These arrived yesterday in the mail. Ponda Baba is a 10/10 figure. I recommend buying him now while you can still hope to get him at the $20-30 range. I ended up paying $30 to some ebay scalper. I have zero hope in seeing this wave at retail or at least not being able to get Ponda or Fett.

Heh, sorry, was away so missed this reply.

>Forbes saying that Hasbro is trying to "win back" fans with 40th anniversary figures isn't proof?
The article (which is an opinion piece btw) says they're trying to win back "collectors." Though they're always the most vocal (like yourself), in terms of actual market share collectors are a tiny proportion of sales. Of course Hasbro is going to try and do more to generate sales, that's what businesses do, but weaker sales among collectors is easily offset by strong general market sales.

>How many of those waves have you seen in stores?
Actually saw all of them (though never a Revan, just his wave, dangit). And again, back to my main point, if the line were "killed" there wouldn't be any successor waves at all.

>FA and RO figures clogging pegs
But I thought TFA killed the line! How could there be RO figures... ;)

>Do you work for Disney anon? Or Hasbro? Why is Hasbro trying to win back fans with 40th?
No to both, but I do own considerable stock in both and I keep tabs on my investments. And again, like any good business Hasbro is looking to generate more sales. As you're so fond of googling Forbes articles, google what I've said about Hasbro's earnings and you'll see it's true.

>autism
>fag
Really don't see how anything I said warrants such name-calling. I didn't personally attack you in any way, simply provided facts that were counter to what you were claiming. If this is how you argue then I don't really see the point of replying further to you.

>>6333921
>contributor article
Forbes runs random articles on anything, being hosted on Forbes doesn't means it's true. The contributor of this article isn't a market analyst and is only offering opinions. Note he starts his third paragraph with "the toys sold well nonetheless."

>>6333931
>second line
>"anecdotal evidence"
Again, I never said Hasbro was doing things perfect. But again, anecdotes of doom aren't being reflected in Hasbro's earnings.
>>
>>6340544

>Of course Hasbro is going to try and do more to generate sales, that's what businesses do, but weaker sales among collectors is easily offset by strong general market sales.

General market would be the stores themselves, which are not buying more. They bought product from Hasbro that they cannot move, because they anticipate Star Wars to be a big seller. Walmart is still trying to unload RO Black Series that they bought too much of.

>Actually saw all of them (though never a Revan, just his wave, dangit).

Was it Walmart? Target? Or a smaller store? I don't know anyone who ever saw the Revan wave at a big retail store. I only really heard of him at Game Stop.

>And again, back to my main point, if the line were "killed" there wouldn't be any successor waves at all.

The peg warmers wave after wave would beg to differ. How many Finns and Reys have you been buying?

>But I thought TFA killed the line! How could there be RO figures... ;)

Simple by still having Xuvios on shelves almost two years later along with Finns, Reys and Xuvios Old Leias. When's the last time you saw a Rey? I saw her yesterday at Walmart. When did you last see Old Leia? I saw 20 of her, the same 20 of her that I've seen for about 3 months now at Walmart.

>No to both, but I do own considerable stock in both and I keep tabs on my investments. And again, like any good business Hasbro is looking to generate more sales. As you're so fond of googling Forbes articles, google what I've said about Hasbro's earnings and you'll see it's true.

Purely based on product sold to businesses and toy dealers who all took financial hits over FA and RO products. When's the last time you saw Star Wars figures marked down? I've seen Toys R US clearencing FA figures non-stop. THEY STILL HAVE FORCE AWAKENS FIGURES! Hasbro can't just endlessly expect to put toys on shelves that won't sell and have companies keep purchasing them.
>>
>>6340544

>autism

>Really don't see how anything I said warrants such name-calling. I didn't personally attack you in any way,

You said:

>you're welcome to your thoughts and opinions about how things should change,

I said:

>That's what I'm doing anon.

You then proceeded to conplain about how others shouldn't have opinions counter to yours based on their own experience and information:

>but you should stop using stories you read elsewhere to draw conclusions about sales that just aren't correct.

I responded:

>I'm relying on my own personal experience as a collector and seller. Your autism betrays you again anon.

You by very definition were being autistic.

>simply provided facts that were counter to what you were claiming.

No you're being a hypocrite who wants things both ways.

>If this is how you argue then I don't really see the point of replying further to you.

Yet you waited days and replied anyway.
>>
>tfw I scalped the X-Wing luke 40th anniversary for $160
Feels good.
>>
>>6340646
Jesus. I haven't even seen one in person but doubt I'd need one that bad since they would likely never make an X-Wing or another Tie Fighter in that scale. Black Series is just impractical for vehicles.
>>
>>6340630
>>6340645
Was Target that I saw all subsequent Black Series waves at.

