Basically they will have a catalog that lists a select group of Revoltechs that will always be in stock. That's right if they run out that revo will be reissued. As of now they just say Takeya, Evangelion Evolution, Amazing Yamaguchi, Assemble Borg Nexus and Movie Revo. It's safe to assume a good chunk of old releases from these lines will be in the catalog.

Cool Yamaguchi knows about this...maybe a Revoltech could happen?

These being?
>>
>>6319365
http://kaiyodo.co.jp/items/tag/movie-revo/

What Sci-fi Revo and Star Wars Revo eventually became. It's from a movie it's Movie Revo pretty simple.
>>
Yamaguchi mecha isn't in there. Maybe their mecha license expired and they used it to sell those overpriced legacy Revoltechs. Now Vulcanlog holds them.

It does appear that they are renewing their license for Evangelion and continuing with Movie Revo and the Marvel Comics line.
>>
>>6319389
Yeah Evangelions will keep coming out. I forgot to list them but Evolution 01 and 03 are being re-released first.

Description also hints at future new Eva items so maybe they already have something in the works.

Also, very wishful thinking, but Amazing Yamaguchi brand could include some old Yamaguchi Revoltechs too, potentially.

We just need to wait for that catalog.
>>
I hope they can stick Raiden in somewhere with the re-issues.
>>
>>6319420
I wouldn't keep any hopes for the Konami IPs.
>>
>>6319431

Eh, they still have venom snake. Though I'm not sure if he's just shelf-warming for forever or been re-issued.
>>
>>6319432
That's a VulcanLog so I guess UC has that licence now, or did. Unrelated to this Reboot even though Kaiyodo made him.

It shelf warmed hard for some reason. Made too many? Fans hate him for who he is?
>>
>>6319432
Anyways that was all before Hideo Kojima left, and since I bet him and Kaiyodo was the actual ones connected I doubt we see anymore dealings between Kaiyodo and Konami.

Does anybody here have the horse? I'd love to see some centaurs or minotaurs and I can't find anything online.

Besides revoltechrox, I know of no other Revo only reviewer. Hacchaka has some Revos I know... but I'd really like to see someone go wild with combinations.
>>
>>6319383
So does that mean releases from the Sci-Fi and Star Wars lines might get reissues, too?
>>
>>6319556
Not on me, but the connection piece for the horse is very limiting. Plus the size, it is not as versatile as you might think.

>>6319587
No idea. Looking at the Movie Revo brand alone though, there aint much there. Star Wars probably not (why fight Bandai) Iron Man stuff maybe a few (War Machine damn it) Gamera they want to make new ones and they did say we will have reissues long ago, so most likely yes.

...and Woody always.

The description talks of Sci-Fi era stuff so who knows.

I have mixed feelings on Venom. He LOOK amazing. BUT hes an absolute pain in the ass to pose.

Everything is loose. I had to take it completely apart, and tighten something like, 90% of the joints. A loose joint here or there is fine, but this obviously has some tolerance issues. The torso joint is just poorly engineered, no way around it. The joint is way too small to support that much weight.

Revoltech really needs to drop the dated revo joint and design something new. They put all this work into sculpt and then use these shitty out dated joints. A few of the joints in this thing are are new already, why not just finish the job?

Also the neck was a pain in the ass. I did the double joint neck mod and its better now.

Long story short, venom is cool, but I feel like I had to do way too much work to make him "good".
>>
>>6319657
At the very least, when they do eventually make new joints, it shouldnt be too hard to add them to him. He might be salvageable.
>>
>>6319657
If they intend to do additional massive characters, I wonder which is easier or cheaper?

Make brand new set of joints I suppose with better pegs. Or have the body pieces hollow by being a 2 piece structure.
>>
My experiences with Revo have all been super weird. I love the figurines itself but I hate the joint. It's usually loud and clanky, I was super in the mood to get Venom, DP, SM and Wolverine but I'm simply not sure if I'll be able to enjoy the figures.

I do love my Revolminis, tho. Last Revoltech that I got was Boba Fett and still felt pretty weird.

Should I cave in or...?
>>

I love that sound
>>

>there are people on /toy/ right now who don't know what a ratchet joint is

Was no one alive in the 80's or something? Toys then had that shit all the time. Tons still do though mostly Transformers in my experience, since ratchets are heavier joint types for toys that need big, meaty articulation to hold their weight.

