1st for TIME FORCE
>>
>>6330064
I caved and bought Poisandra on eBay for like $40. Fuck it, she was my favorite character and now I don't have to check Walmart and leave disappointed every week for the next four months.
>>
>>6330182
Sucks when you have to resort to that, but she sold out really fast online and they're not likely to order more cases because the other packs aren't moving. I'd say this is a rare case in which paying a scalper is probably justified because finding one in store is a crapshoot and not worth the gas/effort.

I love her though, so you probably will too. Sure she's missing a lot of paint and her arm articulation sucks, but she's such a unique looking character and really stands out amongst all the testosterone.
>>
>>6330064
>Gimp suit bridezilla with a heart motif
What did Bandai mean by this?
>>
>>6330182

>>
>>6330270

Props to Bandai for actually making her though. It took some fan bitching to make it happen, but this is a character who never would've stood a chance in the past.

>>6330336
It's probably already gone.
>>
>>6330353
Definitely not, my Walmart is small-town as fuck and all the toys usually sit for months. They still have stuff from Samurai

They made Curio when he has a girly as fuck design
>>
>>6330730
Not a typical looking PR monster, but I wouldn't say girly.
>>
>>6333055
That post you responded to is the only reason I know that's a dude now. I don't watch that show so from the toy I assumed it was female. It's pretty feminine.
>>
What's the cheapest and most efficient way of getting the entire mmpr Legacy team at this point in time?
>>
>>6333055
The other poster probably said that because a whole bunch of people think Curio's Japanese counterpart is a girl for some reason. (Luckyeuro is androgynous as hell but I don't remember the show ever specifically stating he was a girl, although I did tap out around episode 38.) Since the generals are based on Wizard of Oz characters, he's meant to evoke the Scarecrow, hence the straw hair and floppy hat.
>>
>>6333074
You go to the store and buy them

But in collecting you usually have to pick between cheap and efficient.

Luckyeuro uses a young boy way of speaking but that's literally it. That image already posted along with her taking a female form twice whenever they became human is more then enough for me and the Japanese fans as well. They never had a problem with her gender.
>>
>>6333676
Never? I don't remember the episode you're citing (seems like solid enough proof, unless that's their way of saying Lucky is "gay" e.g. James from Team Rocket always taking a female disguise) but at least in the beginning there was furious debate over Luckyeuro's gender, with a lot of people citing the fact that they liked shoujo manga as proof that they were female. Shit, I guess my male friends who read Sailor Moon are girls too.

Irrelevant to Power Rangers in any case, since Curio is unequivocally male, just like Madame Odious is unequivocally female.

Japan is usually explicit about it when they want to make fun of a character for being gay, to it being their defining character trait. This was never the case with Lucky.

I only have a digital camera that I always leave at home. So I can't take any pictures on the go.
But at the Toys R Us in Laval, Quebec, Canada, there's at least 3 or 4 piled on the very top of the shelf, where spare boxes go. None placed officially with a price tag for now. The Power Ranger shelf is pretty bare so it's just a matter of time.

Grnrngr says that's incorrect and the waves are as listed in OP, though he didn't list White DT in wave 5 despite it being listed on his site.

I personally don't think White DT will be in wave 5. Every other wave but the movie is 5 figures with one doubled up, and doubling up on one of the Tommys makes enough sense to continue that trend. I think it's more likely wave 6 could be a clean-up wave of White DT, Crimson/Navy/Green NS, and Silver Space.

Looks like Barnes and Noble is starting to carry legacy stuff. They have the original red ranger helmet, dragonzord and legacy figures. They have MMPR red and green right now. If I didn't already have them I'd totally get them. I may still grab a pair to scalp because why the fuck not?
>>
>>6336111
They've been there for a while,I think my local one has a Saba they've been trying to sell for well over a year. Other PR items have gone fast though, morphers, figures, etc. Its a shame Bandai Japan gave up on the Figuarts line because there's definitely a market there; they could be selling new Ranger figarts there instead of just Legacy figures.

>Since Saban’s Power Rangers movie hit theaters, sales of Power Rangers toys have nearly doubled against 2016
Since late March, sales are nearly double what they were for the same period in 2016 (late March to May).

>And compared against 2016 to date, Power Rangers toy sales are up nearly 23%.
Toy sales for 2017 are up 23% compared to the same period in 2016 (January to May).

