When are we getting Ultimate Muscle figures?

What's the quality like on the knock off blanks? Cause these are apparently a thing and I kinda want one

They are terrible. Most of the joints will be loose and the hands won't fit well (and may lead to breakage in the short run of trying to swap them). Buy with caution, there's better things to spend 25 bucks on

Um thats mafex on the op and its uqly

That's Mafex.

Also, while I'm here. These are my first SHF's, and so far, I'm really liking them. Got a Bruce Lee on the way, too. Only thing I don't really like is that they didn't come with stands, and that the wrists are ball pegs. I kinda feel like they should just be straight pegs like other brands, I fear for Chun Li's super tiny ball peg hands, had to heat them up just to get them off of her.
>>
So is Barnes and noble not going to get Mikey and Raph?

Here's a video review of someone mentioning the thigh swivel.

>>6314126
Glad you are liking the 2 since I really like them too. It's been so long since I've felt really happy with a toy purchase. Yeah it's a bummer that they don't have stands when other figuart line has one(Ranma, Sailor Moon, etc.) but I don't mind much for these 2 since they have great balance and can stand without much problem in poses. You are right on the wrist pegs, I too would rather them just be a straight pegs so that I can use figmoe hands or the little armory hands on Chun-Li so I can make her hold guns.

>You are right on the wrist pegs, I too would rather them just be a straight pegs so that I can use figmoe hands or the little armory hands on Chun-Li so I can make her hold guns.

Oh, and for me it's not so much compatiability with other lines I need, so much as ball pegs are prone to breakage VS straight pegs. I just want better durability is all. Do all SHF's use ball pegs for the hands like this? Ryu seems like he'll be fine because he's got big fat thick ballpegs, but Chunners has thin as fuck ones.

Ah I see what you mean, but from what I experienced when handling her and swapping her hands, It didn't feel fragile but I did it carefully though. Most S.H. Figuarts that I own do have ball pegs but I think there are other types of wrist joints besides the ball peg end.

Also, word of warning. Did a heat treatment (10-ish seconds under a hair dryer on her ball joints in the leg) on Chun Li to try and loosen her legs up since mine were pretty tight. It didn't fuck her up entirely or anything, but, well...I wouldn't recommend trying this after my own experience. Turns out inside of her legs is a small plastic peg that is used in turning her legs, and me doing this, I guess, made the plastic around the peg recede somwhat. So now her legs wobble a bit.

And on top of this, it didn't fix her tightness of her ball joints for me. First time I ever had a heat treatment backfire on me, AND fail to fix a problem.
>>
>>6314680
Get shock oil.

For the peg thing, reheat and push it back up. Take off the leg first so you don't stress the hip joints.

>>6314680
Sorry to her that. Some suggest using the hairdryer trick to loosen up joints but after seeing an anon here deforming his/her S.H. Figuarts Captain Phasma's arm, I think it's much safer and less risky to just dip the problematic part in hot water(not boiling) and work the joints out. Personally, I haven't tried either only rubbing a little bit of dry soap(I use Dove) but since it's only water, you can safely dry it out in a day or two versus risking the chance of deforming something.
>>
>>6314687

I don't think I can take her leg off, for one. For two, I don't have any shock oil, don't know where to get some, and am not sure if theres different kinds that might harm plastic. I kinda live in the middle of bumfuck nowhere unfortunately. And for three, the peg is more of just a stopper of some sort. Theres a plastic ring, the peg is inside a slot in the ring. Either the ring widend a bit or the peg shrunk a bit, either way it's now not snugly fit into it.

>>6314692

Hot water and a hair dryer should have the same effect though. It's heat that makes plastic shrink/expand/whatever it does. Doing it the water method would've likely had the same results for me. Still, live and learn I guess. Like I said, first time this trick has ever backfired on me, I've done it to dozens of figures that had something too loose or too tight over the years.
>>
>>6314126
Lucky for you Bruce Lee has straight pegs, which I dont understand why figuarts doesn't just implement that into all of their figures.