Never actually seen an Old Leia in-store before, but I don't go to Walmart very often (have to drive past two Targets before I get to a Walmart, so no real reason to).

And I've never not seen Star Wars toys go on clearance before, seriously Star Wars toys always go on clearance. The big Legacy Millenium Falcon from 2008 I got for $30, big AT-AT from 2010, got three at $50 ea . If you really want to point to something "killing the line," look to The Phantom Menace 3D movie line. 5 years later and you can still find it in some big stores (saw a peg of them at Walmart last year), and it's all over discount stores. Not saying Zuvio and Co. won't reach the same level of aged notoriety, but we've seen bad toys stick around before, and we've seen good toys get clearanced out before.

For the millionth time, I'm not saying that Hasbro is doing everything right by any means, I'm just saying that it's not the death of the line, Black Series or any series.

>still falling back on empty name-calling
Again, I just don't get it. And yeah, I replied because I figured you'd realize getting into name-calling over this stuff is pretty dumb. Obviously I was over optimistic. :)

Gonna agree to disagree with you, as you seem intent on taking offense no matter what and that's never a productive discussion. Peace out and enjoy collecting.
>>
Where is everyone getting their Death Squad Commander?
>>
>>6340748
I got mine at Walmart. They had a Jawa too. Based off what I saw online they are putting in two Death Squad Commanders and two Jawas per case. I must have got whatever was left over.
>>
>>6340723

Oh, look, you replied when you tried to pretend you were done.

>Was Target that I saw all subsequent Black Series waves at.

And how many peg warmers have you seen?

>And I've never not seen Star Wars toys go on clearance before, seriously Star Wars toys always go on clearance.

There's people getting new 40th clearenced at retail. I'm nearly 30 and been with the line forever. I've never seen displays and shelves filled with 20 of the same figure and watching them never sell for month after month. I've never seen the distribution this screwed up.

>The big Legacy Millenium Falcon from 2008 I got for $30, big AT-AT from 2010, got three at $50 ea .

Yes, yes. Your personal anecdotal evidence some how overrides my personal anecdotal evidence.

> If you really want to point to something "killing the line," look to The Phantom Menace 3D movie line. 5 years later and you can still find it in some big stores (saw a peg of them at Walmart last year), and it's all over discount stores.

Haven't seen em in 2 years. Do you live in Europe or Canada or some small town?

>Not saying Zuvio and Co. won't reach the same level of aged notoriety, but we've seen bad toys stick around before, and we've seen good toys get clearanced out before.

Except we keep getting the same peg warmers reissued in new cases. That's a major complaint about the distribution.

>For the millionth time, I'm not saying that Hasbro is doing everything right by any means, I'm just saying that it's not the death of the line, Black Series or any series.

How many new figures are in 40th versues re-releases?

>Obviously I was over optimistic. :)

Maybe your mom will comfort you.

>Gonna agree to disagree with you, as you seem intent on taking offense no matter what and that's never a productive

You've done nothing but complain and try to force your opinion then cry about it.

Walgreens was clearencing new 40th btw. Target supposedly did the same. I guess distribution must be good?
>>
>>6340748
I haven't seen one yet. I'm hoping to get a few at retail. I haven't seen any 40th at my Walmart yet, but saw Vader and Obi-Wan at Game Stop.
>>
>>6340838
Speak for yourself. I can't even find a Leia.
>>
>>6340498
Why would you pay that much for a such a shit figure of such a fucking two bit character.
>>
>>6340938
I wouldn't worry about Leia. Stores have been getting single packs on her. Jeditemplearchives was reporting that some stores accidentally clearenced the first wave of 40th or never even got it because of a screw up on case numbers.
>>
>>6340941
I wanted it. So I bought it, considering I haven't seen it at retail and don't expect to. It's also a re-pop of a $90 figure so it seemed fair enough.
>>
have they ever made a glow in the dark storm or clone trooper toy?
>>

>>
>>6340838

>>

I think Vader and Leia are both in single packed cases. Might be why they're more plentiful. The Royal Guard was available for about three minutes before they were all bought up. I have little hope in seeing it in the wild.
>>
>>6341783
Also people have supposedly found the Royal Guard at Target.
>>
>>6340938
I'd trade for Han. I find Leia everywhere, but Han is nowhere to be found.

Look CC we don't want trips nor massive discussions/blocks of text. Just drop it. We are just here for the toys. Go somewhere else if you want to argue with people.