Got my venom today. He's really nifty but, don't feel he's worth the high price. Really wish Kaiyodo would have made a bigger stand for larger characters like this. You can only do so much with such a small stand. I also think I ended up stretching the hole on his back due to the weight of the figure. Tried to swap the joints in the neck but mines really in there and didn't want to risk damaging him.

Maybe you should stop being autistic and go buy a fidget toy or something
The spinning might soothe your ears
>>
>>6319752
I doubt they would ditch the ratchet completely, since they have had all the chances to do so with the Mini joints available. It has been used only in very selective way, or in smaller Revoltechs like the cute characters type.

I do highly recommend Spider-Man. It's done interesting things to achieve high range of articulation while maintaining an organic form while posed to the extreme.

Plus no frustrating small pieces falling off or prone to breaking. Wolverine might blow away the top but for now Spidey is one of those figures you can mess around with for hours.

And only like three joints are heavy in the ratcheting.
>>
>>6319752
I love Revol Minis too, anon, but the recent sculpts and articulation are top-notch. Well-worth the "click click."

By the way, I bit the bullet and bought an (obviously bootleg) Venom Snake for twenty bucks on eBay today. I've risked it before but the results haven't been so bad. Any QC defects I should look forward to?
>>
>>6319905

Dunno about any KO Revo Snake's, but KO Deadpool apparently had incredibly shitty joints that basically fell apart.

what a fucking disappointment
>>
>>6319937
First, do not cut anything.

You can't get the knees to touch or anything like that. Looking like the legs are straight down, you could twist the thigh pieces outwards and then the shins forwards at the knee revo joints.

The issue is the fat shaft of the hip ball joints hitting the socket edge. You could heat up the plastic and try and reshape the socket so the legs could get closer, but don't think it would change much.

bruh your background is way too saturated and vibrant, shit's distracting.
>>
>>6319657
I didn't get my Venom yet but I'd say there's a strong chance (60%?) based on reviews that mine gets a loose torso as well. I'd happily buy a custom joint made specifically to make the connection stronger...we shouldn't have to do that but we don't live in an ideal world where 80 bucks figures always come sturdy and solid. I wonder if Revo will ever adress this issue and add that "new joint" as a bonus in a future release or not.
>>
>>6320111

Waiting on mine too. I dunno, if it's fucked I might just see if HLJ will do a return.

I half-expect the re-issue to fix the problems, which will suck for first adopters.

>Is there a name for this phenomenon? I feel like this happens a lot, where the unpainted version looks a million times better than the painted one. See most figmas
Change in materials OR thick paint caking up details. Prototypes are often made in a harder material which retains detail better than PVC which is softer. Sometimes prototypes are made in a larger scale as well (see: 4H stuff) and then scaled down which causes detail loss. Then sometimes the paint is just caked on so thick it decimates any detail that survives the material change. Look at Marvel Legends, the prototypes were amazingly detailed but they were fully painting the heads and it turned to dog shit. Nowadays Hasbro just paints the eyes/lips/eyebrows and they look SO much better.
>>
>>6320704
The trunks would ideally be the same metallic material and color as his shoulder pads but i get that you couldn't really edit that on

I agree the unpainted ver. looks better because the painted one is lacking on shading and face detail/veins but I'm still quite pumped for this Wolverine and I'm not even a fan of the character. Same thing with Venom, honestly; I bought it because I like the design, I don't hate the character and engineering wise I think it's amazing (minus the torso joint).

It's called shit paint jobs.
That other guy isn't right or wrong, as it really depends on the situation.

When you see something black and white or unpainted, you're trying to fill in the details with how you think it would look like if colorized. So you may believe that the sculpt work looks more realistic than is suited for the flat shaded solid colored paint job it got.

And that paint job is pretty bad. Look at those huge spaces inbetween the teeth. The super bright yellows. The metallic blues. Completely flat colors everywhere, that does nothing to enhance the sculpt.

There's a lot of other reasons you may not like the paint job, but that doesn't mean every one would be bad.

I think if he used just a swivel there would be gappeage or the sculpt would have to be modified. This way you get a tiny bit of extra range but it's main use is to align the piece properly with the body.

Btw, I tried out the double neck joint mod on Venom and didn't like it. Sticks too far out and breaks up the sculpt too much for my taste.

