Web comics about toys?
Dealers
http://www.thewebcomicfactory.com/comic/dealers-1-1998-was-the-year/
Nerdragecomic had a few toy themed ones if I recall, but they do almost exclusively video game comics now.
>>6307356
This is a great read if only for the insight it gives into toy dealers and the business.
>>6307352
Anyone got the comic where the toys come alive?
>>6307396
this?
>>6307380
>>6307410
One of toy's favorite lolcow related.
>>6307412
>>6307356
There are hints that it is a work of fiction, though.
okay, sorry for the bad reference, but wwhy does it feel like I am reading Marry Worth?
Rusty Brown is best comic about toys.
>>6307473
Is this the blandest shit ever?
>>6307493
If you were expecting capeshit action scenes or titties, you're going to be disappointed. It's a slow burn.

This is so fucking creepy, man. I'm getting bad vibes from it. The art and tone of the dialogue are unsettling somehow...like I feel like this is going to turn into a really dark serial killer story at any moment. This guy's art really doesn't work for a slice-of-life toy webcomic, and the writing is so stiff and stilted.
>>6307541
>If you were expecting capeshit action scenes
Not him, but I was expecting at least some interesting insight on the toy business through maybe a semi-autobiographic personal experience. Instead we get some wish-fulfilment story about some dude having some sort of epic adventure and being cool for collecting toys.
>>6307560
Finish reading it.
>>6307617
This. It's as true today as when it was written. I didn't lose a girlfriend or a career over it but I definitely wasted the couple of years I tried to do this.
>>6307398
I think actually there might be quite a few where the toys come alive.
In the one I'm remembering (if correctly) there was a curse which the owner triggered somehow and maybe they kill him.
The toys may have been broken at some point in the story.
>>6308012
Why did I read all of it...
It wasn't all completely awful but at best it managed to be mediocre. There's no likeable characters and the little character development that there is sucks big time. You don't have to have likeable characters but my initial assessment holds true for the rest of the webcomic. It could've been told in an engaging way if the author managed to make you care even a little, but it's just bland as fuck throughout.
I also wonder why sometimes the speech bubbles would be fucked up, pointing in wrong directions (I think there were at least two instances of speech bubbles pointing to the same character when he was having a conversation with someone else).
Also, there's typos and bad grammar.
The art is okay, yet somehow manages to both be wasted on this comic and look goofy at times. I don't really know why this is a comic. Nothing interesting happening on any page - the webcomic format was just a shitty vehicle to tell this bland story.

>Instead we get some wish-fulfilment story about some dude having some sort of epic adventure and being cool for collecting toys.
Guess how I can tell you didn't actually read the whole thing?
>>6308175
Never said I did.
>>6308175
I tried reading it and i agree that its the most blandish thing ever. I didn't bother finishing it either.
The most interesting thing about the comic is the hilarious thread we had about it on /toy/.
>>6308189
Archivelink? Remember anything worthwhile from the thread?
Is that comic based on a real or 'real' story?
>>6307352
>20 replies
>Still no Shortpacked shit
I'm actually impressed.
>>6307475
>Not Vampirella at a Not GI Joe Con
If only. JoeCon is so fucking dull. The "hottest" cosplay girls that show up are like 4s & 5s at best.
Is this a
lol
thread /toy/ edition?
>>6311266
Short packed is dead and stopped being readable years before the end.
>>6311345
Short Packed never was readable, anon.
>>6311266
>>6311345
>>6311357
Did somebody say Shortpacked?
>>6311282
>going to any very specific series convention
I've seen Firefly and TF conventions and the people are embarrassing to look at.
Everyone looks like they gave up on life and the only thing keeping them going is Prime/Whedon.
Have some more Rusty Brown
>>6311442
Fantastic.
>>6311442
Kek.
>>6311442
>tfw I actually liked Shortpacked at first
I even have the first collected book. The one girl is a trans now? Really? Ugh...I feel dirty.
>>6318685
>I even have the first collected book.
I'd tell you to burn it and post it on youtube for hits, but it'd be much better to sell it. That way you'll get money and they'll be the ones who have to live with having bought that fucking thing.
>>6311442
>short, questionably packed content
kek
>>6308155
I mean, it's a true story of a guy trying to make money buying and selling toys. How is it not going to be a bland mediocre story? It's basically an anecdote of that time he became obsessed with toys to the point he kinda screwed up his life a little. And I agree that none of the characters are particularly likeable, but with the content of the story, maybe they aren't supposed to be.
I do remember having a good chuckle when they go all vicious thug on their competition, but it turns out to be a fantasy.
