>Lego's ripping off Lepin now. A STUNNING REVERSAL
You do know that that was originally a Lego set, right?
speaking of clones of clones, my next project: copy this design
i'm going to with 32x32 overall, partitioned into 16x16 quarters
watch me fail spectacularly
>>6343127
You can do it!
>>6343121
>You do know that that was originally a Lego set, right?
You do know that that was a joke, right?
>>6343131
It's hard to tell. Some people act so stupid that a normal person can't distinguish the actors from the actual silly willies.
>>6343131
You never know with chinkfans...
>>6343128
imma do my best
step 1: clean up old MOCs, take the pieces needed. destroying MOCs is kind of a zen experience, like those tibetan monks who sweep away the sand mandalas
and yes i know, not your personal blog. don't hold your breath for me completing this, though
>>6343135
What type of arm do you think is better?
>>6343225
desu I don't like either, sorry anon
The one on the left, the forearm looks too thin and the right one, the elbows too huge.
I'd use the upper arms of the left one and make new forearms using these parts

https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=48729
>>6343236
I've tried that and the arms end up too long.
this is a set with the most adorable robber ever
>>6343127
There are few people that did that already. I wish you luck!
>>6343266
Robber's face is pretty generic but I'm always looking for more mustache men
Reminder that this is most dissapointing set for 2017
>Ramp is not elevaded properly
>2 small builds instead one kiosk-o-bustop
>The top of the bus is not tiled so its hard to get inside
>You can mount two bicycles on back
>>6343273
>>Ramp is not elevaded properly
fucking hell anon
how about the bike kid's helmet, is it CFR title 16 compliant?
She's no PLAYER TWO but I hope the LEVEL UP lady shows up in the CMFs!
>>6343266
Why is there a safe on the outside?
>>6343285
Secure donut storage. There are Homers roaming the city, after all.
The Lego Police State has never faced such a threat...
>>6343287
I do love this torso.
>Introducing Ivana Chairmanoff, Russian Space Supermodel
>But what is this? A disgustyink alien from the outer space!
>Ah, but surprise for us; it is fan of Ivana's! He has come with the space shokolad!
>Unfortunately, Ivana's heart is cold like the murky space-depths.
>>6343283
She won't, she's promo art for the LEGO Video Games brand.
>>6343266
I wish they'd dirtied her up so she's not so generically pretty. I don't know, it seems kind of lazy that they didn't try to find a female equivalent of the normal robber pube beard.
>>6343322
Curses!
Anyone else love Episode 1 sets?
Maybe I'm just kinda nostalgic, since I'm born in 93 so I was the perfect age when the first SW sets came out, got both the first Naboo Starfighter and the Sith Infiltrator.
Somehow I feel like Episode 1 vehicles make great sets. Right now I'm thinking of getting pic related, and I really would like to bricklink the latest podracer set.
>>6343283
That VR headset's not a real piece, is it?
>>6343273
You saying poor design choices crippled the set?
>>6343403
Looks like its from the later power miners figs
*beep beep*
*yeti noises*
>>6343283
why does lego do RAPE jokes now
>>6343425
KILL THE XENO
and take its sweet ride
Xenos are only supposed to be slightly larger than man-sized, right?
That's so boring.
I managed to find some more black claw pieces to fill in some more joints, but geez.
Where did I even get this many claw pieces?
Also made a Ripley.
>>6343266
Nigga please.
>>6343131
i was just pretending :D
>>6343453
Ohhhhhhhh damn
I need that head
I thought the only female head with domino mask was the CMF cat burglar
>>6343444
It's just the cut of that particular hip piece. It's a little bit shoddy but I don't have another one :/
>forgetting how tall figures are and making a roof too small
God I feel stupid
>>6343415
I wish! Maybe eventually. That'd be pretty baller for some of my space displays.
>>6343542
I've done that
post old MOCs you're breaking up for parts!
>>6343582
Been slowly cannabalizing this castle for a longer time now. One of the earlier things i've posted here if i remember.
The "doublesided head" part is still intact mostly, but the walls have been crumbling more and more recently. I did recently build some medieval characters though.
Frazetta anon, how are you doing btw?
>>6343582
>>6343582
Does it count if I broke down the mics and did something with the same pieces just in different places?
If so then 3 trucks
And a dino attack hummve
I've been away since February almost and haven't kept up with Lego at all.
Can an anon be kind and fill me in on anything important I would have missed?
>>6343650
New City theme is Jungle. It has molded tigers, panthers, and a giant venus flytrap.
THE BRICK SHOOOOOOOOOOOW
>>6343661
Setfags, see the light. See past the themes and embrace the pieces, let your own creativity flow.
>>6343682
>paying a 20% markup because of a logo on the box
I'll stick with my Creator sets, thanks.
I've hit an all time low, I stole lego for the first time
>>6343686
Did you buy a set, gently slice open the tape, open the box, slice a cut into the bags and steal the pieces, the reinsert useless pieces back in, put it back into the box and then reseal the tape with super thin slices of packing tape while wearing gloves and paying with cash?
NO? Then get on my level.
>>6343686
How did you do it?
>>6343694
I'm confused. Where in the process do you pay for anything?
>>6343695
Was feeling batman bags and one was ripped, and it was a fig I wanted so I just emptied the bag and left
>>6343700
Buy the set, do all that shit then return it.
Has to be done at Walmart though, because they don't give a shit about checking your item.
>>6343700
>I'm confused. Where in the process do you pay for anything?
First five words of his post.
>>6343701