UK
So TRU confirmed they did have to recall all their TBS 6" figures because the company/factory had been producing fakes and these had entered mass retail just like UK collectors have said for a long time now.
This included the 40th wave for some reason but not the Hovertank Pilot exclusive. I picked him up because he was reduced down to £18 which is fair.

They had no idea when they were going to get anything more in suggesting possibly September! Fuck.
I was hoping to pick up Wave 2 but now I'm worried that TRU will just skip that and then go for the FF Wave.

Also UK I heard was getting fucked on Wave 2 with them being pushed back on their release for some odd reason. I'm unaware if it had to do with fakes or what exactly.

Scene specific Old Solo and Old Lady Leia aren't hot sellers. Nobody but an adult collector cares about Leia figures and most collectors find an old lady version of her unappealing.

You're more likely to see Sand People figures on the shelves than Pona Baba and prototype Boba Fett or Sand Troopers.

The heads were both on pretty tight. I tried shooting a blow dryer into the space between the neck and head, and I think that helped. Even then, I still felt like I was going to rip the joint out of the neck before rather than the head off of the ball. So be careful. I was able to sort of work Leias head off, while Jyns I had to just go for it.

-3.75" wave due sometime near Force Friday along with TFA Luke and his version of the ERG plus some other random blue x-wing pilot gal.
-6" Regular version on Force Friday Wave 1 along with TFA Luke, Resistance Rey, Vader, Stormtrooper
-6" Exclusive Throne version.

-likely a 5poa one as well but who cares about that.

The Lego figure is underwhelming but it's hard to convey in Lego form, hopefully in Live action it's okay and the figures look cool.

I didn't want to believe it would be true, but several of my local Targets all have two full pegs of 40th Leia, and no other 40th figures in sight. Every single one has crisp cards, but crushed plastic.
>>
>>6349409
I really like the new Leia, but there's a ton of bullshit with distribution on wave 1. Leia is only showing up because they released her in a single case of just her. I think wave 2 is technically supposed to drop at the beginning of June, so we may start seeing the next wave. Wave 1 though supposedly got mislabeled under the same case number as Rogue One at Target, so stores weren't ordering them.

What's the best roughly 6" scale "high end" Darth Vader? There's been like three different Figuarts and I don't know which is the best. Then there's the Mafex, but Mafex has spotty QC. There's the model kit but I don't know how poseable it is.

The new 40th Vader from the Black Series is excellent and easily obtained. It's probably the best all around Vader figure at the moment.
I have the Figuarts too, which is nice but has some issues with scale, both within the figure itself and between other figures even in the figuarts line.
Mafex is very nice, more accessories than Hasbro but may be harder to get a hold of.
You're spoiled for choice, really.
>>
>>6350516
>Black Series
>better than figuarts or mafex
Are you retarded?
>>
>>6350527
We're talking about Vader here.

The 40th Anniversary Black Series Vader is hands down the best release of the character.
>>
>>6350470
The mafex figures are my first choice since the Vaders don't seem to have as huge QC issues as most Mafex figures, probably best scale to other figures and basically every costume option is available.

Figuarts is too small, new Figuarts doesn't look that much better or different. First Black Series has a shit helmet, 40th Black Series is ok but unless it comes singlepacked without the giant stand thing there is no point to paying 40$ for a Hasbro figure.
I am kind of attracted by the Revoltech as well. The cape looks weird but the stylization of the helmet seems alright.
Model kit is pretty good except for the shell cape but most are autistic about building something and painting a couple dots.
Disneys dolls are sadly 10 inch scale.
I guess that was really everything.

Bollocks. Buy a statue or a drawing if you're that hung up over it looking "accurate". The whole point of articulated figures is, you know, they're articulated. If you half-arse the articulation then why even bother?

And that's before we even begin on the substandard plastic, gummy molding, pointless eye "variant", price-boosting cardboard cutout and shitty fabric cloth.

Hasbronies are the worst.

Also, I love how all the photos showing how "great" the figure is are heavily photoshopped.

>Buy a statue or a drawing if you're that hung up over it looking "accurate"
Again, if it being accurate isn't important, why are you even getting a figure of a specific character?

Also, it's not like the inaccuracies of the other figures are there because otherwise it'd be impossible for them to be well articulated. It's just laziness/lack of attention to detail.
>>
>>6351055
>Again, if it being accurate isn't important, why are you even getting a figure of a specific character?
Because it's immediately obvious who the character is in spite of minor inaccuracies, and it's a better, more functional toy than the more "accurate" alternative?

Who cares if a ridge on the helmet is one micrometer off from how it was on one particular prop out of the hundreds they will have gotten through in filming? I'd rather have a slightly off helmet and good articulation than a perfect helmet and shite articulation.