Which makes it sound like the movie really spiked sales. Pretty safe bet that the Ninja Steel toys weren't responsible.

Spring is always a low point in sales because there's nothing really new on the market (most spring wave stuff releases in the winter), so of course an additional line releasing in the spring would create a sales bump. 23% total increase won't make up for the abysmal box office though.

According to Bandai's annual report they made about $165 million last year off of Power Rangers (including Super Sentai). Even if it was a 23% increase for the entire year (movie toy sales will likely decline the second half of the year) that's less than a $40 million increase in sales. Some of that may be attributed to Ninja Steel getting a sales bump over the second season of Dino Charge, or Kyuranger being more popular than Zyuohger, but even if we assume the sales increase is purely from movie merch that still doesn't even recoop the costs of the film's budget and marketing. And mind you there's still production/manufacturing costs that need to be accounted for, so it's not even $40 mil of profit.

I drop these facts because I already see people clinging to this as hope for a sequel, but all it really does is show Bandai they can release more products or an additional line without oversaturating the market.
>>
>>6337975
People better start praying that it's a mega hit in Japan whenever it releases

the sequel all depends on saban being willing to back the movie, but if they did one, you run the risk of once again, it being the tommy oliver show (girl OR boy) and the film was great for the opposite reason.

the best, most likely result from this is that we get a season or two of PR that actually gives thought the the kids being people first, rangers second, which might work well with an adaptation of the newest sentai.

I will however, be surprised if they do a sequel in the same vein, for two or three weeks after release I kept seeing the "NOT MUH MORPHENOMENAL RANGERS CHEEZ WIZ!!!" attitude, now that the movie is gone from theaters, I am seeing it becoming much more "FINALLY, RANGERS WE LIKED!" so unless japan gets the idea of NOT REBOOTED ZHYURANGER!!! it's in the realms of Speed Racer and movies of similar type, failures at first, but gems after digestion.

I don't know why, but it seems like most customs in this fandom come out looking like shit. >Seeing Kibaranger next to zyu costumes always weirded me out and now they're shoving him right into one.

I feel like all the US merchandise of the Zyu suits with power coins on the chest eased us into the transition, with the badge on his vest; it was further refined in the 95 movie. And the fact that most US superteams used to a very mixed design aesthetic owing to their own differing origins; the Justice League,X-men, hell even Japanese based things like the Transformers had a very eclectic look. Kibaranger just looked like a souped up version of the Zyusuits to me, granted it helps that it didn't have the white vest of the other Dairanger and the schoolboy vest armor looked like a natural transition of the Dragonranger shield .

>>6341954
Yeah I agree. The only thing about White that struck me as off at the time was his belt buckle. Green's gloves and boots were already different from the others, and while White didn't have lips on his helmet, he still had a silver mouth plate, so it seemed to me like just another special 6th Ranger thing. The helmet was still animal themed, and being two colors didn't seem out of place to me since Kim's was as well. In terms of suit design they really couldn't have lucked out more than they did with Kiba. I can't see any of the proceeding sixths fitting in with the zyu team.

I get that, but even that movie did a poor job of making you care about them. Apart from shoving certain traits down your throat they didn't really do anything to make you care.

The Black Ranger was the only ranger I kinda gave a shit about. The others? forced.

And even if the movie did do a good job of making you care, it did everything else horribly.

If the movie made you not care about them, then the originals are a solid 2/10 because all 5 people were the same, all happy go lucky pinnacles of positivity.

Got a second Figuarts: SPD Red.

Here's a size comparison with an MG Gundam and a Legacy Ranger.

It's made of some really nice plastic compared to the Legacy and has quite a decent amount of accessories.

Some of the posing, like on the head, is a little limited, but the rest is great. I'll be using him as art reference for a Sentai-inspired game I'm working on, so I'm glad he can hold poses and what not.

I love her cause she's so unique. Paint apps are minimal, typical Bandai fair. She'll look really great if you fill in some of the missing details since Bandai does a really good job on the sculpting of their villains. Legs have decent articulation but arms are just cut shoulders. I think she's worth it.