Boring, come back when you steal a set
>>6343701
It's fine. A month or so ago I was at a Walmart looking through their Lego aisle, and about 80% (no exaggeration) of their TLBM CMF bags had been ripped open, but most of the parts were either still in the bags or scattered around the shelves and floor. I just grabbed handfuls of pieces as I pretended to dig through sets and disgustedly examine the opened bags.
>>6343707
Fine, I've now made it my goal to steal the assembly square piece by piece
>>6343667
THE BRICK
*inhale*
SHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW
>>6343707
How do you steal an entire set?
>>6343225
why not just use this or similar? why do people prefer the limited c-clip joints
>>6343725
Look at the post you linked, then look six posts above it.
>>6343709
Giving a good home to stray pieces scattered all over hamhanded buffoons who cannot feel bags properly is an act of mercy.
>>6343453
I like how her civilian wear is a really spiffy prison outfit.
>>6343737
>scattered all over hamhanded buffoons
Serves them right to drown in loose pieces! Now make them take off their shoes and walk on them!
>>6343742
Reminds me of Ma Beagle.
>>6343722
Honestly impressive.
I got the new Fighter tank.
>>6343412
That is a really good N1 design. The back needs a little tweaking in my opinion, but the front is perfect. And the firing mechanism is neat too.
>>6343746
>$1,000 worth of klocki
>>6343772
I've always crowed about how good that N1 set is. It's got everything you need.
>>6343777
Except Qui-Gon
>>6343780
Fair enough. But TWO DROIDEKAS, SON
>>6343773
Quick! Somebody grab a vacuum cleaner!
>>6343765
Are you the guy who posted about the hangar MOC a while ago?
Background looks familiar
>>6343734
I stole an entire box of Lego Movie blind bag figures. Sold it for $225.
>>6343787
I got you bro
>>6343788
Yeah, that's me.
>>6343789
Hondo would be very proud.
>>6343789
How'd you manage that?
>>6343792
>KID-POWERED
>>6343789
Holy shit, how?
>>6343765
I wish Lego made technic pins in different colors.
>>6343825
What are you, a fucking hamplanet to have a jacket that big?
>>6343792
I recall there was a secret guild to absconding with Lego that involved a small vacuum pump with a very long hose running down your sleeve and inserted into the pick-a-brick bins. I used to have that saved but I have no clue if I still have it.
>>6343829
I recall hearing a story about a woman who got caught shoplifting after employees realized she would suddenly gain a lot of weight whenever she was in the store. I can't recall what they discovered her hiding under her clothing.
>>6343831
seems like the build-a-minifig bins would be a better target
>>6343829
It was bulky as fuck, but the cashier didn't notice because she was busy with customers. I admit, I was lucky not to be noticed. I was feeling suicidal at the time and didn't care what happened, so I went for it. It's amazing what you can accomplish when you just don't give a fuck.
>>6343838
Oh it was by no means a serious guide. Guess I should have put it in quotes to emphasize that.
>>6343844
I liked your story better when it was a secret guild of vacuum-powered thieves stealing mass quantities of klocki.
How would you go about cleaning parts that have taken smoke and soot damage?
>>6343853
Put them in a container with a lid, fill the entire container with undiluted Simple Green, let them soak for two weeks, rinse thoroughly with hot water using a strainer, and soak them in undiluted Simple Green for another two weeks.
Use a fingernail scrub brush to clean them if there's a lot of stuff stuck to them between soaks. If they aren't clean after two or three soaks, they're probably not getting any cleaner.
>>6343851
It is a funny idea but most people bitch about how loud the vacuum would be and how you'd cover it up. I wish I could remember find the picture but I like to imagine it was a neckbearded trenchcoat ninja.
>>6343851
The secret handshake must really suck.
>>6343792
I owned that thing. It was a fun action set piece for my stories.
>>6343839
That sucks, anon. I hope you're feeling better these days. I know from experience the feeling suicidal and the loss of giving a fuck is both strangely liberating and freak as fuck.
>>6343311
What hair is that, the CMF Egyptian Queen with the decal removed? I went looking for a bob cut hairpiece and that was the only one I could find somehow.
>>6343902
Oh shit, thanks. I was searching within 'hair, female' and because a bob cut apparently isn't a female haircut it wasn't included.
>>6343905
I have quite a few thanks to cheap polybags for nya and zane.
are there any uses for pic related?
>>6343942
Haven't checked this yet, are those bars at the sides the same diameter as mini-pegs?
>>6343947
They're slightly smaller and a lot shorter than the little bar on a minifig's hand.
>>6343954
I meant the pegs used for flames, quills and the friends style hair accessoiries.
>>6343957
Just tried it, they trigger pegs are thicker.
but they seem to fit okay into the axle holes in these: https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?id=53126
So there's one idea.
>>6343968
That's pretty neat.
Have you tried the trolley wheels connections like on skateboards? And those wheel fork pieces seen on planes often that used the same pegs as the old bike moulds?
Huh.
Hands and hips are interchangeable.
>>6343273
>>6343985
You sick bastard!
>>6343878
was it some sort of a monster?
>>6343976
Those use the same axle size, so it works alright.
>>6343985
I wonder if they'll ever reboot the minifig to use all 3.18 connections.
>>6343985
Known about this trick since I was young, I thought it was widely known.
The hip+arm combo isn't so useful, but the hand+leg combo is super useful, especially for robot arms and large scale fingers and stuff like that.
>>6343985
These connections are haram

