Odd proportions, flashy color scheme that borders on garish, head-sculpt with barely any detail and little stickers on his chest that look like generic 80's sci-fi tech.

Comparison pics of Cosmos re-issue are out. I like the darker green, the yellow forearms and not worrying about scratching the helmet anymore.

Not sure how I feel about the reflective paint on the visor and windows. It looks okay here, but when I saw it in the store, it lacked definition. And what the hell is with the microscopic Autobot badge?

>>

The old one was cast in white and painted over red. The new one is cast in red with no paint.

I'm not one of those "hurrr, paint is the devil!" people, but given how little clearance there is around the head when it pops out, it's better to have it unpainted, I think.

Hot on the heels of The Bumblebee Movie logo trademark, Hasbro has applied for another brand new Transformers related Trademark at the United States Patent And Trademark Office.

What’s interesting is the fact that the trademark description is very descriptive unlike previous Transformers trademarks.

Cybertronics
Trademark ID: 87443682
Trademark Date: 05/15/2017
Owner: Hasbro Inc.
Trademark Description: Toy robots; buildable toy robots; toy action figures, toy vehicles and toy robots convertible into other visual forms
The trademark is obviously a wordplay of the names Cyber + Electronics or Cyberton + Electronics.

We currently do not know for what purpose this new trademark will be used but there may very well be electronics involved along with a construct-able functionality similar to what Lego has to offer with their Technics line.

The image used for this news post is Kre-O Bumblebee and does not relate to the content of the news post.
>>
>>6330236
What do the glyphs decode to I wonder?
>>
>They are back! War has began Funko POP!
Hasbro has applied for another Trademark at the United States Patent & Trademark Office but this time for a trademark that is partially attached to the Transformers franchise.

Back with a brand new logo, Mighty Muggs seems to be making a comeback after several years of absence (commercial discontinuation).

Trademark Name: Mighty Muggs
Trademark Description: Heads, portraits, busts of men not in profile. Stylized men, including men depicted in caricature form. Rectangles that are completely or partially shaded
For those who do not know, Mighty Muggs are a vinyl–plastic collectible toy series made by Hasbro. The toys resemble super deformed versions of characters from the following franchises: Star Wars, Marvel Comics, Indiana Jones, G.I. Joe, and Transformers. There is a line of smaller figures, called Mini Muggs, as well as blank Mighty Muggs for customization.

For more information regarding the original discontinued line, you can visit our own Resources Section of Transformers Mighty Muggs

>>
>>6330372
I find it odd that you're saying this in tfg where there are a bunch of fags who actually buy those shitty rid toys.
>>
>>6330382
At least they transform though, making them technically transformers even if they're terrible ones.
>>
>>6330372
I think a lot of the reason people buy shit like that is because everything is homogenized, know what I mean? They satisfy autism, and it appeals to even normies, because it doesn't ask them to get too deep into anything. You don't need to know shit or be a collector or do research on what you're buying, because they're all the same in terms of pricing and quality. You can just be like "Ohhh (x character) how cute! I can put him with my others!" and that's that. It's an extremely shallow puddle to splash in for easy nerd cred, with no threat of ever getting deeper.

>>6330388
Also some of them are kind of cool, like Bisk, and the upcoming Twinferno.

Finally got this beautiful bastard and he has usurped Trigger happy as my favorite TR deluxe. I think I still prefer MechIdeas' Apex for a wreckers representation of Topspin, but this is just such a good toy. His transformation is so sand even his plastic feels higher quality.
>>
>>6330428
I want him, his alt mode is rad, buy his bot mode just seems bland and generic, and the underside of his wings is ugly as sin. I wonder if Takara might remold them...
>>
Anyone notice the difference in marketing for TLK? Last February it was all about girl power and squeeks but now it's all about Cogman and false history.

It feels like a chunk of the movie is gonna be an afterthought or at least enough for two movies, just like AoE was.

>>
>>6330153
>autobot symbol on shoulder

Why?

Not trying to troll, but I'm glad I picked up the Takara version a few years ago.
>>
>>6330580
Why not? I think it looks cool, makes him look more dynamic and less symmetrical. A ton of bots have badges on one shoulder.

You sound like the kind of person who thinks that a toy's quality is directly equal to how much it looks like its G1 counterpart.

And that's wrong.
>>
>>6330588
This is a classics line. The less these toys do things like their source material, the less quality they are.

Deal with it.
>>
It's times like this I'm glad GoBots never went in on the badge concept. No asymmetry, no blown disguises, no reprolabels, etc.
>>
>>6330153
Unless they're somehow saving money making the faction smaller I really don't see why they would have made it smaller.