>>
>>6319389
That's not really how licenses work. There isn't a broad "mecha license" so much as each individual figure is licensed separately. If they want to reissue a figure, that's a separate license (and they need to make sure that the molds haven't deteriorated). I imagine that the reason they didn't mention any Yamaguchi mecha is because the Legacy of Revoltech reissues sold poorly, and they're mis-interpreting that as "people aren't interested in mecha figure reissues" rather than "maybe we jacked up the prices a bit too much."
>>
>>6322790

Take a damp qtip and clean the inside of the hip where the make plug attaches, both on the hip part, and the back of male plug.
With a tooth pick, apply a small amount of gorrilla glue to the back of the male plug and to the cavity where it sit in the hip assembly. Being sure to coat all the corners and ridges.
Seat the plug into the cavity of the hip assembly where it belongs and wipe away any glue that seeps out.
Use a binder clip, or small vise to clap the parts together over night.
It will be good as new in the morning.

Gorrilla glue is just a slower cureing version of what most toy manufacturers use.

It's to prevent spilled or evaporated glue to fuse the whole thing shut. Always a better idea to keep the glued pieces away from stuff you don't want sticking together.

And it's a load baring spot, you want the connection strong.

I say just separate the peg and leave the glue to dry over night. Put scratches on the area to be glued for better effect.

wow that's a surprise... I wonder why they chose to recolor Fuujin, since the iconic painting it's based off is in color, versus the other deities that actually are based off the statues, so making recolors like wood/full color makes sense. I wonder what color they'd do Raijin as. The one I really want is the red full color Ashura from series 1.

We saw prototypes, Have patience, you know how long it took Jarkroid to come out? Even I.O girls are taking pretty long despite showing off the figures from the start.

It's probably due to getting the price and options right, and waiting on finishing the samurai figure so they can be released close together.

Also they might want to keep the big drop as a promotion for their reboot of the franchise. Like the Legacy period, this is the calm before the storm.

Are they going to shit crappy recolors just to delay new releases in the line, forever?
>>
>>6330071
I'm actually surprised that they're doing recolors... That seems to indicate the sculpts were popular enough to reissue as a repaint. I love my Raijin Fuujin but I honestly have no need for a repaint Fuujin. Even a re-release seems to make more sense.
>>
>>6330077
Most of the late ones got some pretty sick aftermarket prices, fudo myoo was 9000when l got it, and l saw it for 15000 later.

And l can understand a recolor for it, but as someone said, a recolor of fujin and raijin, that come from a painting, is completely stupid.

Re releases are fine, but they should be treated as such.
The takeya like is really slow with new releases (l guess it's because he sculpts for so many companies), so l guess they're really using these re releases just to buy time.

The knights we saw six months ago were already good enough to be sold as they are, why do we have to wait so much?
Now if september is already taken, and l doubt they'll split fujin and raijin as releases, l guess we won't see the knights before winter. One fucking year for something that's already done.

>>6330095
If I had to guess why the knights are taking so long, they're probably testing out QC for it or even still picking out materials for it since it's got so many different plates that'd be in its own way for articulation. It is one of the most detailed revoltech releases since the Takeya Kirin and Dragon. I'm still wondering if they'll use softer materials or hard plastic like most of Takeya lines have been using. Also, yes, it's me, same anon who was puzzled at how they're deciding to recolor Raijin Fuujin that were based off that iconic painting.

>>6329836
he's an awful reviewer willing to overlook everything if the toy is cheap enough. on the other hand he tears imports apart because they're more expensive than hasbro shit.
>>
>>6330480
My theory >>6329223

Considering it was mentioned on the stream back when the Horse was first released, anons should be glad it is even happening.
>>
>>6330552
Why would you directly compare a $10-20 toy to a $60-70 toy? Of course you're going to judge them by a different metric. I do the same fucking thing. Imports used to cost around $30-40 and so I was willing to overlook a lot more problems than I am now. Problems I used to ignore or hand wave off are now reasons for me to skip a release entirely.

Don't get me wrong, I am tired of him praising NECA like it's the most amazing thing in the world while tearing apart imports but the average person buying a single NECA Predator is probably going to be more happy than someone spending $60-70 on a mediocre import release with issues that shouldn't exist on a toy that expensive.
>>
>>6330699
I don't know where you come from, but i'm coming from Tacoland and in my country the only way to get a NECA figure is with resellers and the fucker sell the figures in 48,00 fucking dollars, this price for a figure what it could broken or be loose at best is a good deal.
>>
>>6330744
This, and even then the whole "why would you compare a n X value item to a x^2 value item" argument seems weak as fuck to me when comparing items of the same nature. The only difference is whether you're able to afford either item, but they're both toys representing the same character, if one is clearly superior to the other there's little more discussion to be had other than "can i afford it" or "am i willing to settle for the inferior choice"
>>
>>6330744
sorry, I mean "isn't a good deal"
>>
>>6330744
The MSRP is $20, obviously if you can't get it for $20 then the value starts to nose dive and you have to judge it by a different metric.