Lego Quest presents: the Island of Dr. Brickeau
>>6344038
Nice, thanks anon.
That rear wheel solution to add a centred bar-connection could be really useful!
>>6344056
Can you think of anything else that fits in there?
I know about small barrel revolvers and minifig hands, that's about it.
>>6344089
Tip of the new cmf spaceman raygun?
>>6343121
10/10 AFOL baiting there, gentlemen
Can't stop making small modifications.
When I was a kid, I thought that Wolfpack were Mexican or Spanish.
Wolfpack in the pic related.
>>6344115
Can you post a cross-section or ldd thing when you're done?
>>6343857
How would this affect any parts with printing on them, like minifigure torsos?
Anyone else hyped?
>>6344127
wait is that a ponyear/420policecar technique in an new Lego set?
Those nanofigs look neat. The floating escapepod thing does things for me too.
>>6344123
Here's the last one partially deconstructed.
>>6344137
Yea its an amazing looking set, the inside of it is really well detailed too (according to a diagram I found online of it),
>>6343725
It's shockingly easy if you have confidence.
I've stolen hundreds of dollars worth of Lego from Wal-Marts.
I have loaded entire carts up with Lego, and walked out the door.
One time a person at the door asked me for my receipt, and I told them I already tossed it, and continued on my merry way, no further questions asked.
They do not give a fuck at Wal-Mart.
I'm not stealing anymore, though. I've gotten past that.
It was a rough time.
>>6344139
Managed to figure out the cockpit, seems like a good design so far. Love how the backend looks, will try to figure it out when I'm not tired.
>>6344153
>They do not give a fuck at Wal-Mart.
Walmartian here, if I may make a slight correction: we're not ALLOWED to give a fuck. Home Office feels that it's cheaper just to let people get away with shoplifting than to accuse an innocent person with it and get slapped with a lawsuit.
Until security has footage of you stealing a few thousand dollars worth of merch, of course. Then it's felony accusation time!
>>6344137
>a ponyear/420policecar technique
a what
>>6344115
I like the sides of the first one the most, desu
>>6343642
Never cared for the second wave. They screwed up an already flimsy concept.
>>6344189
Placing a tile between 2 studs. It's legal for tiles iirc, but not plates because there's a stud collision that makes it less sturdy.
What is the leading cause of the crime rate in Lego City?
Are there not enough job options? Is the pay too low?
>>6344263
Illegal building techniques
>>6344263
illegal immigration
>>6343839
I almost got into a car accident because of that "suicidal and don't care" feeling.
At least I also avoided a speeding ticket and causing other accidents in the process.
>>6343127
Want a scan of the instructions for that? I have it. Might take me a day to scan them and upload though.
>>6344153
>I have loaded entire carts up with Lego, and walked out the door.
I did that once. I loaded up a cart with about $2,000 of Lego and walked out of the store with it. The old lady at the door kept asking me for a receipt and I ignored here. And I would've gotten away with it had it not been for a customer who was willing to put his life on the line to prevent a multi-billion dollar corporation from a losing a few dollars. He followed me out into the parking lot and started recording me with his iphone. I ended up having to ditch the cart and ran behind the store to lose him.
>>6344372
Do you know how easy it is to snatch an average plebs phone right out of their hands when they are recording with it? Should have done that or knocked him out and grabbed it. Hold it long enough to erase the vid and then just drop it behind the store.
>>6344285
Now thats a fine specimen of a cat right there!