They should get Shodo Vs figures. The entire team with 2 molds, and maybe a main villain and a minion villain. Of course more waves per series could be cool, but at min they could easily fill a wave of 10. 1 of each colour, 2 red, 2 minions, 1 main villain, possibly 6th team member. I get why they don't do more Figuarts, so I feel like this could be a good alternative.

Legacy Drakkon when?
>>
In kind of an odd move Japan is releasing an updated version of the original Dairenoh toy. It looks to have sculpted detail in place of stickers now, which seems like a stupid amount of work to put into an inferior toy when they could just release the Legacy version over there like they did with the Morpher and Dragon Dagger.

>>
Just read that, supposedly, the original 90's Megazord toy is going to be reissued. Anyone know anything about this?

>>6352050
The most notable thing about this is that it means the original molds are still viable, which means we could see reissues of other old DX figures. Which makes me wonder why they didn't just do more like this for Legacy instead of whole new molds.
>>
>>6352531
That's assuming this is true, which I'm hoping it is, but I have not yet found any info backing it up. Reissues of both the oriinal Megazord and the Draonzord would be absolute must-haves for me...

I mean you can technically combine them, but the manner in which this is accomplished looks dumb. I've always wanted to be able to combine the Thunderzord Assault Team with Dragonzord, and it's a shame Bandai couldn't have given us some way to use those as proper arms.

>>
>>6361458
1) they've been out of print for years
2) Only 2 were mass releases while the rest were exclusives/limited US releases
3) the US releases had MMPR packaging which some people prefer, especially since Kibaranger has a totally different box from the Zyuranger teams

On top of that, only Red has all the different forms of the Blaster and only Blue/Black/Yellow include the parts to form the Power Blaster. So there's reasons to buy duplicates or collect the whole team.
>>
>>6361458
New to the Figuarts line here.
Where are you seeing them for these prices?

Tried looking in HLJ, but they don't have anything there. :/
>>
>>6361299
Uh, because they're fucking awesome and unique?

Oh hey, samurais/ninjas again....whoopdee shit.

I mean, I can see why Saban passed on it, because they take Power Rangers way too seriously. Which is frankly stupid. No matter how serious you try to take this franchise, it's still campy as all fuck. people in spandex, fighting monster costumes, and giant robots.

That's why the sentai shows are better. They accept and EMBRACE the campiness. They have fun with it.

Everyone remember Power Rangers RPM? They made it an honest-to-god post-apocalyptic setting and gave it a really dark feel. But they still had the goofy-looking cartoony Go-Onger mechs.
>>
>>6361931
I'm guessing he's looking at the Figuarts retail prices, and not at actual stores. Because they've been sold out for months, a couple of them even for years.

Most Figuarts get DISGUSTING aftermarket prices, not just the sentai one

(Look up what the original Freeza Figuarts goes for. You'll want to puke)
>>
>>6362004
And they acknowledged the goofiness in RPM.
>>
>>6362004
Are you from America? People like the same old shit here. They just made Pirates of the Caribbean 5, even though they've all completely sucked since the second one. New ideas get crapped on and buried fast. If Saban could keep Power Rangers as dinosaurs forever, they would, because it's familiar and "safe." They can't, though. Ninjas are another "safe" theme that's proven popular in the past, so of course they'll pick that over something new and untested.

Another thing Americans hate is anything that's whimsical and forces you to use your imagination. That's why all superhero movies are brown and gray and always deathly serious. Americans strongly reject anything "silly" even as they flock to see movies based on goddamn comic books.
>>
>>6360757
I'm more interested as to why they skipped GoBusters...
>>
>>6363696
1) Kind of the same deal as ToQGer, they had a choice between dinosaurs and a more nebulous theme, so they went with the sure thing.

2) Go-Busters sold poorly in Japan (I'm not sure how much that would actually influence their choice, though)

3) Not enough stuff to sell over a two-year period (five Rangers, six Zords--seven if you count the frog)

4) (maybe) a lack of usable footage (lots of Go-Busters fights feature unmasked human characters, for example Enter)

I think number 3 might be the biggest factor, and it wouldn't even be a problem if not for the terms of Nick's stupid deal. Because they have to drag every show out over two years, though, it's better if they choose one with a ton of Rangers and mecha. This is why they will choose Kyuranger over Zyuohger for the next series, unless they choose to move the show to Netflix. If Netflix would pay for the minimum 32 episodes per year, we could go back to adapting every sentai series instead of picking and choosing, and we wouldn't have any more "Super" seasons which seem to consistently lose momentum in terms of sales.
>>
I'm going to be disappointed if we don't get any of Zyuohger's generals but at least if they skip to Kyuranger we'll get Scorpio which has a badass design.