You know what's cool?
Toys being able to have great likeness and still have a lot of functional articulation.

Not everyone needs their Darth Vader to be able to suck his own dick.
Having a great looking toy that looks like it came out of the movie and still doing practically every pose from the movies is best option.

But we all know that you're only arguing that articulation should matter more than accuracy because you're just a shitty fanboy.

They just need to do realistic Rebels figures. They'd fly off the shelves if you could easily integrate them in with your other Star Wars figures. If they were smart they'd do that with the new Vintage Collection, however I don't think they will.

>>
>>6351135
I think Vader looks good but I think lightsaber wielders need double elbow joints. They suffer without them.

It's a pity LF tell Hasbro they can't, allegedly.
>>
>>6351137
There's still room to make them though even if you repacked the TFA and RO figures again.
11 repacks
11/24 (rumoured minimum)

12 with Aphra
12/24

You've got the Rebel sculpts already so it's not a huge undertaking.
How many TLJ figures do you think we'll get?

I'm going to say 5:
TFA Resistance Rey, Leia, Kylo, Phasma, Poe at the least.
Maybe 3 of the new guys (Del Toro, Trans and asian.)
That's 8 more.

20/24

You still have spaces.

>>
>>6351146
I think we'll get quite a few TLJ figures because Disney and Hasbro will want those new figures for the movie out. It helps Disney shill their movie and the movie advertises new toys for Hasbro.

We'll get Luke and Snoke and probably another Finn and Leia, along with the new executioner Stormtroopers and probably some other characters from the film such as those in the new Vanity Fair pics.
>>
>>6351200

Posted this in wrong thread.

What would you say the absolute best 6" figure is?
I think its either MAFEX Vader or Figuarts Windu.
>>
>>6351873
That would look pretty spooky actually. Could be some sort of force assassin.
>>
Why is it so hard to get a fucking Stormtrooper? All the Black series Stormtroopers are being scalped to shit, and they are rare anyway. Meanwhile, you can easily buy 200 Leias or Cassians if you wanted for no cost at all. Why doesn't Hasbro just constantly produce Stormtroopers and back them in every wave? Never ever have stormtroopers been the shelfwarmer.
>>
I went to a random TRU yesterday since I was in the area and they had half their Cassian, Rey, and Jyn's for $8 in the clearance section, then had four pegs full of them for $19.99. What a mess.

>>
>>6352202
They want you to buy the model kit. That thing has the same price anyway.
>>
>>6352238
When I ordered my Navy Troopers I saw the Royal Guards listed for 40€ (5€ more than normal) on the actionfigure shop so I thought the seller was dirty for doing this and I would definitely have luck and could find them elsewhere for normal.

TRU.de only has Vader pack and Finn/Rey/Cassian/Jyn/Cassian,Jyn,Deathtrooper 3Pack.
Amazon.de ordered black series figures as they were released for a year and stopped getting anything new since Legacy Vader, Chirrut and Baze.
All other shops only sell full cases and I don't want a single Tusken, Qui-Gon, Krennic or anyone and reselling those figures probably ends with me paying more than 40€ for the Guard.
The fucking shop from the beginning upped the price to 60€, Royal Guards are more expensive than his Darth Revans fucking bullshit.

I fucking hate Europe. With these prices I might as well buy a Figuarts or Mafex when they make one.

Jaina is also not Comic-Con exclusive and will not be that expensive. Revans sell for 80$ max.

No idea about exact american distribution but in Europe you find shops with him for 60€ tops and if you don't like that you can buy an entire case for 180€, sell Obi-Wan & Leia for 30€ each and the other 3 figures for 40-50€ each and you basically get him for free +/- sellers fees if there are any. And if it's possible to buy cases in Europe I wager it's possible to buy cases in the US.
>>
>>6352325
>Jaina is also not Comic-Con exclusive and will not be that expensive. Revans sell for 80$ max.

You think $80 for a $20 figure is acceptable?

>>6352238

>Existing Black series figure has solid under robe and can't sit. Plus face is garbage.
>Figuarts would never do him because they don't do soft goods, and there is no way you could acceptably do his robe in plastic.

I'd guess an updated Black series with an allcloth robe would be the best we could hope for.
>>
>>6352352
I think 80$ is less than 100 and the general price is 60$ so you compare it with that and you still don't pay that price but do my case scalping technique because shitty distribution forces you to do that.