that wouldn't work the thing that makes standing on lego painful is the surprise of standing on a lego. i could do this walk easy boy
>>6344266
i saw a bunch of this stuff in hong kong, is it real lego with a name change or just bootleg?
>>6344394
No, it's bootleg. Surprisingly good quality aside from the minifigs though
>>6344383
cheating a bit cause its megabloks
>>6344383
I only weighed about 115 pounds at the time, so I wouldn't have been able to knock out anyone. I have a neurological condition that makes it difficult to eat. I was nothing but skin and bone at the time. That's why I was shoplifting... I thought I was going to drop dead any moment from starvation, so I decided to have a little fun before I died by going on a shoplifting spree.
>>6344397
wow cause i saw some the batman lego sets like that like clayface
>>6344400
AH, damn dude, I was being an ass with my response and now I feel bad. Sucks that life hit you in such a way. That condition wouldnt happen to be the same one that that skeleton goth girl on youtube has, would it? Apparently thats why shes so thin, although they (her parents, mostly) claim for her its a form of autism. To me, that sounds a LOT heavier than just being on the spectrum.
Hope lifes treating you a LITTLE better, at least my man.
>>6344408
I think that goth chick is anorexic. She thinks she looks fat, so she avoids eating, whereas I know I'm skinny and want to eat but can't. It's really not that big of deal for me anymore. I've been dealing with this condition for 15 years now, so I have had plenty of time to adjust to it. Thanks for the concern though.
White space man got jealous of Pete and Yve having fun toys, so I made him his own ship
>>6344340
only if it's not too much trouble anon, i'm mostly proceeding with the concept rather than the full details
>>6344263
Union benefits.
I mean there must be some sort of Criminals Union in Lego City. It would explain why there are so many criminals running around, why prisons can't seem to hold them and why they all ware similar clothes.
>>6344399
nice pussy
How's your current Lego collection going? Also ask a guy who got all the Wave 1 Combo Powers anything.
>>6344477
How many bags did you have to buy?
>>6344477
How does it feel to be literally the only person that likes nexo knights?
>>6344477
Those blindbags are some of the most stupid shit LEGO has put out.
But I have to say I really dig some of those designs, especially the throwbacks to classic medieval themes like the Green wolf, White Bull and red bat-shield.
>>6344480
Plenty of people like nexo knights
>>6344480
Hey I love them as well!
>>6344477
i had a huge set millenium falcon the Black Pearl, some lone ranger sets stuff was cool, but i had to move and i didn't have the space so i sold it to my sister for her kids which i regret
so i have started again i have 3 lego batman sets on layaway and im think about getting that new ship from pirates
Okay rate my 23 piece UNSC Frigate, the Shennadoah
>tfw bought Leia keychain from S@H and got the R3 polybag
I even had enough VIP points to get 5€ off so the shipping wasn't that bad. I don't own single Leia fig so it works out too
OK, how in the FUCK do I save edits to a wanted list now on bricklink?
I fucking swear, I take a break for a couple weeks and come back and the fucking sites unusable.
>>6344626
Step one: calm down and stop spazzing out
Step two: explain your problem in greater detail, because want lists are easy to use
>>6344626
Make your edit and a little blue button pops up in the lower right-hand corner.
>>6343727
Cheaper and more colors? And just in more sets so people that build physically have them
Also if you're simulating a humanoid thing then you don't need more than one axis of movement for knees and elbows
>>6343985
>I have no studs but I must brick
>>6344433
That looks cool. Nice wings.
>>6343942
>>6344696