How about the aux zords selling like shit for the past few years, does that excuse it?

Parents, who buy 80-90% of Power Rangers toys, were not willing to spend between $15 and $17 for a lump of plastic that does nothing on its own without the purchase of a separate $35 lump of plastic. If robot dinosaurs weren't selling at that price, there's no way the weird shit from Ninnin would.
>>
>>6367095
>aux zords selling like shit for the past few years
Got a source to back up that claim? If they were selling so poorly they wouldn't have gone through the trouble of making American exclusives or releasing all those repaints. The truth of the matter is that the Ninja Steel auxiliaries would have carried a lower price point than prior year's auxiliaries, and that wasn't good enough for the Jews at Bandai. It's nothing more than a shameless cash grab, just like expecting people to spend $100 buying the Legacy MMPRs again for personal weapons (which can't even combine).
>>
>>6367076
It's the SDCC version so I'm not sure if it'll be the same in the metallic releases. The sword itself is solid. Strong plastic not bendy in the slightest. To the point of you're not careful the thing could snap. Not easily mind you but it isn't as pliable as say Marvel Legends swords. The paint is good too. Not flakey at all. The SDCC one is chrome where the metallic one won't be so mine shines more than the other version will.

>>
>>6370391
Local comic and toy shops, cons...unless you live in the middle of nowhere, in which case you should move to where people are.

Also, it occurs to me I may have misunderstood the post I quoted--if they're talking about ALL their zords being worth that much in the aggregate, then that's different, but there's not a single zord that should be selling for that kind of money outside of some lunatic eBay seller setting a ridiculous Buy It Now.
>>
>>6370299
If you look at the Japanese zord releases, they're much better, larger versions. What happened is that Bandai America decided to make cheaper versions of those designs. Why? According to them, Megazords have a harder time selling in the US, and the US line has always been more focussed on the Ranger toys than the Megazords. They figure they have an easier time selling original Megazord molds of lesser quality than the Japanese versions which would sell for more money.

Sorry man, I'm a brittbong. I doubt we're in the same area.
For other Brittbongs though, they just released at The Entertainer.
>>
>>6376313
so I found them at https://www.smythstoys.com/uk/en-gb/toys/action-figures-and-playsets/power-rangers/power-rangers-mighty-morphin-legacy-metallic-blue-power-ranger-16-5cm-figure/p/158052012

They seem to have all 5 in stock. Not sure if legit or if they ship stateside or not. Should I go for it?
>>
>>6376420
fug only ships to the UK. Well UK bros, there's where you can get them online if you don't wanna hunt in store.
>>
im in the US fuck.
>>
No sightings of the metallic Rangers on the west coast this weekend.

>No Falcon Coin
>It'll still cost an arm and a leg

I bet they'll release the Flacon Coin as some standalone gift box and charge like $150 for it.
>>
>>6380479
Pretty obvious they'll do a Tommy coin set. Though it'll be the same price despite being 2 less coins.
>>
>>6380441
Ok I can kind of get this coin set being a solo release. The other original Dino Coins made no sense to release since you already got the set of the same diecast coins with the Legacy Morpher. The Ninja Coins make sense to release since they've been only releasing those with each individual movie morpher. Kinda dumb no Tommy though, same for the Dino Coin set, why no Dragon White Tiger or Falcon?
>>
>>6380589
Actually, they haven't. The Movie White Morpher came with the Falcon coin, but the other three came with the dino coins for reasons known only to Bandai. It took at least a year of constant bitching and moaning to get the ninja coins made.

Got the Green/Red 2 pack today. These things feel kinda janky, but I guess that's what you get for a 20 dollar two pack these days.