>>6330760
How is it a weak argument? Of course pricing factors into a comparison and decision making process. By your crazy person logic a person who is rich should get a cutting edge render farm capable PC which has power and features they don't even need just because they can afford it.

"Can I afford it?" should NEVER be the sole metric in making a financial decision. They need to ask themselves whether they like the accessories offered, whether they prefer the accessories in another release more, which sculpt they like more, which line has better QC, which line has better articulation, which line scales better with their other figures, which one will be more fun, etc etc.

This figma is NOT a clear cut winner so stop fucking pretending it is. You have Deadpools available from a variety of lines all offering different things at different price points and different scales.
>>
>>6330785
>By your crazy person logic a person who is rich should get a cutting edge render farm capable PC which has power and features they don't even need just because they can afford it.

Shit like that is exactly what rich people do. They usually go for whatever is expensive just because they can afford it and want to show off they can afford it. That't how a $500 T-shirt can exist.
Even in toy industry, it's why you see 1/1 scale figures or gold plated whatevers Bandai announces time to time. Granted it comes from the Bubble mentality that some people in Japan can't let go.

Not trying to argue the whole toy price thing. Circumstances for toys in US and Japan are
just different in general I see little point in comparing them on the same grounds.
>>
>>6330785
>>6330839
you should probably focus on buying food and paying bills instead of toys if a 20 bucks difference sparks such reactions from you
>>
>>6330095
that does make sense, fudo myoo is one of the most popular deities in Japan and Buddhism art even in general. I do regret not grabbing him instantly, I was broke from grabbing 4 Takeya revoltechs at once, so will wait until they reissue him in his old colors or wooden ver eventually.
>>
>>6330785
>>6330839

honestly... it's a luxury item, so different people will take their worth differently. I see it this way for myself, I don't buy up every single toy that comes out, so when one hits 8/10 or even 10/10 of what I'm looking for in that particular toy of that particular character, if the price isn't too crazy like $150-300 for a 6 inch toy, I'd easily spend the money. How much I'm willing to spend goes up if it's a character I love, both design wise and story wise + how well executed the toy is.

Only other thing that really sways my buying decision is if a particular product I want is infamous for QC troubles.
>>

>Why would you directly compare a $10-20 toy to a $60-70 toy?
Nothing wrong with this, if you compare them directly to their features and not their prices.

I overlook prices all the time and only judge the toy itself.
It's pretty easy to ignore the price when I don't have to fool myself into believing its cost has anything to do with the quality of a toy. I know what i buy can and is overpriced, because all that matters to me is the quality and my enjoyment of the toys.

The fact people on /toy/ get so rankled over the cost of their toys is just weird to me, in a gross humorous way.
>>
>>6331257
>>6331259
>>6331320
I agree, if it doesn't seem worth more than how much you want it, it's something you skip.

That being said, I honestly have found figma to have poor build quality. They don't break but the joints get loose really quick and I'm not even someone who plays around a lot with my toys, I just pose them until I find a pose I really like and leave it on the shelf for a while. The Deadpool looks fine and honestly I don't get why Marvel fans are whining, they have so many options to choose from, from all kinds of price range and different appeals. That Deadpool revo is honestly one of the better sculpts for revo since Raiden and Venom Snake. I wish the Spider-Man was closer to the Deadpool style but am still looking forward to my Spider-Man pre-order to come after my Venom.

big swords.jpg
355KB, 1404x724px
Man, playing with Spider-Man, giving him random weapons just for kicks, the poseability two-handing a sword is probably the best there ever was for an action figure. Raiden and Deadpool both have some issues with the wrists. I'm just using some random Gunpla weapons, but among them is a pretty familiar looking buster sword. Weapons with a round grip are the best for posing fyi I wish they make that more of a common thing. Even for some rifles.

