Personally I was about to make the same sort of comments as well. I wonder how many 40k girls we can create now. Imagine if the mods become so prolific and popular that GW takes that as a sign for more SoB?

Heck these threads already have me considering price checking some of the bigger models like Imperial Knights. The other part of me is like 'why bother? it will be more then whichever girl you would be modding.'

>>
>>6309315

July.

Probably the first week.
>>
Why couldn't Kotobukiya add this face to the original Base?
>>
>>6309305
It's not OT as long as it is not talking specifically and only about the lore or tabletop for 20+ posts. This conversation has been all in regards to potential customization that would make cogboys weep tears of 'b-but that is heresy!'
>>
>>6309326
Speaking of 40k FAG mods, what about turning them into 40k spacecraft girls(inevitably winding up in Kancolle territory)using BFG bits, some servo-arms, and maybe 1/12 Gothic Lolita outfits?
>>
>>6309323
Because then you'd be less tempted to buy the BDs, obviously.
>>
>>6309356
>BFG bits
Highly unlikely to be feasible even with the largest ships in the game. You would have to scratch build and kit bash from other stuff for pretty much everything. Maybe, MAYBE you could pull off the cathedral spires and stuff using some titans from Epic 40k. Not sure the sizing on those though.

that being said I would effing love Gothic Lolita dressed 40k versions of Kancolle.
>>
>>6309386

>Gothic Lolita 40k versions of Kancolle

Such things would effectively be ship girls of the space cathedrals from 40k.

Speaking of building such things out if FAGs, only BBs and CAs could be built without looming silly when actually deployed in the tabletop unless they will be seeing service in Full Thrust in a meta where Star Wars stuff is the norm.
>>
>>6309391
>Such things would effectively be ship girls of the space cathedrals from 40k.
well obviously, plus a gothic lolita outfit vs anything military looking.

BBs? CAs? Full Thrust? and how does STar Wars stuff factor into all this? I never actually played the original tabletop of anything warhammer, just a nut for the Lore and the various vidya.

All this talk is making me really wish I was back in college in Pittsburgh where I had access to quite a few stores that had Bits bins. The models may be expensive but the sheer volume of the bits in those bins could help get together enough of the extra flourishs like purity seals, skulls, and other iconography to allow scratchbuilding 40k themed armor to be a lot easier.

Maybe I should take some time to check out if /po/ has any decent paper craft templates for 40K again and how feasible using them as guides for scratch building parts could be.

What mm is this drill bit? Anyone have recommendations for a starter pin vise+drill set? I've seen them for cheap on ebay but idk if it's better to buy the bits separate.
There's also two types of pin vise, normal ones and spring-loaded ones. Which one is better?

I don't like the spring ones, but it's more personal preference I suppose
>>
>>6309323
just wait for taobao recast it
>>
>>6309812
I believe it was a 0.3cm drill bit. Either way most pin vise sets come with those and I can't say I've used the spring loaded version, but the manual version is good enough if your hand is steady and your workspace is level
>>
>>6309787
Smugrunner would be a better DE then just Smug imho
>>
>>6309806
They're technically non-scale, but closest to 1/12 scale (also known as 1" or one inch scale, mostly with doll house accessories, it means 1 inch = 1 scale foot). They're not exactly in that scale though, they err on the large side, so there may be some discrepancy if the item is on the smller end of the scale.
>>
>>6309806
>>6310058
Don't forget anime heads are a WAY different scale than realistic heads. While 1/12 stuff fits the body and accessories, OM Kikaku 1/8 scale helmets are a better fit for the head.
>>

>>6310058
Note: FaGs are somewhat THICCER than Shinki and Megami Device, and Innocentia's packed-in long neckpiece stops her from looking odd with clothing that has collars.

>>6310072
The Bullpup looks more like the SAR-21 anyway.
>>
>>6309513
Full Thrust is a tabletop wargame with fully customizable ships.
>>
>>6309513

ISDs may be seen depicted and used as capital ships in that game. They are about the same size as most 40k escort-type vessels, so fielding FAGs modded to be escort-type vessels will be less awkward.
>>
>>6309513

BB=US Navy hull code for battleship.

CA=US Navy hull code for heavy cruiser.
>>
>>6309513
Making a purity seal is kinda easy, just roll a candle on a piece of paper on both sides until they feel waxy to the touch, then use the candle to carefuly burn the edges to give it that old parchment look and the rest is just dropping hot red wax on it.

The hard part is getting an imperial quality seal of the size you need, but i guess you can just get that from some 40k model.

>>
>>6313046
Sand it to shape then
>>
>>6313046
Use a photo as reference, lol
>>
>>6313482
That's definitely not normal for any of the FAGs. In the cases of the newer ones if you're having it hold something really heavy the wrists should give first, and if it's something that you're mentioning before the horrible waist joint then you definitely have a problem on your hands. I'd recommend filling the hole with putty and drilling a new one, or giving the peg a bit of a topcoat (if that makes it too tight don't try to force it in and sand the coat down a tad)
>>
>>6313482
Which part of her arms? I know for a fact that the shoulder joints don't pop out easily, so you're talking about her upper arms, right?
>>
>>6313505
The upper arms, yeah, the hole seems to be bigger than the pin so the arms just don't hold at all, I was even thinking I've missed some part that goes inside.

>>6313502
It's that bad. Probably better to fix the peg as I do want to use these arms on Gourai also from time to time, but I'm really not sure (and need to buy materials anyway, I don't have any painting/cementing stuff)
>>
>>6313007
>Epoxy or putty

>>6313537
Use a thin coat of clear nail polish or Pledge to make the peg just a little bit thicker.
>>
>>6313542
Yeah, gotta buy something like that, we don't have Pledge here but nail polish might do the trick...
>>
>>6313546
You could also try blu-tac.

