i'm really glad someone pointed out to me that it isn't just a straight repaint of ROTF optimus.

I can see the many improvement, but I unfortunately, the chest isn't as good looking as ROTF. It doesn't fall back in place as good, though I can't deny the effort. To be honest, they relied a bit on faux-forming for ROTF leader Prime, while here the red part and lights are actually the original part f the alt mold, so I guess reallity get in the way of good proportions.

But still, they had put fake folded door under the window for leader ROTF Prime, why couldn't they do the same for Masterpiece.

Also notice the lack of blue fold for his sides, who are completely gone. I also included 10th anniversary Movie Prime as it has the best paint job of the non-masterpiece figures for comparison.
>>
TLK Voyager Prime arrived in the mail yesterday and he's nifty as hell. I'm now debating whether I should get Barricade or Beserker

My only regret is that they didn't keep the transforming back-tank.

You can actually see them transforming into his gun in the movie.

Thought I'd take a picture of my Primes since we're discussing the new MP Prime. Fire Convoy technically counts. For an old figure from my childhood he stills holds up well. The rubber tires haven't even cracked at all. I'm missing the back leg panels, his lightbars, and the rest of his trailer unfortunately.

>Diecast

Fuck! Looks like it's in the torso, which isn't too bad, but it also looks like his ankles go straight from plastic ball to metal socket, which if true means this nigga won't stand after a few transformations.

I'm only basing this on the fact that his feet are two different grays , which might also mean unpainted metal. That combined with the seeming lack of a waist swivel and reduced accessory count make that MB leader retool look pretty tempting.
>>
>>6302682
I can't quite tell but it looks like it should be plastic going into plastic. I honestly have enough faith to think they wouldn't do a plastic on metal joint. It might not even be the only joint holding it ankles together either.

Transformers: The Last Knight actress Laura Haddock took a moment to explain what it’s like to work with director Michael Bay on the set of the new movie.

Haddock explains that the director has a practical approach rather than relying on CGI. He even had built a second fake Stonehenge for the sole purpose of blowing it up.

“Michael’s sets are practical, so you would think that maybe 90 percent of this film is done on green screen, and it’s really not,” Haddock tells EW. “He loves an explosion. He absolutely loves them, so if he can use them safely, he will. Often you’re running through what feels like a genuine … battlefield. Something that kind of builds your adrenaline. You’re absolutely experience what it feels like to have an explosion go off just behind you. And you’re just running, running for your life.”

“I mean the man took a whole crew and cast and unit to Stonehenge and then by the time he had made it down the road, built another Stonehenge just so he could blow it up,” Haddock says.

Well, went around the town today. Movie 5' stuff are out.

Did not get anything big, I am still torn on the new OP. The mold is ok, (I wish the shoulder not being that wide) but the coloring just kills me. But I am tempted. Try to convince me one way or the other on this.

Did get one of them tiny turbo changers. There is a little window on the bottom of the bag so you can somewhat ID them by the color. The problem is the stores around here do not like people sniffing around or actively squeezing the bag. But you somewhat have to as the figures are usually right in the middle of the package, no where near the window.

I ended up finding Blackout quick by luck (also the rather distinct color), but can't find Starscream in time. The stores are crowded and not to mention not bright enough to easily ID the grey of Starscream.
I guess I can live with not getting SS as I still have the 3's deluxe.

So, new movie blackout when?

Chromedome is neat and surprisingly solid. I think I can see why people were disappointed with his engineering coming off of CW, but it's neat seeing a cleaner version of the CW carbot transformation. I almost want a Deadend repaint of this mold just for shits and giggles.

My only complaint is that his guns are lame as hell. He's got a shitty cockpit gun and a little rifle that's exactly the same as Brainstorm's (and being in red plastic makes them look terrible). And since this is the LG version he came with a TM vehicle, but his TM vehicle is probably the single lamest one there is.

I'll probably end up just giving him one of Sentinel Prime's guns.

I wish it looked like a Zoid, the final 3P Lio Convoy design looks uninspired as hell, unlike the awesome Cybertronian Lio Convoy design from the comics.