I know Yamaguchi Cloud or Guts will never ever happen, but there could be some Marvel characters that can fit into the general design? Like could Magik Revo happen? She actually looks pretty close to Cloud in the most basic elements. Or Colossus with the same sword (why same sword?). Is she popular enough? She seems to be popping up in some future movies I believe. We could use more weapon wielding Marvel characters that are normally difficult to get the proper poses. The double 6mm shoulders makes a huge difference.
>>
>>6331404

Yamaguchi Guts, I'd be curious to see how they nail the likeness. I did just criticize figma about how quickly their joints deteriorate but they did a great job with Guts likeness. I still think that Black Swordsman is the best likeness of Guts, even compared to the 12 inch toys.

That being said, seeing how well the Monster Hunter ones pose, it'd be great to see how revoltech handle Guts.

I'm honestly more pissed off about the fact Max Factory abandoned the franchise because one figure didn't sell that great (Casca) despite the fact the others sold really well. >>
>>6332407
Yeah, they're finally releasing God Hand, but no word on a Guts reprinting. Keep in mind the Berserker armor figma is like $200+ on the aftermarket right now. So between the final boss of Berserk getting released and everything >>6332388 mentioned, it's the perfect time for ANY company to release a Guts.
I'm just pissed because I feel Yamaguchi could do him justice.
>>
>>6332275
Sorry about that lol. It does come up time to time though.

I do read and like the Berserk and all, played FF7 back when it was out in Japan, but I'm the odd collector that's not so strict on ''I love character A I must have perfect toy of A.'' Probably because I used to play with random toys making up my own scenario and settings.

So if a Marvel Yamaguchi Revo fits close to a certain archetype I want I'm cool.

This guy looks Guts like, seriously doubt it will ever happen. Right now I'm craving for a barbarian, Conan type (enough with the katanas) and a space soldier, sleek techno suit with a full helmet character done with the Yamaguchi treatment. I hope something comes along in the future. Cyclopes, Cable or Domino will probably fit the bill for the latter and one of them will surely be made.

I find that making his entire torso yellow also fixes my issue with it looking too narrow--which I think the Astonishing suit visually tricks me into with the dark blue bars running up the sides. If the former, buy a replacement joint off eBay or Casting Cave or maybe even the BST. You could also replace it with a Hobby Base joint of the appropriate size, those are generally compatible with Revolver joints (you might need to shave off a bit of the pegs if anything).

If the latter, just glue the head back together.
>>
>>6332712
I meant the head is split. One joint connects head and body and another joint connects the rear of the head with the other half. It's made to allow the character to look up better. What broke on mine is the head/Body connection.

Also thanks for the answer.

What do anons think of them, do we have a favourite? Could Wolverine or Gwen replace it easily? I hope Vulcanlogs will continue and make Yamaguchi sculpt IPs besides Marvel.

I've got one of the Jehuty's, Anubis, the Vic Viper, and Ardjet. Jehuty itself is pretty great. Honestly, they're all pretty great, the worst probably being Ardjet, and only because of her big giant cloak/coffin bits aren't really jointed/placed the best on her and get in the way. They're removeable of course, but she has so much more presence with them on, at the cost of her poseability.

Anubis is a bit fiddly because of his wings. It comes with a big stand thats the old, revo type stands that were fucking awful to boot. Atop that, my stand broke, but is easily fixable, I just need the right tools to fix it. But other than his stand being shit (which is a common trait of ALL revo's except the QB line until the Vulcanlog line finally seemed to be standardizing the stands), they're all great figures. Great sculpts, great poseability, everything.

I took a few pics of Jehuty, I could take some of the others, but I been binging on The Surge lately and not paying too much attention to other stuff.

Raiden's left leg doesn't stay in the socket very well which makes his hip articulation loose.
The Skeleton is loaded with lose joints that pop apart at a moments notice.
GL seems to have really weak ratchets in the small joints to the point where it can't hold the drill.
Alice is perfect.

Any sort of "does this company still have rights to that property?" question can be only answered when we see something released, so the answer is "who knows."

I think any new Movie design sculpt will be too expensive today and not worth releasing, which is too bad because that knight looking Optimus and Megatron can be great action figures (they sure ain't transformers). If you mean a new G1 Revo or re-release then you can keep on dreaming.