>>6344636
Sorry. It just seems like I step away from BL for a little bit, come back and they make the site even more fucking unusable than it was before. Wish to god someone would make some firefox plugins to change the site back to its old format.
Miss having all the colors that a piece comes in available under its picture in the main search list. Made it very easy to find the one off "HTF - RARE COLOR!" pieces.
>>6344643
When I clicked on the quantity box next to my piece and input a number, nothing popped up. Ended up having to select the piece and hit the quantity edit button to do it. Bet adblock+ is fucking me again....
>>6344832

Can I get a recommendation of some storage containers for my pieces? I have an absurd amount (probably about 20,000) and need to organize them.

Look on Amazon for drawer organizers.
Check local hardware stores.
I've got pretty much a wall of this kind of thing and it works pretty well.

>>6343709
I saw something like this once with the series 13 cmfs. I was surprised they even kept them on the pegs. I didn't know if they'd just end up throwing them out, so I considered it, but decided against it. The only pieces I found useful was the carpenter's board, and even that... eh. What kind of faggot just opens the bags in the store instead of feeling them though? Did they think the cashier would accept it at the register like that? If you're going to steal them, at least have the decency to leave the rest untouched.

The same kind of person who shops at Walmart.
I'm getting the Architecture Studio soon (It's too expensive, I know, it's fine) and I hope I'll have something to show you guys soon.
So far all I have are some random minifigs, a few Microfighters and both Episode VII battle packs. I feel like a kid again with lego now being sold in my town.

This has got to be like the greatest Star Wars sets in ages, right?
I mean, to get 4 named characters, all with great prints and one brand new one, for 15 bucks is amazing. I don't know why they did it but I'm grateful for it.
>>6345061
I'm almost expecting everyone and their mother to scalp a truckload and then try to sell the figs for crazy profit.
Only thing I'm worried is that will the price for battle packs rise for Europe as well. They've been 17€ here for a good while, and I don't know if I could justify paying 20€+ for one.
>>6345061
All we need is Zuckuss now.
Cmon lego, or better yet, china. I aint picky.
>>6345061
Between this set and the cheap Cloud City Carbonite Cooler with da bobbs, I kind of wish I was into Star Wars Legos.
Oh, how different my life could have been if I had picked up that first-gen Slave 1 at Target in 1999, but I was in college and didn't need more Legos at the time.
>>6345061
WHy they did it?
Because next we will get Zuccus in some VERY expensive medicore set.
SO everyone will have to GET IT.
I like this pack anyway because more aliens, nt specified torsos = cool shit
>>6345061
My only beef is that Dengar is already in a set that is still on shelves.
Does anyone know of good suave as fuck minifig head? Yellow one, preferably.
>>6344976
thanks anon
I can't decide which is better, so here is a pic of previous version.
>>6345033
not sure how to describe it. I made a huge pile, then started subdividing it in basic ways - plates, bricks, slope parts, others - and kept going until I had categories small enough that I could look through them easily. It ended up kind of chaotic and dependent on the size of drawers I'm using, for instance I've got separate places for the 45-degree slopes, 1x2, 2x2, 1x2inverted and so on, but all my 1x4 and 2x4 parts are mixed in one huge flat tray.