I like both organic and robo beasts, but I like a particular kind of robo-beast. I love the Transmetals and Zoids, the Cybertron beasts and even the new movie Dinobots. But I'm not too fond of most of the G1 beasts, just too blocky. The g1 Dinobots are fine, but the latter ones that are just blocks with some limbs are just shitty. Like Apeface and Snapdragon, their beast modes just look like shit. Robo beasts should have some sleekness.

I would like to see Optimus as a fire truck more often. I think a fire truck invokes a heroic image in a better way than a trailer truck can. https://youtu.be/WfI0Pzu-uAc?t=5m11s
and that's one of the reasons why RiD Optimus is my favorite Prime. When he's not fighting Predacons/Decepticons he's out working with the local fire department to help put out fires. You wouldn't see any other Prime do that with the exception of Animated Optimus. The others would just sit around at base all day waiting for Megatron to do something.
>>
>>6304780
Thats exactly why I don't want Fire Convoy to be Optimus. It takes a unique trait to a different character and shuffles it into yet another Optimus.
>>
>>6304777
Because there was almost no post-9/11 GI Joe. I get it. You're an angry edgy teen who hates da man. But the common military person doesn't deserve your utmost hate like that. Hate the institution. The military's dick gets sucked so hard because Bay. He loves the whore them out because he's got connections other film-makers don't. Fuck I hate Michael Bay.
>>
Just so ya know, the military gets its dick sucked in the movies because it's part of what filmmakers have to do to get actual us military hardware as props. The Marvel movies leave them out entirely post ww2 in order to avoid this. They can't be portrayed in a negative light or they won't get to use them.

I get where you're coming from, but at some point what is so interesting about telling the same Autobot-Decepticon war story over and over again?

Nobody's ever touched the postwar era before, and frankly I find it more interesting than retelling the cartoon I watched as a kid, the cartoon I watched as a preteen, the comic books I read as a teen, and the movies I watched in college.
>>
>>6304878
maybe you should unsheathe him from the box to find out anon sama chan

Big permanent things happen all the time in real life too man. You can have a comic have big things happening and still keep it fresh and good.

That's so the clear blue wouldn't bleed through the yellow.

I wish it was just Brainstorms feet:

>Almost the whole arm is painted
>Nosecone is completely painted
>Face is painted
>Crotch is painted

It's painfully obvious they never planned out the color distribution for the Blur mold, leaving Brainstorm all fucked up (who was probably a last minute remold).

I think it might have something to do with the legends line. Looking at the black plastic parts, it seems that Takara designed the sprue first then Hasbro had to figure out how the hell to work it for them.

The sad part is that they probably did... for Nautica. Of the Blurr parts, the only parts that use a ton of paint are half the torso and a part of the seat.

This doesn't explain the utterly retarded shit that went down with the new face and turbines (face is molded in dark blue, turbines are molded in white, meaning not only did they use two molds for these new parts instead of one, both weren't molded in purple when it's the primary color for both).

That'll only happen if Takara were to create a new TF series again. I can't see modern Hasbro spending the money for new designs like that.

I still like these guys, Sideburn in particular. I hate how only old G1 designs are forgiven for having kibble but its unacceptable for anything after 1990. The car bros' kibble was all part of their aesthetic. I like them a lot because they feel like TFs that where made to mimic then-current mecha trends. They almost remind me of Shoji Kawamori designs. It makes me upset that Armada onwards switched to the G1 aesthetic again, then animated onwards went for the lazy stylized aesthetic that Prime and RiD2015 drove intot he ground.