It's not something like UW Brawl where there's literally nowhere to put a cartoon-accurate con logo on his left forearm so they just made it like atom-small and put it on on like the edge of a 5mm peg hole
>>
>>6330613
>accuracy=quality
But... that's wrong. Just fucking listen to yourself, man. You may not LIKE less accuracy, but that does not make the toy objectively bad. Especially something as superficial as where the badge is positioned.

I wish there was a rule that geewunners had to have tripcodes, so we should know whose opinions we should just outright ignore.
>>
>>6330613
>MPs need to be 100% accurate to the cartoon! That's what the line is for! If you want new ideas, buy Generations!
>Generations need to be 100% accurate to the cartoon! That's what the line is for! If you want new ideas, go fuck yourself!

>>6330588
>Why not?

Pretty simple, it just looks stupid.

I don't give a shit if it's G1 accurate. I just want the figure to look good.

There's nothing wrong with having standards.
>>
>>6330575

Well, he definitely shares engineering what with the whole spinning torso thing. That is a pretty good way to solve some transformation issues for some 'bots.
>>
>>6330647
>>6330641

Stop taking obvious bait.
>>
How would you guys react if the MP line keeps redoing past figures just to make things hyper show accurate?
Like, what if they went and re did Bumblebee into some accurate blocky shit even though MP21 is just fine?
>>
>>6330652
Because geewun
>>
>>6330669
I've been starting to hear rumors that MP40 is going to be a disgustingly animation-accurate retool of MP10

When that happens I guess I'll be done with MPs.
>>
>>6330669
I would be pissed, but ultimately it would save me a ton of money and I would just focus on collecting takara legends stuff and maybe branch into turd parties.
>>
>>6330683

As long as this version of Prime has free leg movement that isn't restricted by his crotchpiece, that'd be fine by me.

What wouldn't be fine would be the undoubtable $250 price tag attached to it though because "muh trailer".
>>
>>6330635
>no reprolabels
http://toyhax.com/symbols-for-tf/2158-go-bots-faction-symbols.html
>>
>>6330641
It's a classics line. Like every other classics line a retro toy line has had, accuracy is key. Classics will never go 100% animation accuracy like MP, but that's not an excuse to do things different that isn't necessary just to appease the "different is better" moron crowd. Moving a faction logo, for instance doesn't accomplish anything. So there's zero reason to do it.
>>
>>6330864
Except "Classics" was never officially "classics", that was just a development name that stuck because of fan's need to label things. Classics came right off the bat with complete redesigns like Mirage, Megatron, Jetfire, etc, only Starscream and arguably Bumblebee stayed similar to their G1 looks. The whole design aesthetic was aiming more for modern updates than exact representations. Transformers isn't a line you can really compare to other toylines, especially ones like GI Joe ARAH or MOTU which spend a good amount of time being dead or stagnant.
>>
>>6330864
There is also zero reason to leave it you faggot. Generations has become more geewun accurate than ever recently. If you're this triggered about faction symbols being moved, how the fuck did you survive early classics toys without having an autism-fueled seizure?

From the amount of bitching that routinely goes on in these threads, it's safe to assume nobody likes the toys, either.
>>
Partsforming never really bothers me, but I just noticed that MP Smokescreen's shoulder guns are mounted on little arms that happen to be right next to the little slots they go into in vehicle mode. They literally could have just put those slots on the hood of the car instead to save on partsforming, but considering the little arms are slightly articulated I suppose it's better that way.

Feels kind of ridiculous unpegging them from the windshield just to slot them into arms that are basically at the exact same spot.
>>
>>6331090
I hate partsforming when designers abuse it to "cheat" transformations, but some times its part of the character charm, I got tfc Sixgun some weeks ago and been loving the playability, all the guns have 5 mil posts so almost everyone can hold parts of him.
>>
>>6331090
The peg holes are molded in the intake louvers to hide them and make the figure look nicer, and the louvers are not a part of the hood, but the windshield which ends up on hos back during transformation. They would have had to remold both the hood and windshield parts to make it so the louvers are attached to the hood, which likely would have negatively affected transformation, or put the peg holes for the guns directly into the hood, which would have looked like shit. The final option was just to slightly alter the hinged pins which made up the cannons on the previous two molds.

You basically wanted them to spend a ton of time and money re-engineering the figure in one of two ways that would have made it look or fit together much worse, just because you're triggered by extremely minor partsforming. This is why I hope Takara never listens to fan feedback. You faggots all want objectively worse toys just to satisfy your autism.

Way to go out with a whimper, Fun Pub.

Should have released the Pretenders last. They're delightful.

>>
>>6331711
I see your point, but my point was that we at least have a representation of Starscream and Thundercracker for the SG Universe. Sure they're two different molds, but whatever, they are the characters they're meant to represent. Therefore, having a toy-rep of Starscream and a toy-rep of Thundercracker kind of facilitates the "need" (want is really a better word) for a toy-rep of Skywarp, even if it's a nonmatching mold.