It's strange, but I'm guessing Marvel is only letting the modern costumes to be produced because they want comic books sales in Japan to be better? the fact that he can arch his shoulders down and back so freely really adds a lot. It's so close to being a perfect figure of Wolverine for me that it sucks. The only Marvel revoltechs I want are Wolverine, Venom, Spider-Man, Blackheart and Shuma-Gorath (which I know won't ever happen and I'm ok with that). I'm happy with Venom and somewhat with Spidey but damn I really really really would have loved a classic costume Wolverine revo.

>is amiami even trying anymore?
Not at all. Don't want to sound like a broken record but there is almost no reason to use AmiAmi anymore.
-Still can't combine across two different months. Order something on the 31st? Well they won't let you combine anything a few days later even if it's in stock items.
-Jacking up prices on popular things by lowering discounts randomly and sometimes even on DAY ONE pre-orders. (SHF Skull 3.0 was only 15% off instead of the normal 27% off)
-Prices in general not great anymore. You used to save $10-15+ on every single line which justified their no cancellation policies. HLJ is cheaper on almost everything but figma when factoring in discounted EMS shipping.
-Shipping still costs a ton due to them adding a bunch of paper on top BUT they're no longer putting enough paper on the sides, my past 4 orders have had figure boxes touching the shipping box directly. Since 99% of damages occur to the sides and not the tops this is retarded as fuck. HLJ does this sometimes too which annoys me but you're paying a lot less there and have freedom to cancel things on a whim.

Honestly AmiAmi lost me as a customer when they decided to start packing things poorly. It wasn't saving me anything on shipping costs but it was putting everything I bought in unnecessary danger of being damaged. The last two shipments there was bad punctures to the shipping box and the figures managed to dodge damages by mere inches/cms due to sheer luck. There was ZERO padding to protect them, one of them was a Femto DX which was an expensive as fuck thing I didn't want damaged in any way.

Don't get yourself too worked up about it. If you don't absolutely have to get mint figure boxes the toys inside will be fine. Even poorly packed stuff will generally arrive ok and like I said, with sheer luck I managed to avoid damages even when the package was abused. I would note that the larger orders seemed to get packed with less care, stuff with 5-6+ figures or big bulky stuff. The smaller orders with 3-4 or less were packed a bit better. So that might make you feel better maybe if you have some smaller orders.
>>
>>6333975

>Interesting you focus on the paper issue. Just had 2 large orders with tons of paper around the sides, bottom and top. Never had any without paper on the sides and I've ordered way too much over the years.
I've had about 100+ orders from them and this year is the first time I started to experience problems. I was willing to call it a fluke the first time because nothing was damaged but then it happened 3 more times. Nothing was damaged but it made me quit ordering new things with them because the prices weren't even better, I was just using them for the superior shipping protection. To clarify...there WAS some paper present on the sides but it wasn't a thick layer capable of protecting anything and it was NOT on all sides.

Side note: Paper isn't really even that great of a packing material to use. It's heavy, it increases the likelihood of damaging boxes during packing and it has very poor absorption of kinetic energy/crushing compared to other packing materials like bubble wrap, air pillows and foam. It can be good if you're getting 4-6+ inches of it but otherwise it's just filling a void to prevent item shifting and to keep the shipping box in better shape by giving it more structural integrity when the box is punctured or crushed.

I'm not that anon but I have bought a few revos over the years and I'd say 60% of them have stayed in good shape but a couple of ones didn't. Main example is my Revo Iron Man (first movie) which I had in a kneeling heroic pose for a while and afterwards his knee-joints became quite loose (and they're indeed revo joints). But yeah, I also have Yukimura Sanada and it has stayed quite solid despite extreme posing.

>>6333220
Wrap a bit of kleenex around the peg in Raiden's hip to tighten the connection. You can also try using Pledge Floor Polish to tighten the connection.

The skeleton is kind of inherently weak due to having to use those puny joints for every connection. What might help is loosening up all the swivels, I found out that this is primarily why the joints seem to pop apart. The holes seem to be hexagonal or octagonal and the pegs are round, so they kind of struggle to move at first. Once I got mine loosened up a little it was fine. The only joint that really suffers is the mid-torso joint, it's just holding up so much weight by itself.

No clue what to tell you about GL. The smallest joints (4mm) do have really weak ratchets, but the drill isn't even that heavy so....idk. Try buying a replacement joint on eBay or casting cave. Or replacing it with a larger and stronger joint, the peg size is the same. Heck, you could even try to buy one of those parts that came with assemble borgs, that have two pegs separated by a divider. This would be super sturdy and definitely support the weight of the drill.

