Yeah, I'm a PAK skeptic but it's surprisingly good. Definitely worthwhile.

What does it take for PAK to do a head sculpt that doesn't look like shit? Everything else looks fine but the fucking face is botched on every figure.

Dude, what? They're definitely getting better. Just looking at the difference in faces between KH2 Sora, a two-year-old release and Org. XIII Coat Roxas, released in March, shows a fantastic improvement.

Is the scale still too big and unwieldy? Yes. Are they worth the asking price? Not in most cases. But they are definitely fixing the problems that got the line its (justified, for the most part) reputation.

Did I not specify that the line had a reputation that needed fixing? Some of those early and middle PAKs were just abysmal. It's only in the last year or two that PAKs began to up their game, and even then only on the first-party properties. Some of the comic book and third-party stuff is still replete with all the reasons why PAK is regarded with such scorn.

Just chill a little, man. It's getting better. Bring Arts may also provide a viable alternative, but I'm not holding my breath.

I really want Bring Arts to be good, too. I can't say I'm optimistic based on the first release (Why KH3 Sora? Why the sullen colours? Why no smiling face, especially if they're going to adorably post him with desserts?), but if they actually commit some resources to it? It could be a terrific line.

I'm just hoping it's first release anxiousness and the line does hit a comfortable stride. KH and FF characters that scale well with other lines is the goddamn dream.

Original Play Arts were great for their time, and some still hold up, I agree. I'm hoping Bring Arts will strike a compromise between the brighter colours and simpler sculpts of that line and the better engineering of recent PAKs.

I got the AC a couple of months ago. It's surprisingly good quality considering some of their previous Play Arts models. My only real issue is that the stand it came with is a fucking disaster.
I'm considering getting something 3rd party since not only do some of the joints not even attach properly but it can barely support the weight.

Are any of the KO's of decent enough quality that you can fix them up to not be a floppy mess? The only English review I could find on one I was interested in was on a knockoff Darth Vader.

Despite the hatred toward PAK they have had massive improvements when it comes to paint and QC in general. Too bad they started shitting the bed when it came to engineering though. Fixed the knees but then started using a worse type of neck/head articulation, a way worse type of torso articulation and some truly awful cape engineering.

With that said...I am greatly looking forward to the Bring Arts Sora. I hope it's good because they also announced Bring Arts 2B and Kaine from Nier Automata and Replicant. At the very least I think the sculpts and paint will be adequate enough to justify buying them. Thank god it's in a more sensible 1/12 scale.

AC Barret's design in general is uglier. That FFVII remake Barret looks fucking good though, if PAK didn't cost an arm and a leg maybe I would get back into collecting them

There's a Lightning Returns Play Arts Kai auction on ebay that's ending tonight which I've had my eye on for the last few days. And I was just wondering - what actually is a fair price for that now?
Because I honestly have no idea. I can't remember what SE was charging when the line was first released either.

Most websites are sold out and the ones that aren't are selling them for ridiculous amounts, like £300-400+
Did they deliberately not make enough of them so as to create an artificial demand? Are they extremely sought after in collector's circles? Is it just people hoarding them and then selling them off at extortionate rates to make a profit?