That's why the SG Starscream figure is just so out of left field. They've covered that character already, then they covered Thundercracker as well (meme or not, he was covered). Why not just go ahead and do Skywarp to complete the trio?
>>
>>6331729
>The colors are good though.
Not saying the colors look bad. I think the toy looks really good (not better than the OG Shattered Glass Starscream figure). I just think it could have served as a good way to give fans a much needed Skywarp.

This is Funpub we're talking about here, so literally no one expected much cohesion with their Shattered Glass "line" or continuity.

Still, it would have looked badass had they gone with the theme you suggested. Though that would have meant they'd have to reuse the Cybertron Starscream mold 2 more times...which I doubt they would have ever done since it's not the Classics Starscream mold they were so fond of pimping out.

My TF dream is for the films to get rebooted in the Pixar/Dreamworks-style animation, all on Cybertron, no humans, not so self-serious like TF:Prime. Just make it a coming-of-age hero's journey that follows an adolescent Orion Pax as he discovers his home planet's mystical secrets, and at some point he inevitably becomes Optimus Prime.

Most importantly, use minimalistic character designs and make the tie-in toyline on par with TF Animated.

Careful. You're going to trigger the fuck out of someone. But I agree. I also think that the individual eyes being painted on top of what is clearly a visor look off as well.

This is the problem with Takara whether people want to admit it or not. They're willing to apply a much higher quality paint job and details, but since they're trying to be G1 accurate, it doesn't always mesh with the molds, since Hasbro isn't being quite so strict. But when it works, it's pretty great, usually.

I ended up skipping Kickback all together. I just don't like the looks of the figure with either paint job. I guess I'm okay with an incomplete insecticon team.

Do the takara ones have painted faces?

Found Takara MP10 on ebay while looking for Lego about a month ago, and was blown away by it. Got me back into transformers, last time I bought a transformer was Barricade from the 1st michael bay movie. Kinda splurged in the past 2 weeks. Bought Generations (?) Springer, Arcee + Chromia (though I only really wanted Arcee), bootleg MP Bumblebee and Ratbat, and today I went to Target and bought Gnaw, Kickback, and Triggerhappy, as well as movie Barricade for my brother. (As a side note, Barricade's front right wheel panel was broken right out of the packaging, seems to have been molded wrong. Had to drive back to Target to get a new Barricade.)

In summary though, I've just been buying whatever I want. Can't wait for the MP Soundwave rerelease. And I'm reaaaly tempted to buy that 3P DNA Bludgeon.

It's funny how whenever someone would complain that MP was being TOO G1 accurate, the automatic rebuttal was "that's what MP is for, go buy Generations if you want new takes on old characters", but apparently that's no longer what Generations is for, either.

I can't wait for them to make a new Cosmos with no eyes and a mono-foot, please.

Just gonna paint the rims and smokestacks, considering doing the face as well but I'm not so great at finer details.

yeah same wobbleness, but don't worry he is just as not as nice looking as the hasbro version but still a good figure if you prefer the chinese cartoon colours.
>>
>>6332963
>if you prefer the chinese cartoon colours
I don't persay, but I've found that I've enjoyed all of the LG releases of figures, even when I thought the Hasbro version looked better, the improved quality of paint and plastic on the Takara versions ends up making them look better in the end. And the extra paint on the headmasters makes them feel more like actual little minifigures, and a lot more fun to play with. Plus the color-matched titanmaster vehicles are cute, too. I actually already own Hasbro Highbrow. I'll probably swap faces on the headmaster, since that's the only thing I definitely prefer to Takara's.

Sucks about the head wobble, though. Apparently it isn't on every copy of the figure, but it is on most. I think the wobble is actually caused by a poor casting on the titan master's head. On mine, you can clearly see the top edge of the head isn't properly formed and probably leads to a poor connection.
>>
>>6332982
Not the guy you're responding too, however as a owner of the current LG headmasters team

>improved quality of paint and plastic on the Takara versions
Paint quality is higher but is can be a tad sparse at times, the overall body of TR weirdwolf and highbrow do stand out better than their LG versions, still the paint strength between the 2 is just as durable...except for my hardhead, somehow accidentally thumb-nailing his face left a slight scratch, the finish is weaker than hasbro's gloss coated abuse cases.