And while we're tangentally on the subject of videogames, The Surge is pretty good. Almost beat it, was pretty good the whole way through. ALRIGHT FRIENDOS, LESSON TIME

Depth of field is controlled by aperture, or f-stop. This is expressed as a numerical value, for example f/2, f/16, etc. The smaller the number, the larger the opening in the lens, which lets in more light. This creates the greatest depth of field and blurriest backgrounds/foregrounds. The higher the number, the more you can get in focus at once--but this creates a smaller lens opening which means your photos get significantly darker. How do we combat this?

With shutter speed and ISO, of course! Shutter speed is how fast the photo is taken. By slowing it down, the lens stays open longer, meaning you can get bright photos where everything is in focus. However, this will equal very blurry photos unless you have super steady hands or use a tripod. You can also increase light by raising the ISO, but this introduces more grain and noise into your photos.

Sorry if that was a little confusing, I can explain more in-depth if there's anything you don't understand. Basically what I'm trying to say is, depth of field is something that can be controlled (and to some degree visually eliminated!) via your aperture setting. After that, it's basically playing a balancing game with your shutter speed and ISO to try to get the photo in-focus and with minimal noise.

This has been your brief lesson on photography for today!
>>
>>6335619

Glad you guys seem to have liked my mini tutorial! Here goes on some replies:

>>6335638
In the days of film, ISO was a measure of how sensitive your film was to light. You could buy film with different ISOs. Now it's just a setting. Ideally, you want to shoot at ISO 100. This will give you the least grain, but you will need a VERY bright scene to use this. I typically can only use 100 in sunlight or very good lightbox conditions. The higher you set the ISO, the brighter your photos get, but look at that hideous grain. You really don't want to get higher than say, 800 ideally. Try to balance your shutter speed and aperture to make that happen.

>>6335693
Hmm, not sure what you mean by physics? You can basically just think of f-stop as an inverse value to how wide your lens opens up. Small number = wide open, big number = more closed up. And just thinking logically, if your lens is more open, it lets in more light, right?

>>6336043
I recommend picking up a Slik tripod. They're fairly affordable and quite solid. For $30 you can get their tabletop tripod on Amazon, which might be good enough if all you want to do is indoor toy photography!

Also, owning a point and shoot doesn't mean it's all over. Play around with the options, dig around in the settings, see what you can do. I shot photos and posted them on /toy/ for a few years using nothing but my dad's eight year old Sony point and shoot, and the reception for them seemed ok! Remember, unless you are truly using a potato, it's more about your lighting and setup than it is your camera.

Happy shooting guys!

All the Revos I own(ed) aged terribly (engineering, look and overal quality) but I keep hearing I that Revoltechs are way better nowadays. When did they fix the line exactly? I wanna know for sure if today's figures are good for real or if it's just a matter of different standards before I give the line another chance.
>>
>>6337113
Raiden is a clear improvement, even when you do like older ones, I'd say since about then.
>>
>>6337113
Not quite a Revoltech, but I picked up Vulcanlog Venom Snake after a long stint of not touching Revols, and its a real night and day difference.

He looks & feels like a good quality toy (his weight helps) and whoever planned out which joints and where on this toy did an amazing job. Real fun to just endlessly pose.

So now I got Deadpool on order at HLJ, because I want to see how the real line has improved.
>>
>>6337113
Nothing really changed drastically. The very early days Revoltechs were much smaller so the sculpt ends up duller, and being covered in paint didn't help when other toys used the color of the plastic much dominantly. RevolMinis were actually about the same size as them.

So sculpt and paint wise, it looks better just from being bigger figures. Yamaguchi still has his stylized sculpting pretty maximized.

Joints wise, they switched to using the revolver joints for all poa pretty early, depending on the line. Basic posing didn't change that much until Venom Snake used ball jointed hips. Well Mark 42 did it first. Only true addition of new joint type was the 4mm but it was used almost exclusively for the wrists. Increased ratchets for the revolver joints was a nice addition but I don't think it made anything easier. The greatest invention imo was having a ball end for the joints used in the Minis. What made RevolMinis so good and fun, but that line died...

I'm focusing on Yamaguchi's work for simplicity, but the point to take from that is that there is no "standard revoltech," most of them are unique sculpts with joints utilized in different ways depending on the designs. So it's hard to say "This is when it got better." It has always been trial and error, case by case, with revos on the error side but among them gems that stands the test of time. Cherry picking can have negative results.