Still pretty cool though
>>
>>6382604
Janky how? I've always found Bandai's stuff to be solid.
>>
So I'm wondering if anyone else is having this same problem. I'm truly not trying to trash the legacy line because I really want the in space and Zeo waves. But Everytime I have the money and I see the in space figures in person my excitement plummets I don't know why. Like I see them online in people's collection and I get envious but as soon as I see them in person I just don't care.
>>
>>6383754

The abs/boobs don't fit IS or Megaranger at all, so I can see how you'd be disappointed in the Legacy line upon closer inspection. I love the Megazord and both series, so I'm happy with the set, but can completely understand why others aren't satisfied. If the Nezi/Psycho Rangers ever come out to Legacy, I'd find it hard to imagine they wouldn't look awesome.

Related question: Having the complete IS Legacy set, I really want Space Silver/MegaSilver to really feel like I have a complete collection. It's not coming up in the next few waves, so should I look at getting a custom made? Are there any classic figures that could stand with my Legacy figures? I'm not sure what to do.
>>
>>6386468
Whoops, one more question. I'm also looking at getting IS/Megaranger weapons but can't find anything that would fit. I'd be satisfied with just the Spiral/Drill Saber, but am curious what others have done. Sucks not being into MMPR figures.
>>
>>6333226
>Gokaiger
What's that?
>>
>>6386485
Japanese Sentai of which Super Megaforce got its suits/footage from. Worth noting that Gokaiger is regarded as one of the best Sentai while Super Megaforce is regarded as the worst Power Rangers season.
>>
>>6383754
Yeah, I fucking love the In Space designs, but the Legacy figures just look too off.
>>
>>6383754
On the pegs they look horrible because the proportions are off and they're posed horribly

but on my shelf I think they look great
>>
>>6383726
Shoulder joints feel kind of flimsy. Shouldn't be a problem since I'm not hamhanding them, but it still feels weird.
>>
>>6386563
They may be looser than desired but you don't have to worry, the figures are very sturdy. Bandai America's figures are generally made to take a beating.
>>
>>6386475
Bandai America made some 8" PRiS figures during the original run that came with their weapons. Those would probably be a pretty good fit since they look a bit undersized for the 8" figures. However, they'd take a lot of money and patience to track down.
>>
Anyone have problems with Legacy IS Pink and Yellow falling over? Mine keep falling over every other day.

>>
>>6387304

I cant give the girls any cool poses because their feet suck

What the fuck happened
>>
>>6390743
Hype from the movie died.

Went out hunting for metallic Rangers again this weekend and came up empty. Barnes and Noble had some NS and IS Legacy rangers and I saw MMPR Red and Greeen there not long ago so if you're looking for wave 1 check them out. They also had a Legacy Dragon Dagger and a few MMPR Red helmets.
>>
>>6390743
Current series is on hiatus, movie came and went, Wave 3 of Legacy is a clusterfuck of bad distribution, next wave of Ninja Steel stuff is still not out yet, no new reveals since Toy Fair, and other Legacy zords/weapons aren't out yet.

It's a dry spell until SDCC most likely, so give it another 3 weeks for this thread to become lively again.
>>
>>6390948
I just picked up Ninja storm from there for 17 a piece pretty happy about that. If I found a green and red I would cry. I saw them at Kmart didnt buy them and haven't seen them since.

>>6390949
this is one of the most poorly managed toylines ever

I got into because of the movie hype but shit is so random, people are finding mmpr waves in the wild , in space is gone, movie figures randomly restocking, some people have the metallic wave

I don't understand it at all
>>
>>6391016
>this is one of the most poorly managed toylines ever
Not even just the shit distribution, the waves make no sense. If you're going to do a BAF, fucking release all the parts at the same time.

Also Zeo Gold when?
>>
>>6391037
They couldn't even relase a silver ranger

its literally the same mold as the other ones but silver, and his chest squares are all green

Im excited for zeo but I feel gold and red are going to fly off the shelf
>>
>>6391044
I am also saddened by no silver ranger of IS. Not even a SH Figuarts or anything, what gives?

Man, I nearly bought all of the metallic legacy figures, but the shoulders bother me too much because they look dislocated. Much prefer the figuarts version. It doesn't look as bad on the girls, so I still bought Kimberly.
>>
>>6391069
>much prefer the figuarts version

they aren't in the same league in height price or sculpt
>>
>>6391069
They had proper shoulders at this point, why couldn't these have used those for this rerelease? Those shoulders really hurt the aesthetic of the MMPR figures.
>>
>>6391069
Where did you almost buy them? I'm looking to pick them up. My local Targets have yielded no results, but they did just get wave 3 earlier this month.
>>
>>6362901
yes, which is why so many Americans are discovering the Sentai show and liking it better than the Saban shit show. Hell, it's become so popular that Shout Factory has been releasing the original sentai versions with subtitles.