It's kind of funny to watch some of the reviews of this figure on jewtube. Most of them have no idea she can be posed like this.
>>
>>6314705
Shock oil is a greaseless, non petroleum based lubricant used in RC cars. Designed specifically not to mess up plastics.
If you can't find it, use the water based lube you get for your favorite onahole/fleshlight. It's based on the same principle. Won't harm latex or plastics, but is a great lube.
3rd option is plain old soap. Just a dab of dish soap or a scraping of bar soap on the end of a toothpick. Rub it in the joint, and voila, no more grinding.
It's a trick that's worked for decades.

>>6315706
Yeah, I've seen reviews where they just posed the legs 90 degrees and calling it a day. they didn't know that because of her soft crotch piece, you can move her legs beyond 90 enabling the figure to do poses beyond the norm.

>tfw you lived in a time where a figure of you fav character can do a her poses with ease.

>>6315920
It's too early to tell if Cammy's hip joint will be as good as Chunnners, so let's give Bandai some time and maybe they'll improve her if they feel it's not upto par with the new fighting body technology they are advertising the SF line is using.

I seriously don't understand people who spend money on merch of characters they don't like or don't care about.

Are these the guys who are addicted to collecting and just buy out of habit?
>>
>>6316077
I mean, that's one reason probably.

Me, I often buy toys of characters I have no clue about because I like toys first and foremost, and I can appreciate a good one even without knowing who it is.

In my mind there's a distinct difference between people who buy a toy because it's someone they like (this sort of person will sometimes even buy a shit toy just because it's their fave character), and people who simply love toys and will buy anything good (this sort of person might even skip on a toy of their favorite character if it's not up to their standards).
>>
>>6316077
But I do like Chunners, I just don't have a lot of money nor the space for her. So I just don't like her enough to make the sacrifice

They got Chun Li just right but I prefer Cammy who is a character that I would make the above sacrifices for and yet don't like her figure enough.

If space/money weren't an issue she'd be mine already.

>>6316037
Nice to see another member of the fellowship of the thighs!

As a fellow Chun main, I definitely suggest to get her, with the new fighting body this figure is using, she is the most poseable figure of the character atm(except for the RaH but that's more like a doll because of the real clothes) and I doubt any company would surpass this in a long awhile since Bandai is known for poseabilty and because of this, the figure can do and recreate the moves/poses/signature moves the character is known for convincingly.

>>6316077
>>6316089

For me, I'm somewhere in between. I buy only figures of characters or characters from a series I like but I also only buy said figures of the characters if the figure is up to my like/standards. I had to impose a criteria to my buying limit just so I don't end up buying things I don't know the source from and also to save money as well.
>>
>>6317557
I don't think this figure is going to be flying off the shelves any time soon, and I'd still like to see what Storm Collectibles has in store...

>I buy only figures of characters or characters from a series I like but I also only buy said figures of the characters if the figure is up to my like/standards

That's what you should always do. This shit costs a lot of money. You should only be spending it on things that are both good quality and of something you care about.

I don't understand the mentality of 'well it's a good figure so i'll spend $85 shipped on it' That's how you become an addict with all your walls full of toys and the subject of an episode of Horders.

>>6318124

Why do the international releases of these things come with extra stuff anyway? Why not just drop the base version everywhere?

Also kinda wished the SF guys came with more effect parts. Ryu definitely could've used more stuff, guy only came with 1 set of hands and 2 heads and a hadoken. Chun Li had way more hands, same number of extra faces, and a bigger effect part. Ryu could've used more hand parts for sure, or maybe a giant beam shinku hadoken from some of the other games or something.
>>
>>6318426
Either Disney or Hasbro won't let it happen. Hasbro has the American license at this scale. By including a bunch of base parts and effect pieces Bluefin's release qualifies for some other category of toy.

Guess the time is now since if you'll check the big 3 online store(Amiami/HLJ/Hobbysearch), they're all out of stock as of this writing with Chunners, even Amazon JP is out of stock and 3rd party sellers there are upping her price.

But don't worry, US stores are usually 1 month or 2 delayed from getting their stocks so you can buy her from there incase you decided to get her figuarts. And also, Bandai is known to reissue big hitters so there is a chance for a re-release if there is a huge demand.

Just received my Ryu and Chun Li.