Have you tried the arm on other FAGs? That would tell you if it's a problem with the peg or the hole.
>>
>>6313553
I've tried with Gourai and it's weird. The arm definitely holds better on Gourai, not perfect, but stays in place. Gourai's arm also fits better on Innocentia, but still quite loose. Innocentia's black seems to fit her own peg better than the flesh arm. I'm a bit confused to be honest, but I'll get a closer look tomorrow.

>>
>>6313723
Prime each piece separately. Generally, you want to separate parts as much as you can. Like, it's okay to keep a gun stuck together since you'll probably use a similar paintjob across the whole thing, but don't keep the thighs attached to the lower legs, for instance.

Speaking of paints, did I fuck up? This is my first time handpainting, and I made quite a lot of mistakes.
>did not use primer
>used glossy white and black
>thicc panel lines
Since I did not use a primer and just painted on bare plastic, shits flaking off even when I run my nails slightly across the painted surface. The light blue I used had this problem the most, you can see bits of scratched off paints on the right shoulder piece and left ankle piece. Every now and then I will have to touch up the paint that have dropped off. She has not been topcoated yet. Should I strip everything down again and repaint her, this time with priming first? Or will topcoating her make the paint more resistant?
>>
>>6314055
You definitely have to prime or you'll experience exactly what you're experiencing with the flaking.

That said, it doesn't look half bad, aside from the hip parts, which look kind of sloppy. Pretty good for your first try though, and everyone makes mistakes. That's how you learn, so don't worry. Strip, prime, and try again.

If you want to remove the glossiness, use matte top coat. It'll fix how it looks, but it won't strengthen the paint much.
>>
>>6314055
Prime her, that will alleviate the paint flaking, and then topcoat to seal it. The glossy black and white aren't a problem, it makes your stylet unique, own it make it your own.
>>
>>6314024
Depends on the ratio.
>>
>>6314055
Did you wash the parts before painting? That would probably account for paint coming off way more than a lack of priming.

If you did wash before painting then you can just topcoat with matte to get rid of the gloss and also seal in the paint.
>>
>>6314055
what paint did you use?
>>
Well, I actually found something that seems to have done the trick with the loose arms, although we shall see how lasting the effect will be...

It's not like it's impossible, but you'll get a goopy, runny mess that's pointlessly hard to work with and will take about five years to fully cure.

Megami Devices have a couple of parts that can break in construction if you aren't careful.
Once the whole thing is together, it's considerably sturdier, but some experience would really help you get to that point without ruining the kit.
Knowing what to glue together, some experience with seam welding, and panel-lining should be considered necessary to build a Megami Device without wrecking it.

If you can get Materia looking decent, then WISM should be within your grasp.

Is there some kind of... stand or... something like the Mechanical Chain Bases that's just a big grid of 3mm holes? Something I can use to display/store all my unused M.S.Gs, kind of like the stands in the anime.
>>
>>6318387
di:stage

alternatively, just get a block of acrylic and drill as many 3mm holes in it as you want
>>
>>6318387
I've seen pictures of the bases from the anime so I'm sure they're going to be selling them at some point.
>>
>>6318091

Wow, that... that actually looks pretty terrible.
>>
So what's up with the next episode? The girls go back to school with Ao again?
>>
>>6318125
A centimerter's a lot at this scale though. Like nobody wants another Super Fumina because figures that size plain don't fit any longer.

I just put together my first Megami, and I must say parts were VERY tight fits, so maybe a little practice with a cheap HG gundam kit would be helpful so you aren't freaking out too much.
>>
>>6318074
As with ANY question for 'news about upcoming _insert grey proto/planned product image here_ yet?' wait til the next Wonfes before you start asking. It is pretty rare for much progress and news to be had on anything at that stage of development outside of big events like wonfes. Even more so for smaller stuff like that. Bigger companies with popular lines are a bit more likely to give updates out of no where.
>>
>>6318775
Megami D's need a little sanding down to deal with the too-precise tight joints.

Also more POM parts.
>>
>>6318786
I already sanded down my joint pegs, just forgot to mention that as advice. I was instead refering more to the fitting of the parts in general. Very tight and that might scare some people unfamiliar with model kits in general into being worried they are going to break something if they push too hard. I had two peices where the trying to fit them together actually caused a bit of stripping on a peg which resulted in a seam with a gap.

Latest build: Innocentia head (cool expression), Materia lower torso, Architect limbs for a combat mode catgirl. Also a nice new bike for my girls (1/12 random bike from TRU)
>>
>>6318902
Centered better on her at landscape instead
>>
>>6318905
Because I used an older Materia lower torso I need to tighten up her hip joints a little.

Still managed to seat her on the bike.
>>
>>6318902
Pretty Tight.
Any particular reason not to use the innocentia LTorso? I would have thought it a better fit.
>>
>>6318921
I wanted to keep the colours consistent for now without repainting and I had the older Materia spare parts in my box full of FAG parts.

Recently I had 3 Innocentia and 2 Architect preorders all drop in at once so I have a sudden windfall of FAG parts since I bought 2 extra Innocentias off-the-shelf and I don't need to build 5 identical Innocentias. It's a great excuse to make a custom catgirl.

Still having trouble figuring out how to either transplant Architect's skirt to Gourai's lower torso or modify Architect's lower torso to take Gourai's lower torso armor panels without a dremel.