Six wide with jumper plates and tiles is my preferred method, but it all comes down to whether or not you use regular car doors because their legs will need that extra bit of space.

Not really, it mostly just pushes pieces around and only scoops up about half of them. Perhaps a new version could be engineered with some kind of flywheel that rotated the drum UPWARD as you pushed forward.
>>6345165
Seems like it would do just fine with most bricks as long as they aren't built into anything too big. Mostly I imagine it would suck with smaller pieces, especially on carpets, but no shocker there.

Is there any way to connect the heads of technic figs to system or technic?
So I had some ideas for alternate models of some this year's Nexo Knights sets to go along with pic-related:
>Twin Jouster/Lance vs. Lightning - Mix together into a "White Knight Mech" of sorts, using one of the lances from the Jouster as the main weapon. Size would be somewhere between the Battle Suits and King's Mech.
>Lock and Roller/Three Brothers - Mashed together into what would basically be a midget version of the Stone Colossus. Would probably be more posable than the actual Colossus, at least.
>Rumble Maker - Becomes a drill tank, resembling a cross between the Thunder Driller from Power Miners and the Diamond Job from Ultra Agents.
>Bot-Drop Dragon - Probably scaled up and turned into a dragon-styled VTOL. Could act as a sibling to pic-related.
>Stone Colossus/Jestro's HQ - Mixed together into a giant, walking cathedral, with the wheel pieces from the HQ as feet. An anti-Fortrex, if you will.
Feel free to steal these ideas if you want.

Because Fire, Police and Construction are the perennial themes that aren't going away, and Lego needs to shake it up with something outside the city limits once a year. We have plenty of "normal" City stuff all the time, like the bus stop, transport plane, or Fun At The Beach.

Articles talking about how great it is that a woman "finally" gets a role, and she ends up with like three minutes of screen time, or you dont see her face (that poor african chick that had to play Maz wasnt too happy about that if I remember right.) or better yet, she dies in the first twenty minutes of the movie.

I'm kind of disappointed they don't look very different at all from regular AT-AT's. Not at all like the Empire Strikes Back. Oh, and she'll probably be taking them down by herself with Starkiller-level force abilities and her lightsaber.
>>6345368
This one's kind of cool actually. I'd rather finally see B-Wings in action on screen though.
No Luke to be seen anywhere, so he probably doesn't get much action afterall, even though there's probably a forthcoming set of him vs Kylo Ren and the Knights of Ren, it doens't look like he and Rey will be going on a galaxy-wide adventure to casino planets where he warns her of hives of scum and villainy and so on afterall. My hype and hope has died a little more.

Don't limit him. Another option is to become best friends with Walter Elias Disney or whoever is making the next Star Wars and convince them to change the entire thing. He even has options in this situation! He could build a sweet gray box with his lego collection and inspire the Star Wars Company to use it and meet the big wigs that way. The design department on these new movies suck. All the new aliens suck. All the new ships are either way too derivative or have no distinctive shape to them. The prequels took inspiration from classic ships. Jedi Starfighters are clearly inspired by TIE Interceptors, ARC Fighters are clearly inspired by X-Wings, but those both did things that made them their own. Rather than than the silhouette ever so slightly. On top of that they introduced new ships that were gorgeous like the Naboo fighter.
The prequels were probably worse movies on an objective level, but they offer so much more visually that in the end I'll probably enjoy watching them over the sequels any day. TFA and Rogue One have totally botched two of the major, albeit more arbitrary, things that makes Star Wars so much fun.