Plastic quality isn't really negligible, I bought a hasbro chromedome and his retool for a custom project and they feel about the same as the lg chromedome

>And the extra paint on the headmasters makes them feel more like actual little minifigures
Its nice, but again its not that great considering some are just face only, tr blurr's has more paint that both lg skullcruncher and lg hardhead alone as sad as it is, I just....don't understand why hasbro painted the first wave faces in but just ditched the rest afterwards, friction rub isn't that big a deal on the titan master heads nor the bodies

>Plus the color-matched titanmaster vehicles are cute
They are, but never understood their inclusion, clearly some way to make sure japanese owners could get them since they weren't doing stand alone releases...even though using the apeface mold like that did for weirdwolf is absurd

I have a love/hate relationship with the line, but its because of my delving from both hasbro and takara I'm focusing more on mp's and eventually quitting this hobby
>>
>>6332994
>the finish is weaker than hasbro's gloss coated abuse cases.
It must vary. I find the paint to be quite durable, especially on LG Brainstorm who has a ton of paint, and a lot of it scrapes directly against other shit during Transformation, and I've seen nary a scratch. Makes me wonder why the fuck they can't use more durable paint on MPs.

>I'm focusing more on mp's and eventually quitting this hobby
The downsizing/simplifying of the retail stuff, and especially combiner wars, caused me to drop most retail stuff over the past few years in favor of MPs, but the shitty new, 100% cartoon accurate aesthetic of the MP line, and the fact that TR figures are just so damn fun has really shifted my focus in the past year. The retail stuff has really found a sweet spot of having a fun, easy transformation that is clever, but also results in a pretty good figure with minimal kibble. Sure we might be seeing a few more gaps or less articulation in some places, but overall I'm still impressed. If Takara keeps up with their great retools, and adding shit like Targetmasters, I'm going to have to start importing on a regular basis.
>>
>>6332944
>floppy neckjoint problem
How common is this? I got the TR version and it's perfectly fine.
>>
>>6333007
>Makes me wonder why the fuck they can't use more durable paint on MPs
I would find being "adult collectables" would be the case, we're supposedly more careful and would would touch them less frequently, that said qc issues are a thing...I own both current mp coneheads for example.

I find the molds between retail stuff between both hasbro and takara are starting to find their sweet spot again, but only with deluxes (triggerhappy is a miracle in itself) compared to larger classes which were once a nightmare (rotf leader prime) reduced to almost nothing (cw leader megs, I can transform him blind compared to rotf leader megs), surely bigger classes SHOULD mean more complexity rather than just a bigger toy right?

The mp shift hit me hard, what brought me in was the merger between toy aesthetics with cartoon looks, its still there but now it seems they leave room for redeco potential (the second mp primal is one case, and surely a silver painted mp megs with red leg panels with tampo'd oatterns on the chest plate are a thing, his leg panels still carry the toy detail and they're easily masked/painted separately), but ones like the vannette and fuso molds are VERY polarizing, though with the fuso mold I believe it was to go against the 3p's which were toy aesthetics first.

I wanted to stick with the retail stuff, but the inclusion of stickers to larger toys coupled with the fact I've got just about everything I cared about are becoming reasons enough to finally withdraw from retail, hell if they announce mp galvatron and titan scorponok I can just quit there and then from the hobby at once.

>never attempted a wash before

For safe application
>using enamels
Easier to use, first spray with a GLOSS top coat (use lacquer based for max protection, for max autism or paint effect paint first, then top coat, then apply wash and top coat again in matte or gloss) to protect the plastic mix with enamel thinner until watery, then just tap sections that need a wash, wipe away excess with a cotton bud with enamel thinner to clear as you need, do note failure to protect the plastic will melt the living fuck out of the plastic, not instantly but it'll be substantially weaker to near gps levels o crumbling
>via acrylics
Same but with acrylic stuff, you can skip the protective layer but if the surface isn't "smooth" (ie glossy) paint has a hard time running into the etchings, will still need a top coat as you can rub it off with your hands depending on surface contact, also acrylics don't flow as well as enamels do.
>using laquer
Protective and finishing top coats only, do not using thinned lacquer paint to do washes

Just got Perceptor and Topspin in the mail.

I'm kind of in love with Perceptor's colors. the blue-green and the red look great, reversing the pattern from the arms to the legs, it looks super good. Not really a fan of his alt mode, or his transformation, but his bot mode, for me more than makes up for that.

In some way I like Topspin more than Triggerhappy, and I think that's mostly because his jet mode reminds me a lot of Space Cowboy Online's i-gear ship bodies with the double (or triple in the game's case) noses and the giant engines. Transformation's pretty nice, but his headmaster doesn't sit well in the cockpit, I've kind of found the way to wedge him in so he doesn't rattle.
>>

you can fit it onto his shins on the side, facing behind him, but other than that, no, there's no real good spot to put it in vehicle mode. His gun works best split and under the wings, at least from what I've found.

I remembered I have these stickers for Ratchet. I guess for toy accuracy or maybe to not make the entire torso of the robot mode all be glass they painted half of the rear-most window of the vehicle mode, so reprolabels made some stickers to make them look unpainted.

I didn't bother with them when I got this sticker sheet but I felt like trying them and I think they're pretty nice. It would probably be better to just try and strip off that paint instead of putting a sticker over it anyway if this is a look you want, though.