What are the best quality, most show-accurate Prime toys?
>>
>>6304964
On a whole, the first Edition line, but to an extent their are some mainline TFP:RiD figures that are more show accurate. Vehicon being the biggest example. Starscream's Voyager is arguably more show accurate, but not as good a toy. TFP:RiD wasn't a bad line, but on a whole they really cheapened out compared to the first Edition line.
>>
>>6304961
The autobot brothers did make good use of their vehicle kibble as weapons.
>It makes me upset that Armada onwards switched to the G1 aesthetic again, then animated onwards went for the lazy stylized aesthetic that Prime and RiD2015 drove intot he ground.
I kinda disagree with the Animated remark. I thought they gave off an old school anime design with how simple they were. Being animated by a japanese studio probably helped.
>>6304964
All of the First Edition toys, Deluxe Starscream, Soundwave, Beast Hunters Shockwave, and Wheeljack come to mind.
>>
>>6304968

Animated literally looked like DCU-ized Transformers though. It had the same weird scoliosis backs and everything.
>>
>>6304965
What's not as good about Voyager Starscream?
>>
>>6304971
DCAU I mean. You know, Batman:TAS and Superman style.
>>
>>6304968
Animated isn't really guilty of it, but I do blame it for starting the downfall. I knew things where going downhill when TFPrime Ratchet had to have fake doors on his chest rather than actually having them transform. The severe stylization in modern lines is done without any thought as to how the transformation would actually work. Though, again, I do respect animated for making seemingly impossible designs real. I just don't find it as cool as what we could've had, TF Heroes.
>>
>>6304971
>>6304975
I am a fan of those designs so that definitely contributes to my love of Animated. It was heroic and different looking compared to the other series.
>>
>>6304971
Thats because that DCAU style is the only way to do 2D animation on a decent budget without fucking up. You know why the old MArvel cartoons from the 90's, GI Joe, hell, even G1(besidesthe movie and a handful of episodes) had such wonky animation? Because expecting a bunch of animators to faithfully replicate a shitton of details on a really overworked character design is impossible. You compromise with either simple designs that are constantly moving(like the DCAU) or very detailed designs that barely move except for a select budget-busting scenes(anime)
>>
>>6304973
The Voyager has some wonky proportions that hurt articulation and weird translucent arms, but overall its more just that the FE deluxe is just too good. The Voyager is not bad, just not the better option.
>>
>>6304980

Everything comes back to budget though. Why do you think Prime was so "empty" all the time with it's sparse backgrounds and etcetera? Budget. They didn't want to waste money modelling more scenery than they had to.

Oddly enough the current RiD's weirdly janky, stuttering animation isn't due to budget, but due to them wanting something that more resembled traditional animation. Problem is, that doesn't work so well in 3D, or if it does, it's not working so great here.

The FE has some very wonky proportions too so I wouldn't hold that against the Voyager. The FE also has a godawful backpack and terrible undercarriage bloat that no one ever seems to mention that the Voyager does not have. FE's arm slides are also shit, mine are narrow at the top so its takes a tremedous amount of force to pull them out and then they're loose at the bottom giving him floppy arms which is bullshit; but I'm not sure if that was common or if I was just unlucky
I have both and love both but honestly I feel the Voyager is the better figure of the two, but the FE is maybe a better toy.

Interchangable kibble, maybe? You've got your base robot to car, but then you switch out the car parts for beast mode parts?

Between CW and TR, player customisation seems to be a big thing in modern Transformers, so I could see Hasbro doing it.

turned inside out. aka the laziest kind of transformation except for shell-forming.

Even more frustrating when you see all the faux-kibble parts in robots mode

This is one of the reason I really like the ROTF leader Prime and the new Masterpiece figure. There, they actually tried to make the transformation be like it's pretending to be.
>>
>>6305523
>aka the laziest kind of transformation except for shell-forming
It looks amazing in robot and vehicle mode, I wouldn't call that lazy at all dude, it's impressive as fuck.
I think you're coming from the stand point that you'd rather the transformation take precedence over the look of the figure which I don't understand but hey everyone likes what they like.
>>
>>6305543
>I think you're coming from the stand point that you'd rather the transformation take precedence over the look of the figure
I like the figure. But I love how part of the vehicle mode end up being part of the robots. It's always a disapointment to me when the robot mode has moulded "faux-kibble" of what is supposed to be part of the vehicle mode instead of being that part itself.

The figure look good, it's true, but that's mostly because it's very easy to do that when you take a turning-inside out approach.