Oh is that why nobody can draw them off the top of their head, or even visualize them?
I haven't been too much into Lego for a while, has there been anything similar to Mixels recently?
>>6346972
Jedi starfighters and ARC fighters arnt too hard to remember desu. Ones a pointy A wing that ObiWan fought Jango in and the other is just a weird Xwing
>>6346978
see here's the problem, that anon meant the starfighter thing that was in the beginning of Ep3 with the foldy wings, not the usual jedi starfighter. there are unique ships but they have no identity or staying power, like the naboo fighter, the shiny padme ship or anything in Ep2 that wasn't the slave 1. the ships are "creative" but are incredibly forgettable
>>6346978
"Jedi Starfighter" is probably referring to the ones from Episode 3 that look more like Interceptors.
>>6346975
They made tiny color sets. We kinda didn't hate them. It's not mixels, but they are cute.
>>6346966
I agree with you on some level. But i personally didn't like how the prequels ships often looked a lot more advanced than their future counterparts of the old movies. I liked the grimy boxy industrial feel of those.
New ship designs are ok and in line with the universe for the most part, but nothing to completely fall in love with. Especially lolmao deathstar was boring as shit.
>>6346969
starwars was always a fairytale with shiny sci-fi bells and whistles stuck onto it to make it feel new and worthwhile. Those sci-fi bells and whistles were done very well though and made the series an all-time classic.
While there are themes there if you look for it, the main appeal of the series was never it's intellectual depth.
I do disagree with the anon though. While i cum buckets everytime i see the whole podracing sequence (designs, pacing, sound are all fucking excellent and it holds up incredibly well to this day. Feels like a completely different movie than the rest of the three prequels and is imho the only redeeming factor of them all) The podracers had this nice mix of early 20th century racecars and futuristic industrial design.
But he prequels dropped the ball so hard on every other aspect outside of individual ship, set and costume designs that sitting through them is considered an achievement for me.
Luckily i can just play that awesome racinggame by lucasarts.
>>6346972
Maybe i'm just a fucking nerd, but Jedi Starfighters have a pretty iconic shape for me even if they aren't necessarily my favourite. Don't remember the ARC fighters.
>>6346980
Oh the one thats like a TIE fucked a Jedi Starfighter, ok
>>6346983
you're spot on that the podracers are incredibly iconic, and people will immediatley remeber them, but I guarantee you that only a quarter of people will know what a jedi starfighter is and only a quarter of them will know which one you mean. and absolutely .00001% of people know the ARC fighters (I can't even visualize them myself)
>>6346986
I'm sure the LA-AT "Clone Gunships" are a lot more iconic.
>>6346983
>New ship designs are ok and in line with the universe for the most part, but nothing to completely fall in love with
I adore the imperial tank from Rogue One
>>6346989
Ah yes I have the set and for some reason also really like it. Ugly in the best way. Like where some prequel ships were very heavily stylized this one is expertly designed to look like nobody really gave a shit. As a set it's just fun to modify, gave it four seats and interior and stuff but removed most guns.
Haven't even seen the movie yet so i can't really judge it from how it was portrayed in the movie.
After a quick google it looks more black/darkray than lightgray much like they did with Kylo's shuttle thing, is that right?
>>6346986
I-I know what an ARC-Fighter looks like...
>>6346999
it's fairly accurate to the screen and it's in a good scene, except for one detail: in the movie it has tank treads. apparently the decision to give it treads instead of it hovering was made after they sent the art to LEGO
what's cool though is that Rebels Season 4 has the hovertank variant show up, so both the tread model and the hover model exist in the SW universe. little trivia for you there
>>6346940

>>6347004
huh, that's odd.
I know they try to be as secretive as they can with these movies, but the size of marketing Lego did for these sets to have models either being a completely different colour or having a a title of the set make no sense is pretty wacky.
I was actually thinking of giving mine the tracks of my volcano crawler at some point strangely enough.
>>6347011
Yeah that bothered me too. So i put the spare hollow stud on it so it looks like intentional asymmetric greebling kinda sorta.