I live in Europe, fogures are 35€ retail and rare figures the same price as Japanese imports. Hell, model kit figures are cheaper than used Black Series figures so I mostly collect those. I was ready to blow 50€ on Revan and couldn't believe it when I found that shop that sold entire cases. I could have gotten my Revan for free if I hadn't decided on opening Obi-Wan on the fly. That was my best buying experience in years.
>>
>>6352378
Mafex seems like an allright option and possibility but with their schedule he would need to be in a new movie.
>>
>>6351463

A Wal-mart I check often had 4 last time I checked, and when I bought mine I saw 3. Your best bet is just to check a bunch of the stores.

And with that, Revan is pretty damn "done." I had the Rickhor dude on eBay do some custom stitching to one of his things to allow me to put in a bendy wire to the cape and hold, and I replaced the sash with a fabric one, and tattered both the new cape and sash accordingly.

I like my Revan mid-war. It's not the best it could have been, and someday I'll get my hands on another Revan and redo some of this work, but all around I'm pretty damn happy with how this turned out.

I still might make the end of the cape/boots/lower robe "muddy" sometime, but we'll see. I'm on the fence about it still.

I've been actually thinkin on that, maybe start with one of the unmasked kylos instead? If they're not too rare to use as custom bait, that is. Dye the head, sculpt the mask on top, do the rest in soft goods. Get a saber from somewhere.
>>
>>6352990
I looked into it earlier and I wondered if you could just print a 3d model of his mask and then glue it one.
I've found some 3d models already.
There are websites that can take 3d models and print them for you. I know a guy who would probably let me do it.

The problem would be the head and robes. I can't sew nor do I know anyone who can.

I'm tempted to try it though, see how it comes out.
>>
>>6353008
Sewing is not hard. Especially for something like the getup Nihilus has, it's all frayed so you don't gotta worry about hems and that sorta shit.

I'm not sure how to handle the hood, 6" is way too small to get some interfacing in there. I guess I'll figure that out as I go, plunked $10 on a kylo to start on this journey.
>>
>>6353094
What about some kind of tight fitting Styrofoam covered in cloth that connects to the head with the metal part of the mask of the middle?

The Krennic head looks fairly similar to Nihilus so I may use that for the final figure.

I may do one then if you are.

A thing I don't understand how nobody ever throws 3D printers into the mix. You could easily make parts with a 350-500$ machine and the ability to design in CAD.
>>
>>6354381
I've already considered it see:
>>6353008

It's a simple answer but logistically how. The lightsaber is a bit harder to do.
>>
>>6354385
There are also sites where people with 3d printers register and you can look up if anyone lives near you, you just have to pay and if nobody is near they ship it to you.

Lightsaber could be designed and printed as well, just make it compatible with a spare laser blade and paint it up.

I found some guy who made his own actionfigures with parts you need to assemble like the Bandai model kits and sold the files. The idea of 3D printing is basically without restrictions when you manage to finetune the printers settings and paint everything up.

Now you got me wondering, anon, are there really cheap printers now that can do the resolution for 6"? Last I had something printed it came out with that ribbed-stepped chunky texture and I spent as much time cleaning it up as I would if I just scratchbuilt the part.

I hit up the remnants bin and found some black linen. I can't tell if this guy's just wearing a gandalf-type belted robe of if he's got an ep-8 luke skywalker type thing going on.

Found the 40th Vader today at Meijer's for $35. He's really a fantastic figure. The sculpting and proportions are perfect and they also put on thr silver paint apps from ANH for the fake shine on the face, just like it was in the movie. The pack-in Early Bird Kit is much better than I thought it would be. It'a large plastic display with foot pegs all over it that you have to assemble. The carboard backing has different images on both sides allowing for customization. Really nice way to display your Black Series.

From what I have seen printers in the 350-500 range can print very smooth but you have to extensively fiddle with the settings, once or for every print, I don't really know since I just watched dozens of Youtube videos from some fags with well-advertised channels. Never saw tiny pieces made by these guys but seeing how smooth they get their stuff right after the print ended and how small some of their details are I would expect actionfigure parts to work well. Try going into a 3D printer forum and ask around, you should find help in getting the settings right. Biggest thing to keep in mind with tiny parts seems to be that you need to slow down the printtime or print a bigger thing at the same time or many smaller things so the plastic has time to cool down. I planned on buying a Wanhao i3 2.1 and do actionfigure and Lego figure accessories. Like I said, one guy is doing actionfigure model kits, I expect it to work, if not directly then with tweaking.

Nihilus looks like two sheets going from the shoulders and meeting somewhere before they reach the belt. Hasbro did kind of the same with their 3 inch fig but it looks asymetrical v.s. symetrical on your pic but I would think the game is only symetrical because of low resolution and the extreme darkness of the character. http://www.rebelscum.com/TACevoSithLegacy.asp
