producing any toylines (OMFG included). They'd occasionally offer new colors for existing molds (skeletons and OMFG figs) and would vaguely allude to a relaunch of Skeleton Warriors Kickstarter on their FB, but that never happened either. I suspect financial difficulties too, associated with the 2nd KS. It took time and money to come up with prototypes and to work with the factory to get pricing.

But they painted themselves into a corner, with a non-sustainable business model of needing $50,000 for one skeleton-ish character of an obscure cartoon with no mold reuse opportunities. Any plans to go further with individual characters from Skeleton Warriors was doomed to fail. What's frustrating is that they had success right in their hands- it was within reach. Customizable generic skeleton body parts packs with different mix n' match skulls, bones, etc. that could be bought in bulk for army building and also provide variation. They were so close to a true 1:18 sturdy skeleton... all they needed was 4 parts- shorter shinbones and legbones which could have brought their skellys to 4.5" or even a burly 4.25".

Then finally, Oct Toys died an ignominious death in Feb of this year.
>>
>>6395680
Thanks for sharing your theory, it's a real shame when that kind of thing happens.
>>
>>6395680
(cont'd)

P.S. That's one of my reasons for being a little worried about Boss Fight Studio and their Bucky O'Hare figures. I really hope they're successful, and hope that the Bucky figs don't end up bankrupting them with... (I sound like a broken record) a non-sustainable business model/ no mold reuse etc.)

The guy who was planning the 6" skeletons- Cryptid Toys... word has it that he sunk his life savings into the project, only to cancel it. So, based on this, it costs money to prototype and pitch a toyline on KS, successful or not.

So, adding all the pieces together from many sources, I'd say that the failed Grimskull KS was the nail in the coffin for Oct Toys.
>>
>>6395694
I'm concerned about the Bucky O'Hare line as well. I may be recalling incorrectly, but BO strikes me as only slightly less obscure than Skeleton Warriors. I have a vagure recollection of the theme song and toy line, but that's about all.

Hope I'm wrong, though. I hope it makes them a boatload of cash.
>>
>>6395705
(I'm feeling talkative today)

Well... to be honest, I'd never HEARD of either Skeleton Warriors or Bucky O'Hare until the toylines were launched. Age factor, I'm sure.

I'd say that SW has a slight advantage because one can actually buy the DVD on Amazon.Com. Bucky- no DVD. Must be out of print. People who want to watch the Bucky cartoons are SOL, unless they want to download illegal copies of it or maybe watch some of it on YouTube.

The Bucky and Jenny figs are being sold at a premium price- clearly to recoup the costs of molds/manufacture. They'd sell in much smaller quantities than the Greek/Medusa figures.

I too want BFS to make a boatload of cash on Bucky- maybe it'll convince them to make more figs, as long as the demand and the money are there. I definitely don't want BFS' ship to sink if they made a mistake on those. We'll have to see.

It annoys me to no end that fanboys keep clamoring for "Al-negator!" "Toad Trooper!" with NO IDEA how much BFS has to sink into this, taking all the risks themselves. Makes me want to wring their necks and say, "Got $50,000, fanboy? Donate it to BFS and THEN you can get your Al-Negator or Toad Troopers".

However, they didn't say "fully articulated" and they're pricey because they're made to order and not a mass-produced item.

Rement is probably the best bet as far as the company most likely to make a fully-articulated dragon skeleton. But, we don't really have any input on this, and they produce stuff whenever they're ready. Could be a long wait, or could be just around the corner.

There are a few, actually. Nothing huge and menacing, but they're out there. They tend to be fuck-all expensive now, though. How to Train You're Dragon's Boneknapper would work fairly well with PoseSkellies after a paintwash. McFarlane's Fossil Dragon is a little more gory, and it's a nerd Hummel, so articulation will be at a minimum.

I didn't know October Toys cooked up pic related to show off the Skeleton Warriors figures.
>>
>>6399712

Yeah, I know... looking at the photo there and wondering what could have been...