>>6318992
>his wife cheated on him
For reals?
>>6319006
It's a cautionary tale. The main characters were likeable enough.
>>6319017
Been part of the #WIIGII! Walky crew for almost 2 decades. Graham and Walky wanted this girl called Trixter, Graham got her. But Graham got bored of her when she went full crazy SJW and now he is having sex with Walky's wife. Walky does not know anything. And it will stay that way because he is so clueless.
>>6318685
I think that one was a Questionable Content reference.
>>6307352
I don't remember the art being quite this shitty before. I mean it was never high art to start with, but I remember the lines being smoother and the characters not looking so squiggly and sloppy
I mean the words don't exist that can adequately convey the sheer depths of how BAD this art looks. I feel genuine embarrassment for the creators on how far their art as degraded.
>>6319918
They haven't done their own art in a long time.
>>6311442
>>6311442
One time on the USENET TF group one guy bought an Alternators Hound test shot off Ebay and wanted to share with them some as then unknown features on the toy, and Walky was at the forefront of the lynch mod in denouncing this guy as a thief.
Then when Raksha's friend died and she lashed out at someone she thought was bashing the guy, Walky also joined in on dog piling Raksha when she was down.
Once on the Allspark Walky talked snidely to someone who had legit criticisms on the 2002 GI Joe toylline like the weird proportions. Walky told him "It's called progress. You should try looking it up sometime." In Shortpacked he advocated violence toward any Joe fan who didn't praise Sigma Six as the greatest thing ever. It was later revealed that Walky's entire experience with GI Joe was limited to three Tiger Force figures.
He's always embodied the worst possible traits of a toy collector while simultaneously acting as if he was above them
>>6319918
I feel genuine embarrassment for you because you're getting so assblasted over something so meaningless, you over dramatic little shit.
>>6320074
Oh. I thought maybe it was a crossover since it was called Short, Questionably Packed Content, and that that character was Claire.
>>6307352
Jesus fuck, I've been off of the PA train for a while but what the fuck happened to the art style?
>>6311357
It was allright initially but eventually it became more about how every character was Gay which started making the comic lame.
>>6319973
> Walky married his clone
Wut?
>>6320039
But the art (4th style?) is pretty awful. Even the art from the first TPB, like 1998, was better. And that was definitely closer to "hey, I can do that" than this ugly but still sorta manufactured look.
>>6320360
You can definitely see the SJW shift.
Personally, I don't think the fandom is anywhere near as colorful as it was even a decade ago. Just way too many assholes whose only contribution is to like everything or whine about criticism. Makes for a real lack of material to parody.
>>6320374
The Toy fandom?
Yeah, there is a reason /toy/ is the only board I visit for my hobby. I really can't stand most people elsewhere. It's just like it's some huge competition over everything and everyone bitches loudly about everything. This is extra true for Transformers fans.
The only other TF community I've ever bothered with is alt.toys.transformers, and that's only when I remember I have a usenet account still and because it was the place to be back in 1998.
>>6320387
TF fandom. I consider /toy/ to be like a foulmouthed 2005. Just really bland interchangeable posters. Like they've got nothing else going on. Difference is really that 2005 likes everything and /toy/ hates everything. But still in the most boring way possible.
How about a real comic and not a webcomic
>>6307352
we /v/ now
>>6326026
What is this, Jay & Silent Bob? There's a Jay & Silent Bob comic & I don't know about it?
Does Eltingville count?
>>6331424
It never got picked up, it was pretty funny though.
>>6307352
This strip reminds me of when I was 10 and I wanted RID Ruination but the torso robot wasn't released in my country, so I had only arms and legs.
I'm planning to buy the UW Baldigus to revenge my 10 years old self.
>>6331424
Do you mean the Clerks Animated series that ran for 6 episodes?
Fun Fact- it has the same character designer as Kim Possible and the new Big Hero 6 series coming out.
>>6332338
Welcome to Eltingville.
>>6311585
Where can I get more of Rusty?
>>6332338
Nah the pilot for Welcome to Eltingville.
The one episode involved the two main characters having this obscure nerd trivia contest in order to decide who would get to buy the last one of some toy at a comic shop. It has actually obscure trivia if I recall.
>>6331457
That reminds me of when Hasbro Europe decided to re-release G1 Devastator in the arly 90's but without any combiner parts.
>>6320361
it's simple, now neither of them will be virgins
>>6332338
>Do you mean the Clerks Animated series that ran for 6 episodes?
It got cancelled after 2. The others aired two years later.
>>6331272
This is the tpb with the 3 Clerks comics.