Chun is pretty much par for the course for a female Figuarts; paint on the gold trim could be cleaner, little bit of paint slop, paint blemish on screaming face, a few tiny cooling marks on her legs, matte finish a bit spotty in places. Basically a lot of small things that Figma somehow always do better. Engineering in said legs is fantastic though. Really like the figure overall.

The real surprise is Ryu. Subtle airbrush shading on all the fleshtones, airbrushing all over the gi, even some subtle airbrushing on his gloves. I think the faces look really good in-hand, but the glancing-sideways-teeth-gritted one is my personal favourite. The articulation's great, the shoulder flaps are better than people give them credit for if you futz with them a little. Biggest surprise though, is he's built like a fucking tank. I can't remember the last time I picked up a Figuarts figure this heavy, let alone one without any metal in it.

Help me /shf/

I thought I could start an Iron Man collection.
I got:
MK III
MK VI (Black)
MK XLII (Plus sofa)
MK XLVI
Tony Stark (With base)

Before deciding that I had already joined the game late and it would be too expensive to play catchup as well as pre-ordering the new figures which seem to have become exclusives.

How do I decide if I should sell my Iron men and which if any (might be nice to own one) Iron Man I should keep?
Also, I lost a one of XLII's wrist guards; is there somewhere I can order spares from?

Or should I persevere and try to fill in my gaps with possible future bargains?

Congrats! Now that you mentioned Ryu's pro's he is indeed a good figure, maybe I was spoiled by Chun-Li and didn't paid much attention to him. But now I'll try to play with him more.

Btw, to anyone who knows the answer, when do they usually announce what the SDCC exclusives figures will be? SDCC is in July so I'm guessing they'll announce it soon.
>>
>>6320271
I agree with this 100%. Maybe since we hang out in a "microcosmos" that's way more nitpicky than most (it can be very useful too, don't get me wrong), we don't realize people are actually loving them. I would have liked for a better shouting face and the eyes being 0.5 mm closer to each other, but as it stands, I love SHF Ryu. Hell, I'm fond of the flawed D-Arts Terry Bogard but I would buy another Terry all over again if it was at this level of quality.

Chun is wonderful tho. This line even makes me want to get Rashid, just so they don't incur in the feared web exclusives.
>>
>>6321229
It's like Bandai is purposefully sabotaging the line by making Rashid the third figure. Kinda like the third Civil War figure was Ant-Man instead of a popular character like Winter Soldier.
>>
>>6321263
Capcom could be forcing them to push Rashid too.
>>
>>6321263

On one hand, the lack of a Bucky SHF still hurts. But considering they did my boy Black Panther an exclusive, Bucky would've probably be one as well and I certainly don't buy them for scalpers' price. Also I think Winter Soldier's Bucky has a better design than Civil War's.

Seeing how Bandai did the SF line with their new fighting body tech, I'll say S.H. Figuarts(if handled by Bandai's A team) > figma > S.H. Figuarts (if handled by D team) > Revoltech.

Congrats on getting him, toy and 2ch had a field day when he was released, almost every post and reviews I've read/watched are all positives. Yeah no, fuck that noise. I like figma in terms of sculpt/paint but they are often very limited when it comes to articulation outside of a few examples. Also figma pricing has gone way out of control at this point. SHF A team or Revoltech are the only worthy choices. Everything else may as well not exist when it comes to Strider.

Yeah, pretty much the first thing that came to mind was "Oh fuck, it's Revo Woody 2: Electric Boogaloo". Figure seems great other than it's kind of small size, but I guess it fits. Bruce Lee was only 5'7 after all. My grandma at 70 was 5'7 and she was positively tiny.

>>6321933

I've gotta agree when it comes to figma's. They've been doing a lot of bait and switch shit lately, and the only 2 I own (Ryuko and Satsuki), while good figures, are also in dire need of more robust articulation, especially Satsuki, whose giant hair bits and massive shoulder pads really limit her articulation, even though these pieces are on joints and are removeable on their own.

I finally picked up the rock, and people were right, he's way better in-hand than in pictures. The texture difference between the body and head isn't as noticeable, and the articulation really is nice. The elbow swivel alone is pretty impressive.

Also, why the hell are these so cheap? I got the rock for like 25 on ebay, and stone cold is only a little over 30. I'd say the line bombed, but it seems like they're still cranking them out. I thought it had to be a bootleg, but it seems legit.