If I recall correctly, the bone dragon in the Oct Toys pic was a prototype for the earlier line of Skeleton Warriors toys by Playmates (mid 90's). It never went into production, because the toyline was cancelled. When Oct Toys got the license, they also received a lot of the materials for the 90's era line. The bone dragon was taken to various conventions to display with the new like of Oct Toys figures to help promote them.

In an alternate universe, maybe Oct Toys could have sculpted and pitched a fully articulated bone dragon on KS, instead of Grimskull. Maybe the bone dragon, even as a pricey item, may have been successful as a $75-$100 figure.

Also looking at the skeleton guards. (Sigh) So close. All they needed was a few parts to be tooled and then added onto an existing set of molds. Would I have bought 6, or a dozen of them? Hell yeah! More than Grimskull, fer sure.
>>
I thought there was something familiar about it. I didn't go looking for the cancelled stuff to confirm, though. I can't help but feel that if it were Four Horsemen doing that dragon that it would happen no problem.

I made a seifuku for my COO skeleton, but the articulation is too shitty to make a lot of fun poses. I started a keyhole sweater, but I think I'll scrap the 1/6 one and just make a 1/12th one for the Revolskel.

It turns out skeletons are REALLY hard to draft slopers (a custom-tailored "blank" that can be modified into patterns) on. This time I think I'll try wrapping my new skeleton in padding to bulk it up first.

Okay! It took Boss Fight Studio a while to ship me my 3 skeletons and 2 bag of bones grab bags. The skeletons- we all know about. The Bag of Bones (selling for $3.99 each) of course is the tantalizing mystery... what's in the bag?

Here's some pics of what a BFS bag of bones contains. Mostly black and purple skeleton parts. There's several good skulls there! At least 8 of them. Skulls are always useful for dioramas, and they can be transplanted onto other bodies, too! It has plenty of leg bones, but a lot of them are a bit wonky- factory seconds/rejects, I suppose. Nothing a fireplace lighter won't fix.

The big question is- is there a complete skeleton in there? The answer is YES- to a certain degree. There is a complete black skeleton, but the pin on one of the shoulder joints was broken off. Tried to boil off the bad part, but it's stuck in there. Had to swap a purple upper arm. Maybe I can paint it.

Another bonus: BFS defines "bones" rather loosely, so the bag came with 3 bone weapons! It has a large, impressive bone scepter, a nice painted bone dagger, and a plain white bone dagger.

Definitely worth $3.99 for a complete skeleton, weapons, skulls galore and plenty of diorama pieces!

That "scepter" is actually a helmet.

It is? It never occurred to me to put it on the skeleton's head! So now that part has 3 purposes: Helmet, Scepter and Big bone-bashin' club!

Here is what I got out of just 3 bags, 14 total full skellies, and only 3 arent a solid color. I was playing with paint, and the one on the far left im building up latex to "flesh"it out and make it more zombie. None of the paint is serious, its all just stuff I played around with.

Also that thing on the right is a monster im working on, I call it the abomination

One of the Amazon reviews says it's articulated, but without the full range of movement. I imagine there is no friction in the joints, so they just hang limp.

Yeah, I don't mind the Halloween stuff showing up early. Hobby Lobby putting out Christmas stuff in May was a bit excessive, though.

From the display placard it doesn't look like there's gonna be much new on the skeleton front, but it may still prove useful. The dragon skeleton's over 6.5' feet long.

I like this one! It's a little too accurate! How tall are the actual cubicle panels? Their website says the figs are only 2-3/4″ tall, so are the wall panels 3" tall?

Looking at this almost makes me nostalgic for the time I spent working in IT in a major company's corporate headquarters. Looking back, having a private cubicle was a privilege and a luxury that was taken away from us once the whole "open office" concept started getting popular. *Sigh*. Home sweet cubicle. Those were the days!