You're wrong. Actually, sorry, you're half right.

See, Americans don't hate things that make you use your imagination. That's what companies THINK Americans want.
>>
>>6391892
If you ask 100 people on the street, 99 will have no clue what the fuck a "Super Sentai" is. Almost all of them will have at least heard of Power Rangers, though. And most wouldn't be interested in watching either.

God, you people are delusional.

And Americans (the average American, not people on the internet who are deep into weeaboo subcultures like us) obviously hate things that are imaginative and different or else these cookie cutter piece of shit Marvel movies wouldn't keep making half a billion dollars each.
>>
>>6392609
>obviously hate things that are imaginative and different or else these cookie cutter piece of shit Marvel movies wouldn't keep making half a billion dollars each.

Its amazing that we can consider Marvel movies cookie cutter, considering we had almost a hundred years of movies that were just cookie cutter dramas, mafia movies, romantic comedies, etc, relatively little fantasy or sci-fi, and even rarer were films like that that'd reach something past B-movie status. Even then you could only push so much. Now you have movies where two of the main characters are a tree-man and a talking racoon from space, or a Norse god teams up with a robot man and a WWII super soldier, all making millions of dollars, and everyone knows this.

Also, incredible cognitive dissonance to shit on those as cookie cutter, when sentai is one of the biggest examples of a cookie cutter franchise.
>>
>>6392634
They're all the same. Goddamn. Movie. They look the same. The tone is the same. They follow the same beats. They're boring. Deadpan snarking, CGI clusterfuck battle, rinse, repeat. Sentai is formulaic but at least they're visually distinctive and energetic, plus the bar is set a little lower for a cheap TV show whose sole reason for being is to sell toys to five-year-olds.
>>
>>6393013
>Follow the same beats

Explain to me how The Avengers and Ant Man are the same movie.
>>
>>6393520
I haven't seen Ant-Man because I tapped out by that point, but let me guess how it goes--there's a guy. He's kind of a dick. He gains superpowers and is all gung-ho about using them, but suffers an initial setback. He regains his confidence, has a big battle with a one-dimensional villain with ill-defined goals, saves the day, and is now a likeable dick. Also, there's a girl. She's a strong independent woman who don't need no man, except for our hero by the end of the movie.

That's the plot of Iron Man and Doctor Strange, repeated with variations for other characters. For example, the hero might start with powers and then lose them (Thor, IM3). Or he might be a good guy all the way through instead of a likeable dick (Captain America). At least these movies have a structure; the Avengers movies (including Civil War) are just a sequence of set pieces and lame-ass quips strung together by a barely comprehensible plot.

I mean, it's okay to like things that are shitty. We like Power Rangers, after all! But these superhero flicks are mediocre at best. They're not Citizen Kane.

They should, ranger figures dont sell over there

also the show looks like one giant toy show

Any chances of a chogokin-quality Dragonzord ever being made or do I just buy a legacy Dragonzord now while they're relatively cheap?

whatever the last PR series was, dino steel I think, had like 10 or 12 rangers so I don't think that would be a problem

Hey /toy/ I never even thought about this board existing until like two hours ago, either way, I had a mental break down and bought a brand new legacy Dragonzord, used Megazord and and used Black and Gold Megazord for 200$, how ripped off am I?
>>
>>6398436
Brand new legacy dragonzord runs around $80, the other two are probably worth more than $120 depending on condition so I'm sure you didn't get ripped off.
>>
>>6391069

Are the metallic figures available online in the U.S anywhere?>
>>
>>6398447
Haven't seen em online or in store yet. My local target just restocked wave 3. Tons of MMPR yellows and whites. I'd give it another few weeks to a month before the metallic rangers show up.
>>
>>6398504
thanks for the info senpai
>>
>>6397743
they'll never make one. buy a dragonzord while the re-issue is in stock before they go 300+ again
>>
>>6400421
There's a good fucking chance they will considering how popular it is. Titanus is a different story, but Dragonzord... come on.