I had a lot of fun modifying mine. Definitely a good design, for a legitimate grey brick.

>>6347030
Pretty sure you can get 100% trans-clear and trans-colored minifigs on Ali.
>>6346980
I feel like most Star Wars fans remember them. Might just be generational though. If you're referring to the general mass than they're only going to know the X-Wings, TIE Fighters, AT-ATs, AT-STs, and the Millennium Falcon but that doesn't change the fact, in my eyes anyway, that and A-Wings, B-Wings, Y-Wings are greatly designed ships as well.
>>6347039
people know the Wings, but not the prequel ships. the prequel ships are novel, and you could argue creative, but not especially good. many of them look less like spaceships and more like flying speed racer cars. the lack of greebling on almost every single one of them didn't do them any favors
>>6347021
damn, nice job

>planning on taking off the prints if I can.
It'll be easy. A lot of those prints rub off if you look at them too hard.
Just use one of these eraser sticks. I cut a half-inch section with a 45 degree angle using a Sword of Exact Zero and use the angled tip to erase. It works better than a straight tip because it's easier to hold at an angle.
Currently struggling to make a transformer out of the Speed Champions Bugatti.

Star Wars is not sci-fi, it's a space opera.
There's no such thing as a science-fiction fantasy, wtf.
I have a question for lego general.
I was inspired to get back into lego recently in order to realize my childhood dream of making a giant martian city for the "Life on mars" theme. My question is, how should I go about hoarding the unique pieces to that theme? There was a lot of really weird parts and colors very strict to that theme and I don't feel like just buying all the tube hangers on ebay is the best option.
Same goes with minifigs, anyway to armybuild those for vaguely cheap? Is there any lego buy/sell/trade group I could go to and ask if anyone has lots of those particular pieces/figures?
And yeah I'm already using bricklink but I'd like to know if there's any other options.

It's nice but it overuses the crumbly effect.
That's a big problem with a lot of castle builders though, they try to make everything look run down and gritty.
>>6347499
Nothing on that picture looks "run down".
>>6347509
I didn't say it did.
I was saying the crumbly stone effect is overused, often because loads of castle builders want to make things look really worn and gritty.
>>6347221
>Does Lego help with replacing broken and misprinted pieces from older sets? I have quite a few unopen boxes that i'm kinda afraid theres something up.
If the set's no longer currently in production, you're out of luck. They don't offer any support for old sets. Your only hope is if that the piece(s) you need replaced is still being produced for current sets, in which case you can probably explain the problem and get them to replace the part(s) by entering the request as if you needed replacement parts from the in-production sets.
>>6347515
My bad then.
>loads of castle builders want to make things look really worn and gritty.
I think that's an issue with the idea a lot of people have about how things looked in medieval times in general.
And as far as run down things are concerned I think this looks great.
>>6347499
>the crumbly effect.
I know what you're talking about, but they don't actually use that anywhere in that pic. The closest is the stone chimneys, but they look well-maintained.
Pic related is crumbly.

>>6346983
Just to give you guys an idea, the art direction for the prequels (ships, costumes, aesthetic, etc.) was based significantly around Obi-wans comment in a new hope where he describes the lightsaber as an elegant weapon for a more civilized age. This civilized age of course being when the jedi council was in full force. That is why many of the designs in the prequels have more curves and subjectively "elegance" to them rather than the more industrial designs that were seen in the original trilogy. Furthermore, a cool aspect in my opinion is that you can trace the designs from the prequels to the OT, jedi interceptors clearly are predecessors of the tie interceptors, Arc-170s will transition to x-wings, etc. For me personally the designs stick out well in my head because I am a bit of a star wars fanatic, but to the average movie-goer they may be a bit forgettable not because of their poor design but simply because of their more limited role in the movies. X-wings and ties became centerpieces wheras arc-170s, v-wings, etc. were cgi background pieces that just added noise to space battles.
Anyways, I hope that clears it up a bit for you guys.