>>
>>6328340
Pop him apart at the waist. I had this problem.

Basically his torso works like any modern Figuarts release - upper torso on double ball joint, mid torso that connects to the waist via another ball joint. the issue is his upper gi is a soft vinyl piece over the top of all that. The lower torso is probably not aligned correctly with the hole in the bottom of the gi.

Also pull his shoulders off their butterfly ball joint and check the soft inserts for his torn sleeves. Any issues you're having with those will probably be them not being inserted properly, they need to be pulled over the butterfly insert fully with nothing between them and the joint inside his chest.

Congrats on getting Thicc-Li! From all the Female Figuarts I own(CCS, Sailor Moon, Android 18) I guess it's safe to say that she is my best one for the brand to date(awesome articulation, nice effect part, fun to play with), did you get her on srp? I was a bit disappointed by the lack of yatta face and v sign hands but since SFV Chun-Li didn't have one on the game, so I guess I can understand on why Bandai omitted those.

Nice you got Cammy preordered, I think she is already sold out again on preorders on most online sites. I just want the line to succeed so that I can have dem SF waifus(Juri, Karin, etc).

After seeing this pic, I want Bandai to make a Strider and Morrigan Figuarts since they've been a staple since MvC1.

I mean, in the sense that Legends as a whole are generally mediocre compared to import toys, sure. But all the movie Guardians figures aside from Drax are actually pretty incredible for being Legends. The face sculpts are easily some of their best work.

Meanwhile, Bandai's really phoning in their Star Lord and Rocket, so while they may be a bit better, they're not nearly good enough to justify the difference in price.

>>
>>6329765
I can agree in *most* cases; however, I'll have to disagree on Rocket. The figuarts is *visually* better in many regards, as the joints look more flush and the faces are more fluid. Couple that with figuarts joints and materials, and you have an (albeit arguably) better figure. Even the select Rocket is better than the Movie Legends. And in terms of price, retail of movie legends vs retail of SHE Rocket is negligible enough to forgo the price argument... at least in my eyes. I'd easily pay +$15 For better quality.

Me too, I'm thankful that Bandai let their "A team " handled it from the get go because usually when a new line or franchise gets started, they let their "D- team" tackle it first and see if the line will be successful then pass the line to the former if it is, example would be the Naruto, DBZ, Sailor Moon line.

Also besides the great articulation they have, I'm happy that Bandai made them somewhat inscale with the Sota figures, which doesn't make some characters who won't be made into a figuarts obsolete and I can also display them next to ML's for a MVC settings.
>>
>>6332131
>he still think there's an A team and D team
This meme needs to end. God forbid you should ever want to run a business.
>>
>>6332201
This is true though, same thing happens with Figma.
>>
>>6332201
>Different teams working on various lines all brought in under the SHF branding
>HURRDURR THERE IS NO DIFFERENT TEAMS GUIZ
You're kind of a moron aren't you? Even IF (and that's a big if) you believe there is only one set of guys working on every single figure in the line there are going to be properties that people are more passionate about. There are going to be releases that get extra special attention and thus are better engineered. The figma line is full of examples of half-hearted efforts and ultra passionate efforts for instance.

So whether there is a true A Team or D team or just preferential treatment it's clear the SF line is getting extra love.
>>
>>6332201
So what you're say is
The one and only experienced team makes shitty figures on purpose every now and then
>>
>>6332201

I know there probably aren't too many people who have both, but is stone cold supposed to have worse articulation than the rock? His torso has barely any twist, and crunching him forward as much as the rock can will pop the joint apart every time.

At first I was confused because I thought they were the same bodies, but they definitely seem to have different upper torsos: the rock has nipples and stone cold doesn't.

Just got my SHFA Chun-Li and as much as I adore it so I am a bit befuddled on why the heck she has no stand with her (Figma and Nendo spoiled me with this, I thought all SHFAs will always have it too after getting Sailor Pluto). Does SHFA sell stands? Or does all the pics above with her with a stand come from other SHFAs? Makes me think of buying a SHFA bootleg just for a stand if it ends up they dont sell stands by their lonesome.