I think more people are interested in Revos now just from the IP choices. It was much more niche, very Japan oriented but that changed around when the Sci-Fi Revo focused on western IPs. And once they owned a good one they realized they're not so bad.

Just ask about specific Revo for quality. Easier to answer.
>>
Man, venom really could have used pegholes in his feet, especially considering how topheavy he is and how useless the arm stand is. The little stomp effect stands may have been played out, but they were low-key one of my favorite things about revoltechs. It's a bummer yamaguchi seems to be done with that whole thing.

Thanks for your answers. The last one really makes it sound like it's a matter of having different standards. I owned about 80 Revos in the past, with the last one being Kinnikuman I think, so I highly doubt I only got "bad ones."

IIRC Kinnikuman was the first one where you see Yamaguchi's human action figure base form coming together, if you really want to talk about a standardized design. From there we see double 6mm shoulders then ball jointed hips, if you ignore the RevolMini.

Give Venom Snake, Deadpool or Spider-Man a try. Changes in shoulders and hips might be what you wanted if you were away for that long. Spider-Man's thigh cuts makes it unorthodox but does give him great articulation.

I never really had issues with the articulation to be honest. My issues were with the overal quality and finish.

If you're more into something like SH Figuarts then no Revos haven't changed much aesthetically. Still fully painted solid PVC chunks connected with revo joints.
>>
What are the chances we get a Revo Daredevil? Maybe with an Elektra to go with him. He's got a simple costume, could come with posable batons, different expressions.

I'll say a 40% chance
The defenders show could help
There is this sudden influx of daredevil figures coming from different companies

Hard to tell. So far the selection has been very straightforward, characters who were in recent movies. Spider-Gwen was the odd one but easy to digest being a female version Spider-Man.

Netflix shows means nothing for Japan, so the biggest sources for DD is still the Affleck movie then games or imported cartoons.

And they only done Spider-Man and X-Men characters, which are the most famous of the marvel characters before MCU kicked in, so it's hard to tell how adventurous they will go.

They might just start doing the popular Avengers instead. The man in charge talked of wanting to do Moon Knight so the lineup might go towards lesser known characters, but that's at a we can sell anything level status which I don't think Kaiyodo is at.

To add more, I can see Daredevil and Elektra getting denied in a meeting. We already have a red suit, ninja like character out. For a female ninja, Psylocke would likely be picked over Elektra from being in a movie and having a more distinct costume and flashy powers good for making a fun action figure.

MvC2 Psylocke would be great, I doubt any other line can do it better than Revo.

Whatever happened to Arthur? He's not dead is he?

MvC will most likely be the biggest inspiration for character selection. That's likely what most Japanese people think of when thinking of Marvel and crazy posing. If they're in MvC, the better chance the project head and Yamaguchi will see the demand for that.

Secondary source will be Spider-man material because Spider-man is big in Japan. You don't have to worry about characters like Spider-Gwen never getting a big, proper introduction because Japan will eat all of it up. Plus Spider-man as an IP has always been a welcome home to crazy comic book posing in many fans minds.

They may look into character lineup in the movies, though I'd honestly like to see a Marvel toyline unaffected by the MCU for once. I'd really prefer if the AY line is driven by people who think the comic book iterations of characters would look great in the style Yamaguchi's going for here than "well... it's in the movies, so here you go...".

It'll be crazy if we get marvel characters from kaiyodo and capcom characters from bandai...

>Arthur
>Kaiyodo probably has license to other Capcom IP's
>Marvel vs Capcom in development

Oh my god it's perfect.

Can't

I...like it if we start looking from the boobs downwards?
>>
>>6339336
Don't have to, I just won't buy it because I don't care for the design nor the character and that's an unappealing face sculpt for it.

Just because I like how Venom and Spider-Man turned out doesn't mean I have to defend or like that.

Sure. Revoltech has always been about pushing the boundaries of dynamism and range, even at the cost of aesthetics. We knew that a hyper-articulated figure with a hood was going to require sacrifice, and here it is. If you think the hood is too ugly, you are not the target market for this figure. This figure is for people who want to pose above all else. Go for the ML instead, which has a more cohesive look to it but isn't nearly as articulated.

...unless you meant defend the facesculpt, in which case I can't. Don't like it myself. Seems too pinheaded, it looks bland even for an anime sculpt, and I don't like the longer hair they gave her.