Don't understand Japanese so I don't know what they are saying. Was disappointed that the hosts didn't play with the figures that much but maybe it's because they were afraid of perhaps breaking it. From looking at Cammy, it seems that she uses a different knee joint than Chun-Li, Not sure if it's the angle/view or what but from what I see, I think she can also do high kicks like the figuarts of Chun-Li if her crotch piece is also made of soft plastic.

Well, it's not even the same suit/age so I'm not sure why you're bringing it up, but okay, let's take a look.

It seems pretty apparent to me right off the bat that the SHF is quite accurate in proportion. Basically everything lines up nearly perfectly with the 3D model. I think it has the best head by far as well, which is a surprise since I usually hate anime-styled SHF headsculpts. The legs might be a tad too skinny but otherwise, zero complaints.

The PAK headsculpt is awful, especially the stringy greasy-looking hair and the dead-looking eyes. Proportions are a bit off as well, he feels tall and lanky whereas Sora at this age should feel somewhat short. His head is a bit too small perhaps. Some of this has to do with the heights of things, like how his jacket hem and sleeves are shorter than they should be. Exposing more arm makes it feel longer, and more adult-proportioned.

The Bring Arts is an improvement, but they haven't learned much in the hair department. It still looks stringy and wet. The sculpt is okay, but it looks a bit gummy, especially compared to the crispness of the SHF. The face is better than the PAK as well, but still looks a bit creepy and soulless to me. I feel this with most Square-Enix facesculpts.

Unlike other Square IP, KH always been licensed out (not necessarily to the right companies). I know NECA, Funko & Monogram have/had the license too. I think it's because they're part Disney.

Square should just let Bandai do FF characters too since they always had a working relationship. I remember there was a Dragon Quest figure made under the Square brand, but had a Figuarts mold.

Will Smith played him in the Suicide Squad movie last year

Oh shit, had no idea. I avoid the DC cinema stuff, it's been universally terrible outside of 2 of the Batman films.
>>
>>6345153
You're not missing much, but SS was one of the better modern DC movies
>>
Damn, it was just getting to the point where I could sell those Sailor Bomb figures for retail price.

Looks like a cloth cape.
>>
>>6344487
in a interview they says if this sells well, they gonna make Nier: Automata figures.
>>
>>6345224
I think if it sells well, it potentially opens the flodgates for SE to license out their characters for figures in general.

I would kill for an SHF Cloud and Lightning.

No clue.
>>
>>6344705
It'll happen. What may not happen is Figuarts for other SE properties.

One has to remember, the licensing agreement between Square Enix and Disney is that Disney the right to KH exclusive characters. Don't know why they care so much about essentially fan characters, but Disney will grip its jewish hands onto anything I suppose.

With Bandai building a repertoire with Disney through collector Marvel and Star Wars products, Bandai must have been in a good position to ask for the license of Kingdom Hearts characters. A bold move, but not one that's completely impossible. This is likely the same story with Diamon Select, though in my opinion they don't really have any business doing so looking at the results...

Neither Square-Enix nor their Play Arts branch would be able to stop them. They CAN obviously get in the way Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest, though, among other things strictly SE if they wanted.

Kingdom Hearta is just a mixed territory.
>>
>>6345219
Lol nope, still plastic. I guess they can't figure out how make a cape just like batman.

>The first Disney Character Bandai gets to pair with Sora is goddamn Jack Sparrow
I mean, I also know there is the new movie, but I'm some cheeky cunt on Bandai's side of the negotiation pitched that idea to all present. Meaning why we are seeing these two so close in this time span.

I hope Bandai gets licenses for some animated movies. I'll take one Beast, Alladin, Mulan, and Hercules, waiter. A Stitch the size of Rocket Racoon would be nice too. The revo would be too big, iirc.

Well, if Jack sells well enough, I'm sure Bandai would be open trying out other Disney properties.

Which figs come with actual fabric capes/cloaks? I can't justify buying Minato or Itachi because of the plastic cloaks.
If this Vader >>6345826 comes with a fabric cape I'll probably buy it.

the only thing that interests me about this; is the possibility of other SE properties being SHF'd.

Holy fuck getting FF characters as SHF.

Don't get your hopes up, the Sora Figuarts is more of a Disney deal than a SE one.
